Hiiii everyone!!! I’m Cori, 21 she/her and I’ve been a proud MICO fan since 2020. I made this account sometime in early 2022 I think? And have loved every second of it

I make edits, repost funny stories so you don’t miss em (mostly on insta), and sometimes just scream about the music haha

Ogni anno ormai ne sento la mancanza, sento proprio il vuoto che avete lasciato, un vuoto che mi accompagna ogni giorno. Il compleanno è sempre stato un giorno strano per me, non l'ho mai vissuto con spensieratezza e voglia di festa tanto quanto ci si aspetterebbe o come si dovrebbe vivere, ogni anno questa sensazione è sempre più forte, ma ormai non c'è più solo questo.

Ormai il compleanno da 3 anni a questa parte è l'ennesimo dejavu, l'ennesimo ricordo di quelli passati dove c'eravate VOI i miei amici. Il ricordo della vostra assenza, il ricordo dell'ultimo compleanno passato con voi. Un promemoria di quanto siano cambiate le cose in questi anni. Sono talmente sopraffatta che a momenti mi manca l'aria.

Mancate voi ragazzi, voi con i vostri messaggi pieni del vostro bene e di sincerità (cosa ormai rara), con i vostri regali sempre perfetti e scelti per me, voi che mi avete sempre spronata a festeggiare e ad essere lì per me. Voi che ormai passo il tempo a fare cose che mi ricordano i nostri momenti perché non voglio lasciarli andare.

In questa MIA giornata voglio solo dedicarvi un pensiero come voi lo avete sempre dedicato a me. E voglio ripensare al regalo più bello che ci possa essere: la NOSTRA Amicizia. Con la A maiuscola.

WOT s3 e5 thoughts

this episode already had an uphill battle coming off of the work of art that was last week's, but it was a very solid one nonetheless! a handful of surprising developments and some strong character moments made for a very moving watch. more specific thoughts below, spoilers under the cut!

moiraine using sakarnen was absolutely ethereal.

the music when rand and co entered cold rocks hold was stunning?

rand with rhuarc's granddaughter, all this man wants is to be a dad!

you know, i haven't had long enough to form an opinion on elaida, so this is certainly an impression!

this sequence in the dream world was lowkey terrifying.

i'm sorry when lanfear said her line all i could think of was "we've been waiting for you all summer and we're so glad you're finally here!"

mat and elayne, i just know they're sick of being on a boat together. unfortunately i am on elayne's side since i am always the trip planner, sorry to my king matrim cauthon.

egwene, elayne, AND nynaeve all pretending to be aes sedai and hoping the tower does not find out LMFAO.

1) mat must be absolutely baffled at how he keeps running into min and 2) him ditching elayne and nynaeve once his bestie shows up is gold.

it is absolutely evil how this show keeps cutting from mat to his family or vice versa!

alanna and maskim divorce era, i think i've seen this play before...

the malkieri continue to get to me. a culture, forever exiled from their home, and lan, their last king, not even knowing his own people, OH MY LORD.

i did laugh a little when moiraine confessed what she saw in the rings and lan decided to have them drink themselves into a stupor. but on a serious note, their relationship is really one of the cornerstones of the show, and i continue to love it.

rand and egwene on the other hand, PLEASE BREAK UP.

dain and perrin as a ship is unexpectedly compelling me now.

also, if i had nickel for everytime the two of them went at it while perrin's girl bestie of the week beat the shit out of five whitecloaks, i'd have two nickels!

the siuanraine reunion was devastating as expected, OH MY GOD.

the dream sequence at the end was so beautiful! nynaeve with elnore, elayne with aviendha(!), mat with his family, perrin in his forge, each moment was so emotional. and then rand...

anyways, the theatre kid in my heart is VERY excited for next week's episode, so tune back in on thursday!

Storia Di Musica #370 - Spring, Spring, 1971

Il tema legante le storie musicali di Aprile non è così fantasioso: è la primavera. Ma le storie dei dischi che ho scelto accumunati da questo tema sono davvero interessanti e, come quella di oggi, dal punto di vista "mitologico" quelle che a me piacciono di più. Per iniziare torniamo a fine anni '60 in Gran Bretagna, agli albori dell'era progressive. Gli aficionados della rubrica sanno che è uno dei miei periodi musicali preferiti, cassa del tesoro infinita da cui attingere musica grandiosa. E la perla di oggi è per molti versi unica.

Tutto inizia a Leicester, nel 1969, quando si fonda un gruppo musicale: Pat Moran cantante, Ray Martinez chitarrista e Kips Brown alle tastiere sono il nucleo degli Spring, su cui ruoteranno altri musicisti amici. Hanno una particolarità unica: suonano anche ben tre Mellotron, che dà alla loro musica la maestosità di una orchestrazione ben più grande. Il mellotron, lo strumento principe del prog, fu il primo "computer musicale": sebbene a forma di tastiera di pianoforte, ogni tasto azionava un nastro registrato che riproduceva un suono, spesso archi, fiati, o altre orchestrazioni, per 8 secondi (uno dei primi ad usarlo fu Paul McCartney in Strawberry Fields Forever). Iniziano come band da locali, e supportano anche qualche band più famosa. La svolta la ebbero durante un piccolo tour in Galles. Il loro furgoncino si ruppe proprio vicino una fattoria vicino Monmouth. Il caso volle che quella non fosse una fattoria qualsiasi, ma, in una vecchia stalla, i fratelli Charles e Kingley Ward avevano attrezzato, pochi anni prima, un bellissimo studio di registrazione, i Rockfield Studios. Ward li aiutò con il furgoncino, ma era molto incuriosito dai loro strumenti e dal fatto che fossero una band: invitati a suonare, la loro musica fu sorprendente tanto che Ward chiamò il suo amico Gus Dudgeon, produttore tra l'altro di David Bowie e di Elton John che subito propose loro un contratto per una sussidiaria della RCA, la Neon.

Registrato in presa diretta ai Trident Studios di Londra e pubblicato nel 1971, Spring è una gemma unanimemente riconosciuta come uno dei più grandi capolavori dell’underground britannico progressivo. In realtà è un prog molto romantico, poco aperto alla ostentazione strumentale, è piuttosto un manifesto di una malinconia dolce e disperata, in un mix tra i King Crimson meno muscolari, i Moody Blues o i Procol Harum, e caratterizzati dalla voce molto particolare di Pat Moran.

Si apre con The Prisoner (Eight By Ten), che mette subito in mostra i tre Mellotron (archi, trombe e flauto), appena sostenuti dalla sezione ritmica e timidi arpeggi di chitarra acustica, esalta al meglio lo spleen emotivo in cui si cala la voce candida e pacata di Moran che qui interpreta la vicenda di un prigioniero che, tornato a casa e preso atto di essere rimasto completamente solo, sceglie di porre fine alla sua vita; Grail prosegue forse ancor più struggente e tormentata: accanto al consueto dispiegamento di Mellotron, vede Ray Martinez destreggiarsi abilmente alla chitarra elettrica attraverso meravigliosi trilli e rifiniture; Golden Fleece si distingue per una breve e melodiosa ouverture per solo Mellotron per poi evolvere in una vibrante melodia in cui pop, folk e progressive vanno di pari passo amalgamandosi alla perfezione con grande assolo di Martinez; Boats e Song To Absent Friends sono due brani di puro folk (l’una per sole chitarre dal vago sapore western, l’altra condotta unicamente dal pianoforte), mentre Shipwrecked Soldier ed Inside Out sono esempi di puro rock del tempo, con puntatine al nascente hard rock. Ma il momento clou è la conclusiva Gazing, con una stupefacente ouverture strumentale degna dei migliori Genesis che poi cede il passo ad una ballad carica di un pathos doloroso. A completare il capolavoro, una copertina stupenda del grande fotografo Marcus Keef (che è poco conosciuto rispetto ad altri, ma è uno degli occhi fotografici più grandi del rock del tempo, pensate solo alla copertina del primo disco dei Black Sabbath, opera sua): ve la lascio aperta nella completa bellezza dell'Lp

in basso a destra un soldato morto, da cui del liquido rosso e schiumoso scorre verso il fiume, dal lato opposto la band ad osservare.

Il disco ebbe modesto successo nonostante la critica positiva, e la band era sul trampolino di lancio: fu spalla dei Velvet Underground nel loro primo tour europeo (senza Lou Reed) e nel 1972 era già a registrare il nuovo disco quando il fallimento della Neon bloccò il secondo lavoro. Quel secondo lavoro mai terminato (furono pubblicati dei demo nel 2007 e molti di quelli compaiono in un disco aggiunto alla ristampa di Spring in cd) portò allo scioglimento della band: Moran divenne un signor produttore lavorando tra l'altro con con artisti del calibro di Van Der Graaf Generator, Queen, Robert Plant e Rush; uno dei musicisti che suonava qui in questo disco, Pit Whiters alla batteria, e che compare nei crediti di Spring, fonderà insieme a Mark Knopfler i Dire Straits.

Un capolavoro stupendo che ha un'ultima curiosità: un po' per la chiusura della Neon, un po' per la bellezza dell'insieme, è uno dei pezzi pregiati del collezionismo mondiale: anche in condizioni pessime vale 150 €, gli esemplari migliori volano oltre i 1000, una piccola consolazione per una band che nella sua unica prova ha regalato un disco di una bellezza altissima.

Pizzeria post cinema delle 18, io stanco, un po' fatto, amico tutto felice del film appena visto, amica sua che parlava della bravura del protagonista. Una dolce armonia, fuori pioveva, il trancio di pizza era caldo e la birra scendeva velocemente. Sto nel mio da un po' di tempo, non sono le delusioni, non sono gli scazzi, ho sentito che mi stavo chiudendo sempre più e ho cercato di aprirmi, ma l'istinto è lì, più affinato, ci mette poco a farmi capire chi ho di fronte. In quella situazione stavo nel mio, eppure si parlava di film, eppure sentivo che non avevo nulla da aggiungere, ma solo pensieri sparsi che dovevo ordinare. Loro continuano a parlare e finiscono per parlare di liste, liste di cose da vedere, liste di cose da fare, liste di cose che rimandano ad altre cose, liste sul lavoro, tutti questi mega elenchi di to do, che io non ho. Beati loro che riescono a organizzarsi così. Dico che le mie liste sono liste di cose fatte, di cose viste, di cose che memorizzano un ricordo. Che tipo ho la lista dei film visti sul cellulare, la lista dei libri letti su un taccuino, la lista delle cose fatte a lavoro sul quaderno del lavoro. Non lo credevano possibile. Come facessi a vivere senza to do? Ah boh, non lo so, mi metto sul divano alle 21, quando sono in vena di film penso all'ultimo collegamento, vedo qualche screen salvato da Tik Tok, lo cerco in lingua e cerco i sottotitoli (preferisco il torrente allo streaming), se sono asincroni li sincronizzo e poi mi vedo il film. No ma tu sei pazzo, come fai? Se voglio vedere un film deve stare già da qualche parte, non ho tutta questa voglia di perdere tempo per poter vedere un film. E non lo so, per me è tipo un rituale, così so che ho perso tempo (5 minuti tipo) per sistemare e ho voglia di vederlo. E poi boh, non ricordo dove sia andata a finire la discussione.

Oggi ho finito Pao Pao di Tondelli, ho visto Pietà di Kim Ki-Duk e The Fall di Singh. Per il secondo film ho chiesto a Chatgpt, la domanda era tipo "consigliami 5 film che siano un mix di For Emma, forever ago (che è un album incredibile che mi ha mangiato dentro per 2 settimane) e Borea di Waterhouse". Credo che anche chatgpt mi creda uno snob del cazzo. The Fall stava alla voce "bellezza sconfinata". È vero, film bellissimo.

FIRST TF SERIES: Transformers Prime. Was the only thing I used to watch on Netflix when we got it in the family, since when I had been younger and I had seen the first episodes air or regular TV, I had never gotten the chance to watch it fully

FAV AUTOBOT: They used to be TFP's Ratchet and Wheeljack, but now they are Autobots that I first read about in IDW's MTMTE, with them being Whirl, Rodimus Prime and Fortress Maximus. I have very confused feelings about Prowl

FAV DECEPTICON: Soundwave. In all interpretations of him except TF Animated. Then there's a deep love for IDW's and Armada's Starscream, and huge respect for the way IDW'S writers made Shockwave's character OP in the 2005 timeline. The Scavengers from MTMTE also have a special place in my heart, as well as Megatron's redemption arc

FAV NEUTRAL OR OBSCURE CHARACTER: I have always interpreted Cyclonus as a neutral character, so in my opinion he takes first place... Lockdown from TFA is a very close second

SHIPS/FAV SHIPS: I do not ship characters aside from their already canonical ones, I'm afraid I'm a bit boring when it comes to that... Perhaps Starscream and Windblade, as well as Starscream and Bumblebee (always IDW 2005 timeline). My favorite canonical ship has to be Cyclonus and Tailgate (I usually headcanon Whirl also being part of it, like an undeclared Amico Endura or something...)

BEST THEME SONG: TFP's for nostalgia, TFA's for rythm

SADDEST BETRAYAL: I frankly don't know, the saddest thing for me was the death of a character itself, not how it happened... Perhaps the "saddest" one was Breakdown's momentary betrayal of the Decepticon cause when he and Bulkhead joined forces against MECH in TFP, because that "betrayal" may have actually helped him find a new faction with less demanding leaders... At the same time no matter how you look at it it has sad consequences, because if he truly left then Knockout would have been livid and turn really bitter. On the same terms, Starscream's decision to leave the Autobots after he'd wanted to join them in Armada, and Starscream's last stand against Megatron in that same series (something which is not really a betrayal, but it still detaches him from the Decepticon forever, if that counts) are also really sad. I'm really not sure if these count, but to think that's sad I look at the types of betrayal that include "leaving a faction" because for millions of years said faction as been a Cybertronian's only community and all thay fought for, and the causes and consequences of leaving or wanting to leave are often tragic

O que fazer contra os produtos químicos "eternos" - Instituto Humanitas Unisinos

Produtos químicos eternos, chamados de PFAS, estão em todo lugar, da roupa impermeável à maquiagem. São associados a diversas doenças e levam milhares de anos para se decompor. E as soluções para combatê-los são caras.

Em 2015, ao voltar de férias, a americana Andrea Amico encontrou quatro grandes envelopes amarelos sobre a mesa da cozinha – um para cada membro da família. Eles continham os resultados de exames de sangue feitos pelo Departamento de Saúde de seu estado, New Hampshire.

Um ano antes, ela lera um artigo sobre um poço de água potável de Portsmouth, fechado por conter altas taxas de substâncias per– e polifluoralquiladas (PFAS). O nível de um dos componentes dessa família, o sulfonato de perfluorooctano (PFOS), usado na espuma anti-incêndio, era 12 vezes superior aos limites recomendados na época pela Agência de Proteção Ambiental dos Estados Unidos (EPA), e 600 vezes acima dos padrões atuais.

Proveniente de uma antiga base aérea próxima à cidade, em que se usava a espuma para fins de treinamento, o PFOS vazara para o solo, contaminando a água subterrânea. O poço d’água em questão se localizava bem ao lado do escritório de seu marido e da creche das crianças.

Os testes confirmaram o que se temia: a família apresentava níveis elevados de substâncias químicas no sangue, sendo a filha menor a mais exposta. “Foi devastador”, lembra Amico.

PFAS, poluentes eternos

A família das PFAS engloba cerca de 15 mil substâncias sintéticas apelidadas “forever chemicals” (produtos químicos eternos), pois não se decompõem naturalmente e levam milhares de anos para se dispersar.

Devido a sua capacidade de resistir a calor, umidade e sujeira, elas são usadas numa ampla gama de produtos industriais e para o consumidor, de trajes à prova d’água, maquiagem e tapetes antimanchas, a aparelhos médicos, semicondutores e turbinas eólicas.

Por outro lado, as PFAS se dispersam facilmente na água e ar, poluindo o meio ambiente. Ingeridas através da água e alimentos, elas se acumulam gradualmente no organismo, já tendo sido detectadas em sangue, cabelos e leite humanos.

Pesquisas as associaram a afecções como colesterol elevado, doenças da tireoide, disfunção hormonal, baixa fertilidade e algumas formas de câncer. Porém até agora poucas delas foram estudadas, e dessas, apenas uma parcela é regulamentada na União Europeia e nos EUA.

Desde que leu o artigo de jornal sobre o poço poluído em sua cidade, há mais de uma década, a terapeuta ocupacional Andrea Amico se ocupa das PFAS. Os exames de sangue a deixaram zangada e assustada, e sua família não estava só: nos cerca de 2 mil habitantes da área também submetidos a testes entre 2015 e 2017, constataram-se taxas de alguns dos poluentes eternos entre duas e três vezes superiores às da população em geral.

À busca de respostas sobre impactos para a saúde e prevenção, ela ajudou a fundar, em 2017, a Coalizão Nacional sobre Contaminação com PFAS, que se empenha por regulamentações mais eficazes e para que as companhias poluidoras sejam responsabilizadas. No ano seguinte, ela depôs perante o Senado no primeiro inquérito em torno das substâncias tóxicas.

Amico também contribuiu para que. em 2019. se realizasse uma análise de impactos para a saúde em sua comunidade, como parte de um projeto maior sobre áreas contaminadas no país, cujos resultados deverão ser divulgados em 2025.

O problema das PFAS se estende por muitas cidades, lugarejos e fazendas americanas. Testes realizados nos últimos anos indicaram que 98% da população tem taxas detectáveis no sangue e que grande parte da água encanada está contaminada.

Luta para eliminar PFAS

Os métodos existentes para eliminar PFAS são complicados e custosos. Na antiga base aérea de Portsmouth, além de se construírem novas estações de tratamento de água subterrânea, foram instalados filtros para impedir a penetração de PFAS no poço contaminado.

Porém a filtragem, o método mais difundido para limpar a água, tem desvantagens: “No mais dos casos, as PFAS retidas nos filtros são só transportadas para um aterro sanitário em algum outro lugar, sem ser realmente destruídas”, explica Dan Jones, professor de departamento de bioquímica e biologia molecular da Universidade Estadual de Michigan.

A incineração é outra opção, porém exige instalações especializas e consome muita energia. Outras tecnologias ainda estão em desenvolvimento, como o uso de ondas sônicas ou micróbios para destruir as substâncias na água. Ainda não está claro se podem ser usadas em larga escala e se são aplicáveis a mais do que uns poucos tipos de PFAS.

E a eliminação é apenas parte do problema: “Se quisermos reduzir o risco das PFAS, temos que ‘fechar a torneira’ para seus usos existentes e novos”, enfatiza Alissa Cordner, socióloga ambiental do Whitman College, no estado de Washington, Ela considera a eventual proibição, pela União Europeia, de mais de 10 mil PFAS, um passo significativo. Uma resolução neste sentido está sendo avaliada.

Por sua vez, países como a França já tomaram medidas para banir os poluentes eternos de cosméticos, roupas e sapatos, entre outros produtos, além de decretar- a monitoração dos níveis de PFAS na água

Medo do futuro

Nos EUA, a EPA cancelou os planos do governo Joe Biden para impor um limite nacional à quantidade dos “poluentes eternos” que a indústria pode lançar na água, deixando a regulamentação a cargo dos estados. Pelo menos o novo diretor da agência, Lee Zeldin, declarou que regulamentar as PFAS é uma “prioridade máxima” para ele.

No momento, os fabricantes devem declarar à agência o emprego de quaisquer novas PFAS, para que se avalie seu potencial de risco. No entanto, como explica Dan Jones, da Universidade de Michigan, as substâncias banidas costumam ser substituídas por outras, igualmente nocivas.

Em Portsmouth, Amico instalou um filtro na torneira da cozinha. Ela é a favor de uma interdição mais ampla das PFAS, porém acredita que os indivíduos também podem fazer uma diferença, ao selecionar o que compram.

“Sem dúvida, eu entendo que a gente adore ter casacos e botas impermeáveis, e tapetes antimanchas. Mas eu também acho que, enquanto consumidores, temos obrigação de nos perguntar: vale a pena?” Dez anos após ela receber aqueles envelopes amarelos, seus filhos estão bem. Entretanto Andrea Amico teme futuros problemas de saúde: “É, assim, o medo do que pode estar por vir.”

God Games: Athena asking for her dad’s help must be a big deal, and all to save Odysseus. so now Athena has to convince a bunch of other gods to save him. i’m enjoying how each god has their own motif and music style. Apollo’s is especially cute with the strings. Aphrodite’s actress has an amazingly sweet voice. Athena is MAD at Ares for bashing his name i seem to think she thinks of him as more than a friend… and Hera’s jam is so fun omg. Poor Athena did she get imprisoned or injured for trying to help Odysseus?? Is Telemachus going to assist her?? I NEED TO KNOWWW

All in all it’s very good, production is astounding and all the singers play their parts so well!!! I’m definitely looking forward to learning more about the plot, and i can’t wait to see what Telemachus does next <3

Tech Tales: Year Three

Today, my podcast Tech Tales is three years old. I've had a lot of fun making the show this past year, and it has continued to grow and improve.

There were eight Tech Tales episodes this past year, coming in at just under eight hours of runtime. There are now 55 episodes in total, just over 17,000 plays on audio platforms, and 230 subscribers on YouTube. That's more than double the YouTube subscribers than the show had a year ago, and almost double the amount of audio plays.

There was a pretty good mix of episodes this year, diving into the history of the Apple IIGS computer, Duke Nukem Forever, the CyanogenMod custom ROM, the Intellivision Amico console, Google AMP, and Apple's transition to Intel processors. There were also two Movie Club episodes to give me a break from history research: one for Tron and another for its sequel, Tron: Legacy. That last one now holds the record for longest Tech Tales episode at 1 hour and 21 minutes.

Tech Tales is still growing without any paid advertising, with only word of mouth, algorithmic recommendations through YouTube, and my own efforts on social media (primarily Mastodon). There were a few sudden boosts, like YouTube's algorithm pushing the Intellivision Amico episode to hundreds more people than usual, and a few episodes were shared on tech forums and sites by listeners.

The big behind-the-scenes shift this year was moving the production from Audacity to Apple Logic Pro, which has made it much easier for me to edit episodes and add chapter markers. The episodes sound better than ever, and the YouTube version now has a fun idle animation instead of a static image.

I also started my new newsletter and blog, The Spacebar, a few months after Tech Tales' second anniversary. I adapted some older Tech Tales episodes as new articles for The Spacebar, such as the story of the Eee PC and VisiCalc. I plan to do more of that in the future, and maybe more cross-promotion where it makes sense.

I don't have any grand plans for Tech Tales for the next year ahead, other than continuing to work on it when I have the time and interesting topics to discuss. The editing process is a lot less frustrating now, which helps!

And then Marcella takes a sip and tries not to think too hard on the coppery taste, like she's actually drinking pennies. Instead she thinks about Eric safe with the Lupo in the forest. About Hazal and Ciro and Amico standing before a new Amaranthus coven. About some kind of closure for the rest of the Asphodel coven. The world would continue to spin and Marcella Belanades would remain a fixed point after this. Stuck in time, in this moment forever, no one's daughter, not really, but most importantly someone's friend. That's all she could really hope for, to be loved in any capacity at all after all she'd done. She sets the goblet on a nearby headstone and stands up straight. "I'm ready."

It was a small affirmation that he shouldn't have needed, but it felt good to hear it anyways. The two of them hadn't thought much of each other, but over the last year that had changed, even at his worst she still accepted him. Still welcomed him, and now here they stood: side by side at their graves. "For life," Ezekiel said, growing up in the Amaranthus they were family but he was the black sheep. Hazal and him were close in age but she'd always been leagues ahead of him. He thought for a second. "and death too." Considering they'd still be family even after he broke her neck. "When you're ready," he gestured towards the goblet of his blood, "I'll do it." If there was anything left to be said, now was the time.
