Soooooo, I'm currently trying to figure out how I want Rex to react to explosions, mainly fireworks.

His whole schtick is being a super cool tough guy who goes on adventures, meaning that there are going to be plenty of times when he has to deal with the sounds of explosions or just really loud sounds in general.

Now in a previous post, I mentioned that I personally headcanon that he has some form of scarring on his (I'm pretty sure left side) from crashing into the glasstroid, and being caught in his spaceship exploding. The sound of the dryer/washing machine running had to have been really loud too.

So I feel like he'll have some underlying trauma and ptsd from the way that an explosion was what got him trapped in Undar.

The sounds or sight of a washing machine/dryer is what the fandom seems to have collectively decided is something that triggers him. Which y'know, I agree with. But it would be so interesting to see his reactions when it comes to other really loud sounds and explosions.

I love Rex just being dramatic, and loving those action sequences where the characters come out of a building just before it blows. So I think if he's in a good head space and has some control of the explosion (like from a grenade), then he doesn't mind it that much, enjoys it even.

But if the man's in a bad headspace? Then any sound of something exploding (Like fireworks) is going to send him into a panic while he launches headfirst into a flashback of crashing into Undar.

Even more angsty is if he experiences some phantom pain and his scars will just flare up sometimes.
