What was the first idea you had for Adagio in Green?

I think it was that there was stuff I wanted to see in post-movie fics that other people weren't doing. That was definitely the spark that started Adagio.

But also I really, really REALLY wanted to give the Rise boys a farmhouse arc! The farmhouse is iconic for TMNT and Rise was robbed of theirs in canon. So I'm giving them one! In part 2 of AiG. Because part 1 ended up longer than I meant it to be lol.

Personal thoughts on chapter below cut (Contains Spoilers)

He dreamed he was held, safe and soft and warm. He dreamed of the voices of his family, calling his name, talking to him, crying for him. He dreamed of home, of his father’s gentle hand, of the smell of the sewers, of the hum of Donnie’s tech, of the flashes of color from Mikey’s paintings, of the hulking form of Raph pressing Leo closer, closer, closest until Leo could swear he heard his older brother’s heart beating. He dreamed of the overwhelming stench of chemicals and the iron taste of blood. He dreamed of sharp stings and hands holding him down and hot tears on his face. He dreamed of April’s gentle commanding voice and Raph’s fear stink clouding his senses. He dreamed he heard Donnie crying but when he tried to reach out he was held back, held down, and though the surface was soft it made him ache to know his brother was in pain and Leo couldn’t do anything to help.

I adore what a visual image this right here paints for the reader!! Right here, days were summarized into two paragraphs of hazy confusion. All blurring together, all messed into one fever dream. I love how though not much is explained, my mind just expands on this so much, pulling up so many scenarios, and situations that may or may not have happened. Fantastic!!

It took hardly a second for him to register the metal gleaming around him in the dark, to sense the cold air on his skin, to feel the bone deep throbbing pain pulsing dully through his entire body. His heartbeat soared and adrenaline fired lightning down his veins, his eyes widening, panic whiting out his thoughts. He was still there, he was still in the Prison Dimension. The light had been a lie, he had never escaped, he was still there in the cold and the dark with the Krang and he was never going to escape. Even death had abandoned him. He was still in that frigid, lifeless hell and there was something on his face.

Oooooh I feel like, had there been a light of some sorts, this may have gone somewhat better. Poor Leo, the boy needs some hugs.

Leo scrambled, thrashing under whatever was tangled on top of him, pawing with clumsy, aching hands at his face to free himself. There was a beeping noise in his ear, something clattering and clanging, the sounds of metal, and his panic rose. He yanked at the thing over his snout, gasping as it scraped against the back of his head and finally fell onto his lap. It hardly registered because he was already trying to get up, already trying to move, to run, to get away before the Krang could find him again. Leo’s body was screaming in pain but he swallowed the agony down, clamped his jaw shut and pushed himself to move, to run, to get away. He didn’t have anywhere to go but he couldn’t take it anymore, he didn’t want to hurt anymore, he just wanted to rest, please, please, just let him rest. Voices clashed against the beeping sounds, the rattling, the banging, the crashing. It was a wall of sound, beating against his senses, overwhelming him. He just needed to find a place to hide! But when he tried to run, he tumbled off an edge and crashed to the ground with a soft cry of pain, stars bursting behind his eyes and his head spinning as the electric agony blinded him to everything else.

Oh my gosh, once again, such a picture was painted here!! What I love about his, is how this is written in such a way that we can see from both Leo's POV, and our own as the reader. We can see the confusion and fear Leo is feeling, we can see the conclusions he's making, and how and why he's thinking that. Then, as the reader, we're able to take what Leo's experiencing, and paint it into a scene. A scene of the med bay, of panicked brothers, of equipment, and pain and how scared the other brothers must be seeing this. Two scenes in one.

Something dry and crinkled and torn on the edges was pressed into his hand. Leo closed his fist around it and yanked his hand to his plastron with a gasping sob. The picture, his family, it was back, he had them. They were safe. They would always be safe.

Right here, I can only imagine how Leo's brothers are seeing this. From Leo's perspective, I can see how this is logical. He thinks he's still stuck in the prison dimension, and this is the last memoir of his family that he owns. To loose it, is to have no reason left to live. But his brothers, oh his poor family. They're seeing as he's panicking, not seeing them, and screaming for the photo. They're probably trying to assure him that they're there, and he's not hearing them. They're probably confused, and scared, and in that moment of extreme panic, they ran around, searching for the photo, until someone comes running back to shove it into his hands. There are so many scenes, so many stories, so much implied right here!!

Though this chapter is short, its so incredibly impactful! So much is told in so little words!!

Happy Birthday Adagio in Green!

Part 1 of my post-movie Rise fic turned 2 years old today! I'm really proud of the work I've done on AiG. Thank you to everyone who has left kudos and comments and bookmarked the fic, who's made fan art, and the lurkers who quietly read without leaving a trace. And of course a big thanks to my amazing beta readers! I don't think I would have gotten as far as I did without everyone's encouragement and feedback. <3 Part 2 of AiG is in the works and I aim to have it up sometime in the latter half of the year. Hope to see you all there!

The turtles have been through a lot since the invasion, but there's still a long way to go before they're back on their feet. The most important part is, of course, to remember that they are never alone.

This post will update periodically as the stats listed change.

Please note that the number of fanfics in the inbox will decrease as asks are answered, meaning; asks with huge amounts of fanfics listed, will count as fanfics in my inbox until answered. If an ask has 10 fanfics on it, my fanfic count will keep those 10 until the ask in question is answered.

Asks are answered by date received, and in order, unless containing a high amount of fanfics. In that case, fanfic will be read staggered, meaning I'll read one from a high fic count ask, then read one from a low fic count ask, then back again. That way asks don't become static, while I work my way through big ones.

The word count for Adagio in Green: Panacea on the Fanfic List Masterpost has been updated from 225.5k words to 234k words!

Along with that, I've changed the name from Adagio in Green: Panacea, to Adagio in Green on the Fanfic List Masterpost and labeled it as series.

I'm super incredibly excited to see where this series goes, and once the next part comes out, I'll rewrite the rating for Adagio in Green by adding on a series rating, and individual arc ratings.

@boxfullaturtles congrats on writing this much, and making it so far into your story!! Its a huge achievement, and its been wonderful reading along as you've posted your chapters!! <3

I can't believe we're here! Gonna be honest, there were a few times I wasn't sure if I could do this. It's been a long time since I wrote such a long fic. But I did it! Part 1 is finished! Thank you all so much for being here for it and reading and commenting and everything! It means the world!

I wanted to tell you, how much your fanfic Adagio in Green: Panacea, brings me joy!! The way you portray the boys is just so precious!! I love how well they get along, and how sweet they are with each other, even when things are going bad!!

Also, one of my favorite things about your fanfics, is how well you utilize turtle sounds!! I completely adore how they click, chirp, and churr all of the time!! Its just so special and precious!!

I've been following along with your fic for a little while now (since they first got in the hospital) and its been so wonderful reading each of the chapters as they've come out!!!
