Here it is! Lan Wangji has finally debuted! My god, this chapter was a monster, hahaha. Lots of SFX that needed to be cleaned, but I'm happy with the final result.

OH also, AU I've been thinking about where the Lan are known for being professional ballet dancers/teachers and Lan Sizhui is like Lan Wangji's protégé (/son) of sorts. Meanwhile, Mo Xuanyu is like a self taught ballet dancer that learned everything he knows from trial and error, and online. Cut to Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji's favourite musician (anything but classical) and the guy whose music he used to dance to just for fun, who has been basically dead to the world for thirteen years, putting out a call for two young ballet dancers to help him with his new music video. Lan Sizhui and Mo Xuanyu, who both grew up dancing to his music (Sizhui with his father), offer auditions. Wei Wuxian has always loved the Lan and is honoured to have one in his music video, and he is in love with Xuanyu's raw, emotional dancing. Cue found family and all that, I've just realised how insane this actually sounds

here he’s animated in 4 fps for obvious reasons- he’s also supposed to be kinda creepy, what with the red tinged eyes, giant unnaturally large and black pupils, and extended eye contact?

i’m also giving some serious consideration to using a flat edged brush and exclusively cell coloring and shading for all the real things and people in the scene to make wwx look wrong/ incorporeal: blotchy and colored like ink in water

Honestly I think Maomao would get along with all three of them on the account of they are all kind people and Maomao has a very soft spot for kind people.

LWJ and How He Parallels His Father

Okay, so I just have to get this out but in the flashback at the Golden Carp Tower where LWJ talks with his brother briefly, it seems to mirror his father. They both take back (or at least try to) their love and put them out of harm's way despite the harshness of this. LWJ with WWX and trying to hide him from the cultivation world and his father against the Lan clan itself. This makes Xichen's reaction interesting. He seems astonished, likely because of LWJ's tendencies, but also very potentially due to this parallel. I would love to have his thoughts regarding that in this scene but they're both interrupted before he can speak them and it's not elaborated on enough to determine whether or not he's thinking that way.

This also raises the question of whether or not LWJ got the idea from his parents or his general opinion on it in relation to this. He takes longer to phrase it when he vocalizes it to his brother but it isn't shown why that is. It could be usual difficulty trying to phrase his situation or it could be a result of this parallel that he's carefully speaking his mind. It makes one wonder what would have happened if WWX had actually accepted considering the hind/foresight that LWJ and LXC's parents would bring to the situation. This is, of course, ignoring the other reasons he can't go and be hidden. There is so much to be analyzed with MDZS and WangXian's relationship alone.
