Random thought (maybe not bc it’s black history month) but I’ve been thinking about how ever since Juneteenth became a national holiday the joy has been sucked out of it by capitalism. And I’m not just talking about corporations. I mean black influencers and public figures who didn’t know the holiday existed pre-2020 selling things to try to profit off the day. I can’t fully express why this irks me. Maybe bc the profits from the items they’re selling aren’t going back into the community or even funding Juneteenth celebrations, but it’s just lining their pockets and funding their lifestyles.

I think that’s what I trying to get at maybe. It’s not a celebration anymore it’s just another cash grab. Black capitalism won’t save us lmao
