Hey, I'm Gracie (she/her)! This is a blog for all my original artwork, like character designs, comics, and that sort of thing. If you tell me your favourite characters, I'll try to draw them for you! I also have a fanart blog! If you're interested, it can be found at @potpourrifandoms
Don't wanna be here? Send us removal request.
Note
if Ivy calls the jones boys by their first names does that mean she calls their dad Lapu instead of grandpa or gramps or something? she should have a fun nickname for him

Ivy has permission to call Lapu "Pappy", but only because Dani started it by calling him "Papi".
wanna see more interaction between these two? vote in the poll to make it happen!
#asks#rimworld#gracie plays#A Mechanitor's Message#art#my art#traditional art#rimworld art#unpolished art#I did debate for a while about having her just call him Lapu#but I think he would secretly be delighted at being addressed as a grandparent#and with Dani's bilingual upbringing she defaults to Papi#and Ivy picks it up but with less of the accent#so he gets Papi and Pappy#I'm sure it grates on Jut's nerves to hear Ivy say Pappy#but that just adds to the fun lmao#thanks for the ask!!#have an awesome day <3 <3 <3

Have you voted in the second-to-last Mechanitor's Message Poll yet? Don't miss your chance!
Here's some art inspired by a headcanon generator to perhaps influence your vote (or not)

Tokori is a menace, and I love him to bits

Lapu could definitely survive the Hunger Games, both as a newly enlisted teen and as an irritable veteran.

Alistair has your back if you commit crimes. Good to know.

Cora hasn't showered ever. That's not even a headcanon, that's just canon. She has swum in the stagnant marsh water, though, if that counts?

HELL YEAH JUT!! Who knew this was hiding under those robes all that time?

The headcanon generator wants us to pay attention to the footwear situation in the Crowley-Foxgrove marriage, and I'm all for it.

She just has really bad luck and is also four years old, so losing at UNO is understandable. It's still banned, though.

Tupelo is not allowed near the Jones Boys' car

Flapjack dark backstory lore... who knew he was such a hardened criminal??

If I were almost 70 and also blind, I bet I'd be pretty rubbish with a smartphone, too.
Don't forget to vote in the poll!
#rimworld#gracie plays#A Mechanitor's Message#art#my art#traditional art#rimworld art#unpolished art#headcanon generator#gracie using her powers for evil#I could just declare all this as canon couldn't I? 🤔#But for now you may do with it what you like#don't miss out on your chance to vote!#I wonder if my brother will cease his Flapjack support#now that we know Flapjack is a CRIMINAL#a thief in our midst#how awful#have a lovely day y'all <3 <3

Season 2 Finale Poll: Part 3

Ivy has correctly deduced that she's invited to join Mechi and Kwahu in search of the Archonexus. They've grown way too attached to their little girl to leave her behind after all this time! This also means we'll have a nice book collection for recreation at our new colony—even if most of it is smut. We'll probably bring Kwahu's garbage quality bible too, and all the other books Ivy can carry.
Now that we have three people selected (and also Henry the flesh-whip and Avenger's Muse the persona toxblade), there are only two spots left on the shuttle to wherever our next colony may be. Two spots, and ten colonists to choose from. How are we supposed to narrow it down?? 😥
... with another poll, of course! Poll 3/4! Once again, here are skillsets and some for and against ideas for each potential colonist:
Tokori Jones (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's one of Mechi and Kwahu's most trusted confidants, and they'll definitely feel much better having him around for a new colony - The Void wants Ivy dead, and Tokori (a kickass necromancer with nine fingers left in case of emergencies) is currently the only person able to fix things if The Void succeeds - He's a mechanitor, and it's always good to have more mechanitors - As he doesn't hold a royal title, he isn't going to complain if he doesn't have a throne room immediately - He isn't addicted to caffeine, so we don't need to worry about managing that as we set up a new colony - He has a detoxifier kidney and a detoxifier lung, which will be useful if we happen upon any pollution or toxic environments in our new home - Would you really leave a recluse back in a busy castle with seven other people? - Now that Mechi, Kwahu, and Ivy are all leaving, he'll feel pretty abandoned and forgotten if we leave him with no brothers or daughters to keep him company - He's a first aid expert, and there can never be too many of those on the rim - I love him
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - Mechi already has the mechanitor/psycaster bases covered by himself - He looks the same as Mechi and Kwahu, so it's not like we'd be missing out on a particularly unique character design - He loves the bath, so we'll be rushed off our feet to get hot water and fully plumbed bathrooms ASAP in our new colony - We might run into him later
Sergeant Lapu Jones (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's Mechi (and Kwahu)'s long-lost father! - He's Ivy's grandpa! - Having an iron-willed night owl in a new colony would be extremely useful for getting lots of work done around the clock without worrying about mental breaks - He's probably very anxious to see his wife and daughter (Mechi's mum and sister) again, so he'd like to tag along with Mechi since he's who they're looking for - Two out of three of his reunited/newly-discovered sons are going, and he'd be gutted if he lost his son(s) for a second time - His newly-discovered granddaughter is going, and he's barely even had the chance to get to know her yet - I love him
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - He's not as young as he used to be - Now that he knows Mechi is alive and well, he might feel more comfortable hanging around in a fortified castle instead of trekking around the planet - His abrasive personality is not going to be particularly helpful in braving uncharted territory - Has no artificial enhancements and is sad about it - We might run into him later
Alistair (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's Mechi and Kwahu's first android, and they'll miss him if they leave him behind - An android in a new colony is a free and easy mood buff - He's a master craftsman - He's a melee GOD - He's our current mechanoid mastermind (specialty ideological role) - He's a ray of sunshine - I love him
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - If we don't end up bringing his girlfriend, Cora, he'll be sad - If we don't bring him, it's an excuse to make MORE androids - Having an android means we'll need to consistently set aside resources and time to replace his spent reactor every time it runs out of power - We might run into him later
Cora (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - An android in a new colony is a free and easy mood buff - She's an incredible gardener - She'll be an excellent help in mining for resources - She's composed and calm in most situations, which is very useful in a new colony - She's tidy and will help clean up faster as we build a new home - Ivy might need a gal-pal in our new colony - I love her
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - If we don't end up bringing her boyfriend, Alistair, she'll be sad - If we don't bring her, it's an excuse to make MORE androids - Having an android means we'll need to consistently set aside resources and time to replace her spent reactor every time it runs out of power - We might run into her later
Marc-Daniel "Jut" Crowley (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's a superpowered vampire - He can explode people with his mind - He's not blind anymore - He's on the road to royalty - He's an excellent socialite - Being easily amused means he copes better in a stressful new colony - He's a melee GOD - He's French - I love him
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - If we don't bring his wife and daughter, he'll be sad - He has the opportunity to be the last "royal" in our current colony (the throne room will be HIS at last!) - He has a fantastic deathrest chamber/hemogen setup already, why would he want to leave? - He's French - We might run into him later
Beau Foxgrove (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's an incredibly smart genie with fleshbeast-making powers - She can craft masterworks left, right, and centre - As our resident dark scholar, she is well-equipped to deal with anything the Void throws at us - Ivy might need a gal-pal in our new colony - I love her
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - We've never used her fleshbeast powers, and I don't think we ever will - If we don't bring her husband and daughter, she'll be sad - Anything she can do, Mechi, Kwahu, and Ivy can already do (except the fleshbeast thing but, again, we've never used it) - She's a delicate wimp, which isn't great for starting a new colony - We might run into her later
Danielle "Dani" Foxgrove (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's a bundle of unrealised potential - We don't know what fun/useful traits and skills she might grow up with - She's fun to draw - Ivy might need a gal-pal in our new colony - I love her
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - She is only a child and might not be super useful as a member of a new colony - If we take her away from her superpowered creepjoiner parents, they might be mad at us - We might run into her later
Hemlock Tupelo (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's an incredible gardener and will definitely be useful in setting up a new colony - As a poluxkin, she will be invaluable in dealing with toxic wastepacks and pollution for any mechanitors we end up with - She's a very good doctor, and since she bleeds out slower than everyone else (sap blood), she could be especially useful in emergency triage situations - She's a fast learner, which is never bad - Ivy might need a gal-pal in our new colony - I love her
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - She is already connected to the anima nexus tree at our current colony, and might not want to leave it (or her dryads) behind - There are still a LOT of wastepacks to be dealt with here - She can't help build or defend a new colony very well - We might run into her later
Mitja "Flapjack" Furlong (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's my brother and (apparently) my mother's favourite colonist - Cool beard - He has the "natural" meditation focus type, so he has potential as a kickass psycaster if we find an anima tree for him - He's kind, which is always good - He's a fast learner, which is useful - Decent all-around skills (except in combat) - Is probably the most normal colonist we have at the moment, which might help balance out everyone else's eccentricities
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - Kinda old - Not really a very exciting or instrumental colonist, all things considered I've been informed this is "slander", so we'll just say he could stand to be more interesting - Did try to start a false ideology that one time, so I'm not sure I fully trust him - We might run into him later
Melissa Romanov (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's got unnatural healing, which has saved our butts more than once - Taukai powers are useful sometimes - Ivy might need a gal-pal in our new colony - She's fun to draw
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - She's hideous - She's apparently started her own cult without me noticing?? - She's blind - She's super old - She put in no effort in the current colony and literally only showed up in the second-to-last update - She's polyamorous, which means she'll be sad if she's not dating at least two people at a time - We might run into her later
The time has come to fill the second-to-last spot in the new colony! Who will join us? You be the judge!

If you haven't voted in the latest Mechanitor's Message "Away Team" Poll, please don't forget!
While I'm waiting for RimWorld poll results, I've been looking over some of my OCs and decided that, since this blog was originally a place I could come and ramble about them, I would ramble about them for a little while.
Beware! Not-RimWorld-Stuff beyond this point:
One of the things I did back in 2022, when I first started posting to this blog, was use an OC question generator and a random selector to develop my characters a bit more. There's Gale, Ziggy (Also seen here), Marvin, Lance, and Queen Yelda so far. That particular question generator doesn't work anymore, but I found a new one that does, and decided to use it for inspiration to draw some of my OCs for the first time in aaages.

The first one selected was Bautiste, who is one of my edgy half-vampire OCs from 2015.
The Berardi Clan does full names a bit differently, as each brother takes a middle name from the brother immediately before them. So, Bautiste uses Savio's name as his middle name (Bautiste Savio Berardi), and after Bautiste is Alonzo, whose full name is Alonzo Bautiste Berardi. This works for everyone except the eldest brother, who uses their dad's name as a middle name (so he's called Antioco Emiliano Berardi), and the 50th half-vampire, Margarita, who uses the feminine form of Eduardo's name (so she's Margarita Eduarda Berardi) to match her preferred gender identity.
I didn't have any other pictures of Bautiste that I could find, but I do have drawings of his immediate older brother, Savio, since he's one of the 15 (16 if we count ███████) who survived until the modern era. So, in the absence of more Bautiste drawings, you get to look at Savio <3

Savio works the graveyard shift at a corner store, and his favourite customer is a regular named Caleb who hasn't quite caught on to the fact that the polite and out-of-touch cashier is a vampire.

King Draven is the King of the Elven Dark Faeries (as opposed to the Merfolk Dark Faeries or the Elven Fire Faeries, etc.), and he likes to keep out of the spotlight. He has his wife Queen Esma of the Elven Music Faeries and his husband King Emric of the Elven Air Faeries to do all that socialising, public-relations nonsense for him.
I've drawn these three together once before that I could find:

And I've also drawn Queen Esma before for OC-Tober in 2022. They're a fun bunch, and I love 'em all <3
The rest of the OC-Tober drawings are here: 1- Queen Esma (see above link) 2- Blackout and Jordan 3- K and Aten 4- The Dark King and Queen Zahirah 5- Ziggy (again haha) and Kaz 6- Aurelio
(I didn't get very far, but I'd like to try it again sometime. Maybe this year, who knows?)
Anyway I think I'll stop myself there for now. I could sit and talk about these guys forever and ever and ever if I was allowed to, but I'll spare you that nonsense. Here's links to the last two OC posts on my OC blog: a random assortment of OCs I doodled while I was bored, and an ask I somehow managed to twist into an OC ask.
Once more, don't forget to vote in the RimWorld Poll!!

Season 2 Finale Poll: Part 2

Once again, the first person selected to join Mechi on his journey towards the Archonexus is his loyal twin, Kwahu. The two of them have been together for so long now that it would seem outrageous to separate them, and they're both relieved to have each other on their journey.
It's now time for Away Team Vote 2/4! This one, I'm less sure I know what the outcome is going to be, and I'm excited to find out who y'all would like to see coming along for the ride! Once again, here are skillsets and some for and against ideas for each colonist:
Tokori Jones (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's one of Mechi's most trusted confidants, and Mechi would definitely feel much better having him around for a new colony - He's a kickass necromancer with nine fingers left in case of emergencies - He's a mechanitor, and it's always good to have more mechanitors - As he doesn't hold a royal title, he isn't going to complain if he doesn't have a throne room immediately - He isn't addicted to caffeine, so we don't need to worry about managing that as we set up a new colony - He has a detoxifier kidney and a detoxifier lung, which will be useful if we happen upon any pollution or toxic environments in our new home - Would you really leave a recluse back in a busy castle with seven other people? - Now that Mechi and Kwahu are both leaving, he'll feel pretty abandoned and forgotten if we go without him - He's a first aid expert, and there can never be too many of those on the rim - I love him

Ivy Jones (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's Mechi and Kwahu's beloved adopted daughter - She's a three-in-one package deal, coming with her flesh whip, Henry, and her persona toxblade, Avenger's Muse, as well as herself - She's an excellent artist and will make our new colony look fabulous - She can socialise better than either Mechi or Kwahu can - Her comedian trait could help lighten moods in a new colony with good jokes - I love her
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - She has her own luxury private condo in the current colony that she might be annoyed to leave - The Void is out to get her, and we don't need that energy following us to a new colony - Her comedian trait could bring down the mood in a new colony with bad jokes - We might run into her later

I decided to have a look at some of the 1.6 and Odyssey features while I wait for poll results (go vote if you haven't!) for A Mechanitor's Message. I couldn't really think of an idea for a colony, so I made a bunch of pawns inspired by the title screen characters from each DLC to see how they get along...
... and on day 1, Royalty Guy and Ideology Lady decided to become a couple. So I guess that means we get on well enough!
Biotech Guy is such a tired dad. I love him so much.
Odyssey Guy and Biotech Guy get along pretty well, too. Odyssey Guy is researching ✨batteries✨!
A panther tried to eat Royalty Guy, which wasn't very nice of it. Luckily, we dealt with it easily, and now we have fresh meat to cook!
Odyssey Guy goes to sleep gazing lovingly at his vacsuit every night. He dreams of gravships and exploring the stars, I'm sure. I like these new outfit stands. They're so cool!
Botech Guy and Anomaly Lady had a friendly discussion about horns. Maybe impid horns, maybe trying to think of Void creatures with horns... who knows? I'm just glad they get along.
Speaking of the Void, Anomaly Lady's pet sightstealer spontaneously combusted (it was a zzzt event, but spontaneous combustion is a more fun explanation).
This fishing mechanic is making me laugh way harder than the Vanilla Fishing Expanded mod ever did. Poor Ideology Lady. She's okay, but it has happened three times now, and she keeps coming back for more. Resilient or just stupid? You be the judge.
Biotech Guy doesn't seem to care about the looming threat of piranha bites. Maybe he thinks piranhas don't eat impids? He might be right. He's never been bitten.
These DLC characters are horny, damn! I guess Biotech Guy and Odyssey Guy are a thing now. Poor Anomaly Lady. All alone with Biotech Baby and a Sightstealer... must be lonely.
She has unhealthy ways to cope with being the only single adult colonist. She lost the fight, but I don't think it'll take her too long to try again. These two hate each other.
Royalty Guy tries to help with Biotech Baby, but neither of them seems to enjoy it. Maybe leave the childcare to Biotech Dad, hey, buddy?
Odyssey Guy is better at childcare. He's been trying to get the dog used to seeing Biotech Baby around; it's very sweet.
Behold my first gravship!! It's not very fancy, and it's also not finished yet, but I think Odyssey Guy will enjoy hopping around doing quests with it until we've got one big enough to take the whole gang along.
So far I rate 1.6 and the Odyssey DLC 10/10!! I love the new mechanics, the flooding was so cool, the new animals are adorable, I love watching my colonists get bitten by piranhas, and I can't wait to discover more.
Last reminder to vote in the poll if you haven't yet!
#rimworld#gracie plays#it's just called “The Colony”#they're lots of fun#their actual names are:#Freeholder Reginald “Roy” Alty#Ida O'Logy#Bo Tzekk and Baby Tzekk#Anne O'Malley#and of course#Oskar “Odie” Cee#and the yorkshire terrier is named Victor#I have yet to tame a crow for Odyssey Guy#because he has one in the image#he does have a boomalope and a peacock and a rhino that self-tamed though#so I mean#that's something#almost a crow#his main quest will probably end up being to get a pet crow tbh#anyway#I like this new DLC so far#don't forget to vote in the poll please! <3 <3#I can't wait to see who we're taking to the Archonexus#have an amazing day!!!#long post

Season 2 Finale Poll: Part 1
The time has come again to narrow down our colony to the five who will carry on the torch to the next stage of our quest to find the Archonexus.
This time, the choice may be even more difficult than last time. Instead of choosing five out of ten colonists, we have to choose five out of thirteen! An unlucky number indeed.
For what it's worth, I promise that anybody left behind will be added to the "Ally" list from the Reunion mod I'm using, so we will have a higher chance of meeting them again. Still, it doesn't make the choice any easier 😢
Once again, the first member of our "away team" has already been decided. Mechi is technically the main character of this story, after all, so he is coming along for sure! The question is, which four of his twelve fellow colony members will accompany him to new horizons?
I'm going to include a picture of each colonist's bio to show their skills, traits, special abilities, royal titles and such, like so:
Additionally, a list of reasons for and against their inclusion in the crew will be provided, along with a link to their first appearance in the story. At the end of this post is a poll to choose the first person to accompany us, and then there will be three more polls afterwards. Let the games begin!
Praetor Kwahu Jones (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's one of Mechi's oldest and most trusted confidants, and Mechi would definitely feel much better having him around for a new colony - He's a kickass lightning wizard - He's a mechanitor, and it's always good to have more mechanitors - He's the moral guide for our ideology - He's a praetor, and it's always nice to have access to more royal permits - Would you really leave a recluse back in a busy castle with seven other people? - Can't draw Mechi's "Ctrl+C" shirt without Kwahu's "Ctrl+V" shirt to match it - I love him
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - Mechi already has the mechanitor/praetor/psycaster bases covered all by himself - He looks the same as Mechi, so it's not like we'd be missing out on a particularly unique character design - Addicted to caffeine, which means we need to provide for TWO addicts in a new colony - More praetors means we need to build more grand meditation thrones (or the boys will whine), which means we need a LOT of gold - We might run into him later
- There's no fourth Jones brother for him to stay behind for this time - He's a first aid expert, and there can never be too many of those on the rim - I love him
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - Mechi already has the mechanitor/psycaster bases covered by himself - He looks the same as Mechi, so it's not like we'd be missing out on a particularly unique character design - He loves the bath, so we'll be rushed off our feet to get hot water and fully plumbed bathrooms ASAP in our new colony - We might run into him later
Sergeant Lapu Jones (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's Mechi's long-lost father! - Having an iron-willed night owl in a new colony would be extremely useful for getting lots of work done around the clock without worrying about mental breaks - He's probably very anxious to see his wife and daughter (Mechi's mum and sister) again, so he'd like to tag along with Mechi since he's who they're looking for - I love him
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - He's not as young as he used to be - Now that he knows Mechi is alive and well, he might feel more comfortable hanging around in a fortified castle instead of trekking around the planet - His abrasive personality is not going to be particularly helpful in braving uncharted territory - Has no artificial enhancements and is sad about it - We might run into him later
Ivy Jones (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's Mechi's beloved adopted daughter - She's a three-in-one package deal, coming with her flesh whip, Henry, and her persona toxblade, Avenger's Muse, as well as herself - She's an excellent artist and will make our new colony look fabulous - She can socialise where Mechi can't - Her comedian trait could help lighten moods in a new colony with good jokes - I love her
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - She has her own luxury private condo in the current colony that she might be annoyed to leave - The Void is out to get her, and we don't need that energy following us to a new colony - Her comedian trait could bring down the mood in a new colony with bad jokes - We might run into her later
Alistair (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's Mechi's first android, and we don't want him left behind - An android in a new colony is a free and easy mood buff - He's a master craftsman - He's a melee GOD - He's our current mechanoid mastermind (specialty ideological role) - He's a ray of sunshine - I love him
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - If we don't end up bringing his girlfriend, Cora, he'll be sad - If we don't bring him, it's an excuse to make MORE androids - Having an android means we'll need to consistently set aside resources and time to replace his spent reactor every time it runs out of power - We might run into him later
Cora (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - An android in a new colony is a free and easy mood buff - She's an incredible gardener - She'll be an excellent help in mining for resources - She's composed and calm in most situations, which is very useful in a new colony - She's tidy and will help clean up faster as we build a new home - I love her
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - If we don't end up bringing her boyfriend, Alistair, she'll be sad - If we don't bring her, it's an excuse to make MORE androids - Having an android means we'll need to consistently set aside resources and time to replace her spent reactor every time it runs out of power - We might run into her later
Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's an incredibly smart genie with fleshbeast-making powers - She can craft masterworks left, right, and centre - As our resident dark scholar, she is well-equipped to deal with anything the Void throws at us -I love her
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - We've never used her fleshbeast powers, and I don't think we ever will - If we don't bring her husband and daughter, she'll be sad - Anything she can do, Mechi can already do - She's a delicate wimp, which isn't great for starting a new colony - We might run into her later
Danielle "Dani" Foxgrove (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's a bundle of unrealised potential - We don't know what fun traits or skills she might grow up with - She's fun to draw - I love her
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - She is only a child and might not be super useful as a member of a new colony - If we take her away from her superpowered parents, they might be mad at us - We might run into her later
Hemlock Tupelo (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's an incredible gardener and will definitely be useful in setting up a new colony - As a poluxkin, she will be invaluable in dealing with toxic wastepacks and pollution for any mechanitors we end up with - She's a very good doctor, and since she bleeds out slower than everyone else (sap blood), she could be especially useful in emergency triage situations - She's a fast learner which is never bad - I love her
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - She is already connected to the anima nexus tree at our current colony, and might not want to leave - There are still a LOT of wastepacks to be dealt with here - She can't help build or defend a new colony very well - We might run into her later
Mitja "Flapjack" Furlong (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Him: - He's my brother's favourite colonist - Cool beard - I've only realised TODAY that he has the "natural" meditation focus type, so he has potential as a kickass psycaster if we find an anima tree for him - He's kind, which is always good -He's a fast learner, which is useful - Decent all-around skills (except in combat)
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Him: - Kinda old - Did try to start a false ideology that one time, so I don't trust him - We might run into him later
Melissa Romanov (First Appearance)
Reasons FOR Bringing Her: - She's got unnatural healing, which has saved our butts more than once - Taukai powers are useful sometimes - She's fun to draw
Reasons AGAINST Bringing Her: - She's hideous - She's apparently started her own cult without me noticing?? - She's blind - She's super old - She put in no effort in the current colony and literally only showed up last update - She's polyamorous, which means she'll be sad if she's not dating at least two people at a time - We might run into her later

Ivy drags Kwahu back to the hospital to have his eel-induced heart attack tended to, while Alistair helps put Cora back together after she got too close to a manhunting eel. Apparently, the tenderness of painstakingly welding your fellow android back together is sending up more sparks than just the ones from the welding torch!!

I love having cute couples in my colonies!! Look at themmmm ❤️❤️

While Mechi recovers from the plague and Kwahu recovers from his heart attack, Randy Random sends an apology for last time in the form of... an imminent season finale??

... and then, just as I was getting ready to set up the "away team" polls, we got a last-minute colony addition. Melissa, our very first creepjoiner, showed up out of the blue juuuust in time to try and sneak her way into the next colony. We'll just have to wait and see what the vote says~

Look, bear, I understand that it's winter and you're hungry, but you really shouldn't attack our necromancer while his extremely protective family is within shooting range...
... Oh, well. At least we get a good amount of meat out of this situation. That'll add some extra protein to the nutrient paste.

Randy Random is not pleased that his attempt to cut down the colony numbers with a bear didn't work, so he swings again: this time with a nasty outbreak of the plague.
Unfortunately for Randy, we buy glitterworld medicine at every opportunity, and the Jones boys are doctors, so this is an easy situation to deal with.

Of course, now that we've bested two consecutive attempts at population control, Randy tries a third time. The arcturan sky eels from the strange meteorite a while back have all suddenly gone manhunter. Angry electric space eels should be easy for a lightning wizard like Kwahu to deal with, right?

OH SHIT OH SHIT
IVY! ALISTAIR! CORA! QUICKLY!!
Go get him!! I'd really hate for Tokori to have to lose another finger because a bunch of fucking eels gave his brother a heart attack 😭

Lapu is settling in well at Château de Amitié. He's been exploring the base and seems especially fond of the chessboard in the courtyard. He even plays chess when he's alone, and in the snow!

He takes Dani for school lessons sometimes. Seeing as he has raised two (now five) intelligent children of his own, I think he makes a very good teacher.

I bet he snores super loud. It's a grandpa rite-of-passage ❤️❤️
Dani likes Ivy's new house as much as Ivy does, by the look of it. It's probably like hanging out with your cool older cousin who lets you do whatever you want. So cute!!

Mechi continues his crusade of finding new and interesting pets by taming an itsy-bitsy spider who is now named Arty. I don't usually like spiders, but this one is so freakin' fluffy and adorable that I can't help but "aww" over him

Have been playing for years, but I am dipping my toes into Vanilla Androids for the first time now, because of your blog posts. I am curious, what builds does the colonys two androids have?
I haven't really played much with custom xenotypes and such in RimWorld, so please don't judge me too harshly if these are badly-designed lmao 😅
Alistair and Cora are designed the same way, with the only variations being the skills they're good at or incapable of. They're both allergic to solar flares and EMPs. I meant to make Cora 'cold-resistant' (since she was built in the boreal forest, unlike Alistair, who was built in the desert), but I forgot to, so she ended up heat-resistant like he is. That's alright. Maybe they're just Australian like me!
#asks#rimworld#gracie plays#A Mechanitor's Message#xenotypes are fun#maybe I SHOULD play with custom ones more often#perhaps once I start playing with Odyssey#we'll see#I hope my androids aren't too silly#either way I like them#they're good lil' guys <3#thanks for the ask!!#have an amazing day!! xoxo

Mechi is having such a good time since he got his dad back that he now has a giant prehistoric boar-thing as a pet. Her name is Chocolate, and she is a very good girl.

Alistair is taking advantage of an unseasonally warm day to test if he's waterproof using the stagnant marshwater around the colony. Thankfully, he is waterproof, or this could have been disastrous. Alistair is gonna love being able to swim with 1.6 if I can get it working with this save file.

Over the past few quadrums, Tokori has been enjoying himself working to restore an old car wreck we found on the map. After a long time of tinkering and fiddling, it's finally complete!
She's called Lightning and she's Tokori's baby ❤️

Been living the rimworld life vicariously through Mechi and company for a while while I rest from the game and based on your stories I was wondering what difficulty you play on. It seems pretty chill compared to my pathological need to turn up the threat slider. I recently figured out that 500% is a bit much with Combat Extended installed. Managed to get both my hussar's eyes shot out like two months into the next playthrough too. Sorry, colonists.
Thank you for enjoying the stories!
My colonies are very chill usually. I'm playing on Randy Random with the Adventure Story setting. It's easier to come up with fun stories when I'm not fighting for survival every two minutes, plus it's much easier to draw comics when the colonists are just having a cozy day in the garden or the workshop instead of shooing off raiders and such.
I'm always so awed when people play on 500%. They're so good at the game!! I just build pretty houses and smile fondly when my colonists make small talk. Someday, I should try playing a harder challenge, though something tells me the story would be much more tragic than any of the ones I've done so far. I think I'd cry if I had to draw any of my colonists getting their eyes shot out...
#asks#rimworld#gracie plays#A Mechanitor's Message#I am not actually particularly good at rimworld I don't think#I just like drawing and it makes for fun stories to draw#perhaps I should push myself more than just “adventure story” though#raise the stakes a bit#we'll see how it goes after I'm done this story#thanks for the ask!!#have an amazing day <3 <3 <3

It's Dani's birthday!!! She's officially three years old and a proper, real-life colony member! Obviously, we let her stay, and we're going to let her run around and enjoy herself as much as she likes. No child labour in this castle, no siree!

Dani celebrated her birthday with a birthday bubble bath, no doubt having the time of her life. Lots of people in this colony enjoy baths, but I get the feeling Dani mostly inherited the trait from her father...

Like father, like daughter! You love to see it ❤️
For Dani's birthday present, we kicked Ivy out of her bedroom and renovated it completely so Dani can finally have her own space now that she's too big for her crib.
"But what about Ivy??" I hear you ask. Worry not! She is well taken care of by her doting fathers (and newfound grandfather).

Ivy now has her very own house, complete with her own bathroom, bedroom, rec room, nutrient paste supply, room for her art bench and yaoi collection, and even a spot for her cat, Prudence. She's earned it after putting up with so much nonsense from the Void and from the Ancient Danger recently.

How does Lapu feel about the clones? It must be very strange; they're simultaneously Mechi *and* strangers.

If Mechi says they're his brothers, then Lapu shrugs and accepts them as his sons. There's nothing they can do about it. It might feel weird for him, sure, but he's not about to make it their problem. They're his kids, and he's gonna look after 'em.
#asks#rimworld#gracie plays#A Mechanitor's Message#art#my art#traditional art#rimworld art#unpolished art#Lapu isn't about to turn his back on a good thing#he came here in search of one lost son#and came out the other side with three found sons (and one lost one — damn u Lansa)#who'd complain about good fortune like that?#not Lapu Jones that's for sure#if he can adjust to life on a new planet after centuries in cryptosleep he can adjust to more kids#he's a tough guy#and despite his gruff and abrasive manner#he really does love his family#where do you think Mechi gets it from after all?#thanks for the ask!!#have an awesome day xoxo

Good evening. Do you think it's incest if Rimworld clones date each other? Not the Jones boys specifically, because they clearly see each other as brothers. I mean clones in general.

The Jones boys would certainly consider it incest, but for other people, it might not be the same. I think other pawns, like Beau or XiaoLiang, would have a grand time "getting to know" their clones.
I suppose it all comes down to the story you're trying to tell. The Jones boys are asexual, so I didn't have to worry that the game would try to put them in relationships, which is why I was so happy to let them have their "brother" storyline. It's fun, it suits them, and it's very sweet to draw.
If they had compatible sexuality traits, I probably wouldn't have gone for that route, juuust in case.
#asks#rimworld#gracie plays#A Mechanitor's Message#art#my art#traditional art#rimworld art#unpolished art#tw incest mention#the game doesn't define it as incest#because the clones have no relation to their original or to each other#I wish they DID#but they don't#so they're free to date as much as they want#I'm glad the Jones boys got to be brothers though#I much prefer their narrative being a familial one#perhaps in a future series we'll see different flavoured interactions with obelisk clones#but so far I'm content to keep it sibling coded#so to answer your question#you could say clone relationships were incest just as easily as you could say they weren't#have fun with the story generator however you see fit#and enjoy playing the game!#thanks for the ask!!#have an awesome day <3 <3
