Season 2 Finale Poll: Part 2

Once again, the first person selected to join Mechi on his journey towards the Archonexus is his loyal twin, Kwahu. The two of them have been together for so long now that it would seem outrageous to separate them, and they're both relieved to have each other on their journey.

It's now time for Away Team Vote 2/4! This one, I'm less sure I know what the outcome is going to be, and I'm excited to find out who y'all would like to see coming along for the ride! Once again, here are skillsets and some for and against ideas for each colonist:

Tokori Jones (First Appearance)

Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's one of Mechi's most trusted confidants, and Mechi would definitely feel much better having him around for a new colony - He's a kickass necromancer with nine fingers left in case of emergencies - He's a mechanitor, and it's always good to have more mechanitors - As he doesn't hold a royal title, he isn't going to complain if he doesn't have a throne room immediately - He isn't addicted to caffeine, so we don't need to worry about managing that as we set up a new colony - He has a detoxifier kidney and a detoxifier lung, which will be useful if we happen upon any pollution or toxic environments in our new home - Would you really leave a recluse back in a busy castle with seven other people? - Now that Mechi and Kwahu are both leaving, he'll feel pretty abandoned and forgotten if we go without him - He's a first aid expert, and there can never be too many of those on the rim - I love him

Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - Mechi already has the mechanitor/psycaster bases covered by himself - He looks the same as Mechi, so it's not like we'd be missing out on a particularly unique character design - He loves the bath, so we'll be rushed off our feet to get hot water and fully plumbed bathrooms ASAP in our new colony - We might run into him later

Sergeant Lapu Jones (First Appearance)

Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's Mechi (and Kwahu)'s long-lost father! - Having an iron-willed night owl in a new colony would be extremely useful for getting lots of work done around the clock without worrying about mental breaks - He's probably very anxious to see his wife and daughter (Mechi's mum and sister) again, so he'd like to tag along with Mechi since he's who they're looking for - Two out of three of his reunited/newly-discovered sons are going, and he'd be gutted if he lost his son(s) for a second time - I love him

Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - He's not as young as he used to be - Now that he knows Mechi is alive and well, he might feel more comfortable hanging around in a fortified castle instead of trekking around the planet - His abrasive personality is not going to be particularly helpful in braving uncharted territory - Has no artificial enhancements and is sad about it - We might run into him later

Ivy Jones (First Appearance)

Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's Mechi and Kwahu's beloved adopted daughter - She's a three-in-one package deal, coming with her flesh whip, Henry, and her persona toxblade, Avenger's Muse, as well as herself - She's an excellent artist and will make our new colony look fabulous - She can socialise better than either Mechi or Kwahu can - Her comedian trait could help lighten moods in a new colony with good jokes - I love her

Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - She has her own luxury private condo in the current colony that she might be annoyed to leave - The Void is out to get her, and we don't need that energy following us to a new colony - Her comedian trait could bring down the mood in a new colony with bad jokes - We might run into her later

Alistair (First Appearance)

Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's Mechi and Kwahu's first android, and they'll miss him if they leave him behind - An android in a new colony is a free and easy mood buff - He's a master craftsman - He's a melee GOD - He's our current mechanoid mastermind (specialty ideological role) - He's a ray of sunshine - I love him

Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - If we don't end up bringing his girlfriend, Cora, he'll be sad - If we don't bring him, it's an excuse to make MORE androids - Having an android means we'll need to consistently set aside resources and time to replace his spent reactor every time it runs out of power - We might run into him later

Cora (First Appearance)

Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - An android in a new colony is a free and easy mood buff - She's an incredible gardener - She'll be an excellent help in mining for resources - She's composed and calm in most situations, which is very useful in a new colony - She's tidy and will help clean up faster as we build a new home - I love her

Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - If we don't end up bringing her boyfriend, Alistair, she'll be sad - If we don't bring her, it's an excuse to make MORE androids - Having an android means we'll need to consistently set aside resources and time to replace her spent reactor every time it runs out of power - We might run into her later

Marc-Daniel "Jut" Crowley (First Appearance)

Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's a superpowered vampire - He can explode people with his mind - He's not blind anymore - He's on the road to royalty - He's an excellent socialite - Being easily amused means he copes better in a stressful new colony - He's a melee GOD - He's French - I love him

Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - If we don't bring his wife and daughter, he'll be sad - He has the opportunity to be the last "royal" in our current colony (the throne room will be HIS at last!) - He has a fantastic deathrest chamber/hemogen setup already, why would he want to leave? - He's French - We might run into him later

Beau Foxgrove (First Appearance)

Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's an incredibly smart genie with fleshbeast-making powers - She can craft masterworks left, right, and centre - As our resident dark scholar, she is well-equipped to deal with anything the Void throws at us -I love her

Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - We've never used her fleshbeast powers, and I don't think we ever will - If we don't bring her husband and daughter, she'll be sad - Anything she can do, Mechi can already do - She's a delicate wimp, which isn't great for starting a new colony - We might run into her later

Danielle "Dani" Foxgrove (First Appearance)

Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's a bundle of unrealised potential - We don't know what fun/useful traits and skills she might grow up with - She's fun to draw - I love her

Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - She is only a child and might not be super useful as a member of a new colony - If we take her away from her superpowered creepjoiner parents, they might be mad at us - We might run into her later

Hemlock Tupelo (First Appearance)

Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's an incredible gardener and will definitely be useful in setting up a new colony - As a poluxkin, she will be invaluable in dealing with toxic wastepacks and pollution for any mechanitors we end up with - She's a very good doctor, and since she bleeds out slower than everyone else (sap blood), she could be especially useful in emergency triage situations - She's a fast learner, which is never bad - I love her

Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - She is already connected to the anima nexus tree at our current colony, and might not want to leave it (or her dryads) behind - There are still a LOT of wastepacks to be dealt with here - She can't help build or defend a new colony very well - We might run into her later

Mitja "Flapjack" Furlong (First Appearance)

Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's my brother's favourite colonist - Cool beard - He has the "natural" meditation focus type, so he has potential as a kickass psycaster if we find an anima tree for him - He's kind, which is always good - He's a fast learner, which is useful - Decent all-around skills (except in combat) - Is probably the most normal colonist we have at the moment, which might help balance out everyone else's eccentricities

Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - Kinda old - Not really a very exciting or instrumental colonist, all things considered - Did try to start a false ideology that one time, so I'm not sure I fully trust him - We might run into him later

Melissa Romanov (First Appearance)

Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's got unnatural healing, which has saved our butts more than once - Taukai powers are useful sometimes - She's fun to draw

Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - She's hideous - She's apparently started her own cult without me noticing?? - She's blind - She's super old - She put in no effort in the current colony and literally only showed up in the second-to-last update - She's polyamorous, which means she'll be sad if she's not dating at least two people at a time - We might run into her later

I really like this comic/Rimworld series, so I decided to make the Mechanitor's Message cast by @pushing500 in HeroForge!

First up is Mechi!

We got his classic shirt and duster combo here, as well as a side profile. I tried to get the nose and facial features as close to the drawings as possible with what HeroForge is capable of. Unfortunately HeroForge doesn't have a lot of long hair options that still show off the forehead, so this was as close as I could get.

Next is Mechi's fancy royal outfit complete with, gasp, shoes. Also he has his prosthetic arm and eye! (and the leg but it's not visible)

Then we got some casual versions of his outfit so I can show off the arm and leg prosthetics! He has a tattoo, but unfortunately HeroForge doesn't have a tech tattoo so it's just the curly vines one.

Double unfortunate that HeroForge doesn't have spine prosthetics, so I just picked the spine scar and colored it white. OK, Kwahu time!

This was really easy since I just had to make a copy of Mechi's outfits. We love clones here.

Ok so fair warning, Heroforge is not that great with making kid models (or maybe I just did something wrong)

There's no arm that's close to the thin Fleshwhip arm, so I had to get a bit creative.

And she's a teen already!!! Couldn't get the glasses that similar but oh well.

Best Boy Alistair

Not sure why the tips of his nose/ears/fingers have that purple tint, but oh well! Making him was so much fun, I love his eyes and freckles!!!

Gotta have him in these outfits, he looks so cool. Speaking of cool....

This dude's melee ability is insane!!! He's epic!!!

Nuh-uh! I've seen this before!! There will be no arcturan sky eel-induced heart attacks in this colony, no siree!

We will mine the sky steel for Ivy to make sculptures out of, though.

I wonder if Tokori likes all water, or just warm, soapy bathwater? I've never seen him swimming in the marshwater or using the hot tub. Maybe his obsession is more about the bath or the bubbles and less about the water.

I got distracted for a bit watching Dani. She's having a lovely day, being breastfed on a grand meditation throne and then playing horsies in Auntie Tupelo's bedroom (which is near the barn but not in the barn). As I was cooing over how sweet she is...

I got a notification that Cora awakened???

I don't know if something specific caused it, because unlike with Alistair, I hadn't directed her to do anything like drink coffee. She just... acquired sentience in the caves that are effectively our backyard!!

Whatever the case, we now have TWO sentient androids in our colony!! Cora got the 'composed' trait because I love the idea of a refined and ladylike android who could also hit a bullseye from 3,000 metres away. Welcome to the colony proper, Cora. You're going to be so loved ❤️❤️

Mechi and his intrepid crew have left the colony of Sparks in capable hands and set out to begin the first step in their journey to find The Archonexus.

Accompanied by Charlotte and Prudence the cats, Mechi's dog Othello, Belle the sheep and Rojo the neutrolope, the group has touched down in a boreal forest with a stunning Archotech structure just ripe for studying! Mechi has downed his first coffee, and we're ready to start building a new life for ourselves in Season 2 of A Mechanitor's Message!

We built a whole ritual chamber and did a fancy void provocation ritual... for another obelisk??? Not even a little peek of a flesh pit? A flesh heart? No unnatural corpses?? Just... an obelisk?

Phew, it's one we haven't seen before. I suppose that's something. The ritual wasn't a total bust, then.

In other news, our steel mining operation has uncovered something fascinating: an Ancient Danger! We're not going to open it just yet, but it's nice to know where it is in case we get bored again.

Ah, lovely. Boxes full of skulls. That's very reassuring.

A second fingerspike labyrinth guardian falls easily to Ivy's starving, recreation-deprived wrath.

In a desperate attempt to maintain sanity, Ivy fells the harbinger tree she's been sleeping under in order to build a bioferrite horseshoes pin and to choke down a few mouthfuls of twisted meat.

... Only to immediately find a meal a few rooms later. Such is life.

But it doesn't matter!! We've found the way out!! Say goodbye to this god-forsaken labyrinth, everyone. Three cheers for Ivy, Henry, and Avenger's Muse!! They did so well.

Mechi is eager to show off his success in bionic research to his dad and brag about his achievements in other fields as well! The ability to grow and brew his own coffee is, of course, the most important discovery he's made out here.

Lapu probably spent this whole time imagining his reclusive son curled up in a bunker deep in a mountain somewhere. The revelation that Mechi is royalty and lives in the lap of luxury was definitely not expected.

"Yeah, uh... There is one or two things you need to catch up on. Just little things, I swear. Like, uh... congratulations on your four new sons? 😅"

Ta-dah! Betcha weren't expecting that plot twist, eh, Lapu?

And here's your void-cursed granddaughter, your android grandchildren, and our friendly neighbourhood French vampire with mind-exploding powers and a tentacle. Lots of new names to remember, you'll get it eventually, I'm sure.

I think that, in the end, Lapu is very relieved to see his boy again. So relieved, in fact, that the nightmares he's been plagued by since his days as an army sergeant have completely vanished! That's so sweet. He might have a gruff exterior (abrasive trait), but deep down he was very worried about his boy ❤️❤️

We've got six void sculptures in our fancy ritual chamber, and Ivy's done such a good job making them all unique and unsettling in their own special way. The last one is even a masterwork!

Now our rituals will be cooler than ever, especially if we build shard beacons too!

An ordinary morning in the colony very quickly turns into an ALL HANDS ON DECK situation as we finally, finally get a message from a member of Mechi's long-lost immediate family.

No time to wait, everyone to the transport pods!! We've got an urgent rescue mission to carry out!!

Hold on, Mechi's Dad. We're coming to save you!

I appreciate these three vampires calling ahead of time to ask if they can come hang out at our hotel that is named "friendship castle". Very polite of them.

I also love watching Dani giggling at the visual effects of the sanguophage meeting. I suppose if any toddler was going to be unfazed by glowing eyes in the dark, it would be the daughter of a disturbing sanguophage cult escapee and a formerly hostile genie dark scholar.

As nice as it is to get a deathrest capacity serum and some uranium from the visiting sanguophages, my favourite reward was actually the blood torch they left behind. I think Jut likes it, too.

Tokori and Ivy have reunited in the hospital, and Tokori has decided to stay with us! Hooray for the return of the long-lost necromancer baby brother!!

I bet Tokori is so proud of how well Ivy's grown up. Wait until he finds out that Jut has eyes (and a wife and a daughter!!) and that Alistair can talk!

The other Jones boys don't waste any time gossiping about their triplet's choice to have short hair in the boreal forest. Are you really siblings if you're not snarking about each other's fashion choices, though?

I've been letting Alistair help with the animals around the colony since he gained a minor passion for it after he awakened. He likes having strange conversations with our housekeeper cat, Macbeth. It's funny to watch.

The trend of things falling from the sky continues after the noctoliths that almost killed Ivy. Fortunately, this little guy didn't hit anyone on his way down, and I've set him to be tamed ASAP because he's adorable and I love him.

But in answer to Beau's question of "when will it stop"...

... please, Mr. The Void, I don't have enough hairstyle mods to accommodate new clones...

Phew! It's only a twisted obelisk. No risk of any new clones anytime soon, then. We'll just have to keep an eye out for fleshmass organs and strange tentacles, and perhaps our harbinger grove will expand. That's alright. We can handle that.

Told ya he has weird conversations with the cat. I wonder what the connection between authoritarianism and authoritarianism is? I can't think of anything they'd have in common.

⚠️ ALL HANDS ON DECK!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!! BABY CREEPJOINER'S ARRIVAL IS IMMINENT!! ⚠️

We have our best doctors on scene and Jut is right here by his wife's side. You know it's serious because Mechi put his hair up for it! We can't risk any problems!

Congratulations on the birth of a healthy baby girl!! She is a baseliner, so it looks like she hasn't inherited Mum's genie genes or Dad's sanguophage genes, but that's alright. Maybe dad will turn her when she's older, who knows?

I knew Baby's hair colour was going to be a surprise, given that both her parents are bald, but I confess I wasn't expecting a green and purple gradient.

Baby Creepjoiner takes both her parents' names, named Danielle (Dani for short) after her father Marc-Daniel, and using her mother's surname. She's a lovely little girl, and her parents are delighted with her.

Jut took Dani for a walk after Beau had fed her, probably to introduce himself properly and make sure Beau got some well-earned rest. It's been a long day, but we have a beautiful new baby to show for it and the whole colony is better for it, I think.

Welcome to the world, Dani. We've been so excited to meet you! <3

Alistair is having a grand time with his newfound sentience. He's been learning to play the harpsichord in the throne room, relaxing in the sauna (even though I'm fairly certain he lacks the ability to sweat), delving into Ivy's yaoi collection with Kwahu as a reading-buddy, and never straying too far from the luxury that is the Jones boys' coffee stash.

Of course, he is still the same old hardworking Alistair, and his efforts have paid off in the form of our brand-new android colonist! Everybody, meet Cora!!

She's very cute :3

Unlike Alistair, Cora has been programmed with an exceptional shooting ability, as well as plant skill instead of his crafting skill. She will be our hunter/gatherer mostly, and I'm very excited to see where the story takes her!!

Remember back when we were doing a whole bunch of mysterious brain scans? Well, Alistair is using the persona subcore we got from those scans to build himself a new android friend. I want to see if the "surrounded by androids" mood buff stacks, and androids are very cool in general, so why not?

In between working and clearing memory space at his standing spot, I sent him over to grab a cup of coffee. I always try to keep his mood up; you never know what might be the catalyst for his awakening.

But, you know... he was built by the Jones boys, after all. Of course it was coffee.

Anyway, he's awake!! My boy is sentient at last!!!!!! Welcome to life with clarity and a sense of self, Alistair. We've been waiting for you for so long. He's got the "muscular" trait which means people think he's nice to look at (and by people I mean me), and my Sexuality Traits mod has also decided he's bisexual, which is nice.

I'm so giddy and excited to have him awake at last, and just in time for a new android to join us!! This is so cool!!!!!

We tried one last resort to make Chow-Down, the former wild child, more likeable, but it didn't work. He's just too stubborn.

That's alright, we shipped him out with a faun lady who joined us after the trade caravan she was with abandoned her when she fainted at the sight of our mechanoids. She'll probably be happier far away from robots, and we'll definitely be happier without Chow-Down to annoy us.

Ivy has found a much nicer way to enjoy the water than by splashing in the marsh outside. We're getting started on building a hotel to see if we can get a jumpstart on pushing the wealth up ready for the next step of our Archonexus quest, and one part of that hotel is this nice hot tub room. It seems to have the Ivy Seal of Approval, which is always nice!

Speaking of Ivy, I realised she has been unarmed this whole time and relying on Henry for all of her melee damage. That had to be remedied at once, so when a persona toxblade named Avenger's Muse with some pretty decent traits crash-landed in a cargo pod, we couldn't refuse!

And finally, the most exciting event of all!!! Our lovestruck creepjoiners have decided that they're going to tie the knot soon!!

Ivy drags Kwahu back to the hospital to have his eel-induced heart attack tended to, while Alistair helps put Cora back together after she got too close to a manhunting eel. Apparently, the tenderness of painstakingly welding your fellow android back together is sending up more sparks than just the ones from the welding torch!!

I love having cute couples in my colonies!! Look at themmmm ❤️❤️

While Mechi recovers from the plague and Kwahu recovers from his heart attack, Randy Random sends an apology for last time in the form of... an imminent season finale??

... and then, just as I was getting ready to set up the "away team" polls, we got a last-minute colony addition. Melissa, our very first creepjoiner, showed up out of the blue juuuust in time to try and sneak her way into the next colony. We'll just have to wait and see what the vote says~
