So I had completely forgotten there was this map in "Thanks to Them" - the "HD" map must have been drawn by historians because no one would label a current day map "OLD" (city name), so the only accurate one would be the one on the right that indicated the location of the Titan's Blood. Both are very similar, the only thing is the architecture details from the left are probably not super accurate. From what I've found so far, architecture from small villages in the early 600s wouldn't look the way they do on the left, when I was looking for pictures of churches specifically, the first results on google are kinda similar to the one on the left map, but from what little we see of the portraits and what it seems to have been like, Gravesfield at that time was a small village that grew over time, so I don't think the architecture would have looked quite that impressive.

I feel like the flatter ones would be more accurate than the really tall ones (which seem more appropriate for bigger cities) but I could be wrong. I know the movie The VVitch was an inspiration for TOH (there's even a reference to it somewhere in the show) and I saved a ton of screenshots from that movie as Gravesfield inspiration and this seems like more fitting references as well. I know the show isn't historically accurate anyway, but I just wanted to ask if anyone knew maybe some paintings from that era and they could reblog that post with pictures so I could have more stuff to look at :3
I had a church briefly visible in one of my backgrounds in "Distance" from my album and I feel like that felt more fitting to the vibe but since it's only been used for two backgrounds so far, I wanted to see what other pictures people had to share before I make any more in case I decide to update it a little :3 (For context, this is the design I came up for it for the album, I had saved a bunch of other refs I found but for some reason I can't find them anymore :'))

A Character Analysis on Specimen 9 (Aka Taker)
Made a post about this on Reddit. Might as well put it here too. Spooky's has a lot of interesting, albeit, unnerving creatures. From an eye stabbing puppet, to the physical embodiment of trauma, to a demon from hell that feeds people mind manipulating burgers, and many others.

Then there's the oddity that is Specimen 9. Aka Taker. The specimen doesn't have a locale or spawn like the others do. Instead either spawning if you afk for awhile or showing up if you get stuck in the endless hallway.

At some point in the game you would probably run into its CAT-DOS entry, with the screen either freaking and glitching out if you played the original version or the entry not giving you any information on the creature aside from the ominous "TO TAKE THE DEAD" line being repeated over and over if you played the HD Renovation.

Then you get to the climax of the game. After reaching 1,000 rooms, getting through the exit, and being met with a fake outdoors area, Spooky shows up and is visibly upset at the player getting this far without dying. That is until some strange roaring/groaning sounds are heard in the distance and she becomes happy again, coming up with an excuse on the spot to make the player keep going.
Being met with a bleak and colorless environment with soothing, yet unnerving ambiance playing in the background, you come across a table with a radio that states "I'm taking all those "logs" they keep throwing out... and I'm nailing them together."

After walking around a bit and going through a door labelled "731", the Taker suddenly appears in front of your face and starts to slowly take on a new form as it makes groans of, what sounds like to me at least, pain. Going from a disembodied head to a full on human, albeit, a skinless one with an overextended jaw. After that, you're thrown into a boss fight.
It's not a very hard fight. You'll most likely beat it in one go and either get the good and bad ending and... that's it really.
To new players, Specimen 9's boss fight will most likely come across as a cool, but pretty random and out of nowhere fight. Especially considering they'll most likely go through the entire game and not see Specimen 9 once. Not to mention the unanswered questions. Why was this specimen, out of all the other ones, chosen to be a boss? Was the radio on the table spouting nonsense or did it actually mean something? Why is its room number labeled 731? Well, now we can start diving deeper into Taker.
If you go to the CAT-DOS machine and click on "Modify House Layout" six times and then click on Specimen 9's entry, you gain access to its actual written entry and some other specimens. Specimen 9 is a clay-like creature that somehow survived Unit 731. The Unit 731 that performed the most atrociously horrific and inhumane experiments on men, women, and even children and babies. That and overall being sadistic and cruel to their subjects. Not even viewing them as human beings by referring to them as "logs", sometimes killing them just to play around and not even for "experimentation", or forcing them into sexual acts either for "experimentation" or simply because they could.

This explains the "I'm taking all those "logs" they keep throwing out... and I'm nailing them together." line. The "logs" aren't literal logs or written logs, but test subjects. Corpses of the victims that were thrown out after they were exposed to the violent and often fatal "tests". The nailing them together part of the line could imply that the voice on the radio is either one of the "scientists" explaining how they created Specimen 9 or Specimen 9 themselves explaining about what they're doing. After all CAT-DOS does say that it's drawn to dead bodies.
That's not the only thing that the Unit 731 connection explains, as it could also explain the motives of Specimen 9. Apparently he was too hard to contain. Too hard in fact that he was killed and dismantled by GL Labs, yet survived somehow anyways, leaving him as a floating head. The entry doesn't go into the detail on why he was hard to contain, more specifically, why he didn't want to be contained in the first place. Well, considering the last "scientific" facility that he was in? GL Labs probably reminded him too much of Unit 731. Causing him to make multiple escape attempts before most likely killing the scientists in a fit of rage after they tried to kill him and left him as a floating head. This is where we can form a story out of Specimen 9.
He used to be a regular and ordinary guy. That was until he was forced into being a test subject or "log" at Unit 731. He mostly likely suffered and went through agonizing torture there before finally dying. Somehow, perhaps simply through paranormal means, he woke up as a strange clay-like being. He wasn't human anymore. He was a monster. A thing. He strangely felt drawn towards the dead and wanted to make those corpses they would throw out apart of himself. Maybe because he wanted to gain more power to get revenge on the scientists. Maybe because he wanted to piece himself back together after his body was mutilated. Whatever the case, he did what he did. Taking the "logs" and "nailing them" to his body. Perhaps after that he killed the scientists at Unit 731 and ran away to hide in Russia.
Then he was found by GL Labs. He was considered very effective, but he kept making escape attempts. He despised being there. The scientists and facility reminded him too much of Unit 731. Perhaps he was treated horribly there as well. Being seen not as a human being, but as an object. A "log" like how the Japanese viewed him. He was killed and left as a head due to the scientists at GL Labs getting tired of his constant escape attempts, he survived however, and most likely made those scientists pay by killing and taking them. He was now known as the Taker.

Taker stalks the player in the base game the moment they go into their first room. Trying to take their body when they find the chance so they can piece themselves back together. They never get that chance, however. By the end of the game, we enter into this lifeless area, perhaps a recreation of sorts of Unit 731. Taker finds what he needs there and is able to become humanoid again. Seeing the player as a dangerous threat, he tries to kill them.
The Taker is a former ordinary guy that just wants to be human again. To be seen as human. To become human. To put himself back together and escape into the outside world to try to live a somewhat normal life. Unfortunately, he never gets his wish. He dies in all of the endings in the base game and Doll House DLC. Although the good ending in the Doll House DLC is probably the best outcome for him. He gets to rest peacefully. No longer being a monster filled with rage and hatred. That is his story. In my personal interpretation anyways.

Unit 731's inclusion in this game and its connection to Specimen 9 has to be the most disturbing and mind blowing realization once you connect the dots. I'm not sure how I feel about putting real life tragedies in video games, especially in one that's kinda goofy like this, but I think the way that it was implemented here was the best and most tasteful way they could've went about doing it. It's very vague and not very in your face with the way it's referenced. Every Youtuber that I have seen play this thought the radio meant "logs" as in actual wooden logs or written logs and not a single one picked up what 731 meant. It's something you'll only really discover if you go out of your way to look for it or pick up on if you're a history enthusiast like the character we play as.
Perhaps that could be used as criticism against the game, but I think it's an interesting way to go about it. There's just a unique and special kind of horror about going out of your way to find out what the deal is with this floating red skull, only to have that horrifying realization once you connect all the dots and realize what it's supposed to be referencing. Bonus points if you were like me and didn't even know anything about Unit 731 and read through the whole entire Wikipedia page. Shit is the stuff of nightmares. I wanted to dive more into Unit 731 and the other horrific things the Japanese did during WW2, but I quickly stopped once I read about what they did at Nanjing. Tears were overwhelming my eyes at that point and I couldn't handle it. It makes sense why Taker was chosen to be the final boss. Reality will always be more horrifying than fiction.
Anyways, that's it. I really like Specimen 9 and wanted to make a post that's just praising and appreciating him. With this and the two great dlc's this game has to offer, this odd but charming little game will always stick with me.

i genuinely love when you can tell an older show was Not made with high quality video viewing in mind. i am watching knight rider and constantly seeing all the little mistakes they surely brushed under the rug thinking nobody would see them on their crunchy little CRTs back in the 80s, that are huge attention grabbers now in HD fullscreen on my 3 foot computer monitor
the biggest one of course is all the drivers/controllers for the (in-universe) self driving car, kitt. there's guys tucked down in the footwells who can't always stay out of the shot. there's a guy who has a Car Seat Suit to blend in and look like the drivers seat from a distance, but you can always tell when that's the method they're using for a particular shot because its so much thicker than the passenger seat next to it and the headrest is missing it's cutout section. in at least one instance he starts taking the suit off too early, on a focus shot of the damn car, so its REAL visible.
all the extremely obvious stunt drivers or performers who look nothing like the character they're supposed to be
props, such as animals, vanishing from the car interior for stunt/race sequences.
the production crew (or their shadows) being visible in the background. only at a glance, but its especially hilarious in shots where nobody else is supposed to be around
the camera panning out from a sound stage set far enough that you can actually see over the edges of the set and into the stage they were filming in. mostly this happens with their truck trailer mobile unit thing.
this one isn't a mistake but every time the car "turbo jumps" they CLEARLY hide the ramp behind another car, a prop, the environment, and its just. so charming. sometimes its blatantly on screen just for a moment. like... of Course in real life this car isn't magically leaping 20 feet, of course its a ramp, but it's still so silly and fun to be reminded of how they were doing those stunts to begin with.
also not really a mistake but related, the bracket they keep on the front of the car for stunt work.... is just left on half the time. cuz it's a pain to take on and off.
and there are more examples that are more unique that haven't cemented themselves in my head well yet, but these are the more notable or common things i see and it's really charming. if i'm not giggling to myself noticing the "seams" and flaws and so human imperfections of your show or movie what EVEN is the point. hollywood is too flashy these days i think!
#liz blogs#knight rider#kr#tv production#1980s#television#i dont even know if this is a 'older tv' thing or if its just a knight rider thing because i've seen all of classic columbo at this point#and i think i can think of... maybe one or two times you saw the edges of a sound stage room. and thats it#i dont know Why its like this i dont know how common it is for shows of the era but i love it to bits. cannot get through an episode#with somebody without pointing out the quirky little things i notice.#y'know what hollywood really can burn there is such a great backlog of media to watch#i need to gif that guy pulling off his Seat Costume in the MIDDLE of the SHOT. that was so fucking funny. my favorite blooper so far#a lot of these have to do with kitt bc he IS a prop but its extremely funny how hard they push the 'HES INDESTRUCTIBLE' thing#and every other boost landing has the car looking like its gonna snap in fucking half like a twig. got some ROUGH landings#i wanna know how many stunt kitts they went through they really beat the shit outta those cars sometimes#i think if this show were free on streaming like columbo way more people on this site would like it it is a weirdly charming little show

Super-Earth discovery reveals an exoplanet potentially capable of sustaining life
Thirty years after the discovery of the first exoplanet, astronomers have detected more than 7,000 of them in our galaxy. But there are still billions more to be discovered. At the same time, exoplanetologists have begun to take an interest in their characteristics, with the aim of finding life elsewhere in the universe. This is the background to the discovery of super-Earth HD 20794 d by an international team including the University of Geneva (UNIGE) and the NCCR PlanetS.
The new planet lies in an eccentric orbit, so that it oscillates in and out of its star's habitable zone. This discovery is the fruit of 20 years of observations using the best telescopes in the world. The results are published in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics.
'"Are we alone in the universe?"' For thousands of years, this question was confined to philosophy, and it is only very recently that modern science has begun to provide solid hypotheses and evidence to answer it. However, astronomers are making slow progress.
Each new discovery, whether theoretical or observational, adds to the edifice by pushing back the limits of knowledge. This was the case with the discovery in 1995 of the first planet orbiting a star other than the sun, which earned two UNIGE researchers, Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz, the 2019 Physics Nobel Prize. The current scientific consensus points to the existence of a planetary system for every star in our galaxy.
Astronomers are now looking for exoplanets that are easier to characterize or have interesting features to test their hypotheses and consolidate their knowledge. This is the case of planet HD 20794 d, which has just been detected by a team that includes members of the UNIGE Astronomy Department.
In the habitable zone of its star
This promising planet is a super-Earth, a telluric planet larger than the Earth. It is part of a planetary system containing two other planets. It orbits a G-type star, like the sun, at a distance of just 19.7 light-years, which is, on the scale of the universe, in the very close neighborhood of the Earth.
This "closeness" makes it easier to study, as its light signals are more visible and stronger. "HD 20794, around which HD 20794 d orbits, is not an ordinary star," explains Xavier Dumusque, Senior Lecturer and researcher in the Department of Astronomy at the UNIGE and co-author of the study.
"Its luminosity and proximity makes it an ideal candidate for future telescopes whose mission will be to observe the atmospheres of exoplanets directly."
The interest in planet HD 20794 d lies in its position in the habitable zone of its star, the zone that delimits the place where liquid water can exist, one of the conditions necessary for the development of life as we know it. This zone depends on several factors, mainly the stellar properties.
For stars such as the sun or HD 20794, it can extend from 0.7 to 1.5 astronomical units (AU), encompassing not only the orbit of the Earth but also that of Mars in the case of the sun. The exoplanet HD 20794 d takes 647 days to orbit its star, around 40 days less than Mars.
Instead of following a relatively circular orbit, like the Earth or Mars, HD 20794 d follows an elliptical trajectory with large changes in the distance to its star during its revolution. The planet thus oscillates between the inner edge of its star HZ (0.75 AU) and outside of it (2 AU) along its orbit.
This configuration is of particular interest to astronomers because it allows them to adjust theoretical models and test their understanding of the notion of a planet's habitability. If there is water on HD 20794 d, it would pass from the state of ice to the liquid state, conducive to the appearance of life, during the planet's revolution around the star.
Many years of observations
Detecting this super-Earth was not easy and the process was iterative. The team analyzed more than 20 years of data from state-of-the-art instruments such as ESPRESSO and HARPS. For the latter, the scientists were able to rely on YARARA, a data reduction algorithm recently developed at the UNIGE.
For years, planetary signals had been obscured by noise, making it difficult to discern whether planets actually existed. "We analyzed the data for years, carefully eliminating sources of contamination," explains Michael Cretignier, a post-doctoral researcher at Oxford University, co-author of the study and developer of YARARA during his Ph.D. at UNIGE.
The discovery of HD 20794 d provides scientists with an interesting laboratory for modeling and testing new hypotheses in their search for life in the universe.
The proximity of this planetary system to its bright star also makes it a prime target for next-generation instruments such as the ANDES spectrograph for ESO's Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). Knowing whether this planet harbors life will still require a number of scientific milestones and a transdisciplinary approach.
The conditions for its habitability are already being studied by the new Center for Life in the Universe (CVU) at the UNIGE's Faculty of Science.

AAIC Direct Trailer
This is the 26th post in the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection Countdown: 55 days left until release!
Today's topic: the Direct Trailer!
I’ve previously talked about the official trailer of the Investigations Collection but there is also the trailer that was shown specifically for the Nintendo Direct announcement. The general direction is similar but it shows some different images and scenes that I’d like to talk about.

I love the tagline they used for the announcement! Great way to summarize Miles‘ games 😄

There is a very short scene of investigation phase gameplay shown in Miles‘ office with a little interaction between Miles and Gumshoe. It’s truly amazing how smooth the chibi sprite animations are and how well they fit into everything! Love it! You can also see the menu icons in the upper right corner – a person with speech bubble for interacting with your partner, puzzle pieces for Logic and a book or organizer for the, well, Organizer. It’s more fancy than just having the words written out in the corner, I especially like the puzzle pieces! Though I did like how in the DS version an image of the person you currently have as your partner is shown on the bottom screen where you tap to talk to them, that was really cool. With how many different partners you have throughout the Investigations games it was a great way to highlight that.

Apart from the chibi sprite animations we also see some nice scenes of a few confrontation sprites in all their glory! The website says all the graphics are in full HD and looking at these images I definitely believe it. The DS era graphic style is my personal favourite of all the ones the series went through (AA in 3D looks great but I do slightly prefer the 2D sprites) and with these graphics it’s an absolute feast for the eyes! So detailed! So pretty! Not to say that Shi-Long isn’t insanely handsome in every version but this way he can really show it off!

And can I just…

*buries face in his chest*
Ahem, where was I…? Oh, yes!

We also get a look into the flight attendant’s room from I1-2 with wonderful new details to look at and a first look at the chibi sprites of Franziska and Rhoda. I love how much you can read of the „Professional Style!“ poster in the background. The way to wear the bow on the scarf and the skirt seems to be mandatory. Also love the details on how messy Cammy’s bed actually is 😄 And the „Fabulous“ in the foreground on one of the packages with all the sparkly golden stuff in it. I’m just a little confused by the „GoYou!“ name on the poster on the right. It’s the original name of the airline Miles flies with in this case but in the localization of the first game it was changed to „iFly“ which makes more sense for an English company imo. Has it been changed back for this remaster? If so, why?

Next, we can admire Sebastian’s adorable chibi sprite and his pointing animation at the fountain plaza from I2-3 (one of the prettiest settings imo). I love how his hair loop and his jacket that he wears like a cape visibly move with him – gives it so much more dynamic!

Before we see a comparison to the pixel graphic we get a look at chibi Shi-Long wearing his sunglasses. I mentioned already how much I love them but OMG, they’re SO CUTE on his chibi sprite! 😍 Why is he so adorable? And his animation when he takes them off!

I feel like I haven’t mentioned enough how wonderfully detailed and cute these are… 😊

I talked already about the music collection menu and the orchestra tracks in general but with the image they show in the trailer I can tell which additional 7 pieces of orchestral arrangements the Investigations Collection includes that I previously didn’t know where they’re from. 4 of them are from the 15th Anniversary Orchestra Concert of the Ace Attorney series. The album has 13 tracks in total but the Investigations Collection only includes the 4 that are relevant to the Investigations games. These are:
Triumphant Return – Miles Edgeworth
The Steel Samurai – Warrior of Neo Olde Tokyo
Ace Attorney Investigations – Fateful Meetings
Ace Attorney Investigations Suite – A Great Path
The other 3 are from the Orchestra Concert 2019 (15 tracks in total):
Triumphant Return – Miles Edgeworth
The Steel Samurai: Warrior of Neo Olde Tokyo
Ace Attorney Investigations Deduction and Pursuit Suite
Despite the website saying the collection would have 23 orchestral tracks in total, here you can actually see 24! Assumably, the one completely new track they mention (which I assume is the main screen music for the collection) is also orchestral and therefore gets sorted into the Orchestral Arrangements. The track is marked with [AAI Collection] and titled „Prelude to Pursuit – Search for the („Truth“, I assume)“. Nice to get confirmation on this!

The last thing I want to mention is some of the lines they chose to showcase in this trailer. Some interesting decisions there. We have this line from Manfred von Karma at the time he was mentoring Miles. Wonderfully exemplary of where Miles started and a great contrast to where he stands in the Investigations games! It also gives a nice hint towards the case in Investigations where you play as young Miles which is definitely an intriguing prospect going into this game for the first time.

However, what I really want to highlight is this line from Miles which they end the trailer on. This is taken from towards the end of Investigations 2 right before you call out the main villain of the game – the single greatest twist in the entirety of this series! What a highlight to end the trailer on! It’s obviously a badass line but the additional context makes it even more so. Hype!

This image features a highly detailed, artistic depiction of a humanoid figure with robotic and organic elements combined into a harmonious and creative design. The central character appears to be a female-presenting android or cyborg, blending human-like features with mechanical structures in a way that emphasizes both beauty and technology.
The figure is kneeling on a natural, stone-like surface surrounded by a serene outdoor environment. The background includes large, moss-covered stone pillars, suggesting a setting with ancient or nature-integrated architecture. The lighting is bright and natural, indicating a sunny day, with soft light casting gentle shadows and enhancing the metallic sheen of the character's robotic components. The character's body is a blend of human anatomy and mechanical construction. Her face is expressive, with golden, glowing eyes that give her an otherworldly and futuristic appearance. She has a short hairstyle adorned with a golden, crown-like accessory, adding an element of regality. Her expression, with hands held delicately near her face, conveys surprise, wonder, or contemplation, inviting viewers to imagine her story or emotional state. Her upper body is clad in a form-fitting dress made of intricate, rust-colored fabric with a floral or lace-like pattern, blending traditional design with futuristic aesthetics. The dress complements her mechanical components, which include arms and legs made of a bronze or copper-colored metal. These robotic limbs are detailed with visible joints, rivets, and mechanical textures that contrast with the organic appearance of her face and clothing. Despite the mechanical nature of her limbs, the pose and gestures appear graceful and lifelike. Jewelry and decorative elements enhance her appearance, including earrings, bangles, and a coiled choker reminiscent of traditional cultural adornments. These accessories highlight the fusion of tradition and technology, making the character visually striking and conceptually rich. The setting contributes to the overall atmosphere of the image. The stone pillars in the background are covered in lush green moss, symbolizing nature's reclaiming of technology or coexistence between the natural world and advanced machinery. The ground is detailed with subtle textures, adding realism and depth to the scene. The artistry of the image is notable in its attention to detail, from the realistic rendering of light on metallic surfaces to the nuanced textures of fabric and skin. The combination of futuristic and traditional elements evokes themes of coexistence, identity, and evolution, making the image not only visually appealing but also thought-provoking. In summary, this image presents a beautifully rendered, imaginative character that merges the organic and mechanical in a serene, nature-integrated setting. It invites the viewer to explore themes of humanity, technology, and the blending of past and future in a captivating and elegant manner.

From the initial sketch to the final polish, every step of the process was shared online, giving viewers an intimate look at the craftsmanship and emotional investment behind the ring. The couple’s authenticity and passion sparked genuine engagement, making the content inherently shareable and emotionally compelling.
A Design That Broke All Traditions
Halo Round Cut Diamond Engagement Ring
What made this engagement ring stand out was its bold defiance of traditional norms. Rather than a classic solitaire or halo, this ring featured a custom-cut, radiant diamond flanked by asymmetric gemstone accents — each gem representing a milestone in their relationship.
The setting was a hand-forged platinum band, delicately sculpted to mimic intertwined vines, symbolizing unity and growth. The band featured micropavé detailing, offering a brilliant sparkle from every angle without overpowering the center stone.
Its uniqueness didn’t just lie in its materials but in the unapologetic narrative it told — one of identity, adventure, and shared dreams. It was not just an engagement ring. It was a work of art.
Why Personalization Is the New Luxury
Oval Cut Halo Diamond engagement ring
In a world of mass production, personalization is the pinnacle of luxury. This viral ring underscored a trend that’s dominating the jewelry industry: hyper-customized engagement rings. Buyers today are looking for more than just carat weight — they want meaning, story, and uniqueness.
The viral ring was a perfect example of how personal touches can make a design iconic:
A sapphire from a trip to Sri Lanka
An engraved message only visible under magnification
The bride’s birthstone subtly embedded under the center stone
These are not just decorative additions; they’re emotional bookmarks that make a piece timeless. The attention to detail elevated the ring to an heirloom-in-the-making, not just a fashion statement.
The Role of Social Media in the Ring’s Popularity
Oval Cut Halo Diamond Engagement Ring
What made this ring explode across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest was its jaw-dropping reveal video. Shot in ultra-HD with soft background music and voiceovers explaining the design process, the video received over 10 million views in under a week.
Influencers, jewelers, and even celebrities reposted the video, admiring the ring’s unique aesthetic. Key hashtags like #CustomEngagementRing, #DiamondGoals, and #ViralProposal helped it dominate the jewelry-related content landscape.
But it wasn’t just visuals. The accompanying emotional captions and storytelling format turned a piece of jewelry into a viral phenomenon.
Craftsmanship That Elevates Emotion
White Gold Halo Diamond Engagement Ring
One cannot underestimate the value of expert craftsmanship in creating a ring that becomes iconic. The jeweler behind the piece employed decades of expertise, combining traditional hand-setting techniques with modern 3D CAD design.
Each stone was handpicked for clarity, color, and ethical sourcing, and the band underwent multiple quality inspections to ensure flawless durability and comfort. The final product was not only visually striking but also built to last — a perfect blend of beauty and strength, much like the relationship it represented.
The Rise of Ethical, Lab-Grown Diamonds
Dual-Tone Double Halo Round Cut Diamond Engagement Ring
Another noteworthy element contributing to the ring’s viral nature was its use of a lab-grown diamond — a nod to sustainability and modern values. With consumers becoming more environmentally conscious, lab-grown diamonds have skyrocketed in popularity.
This ring featured a 3-carat D color, VS1 clarity lab-grown diamond, indistinguishable from mined stones to the naked eye. Not only was it more affordable, but it also aligned with the couple’s commitment to ethical practices.
Its viral impact wasn’t just about aesthetics — it was a statement about conscious consumerism in the luxury space.
Design Trends Sparked by the Viral Ring
Rose Gold Double Halo Princess Cut Diamond Engagement Ring
Since the post went live, jewelers across the globe have reported an uptick in requests for similar features, including:
Nature-inspired bands
Hidden gemstone details
Multi-stone asymmetrical settings
Custom engraving with meaningful coordinates or dates
This single piece has reshaped how couples think about their engagement rings, shifting focus from traditional templates to intimate storytelling through design.
What This Ring Teaches Us About Engagement in the Digital Age
Rose Gold 3 Prongs Pear Diamond Engagement Ring
More than just a viral moment, this engagement ring highlighted the power of authenticity. In the digital age, consumers crave more than polished images — they want to be part of a journey. By sharing the behind-the-scenes design, the couple made thousands feel invested in their love story.
This emotional involvement turned viewers into brand advocates, leading to organic reach, reposts, and international press coverage. Jewelry brands must recognize that today, it’s not just about selling a product — it’s about selling an experience and a narrative.
How Jewelers Can Replicate This Success
White Gold Vintage Milgrain Halo Pear Cut Diamond Ring
For jewelers looking to recreate this viral success, the strategy is clear:
Offer Customization — Let customers co-create, not just buy.
Document the Journey — Share the design process from sketch to final reveal.
Create Emotional Touchpoints — Use symbolism, personalization, and storytelling.
Leverage Social Media Powerfully — Optimize your visuals for platforms and use storytelling in captions.
Prioritize Ethics and Transparency — Consumers value sustainability, now more than ever.
Final Thoughts
This engagement ring didn’t go viral because of luck. It did because it touched hearts, broke traditions, and told a compelling story. It is a shining example of what the future of fine jewelry looks like — personal, purposeful, and profoundly beautiful.
If you’re planning to design your own engagement ring or looking to stand out in the jewelry industry, take inspiration from this masterpiece — because when design meets emotion, magic happens.

How to Optimize Your Home Office for the Best Video Conference Experience
As remote work becomes the norm for many professionals, optimizing your home office for video conferences is more important than ever. Whether you’re attending business meetings, catching up with colleagues, or collaborating on projects, the right setup can make a huge difference in the quality of your video calls. A professional, distraction-free environment not only improves communication but also enhances your credibility during virtual meetings. Let’s explore how to create the ideal video conference setup with simple adjustments to lighting, background, camera positioning, and equipment.
Choosing the Right Lighting, Background, and Camera Positioning
One of the easiest yet most impactful ways to improve your video conferencing experience is by focusing on lighting. Poor lighting can make you appear like a silhouette or leave you looking washed out. To ensure you look your best on camera, position yourself in front of a natural light source if possible. A window can provide excellent lighting, but if you’re working at night or need additional light, invest in a ring light or adjustable desk lamp. These lights can be easily adjusted to ensure even and flattering lighting, making your face clear and visible.
Next, consider your background. A cluttered or distracting background can take the focus off you and make the meeting feel unprofessional. Opt for a clean and tidy space, or if you don’t have a dedicated office, use a virtual background. Many video conferencing platforms allow you to set a virtual backdrop that looks professional and polished. If you don’t want to use a virtual background, simply position your camera so that your background looks neat and free of distractions.
When it comes to camera positioning, aim for eye-level placement. This ensures a natural and engaging angle, as looking down or up at the camera can make you appear disengaged or unprofessional. If you’re using a laptop, consider placing it on a stand or a stack of books to raise it to eye level. The camera should capture your face and upper body, ensuring that you remain visible and engaged during the call.

Selecting the Best Headsets, Microphones, and Cameras
The right audio and video equipment is crucial for clear communication during a video conference. A poor-quality microphone or webcam can disrupt the flow of a meeting, causing frustration for both you and your colleagues.
For audio, invest in a high-quality headset or external microphone. Built-in laptop microphones often pick up background noise or create echo, which can be distracting. A headset with a noise-canceling feature ensures that your voice is clear while blocking out ambient noise. Wireless headsets can offer flexibility, but if you prefer reliability, wired ones might be a better option for consistent audio performance.
As for your camera, while laptop webcams can work in a pinch, an external camera will often provide better quality. Many external webcams now offer HD resolution, providing clearer and more professional video. Look for a camera with auto-focus and adjustable angles for more flexibility during calls. For those who attend frequent video meetings, investing in a good quality webcam will ensure you look your best every time.
The Importance of a Quiet and Clutter-Free Environment
Noise can be one of the biggest distractions during a video conference. Ensure your workspace is in a quiet area of your home where interruptions are minimized. Consider using noise-canceling headphones to further reduce background noise, especially if you’re in a house with multiple people or pets. If you're unable to find a quiet space, noise-dampening curtains or acoustic panels can help reduce unwanted sounds from other parts of your home.
Clutter can also negatively impact your virtual presence. A messy desk or background can distract others from the conversation and make the environment feel unprofessional. Keep your workspace organized by removing unnecessary items, and make sure your camera view focuses only on the essentials. A tidy, organized space will help you stay focused and present during meetings.

Tips for Creating a Professional-Looking Setup on a Budget
You don’t need to spend a fortune to create a professional-looking home office setup for video conferences. Here are some budget-friendly tips to elevate your space:
DIY Lighting Solutions: If you don’t have a ring light, use a simple desk lamp with adjustable brightness. Position it in front of you at an angle to enhance your face and reduce shadows.
Use Books or Boxes for Camera Height: No fancy camera stand? Stack a few books or boxes to raise your laptop to eye level, ensuring you have the best angle for your meetings.
Virtual Backgrounds: Instead of investing in a new backdrop, use virtual backgrounds provided by your video conferencing platform. Choose professional and clean options that suit your industry.
Affordable Audio Equipment: While high-end headsets can be expensive, many budget-friendly options provide excellent sound quality and noise cancellation. Look for deals or well-reviewed brands to find an affordable headset.
With these simple tips, you can create a video conference-friendly home office setup without breaking the bank.
At VoxTBV, we provide a range of audio-video conferencing tools, conference phones, and headsets to help you optimize your home office for seamless virtual communication.
Conclusion
Creating the ideal home office for video conferencing doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. By focusing on the essentials—lighting, background, camera positioning, and equipment—you can significantly improve the quality of your virtual meetings. With the right setup, you’ll not only look professional but also communicate more effectively. Are you ready to upgrade your home office and make your video calls more productive and professional?

I've only played The House of the Dead Remake for like 4 hours total and I do think the game sucks actually! I love that it's a near 100% remake of the original down to the zombie spawns but my GOOOOOOD the visual clutter and some general UX things are fucking horrendous. When I bought the game high as shit on Sunday night, I played through the campaign immediately and finished it because duh I've been playing the shit out of the game at the arcade occasionally since last year. Since then I've mostly been doing IL practice on Stage 2 because I don't really get a good opportunity to do that at the arcade without wasting a bunch of time.
Anyway here's some things that irk me about the Remake:
Blood splatter is RIDICULOUS. Shit just looks like paint splattering everywhere and leads to a very annoying experience with visual clutter. In rail shooters like this, visuals are key, they are everything. If you can't see shit, you can't shoot shit. And if you can't shoot shit, you will die very quickly, which brings me to the next point.
Some enemies attack you damn near frame 1 in this game, or at least WAY faster than before. I'm not saying this didn't happen in the original, it does for a select few zombies, but those were the ones whose spawn locations you were expected to know, e.g. the green swamp looking mfs that pop in from the ceiling in Stage 2. Maybe they thought the original game was too slow or whatever, but I disagree with this direction. This is a problem when you consider the previous point.
In visuals again, it is sometimes difficult to tell if an enemy is in range to attack you. I don't how else to describe this other than "I'm looking at a zombie who is, from what I can tell, kinda far away, but somehow I am still getting hit?" Move the damn thing closer or fix the camera distance! Examples: in Stage 2, if you take the underground path in the beginning, there's two green zombies with knives falling towards you. Okay great, why are they hitting me when they haven't even gotten close to me? Another in the same stage: after rescuing a scientist in a room who's about to be thrown by one of the muscular zombies, about 3 green zombies fall from the ceiling. I cannot seem to avoid damage here and the reason is for a combination of all three of these points: I cannot tell which one is attacking me, blood and visual clutter ruins my vision, and why are they hitting me from 10 feet away? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE PLEASE. I played a quick practice IL just this morning and purposely did not shoot so I could understand wtf was happening here. I still don't. What the fuck?
Last thing in visuals: it's hard to tell where enemies are. To best describe this, you know how in old cartoons you could tell what would be interacted with because it was colored differently than the rest of the scene? They need to do that for this game. I understand the part of it being a remake is to really play up that this is a mansion full of undead, experimented-on humans, and making it darker and "scarier" is part of the experience but also no. If you're gonna change the time of day to evening/night, then you gotta make sure shit is visible. Remember, this game is first and foremost a rail shooter, not survival horror. Make the enemies stand out from the background a bit more so I know I'm supposed to shoot the damn things. The OG game is bright and colorful as hell so unless there's a knife being thrown at you, chances are you are GOING to see it!
Overall UI and UX issues. The UI is kinda shit and the overall user experience can be improved. Why am I constantly getting told to reload?! (I know you can turn this off and I did immediately but it should have been thought through a bit more). I know the game is traditionally very goofy on principle but you don't need to make your UI text a weird combination of Chiller and Comic Sans lol. The major UX issues are the points I described above.
I appreciate the fact that this game got remade and seeing the mansion in HD really sheds some light on some environmental quirks I couldn't make out in the OG game but goddamn this game has some issues lol. Still fun to play tho and it is helping me remember zombie spawns in the level for my next arcade visit, which is literally the reason I got the game. I'm trying to 1CC the OG game at the arcade I frequent because I think it would be fun to learn a game I've loved since I was a kid. That's really it.

The best of science, now on Instagram! Follow @sciencex.physorg.🌍🔬

I just found something very important.
You know Shock Spears? The things that Irkens use as weapons.

These things.
We’ve never seen a really detailed look at them because they’re always in the background or not in proper focus in the scenes they’re in.
And that’s a real shame because not only are they cool, going by the pictures above they all seem slightly unique compared to one another.
EXCEPT I KNOW WHERE A HIGH DEFINITION HD QUALITY SHOCK SPEAR CAN BE FOUND!
NICKELODEON ALL STAR FUCKING BRAWL. ZIM USES HIS OWN SHOCK SPEAR AS PART OF HIS MOVESET!
That means that if someone just looked into the files of NASB, they’re be able to find the model of Zim’s spear and we’d have the best look at a Shock Spear we’ve ever seen. And on top of that it’s ZIM’S shock spear, and from what we’ve seen so far all shock spears are at least slightly unique, AND from the picture here of Zim using his shock spear it looks like it has some sort of unique design on it with some blue parts visible on the spear.
PLEASE TELL ME THAT SOMEONE KNOWS HOW TO NAVIGATE CODE FOR THIS. I WILL LEARN CODE AND DO IT MYSELF IF I HAVE TO.

Some new disability pins
You can find them, and any other ones like this I make, here:
[ID: Seven circular designs with transparent backgrounds. Each is light yellow, with the top of a black cat's head at the bottom so that only its forehead and ears are visible, with pink insides.
Black text in the font Arial in all caps is above the cat's ears on each pin, reading, in order from top to bottom and left to right:
"I am deaf"
"I am hard of hearing"
"I have audio processing disorder", with "loading…please wait…" above the cat's ears.
"I have audio processing disorder"
"Please be patient I am Deaf"
"Please be patient I am hard of hearing"
"Please be patient I have audio processing disorder"
End ID.]
You are encouraged to download and save these, and use them for anything you like! Including make your own buttons, stickers, or shirts if you've got the resources!
