Wasted Talent
WITHNAIL AND I The REP, Birmingham, Tuesday 14th May 2024 Bruce Robinson’s film from 1987, which he wrote and directed, quite rightfully became a cult classic, with its depiction of decadence and squalor at the end of the 1960s. Now, Robinson adapts his own screenplay for the stage, bringing to my mind two initial questions: Will the fans be satisfied? Will newcomers get it? First and…

✘ CODY RHODES can't wake up from this American Nightmare. Rumor has it, the killer was trynna fuck on him.
✘ Two is better than one, in most cases. CALOUB SOPP and BRIE GARCIA tried to partner up on their journey through the hallway, but their harmless conversation complaining about their siblings gave away their location. The killer got a two for one!
✘ The grandfather clock in the dining room struck midnight and started to chime. Of course, TIFFANY STRATTON just couldn't resist calling out It's Tiffy Time! She was seized shortly afterwards.
✘ ANNA JAY made it all the way to the exit. But she stopped to take a few selfies by the door on her way out. #MADEIT #FINALGIRL #BLESSED -- #CAPTURED before she could put one foot out the door.
✘ In a last ditch effort to escape, NORA VIGIER picked up ROXANNE PEREZ and threw her at the killer. Poor Roxy. It's giving flashbacks from earlier this week. If y'all could stop throwing around our NXT Women's Champion, that'd be great. Both ladies were captured.
✓ After threatening an RKO out of nowhere but laughing it off, both ADAM COLE and RANDY ORTON made it out of the haunted house without incident. Congratulations to the killer,🔪 NATHAN FRAZER for capturing seven players.

Last Night in Soho (2021) Review
Last Night in Soho (2021) Review
Eloise is an aspiring fashion designer who moves to London for University and as she moves into a new building her room allows her to enter the 1960s and see things from the past unfold all over again. The glamour isn’t all it seems to be though as these dreams start to crack and turn very dark, meaning she cannot focus on her own reality. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (more…)

Sō Percussion, MEDIAQUEER, Adam Tendler, Alex Sopp, Beth Meyers, Shelley Washington, Grey Mcmurray — Stay On It (So Percussion Editions)
Stay On It by Sō Percussion, MEDIAQUEER, Adam Tendler, Alex Sopp, Beth Meyers, Shelley Washington, Grey Mcmurray
Even if the music was only a fraction as interesting, the process by which this recording of composer Julius Eastman’s 1973 Stay On It was made would be compelling on its own. As the ensemble described it, the renewed interest in Eastman’s work prompted them to seek out one of his works; this particular recording was made by the quartet together, than bolstered by additional contributions recorded remotely by musicians like yMusic’s Alex Sopp and the flute/electronics duo MEDIAQUEER.
Talented artists, all. But what makes this recording of Stay On It click as well as it does is the extent to which it doesn’t feel like a work assembled piecemeal. Had the recording notes not mentioned the remote contributions, it would be easy to believe that this was recorded live, so well do the musicians mesh. To the extent that any one element feels disassociated from the rest, it’s the use of multiple vocalists singing the title of the composition — but given that the effect here evokes tape loops going slightly out of sync, that sense of distance works perfectly well in context.
The overall mood here is one of buoyant minimalism, and for the first third of the piece, a steady rhythm with a few nimble permutations endures. At just over nine minutes in, the disparate instruments that have been playing along converge, and the effect is something that swings magnificently, with Sopp’s woodwind work making an especially forceful impact. From there, the composition takes on a more staggered approach, incorporating occasional breaks along with precise stops and starts that would make an average post-punk band blush — and it’s not long before the music turns more atonal and the blissed-out vocals take on a harsher quality.
The final third of the piece takes on a sparser mood, with strings continuing the melody even as the percussion fades into the backdrop. The effect is sprawling, with moments echoing the more cosmic rock music emerging from recording studios and concert halls at the same time Eastman was composing this. Can a piece of music be both elegiac and ecstatic? This recording answers in the affirmative.

A part of me wishes that LEGO, TT Games and WB Interactive included Ron in LEGO Dimensions so I can play as the Golden Trio causing all sorts of magical shenanigans all across various LEGO-verse worlds on Buckbeak and Mr. Weasley’s Flying Ford Anglia.
Don’t get wrong: I’m grateful that they included Harry and Hermione in Year 2, but poor Ron deserves so more love as well. Also, they could’ve hire back Daniel Radcliffe (despite him wanting to move on from being just Harry; come on, pal, please play Harry a few more times PLEASE) or even Adam Sopp (Who voiced Harry in the last 4 EA HP games) to voice Harry INSTEAD of just using Archive Audio from the films for my big brother; if Emma Watson returned to voice ‘Mione in LD, then I bet that Rupert Grant and Dan could have returned to play Ron and Harry for one last ride with her together. What a missed opportunity, guys...

Once more unto The Barn, dear friends...once more...
The award-winning Barn Theatre is like that friend who says quietly and confidently, 'I have big plans'. There’s a silence, you all have a little josh about it and then they actually go and pull it off. In an epic way.

Following the beautiful production of Butterfly Lion (whose acclaimed writer Michael Murpurgo said 'It was so much better than the book...’) comes the Barn Theatre's first production of Shakespeare.
Now if anyone was going to take on Shakespeare they may well start with Romeo and Juliet or a bit of Bottom and Titania but not our Rocker friends. They offer a full on blasting of fight and intrigue with their take of Henry V which is a masterstroke as it's contemporary, passionate and will leave you utterly transfixed. The pace never lets up and the cast delivers each line of Shakespearean text as clear as modern English. Phew.

The production sucks you in from the moment you arrive, as you find your seat (and are careful not to spill your v good wine from the bar) the cast jokes with each other on stage...we’re introduced to the happy, uncomplicated youth of today. Innocents, having fun, enjoying each other’s company ....unaware of the fate before them.
The cast is incredible with leads played by Aaron Sidwell (who's starred in a vast number of productions including Wicked and Ghost) and Lauren Samuels (Bend it Like Beckham and We Will Rock You), each member effortlessly plays several different roles in succession and each of them believable and powerful.

For those who may not know Henry V, it takes place in England and Henry has just been crowned. Several civil wars have left the country irritated and restless and in order to gain respect the new monarch must play down his wild past (fabulously played out in a nightclub) and show he is a true leader. He tenuously tries to claim parts of France and unsurprisingly doesn't gain the support of the French but is undeterred and those Henry was close to during his time of revelry (who he dismissed when rising through the ranks of royalty) back him and prepare for war.
Just before setting off, Henry hears of traitors plotting against him and executes three, including his friend. Battle commences and against all odds, the English win and the French surrender. Peace negotiations include the marriage between Katherine, daughter of the French King and Henry. There is a lovely scene with a chic and coy Katherine (wonderfully played by Samuels who also plays 'Boy' a young soldier equally convincingly) trying to learn some basic English words to make the union with Henry smoother.

The story is brought up to the minute with references, via a vast, turbulent screen, to Brexit but, fear not those who’ve had enough of the subject, it’s much more than that - it’s about the banality of war and fragility of forced unions, the decisions of those in higher ranks, who are unaware and uncaring of the fatal consequences. The reminder that teenagers are one minute raving in T-shirts and jeans with their mates and then trussed in a uniform trudging through a littered battlefield the next.
There is anticipation as the cast moves deftly from stage to the aisles (fear not shrinking violets, there’s only one moment of audience participation) and the intimacy of the theatre and sensation of the production is equal to the buzz of seeing your favourite artist up close at the Edinburgh festival with the powerful and passionate performances you’d find at the National Theatre.

The original score is fantastic and costumes authentic and impressive. The set is a clever, simple scaffolding that is multi-faceted - from a convincing bookmakers to ladders over trenches. It’s a gutsy, thrilling production that stays with you long after the cast has taken its bows.
So if you’re missing the thrill of Game of Thrones or just need an evening of heart-racing action and dialogue then don’t delay - Henry V - runs for just another few days until 22 June.
The full cast includes: Matt Ray Brown (Exeter/Orleans), Alicia Charles (Bardolph/Williams) Elin Philips (Fluelllen), Lauren Samuels (Katherine/Boy), Aaron Sidwell (Henry), Adam Sopp (Pistol/Constable), Sarah Waddell (Queen of France) and Jonathan Woolf (Nym/Dauphin).
Directed by Hal Chambers with designs by Emily Leonard, fight direction by Christos Dance, movement direction by Kate Webster, composition by Harry Smith, projection designs by Benjamin Collins, sound desing by Chris Cleal and lighting by Sam Rowcliffe Tanner.

[ad_1] At final – the lengthy awaited “repost” characteristic in Instagram is coming quickly. But not for all customers. On September eighth, a Meta consultant confirmed to TechCrunch that they plan to check the repost characteristic quickly to a choose group of individuals. As of at the moment, Meta has not publicly introduced this soon-to-be characteristic. The Reposts Tab Is Being Tested So, how did this information break to the neighborhood? Matt Navara, a social media advisor, screenshotted the profile of Adam Mosseri, present Head of Instagram, to his Twitter followers on September seventh. Image supply: Matt Navaro through Twitter Based on the screenshot proof, it appears to be like like customers will get a Repost tab inside their profile. This tab will probably home all reposts a person has shared to their account. After further web sleuthing, others had been capable of finding the introduction display screen for customers getting chosen to check the characteristic – launched months in the past by Alessandro Paluzzi: Image supply: Alessandro Paluzzi through Twitter.com This information turns into related once more, as plainly Adam’s profile is the primary to be noticed with the Reposts characteristic within the wild. Instagram might have been planning this for fairly a while and are quietly rolling out the Beta check now. Keeping Up With Other Platforms The repost characteristic in Instagram appears to be a very long time coming. The platform already permits customers to share posts inside their tales, however not of their feed. Twitter has lengthy held this sort of characteristic with its Retweet operate, enabling customers to reshare tweets from customers to their Twitter feed. TikTok has additionally joined the resharing bandwagon by testing out its personal model of reposting. TikTok at present has a Repost characteristic that shares the particular content material to a customers’ followers. However, it doesn’t have the potential to point out all of the person’s shared posts. Why This Matters Until now, Instagram customers had to make use of a third social gathering app to have the ability to repost content material. Having third social gathering apps related to any social profile has a danger of privateness and safety points. By including the Repost characteristic, customers are capable of do away with undesirable third social gathering apps and might repost natively. Additionally, the Repost characteristic permits customers to reshare content material immediately inside their feed as a substitute of of their tales options. From a content material perspective, the Repost characteristic supplies alternatives for content material creators to get found faster. As customers can share content material on to their feed, it credit the unique supply. The Expected Rollout Of Reposts While sure customers are seeing this operate within the wild, Instagram has not shared any particulars about its rollout plan – or if it even plans to roll out to all customers. This article can be up to date as extra info is shared concerning the characteristic.
Dos Santos - City of Mirrors (2021)
Ishi Vu - La Luz (2021)
Khurangbin & Leon Bridges - Texas Moon EP (2022)
Minél elbaszottabb dolgok történnek körülöttünk annál jobban esik a Khruangbin zenéje.
Sō Percussion, MEDIAQUEER, Adam Tendler, Alex Sopp, Beth Meyers, Shelley Washington, Grey Mcmurray - Stay On It (2021)
Régi vágyam, hogy rendesen elmerüljek a 60-as, 70-es évek minimalista szerzőinek világában.
Pan-American - The Patience Fader (2022)
Csodálatos, megrázó ambient. Nem alibizős, maszatolós háttérzene, hanem igazán (film)zenei, utaztató, szuggesztív lemez. Ha hihetünk a bandcamp leírásnak, akkor Brian Eno úgy dicsérte a művésznév mögött rejtőző Mark Nelsont, hogy olyan mintha Duane Eddy játszana Erik Satiet. Tökéletes jellemzés.
