THEME: TTRPGs for Trans Rights in Ohio
This is a special rundown of some of the tabletop games found in the TTRPGs for Trans Rights - Ohio Bundle currently being offered on Itch.io! The offer ends on May 3rd, 2025.
Rebels of the Outlaw Wastes, by Nerdy Pup Games.
Play misfit outlaws fighting against the authoritarian Powers That Be in a hyper-saturated, film-grained, retro dystopia. Save the future with the power of friendship, whoopass, and explosions! Features sticker-based character advancement, effortless cinematic vehicle action, and player-driven Ride-or-Die system usings d4s, d6s, d8s, d10s, and d12s.
Rebels of the Outlaw Wastes is colorful, with art that pops off the page and plenty of ready-to-use scenarios to jump-start play as soon as you sit down at the table. Dive into a post-apocalypse full of young punks in a world you build yourself, with plenty of tools to help you create settlements, beasts, gear, and much much more. If you like car chases and vehicle stunts, this is probably a game for you, with purposefully-designed vehicle scenes written into the game.
Songbirds 3e, by snow.
"Moon's haunted."
Songbirds 3e is a tabletop roleplaying game about undeath, supernatural powers, and the blue dreams of the moon. In the game, you create a strange survivor of the world who was chosen (or cursed) by Death. Spirits aren't able to pass on to the afterlife and grow monstrous with each passing day. You know the songs to send them on. You have the abilities that help you find them. You are the canary in the coal mine.
Songbirds 3e has received a great amount of critical acclaim as a beautiful, mysterious, tantalizing game that blends eldritch fantasy dungeon crawls with pieces of sci-fi blended in. It's inspired by Into the Odd, Persona 5, Blades in the Dark, Red Giant, Disco Elysium, Fallout New Vegas, and much much more.
Sound Check, by Misha.grifka.
Sound Check is a game about being in a band. Rehearse, party, get interviewed and get intimate - but don't forget, it's all leading up to one thing: the Big Show. Each player will have their own musician with a unique playbook, but everyone works together to tell the story of an up-and-coming band, in any musical genre you like.
Running on the Firebrands system, Sound Check will explore the story of your band through a series of scenes, using trope-centred playbooks to build a character with strong beats and clear direction. This game has one of my favorite kinds of mechanics: a stress track that eventually brings you to an explosion, which is an action that adds narrative tension and conflict, such as making an enemy out of a friend, or having an emotional breakdown. If you want drama and heightened emotion, you want Sound Check.
Dinocar, by Dinoberry Jam.
Imagine a world almost entirely the same as our own, except someone's magical wish to meet the dinosaurs came true. But after the welcome party, what were they all to do? Well, they went on to have regular modern lives alongside our own; bills to pay, families to feed, jobs to work. Most unfortunately of all, though, they have cars to drive–and none of them are really any good at it.
That’s what happens when you’re a 12-foot tall reptile with big legs and tiny arms, it’s just really hard to fit into a compact economy-size sedan and even harder to operate the dang thing.
In Dinocar, you and as many friends as you can gather will work together to map out a snippet of that world. You’ll paint a map, draw landmarks, slap buildings into place, and take turns going on chaotic road trips and commutes. At the end of a game of Dinocar, you’ll have a story to tell and a wonderful map to either frame on the wall or stick to the fridge.
Dinocar feels fun & whimsical, and feels perfect for folks who don't like to get messy, as well as kids.
The Stone Flesh Gift, by ATypicalFaux.
A silhouette blocks the stars, darker than the space it drifts through. Several amber eyes encased in crystal peer out from the shadows. When dappled in light from the closest sun, the remnants of petroglyphs can be seen carved across its hull, hewn from a single black stone harder than steel. The ship has no comms, no transponder, just a pulsating thump within a membrane running through the stone like a vein of ore. A glistening docking umbilical gently sways as it’s pulled behind the vessel, stretching toward anything that approaches, looking to touch, to connect.
The Stone-Flesh Gift is a 40-page TTRPG module with a focus on exploration and body horror, to be played with the Mothership sci-fi horror RPG. The players will wade through the innards of a lost ceremonial offering, an ancient alien bio-engineering factory and living ship called The Gift, as they work to avoid its dangers, discover its secrets, and plug their brains directly into its organs to feel their thoughts.
This is the only item on this list that isn't a game in itself, but instead a supplement for a game - but if you like space horror, The Stone Flesh Gift is a title I've seen time and time again. It's great for folks who love body horror, and gritty stories of addiction and disease.
In Conclusion...
If any of these games look interesting to you, get them for a steal by picking up the TTRPGS for Trans Rights Bundle on Itch.io!

We'll do it our way
Been reading a bunch of Humans are Space Orcs and the like, and got me thinking - what if when aliens found humanity and our level of technology and method of propulsion for space travel, they decided that since explosions are way too hazardous and risky, that they're just not gonna let us leave on our vessels (via BS alien magic space tech). As a sort of intergalactic rite of passing (and poor results in the past of elevating a species like that), we have to figure out on our own how to not blow ourselves up once in space. But humans can be spiteful. We "have" to go in a direction they want? Fuck that. Aliens put a dome around Earth so we can't leave? Okay, that's a clear and practical problem to solve. Let's fix that instead!
_____________________________________
It had been just over sixty local cycles since First Contact with Humanity, and exactly sixty since the Federation had unanimously deemed it necessary to position a Responsibility Barrier around Earth.
Through countless observation relays, mass field generators, warp inhibitors (and the less spoken of and even less used laser batteries), any vessel - outside of local communication satellites, unmanned research vessels, or suborbital test vehicles - were prevented from leaving the planet.
Upon discovering Humanity, the Exploratory Commission Fleet quickly discovered a very hardy, innovative, diverse, violent, and adaptable advanced civilization on the cusp of entering the interstellar stage. There was one problem. Humans used explosions. For. Everything.
Their orbital spaces were already littered with micro-debris from their regular ventures into the local system. Practically every type of propulsion utilized highly volatile solutions, and they didn't even pretend to hide or be embarrassed by their history of weaponizing, well, anything and everything to be frank.
Wars and violence were common among nearly all sentient species, but there was something… peculiar, about how nonchalant the Human diplomats were about their supposed "solutions" to "tragedies" of the past.
We explained to them the dangers of their methods, showed examples of what happens when such line of thinking, without discarding these explosive ways, leads to - impassable fields of junk around once well traveled planets, now isolated; hastily jettisoned parts causing mayhem and destruction years down the line; entire Habitation Stations and their occupants reduced to faint rings around their homeworld from an "unplanned ignition"
We explained why we could not simply give them our safe technology, as they have to on their own give up the irresponsible ways first, lest they turned what was once safe into yet another means to an end. They "said" they understood, but it was all too clear the Humans would not follow our advice just like that. Hence the Barrier. This really angered the Humans.
They said it was stifling, that it was barbaric to "imprison" them like that. We tried to explained again why, but they would not listen, but we knew better. This had happened before and we would not allow it to happen again. It was for the greater good of both the Humans and the rest of the Galaxy.
For nearly sixty of their cycles, Humanity continued to advance and develop and flourish. We watched them with excitement at every new avenue of research they steered towards, silently encouraged them to keep going with every failure. They were getting close in several fields, we could see that Humanity was on the precipice of the right track. Then, one day, with a slight shimmer enveloping the planet and an eerie silence on all frequencies, the Earth just… vanished.
The Humans kept their true activity a secret, only after careful analysis of seemingly unrelated and unremarkable records did we figure out they were investigating a long abandoned line of research by all others in the galaxy - interdimensional travel. But there were no other traversable dimensions. That had long been tested by everyone - you can twist and bend and cut through the ones we have, but you are always bound to at least one of them.
It remained a mystery as to what truly happened to Humanity. Officially it was called a tragic scientific accident on an unprecedented scale. Earth and Humanity were memorialized as a bright species with infinite potential, but a recklessness that would serve as one of the starkest examples in the annals of Galactic history.
Until, nearly a millennia later, Earth just… popped back in. Right where it would have been had it continued to orbit around their star, almost as if that's exactly what it had been doing.
There was only a memorial station close to its original orbit, and some small research outposts dotted around the local system - it was decided to not terraform or colonize any of Sol's planets or install major stations within the system, as both a sign of respect to the deceased and a warning to all about the dangers of foolish science.
By the time the scrambled and panicked messages reached the nearest Coalition world and a small squad sent to investigate, everything had changed. Not only did they find Earth and Humanity, they were met by dozens of the largest space worthy vessels anyone had ever conceived of let alone dared to construct; orbital shipyards that each would put the production capacity of whole planetary SYSTEMS to shame; and a defiant attitude unmatched even by the previously thought exaggerated tales of our brief history with Humanity before the Vanishing.
The message we received from the Humans was simple:
"Thanks for the advice, but we do things our way. Now, let's start over, from an equal footing, shall we?"
(more while we were gone)

Ok ok ok your "Humans of Transformers franchise are space orcs" rant is out of this world.
I detest with passion when humans are reduced to pets and plot devices when instead the story could be about two alien species finding one another equally amazing/terrifying for their own respective reasons.
Here is my question: do humans and Cybertronians see how eerily similar they are? They have love of music, familial relationships, similar urban infrastructure, societal structure, financial systems, competitive entertainment, organized societies and war, colonialism, recreational intercourse, marriage...
Not to mention, why was it never addressed how similar both species look: bipedal, waists, noses, cheekbones, 5 fingers, chins, facial expressions and sense of aesthetics and beauty? Sure, humans have hair but in rather strategic places.
Veins and wires, blood and energon, metal and flesh, nanobytes and blood cells, Sparks and brain impulses, sexual organs...
Imagine Autobots arrive on Earth for the first time expecting some primitive cave-dwellers, only to encounter a less advanced mini-version of Cybertronian cities (New York, Singapore, London, Rome, Tokyo, Rio, Dubai...) and societies running on scientific, artistic and philosophical development which has no right existing on the ruthless, all-organic planet such as Earth is. Societes run by creatures who 4.000.000 (the duration of their war) years ago were hanging from the trees btw.
Autobots would be terrified.
Lemme make sure this response saves this time, cause it took me a minute to answer cause my first deleted and I had so much written I got unbelievably angry and refused to even look at the tumblr app.
But here we are.
So, this is EXACTLY what I have been thinking about for who k owe how long. It’s also the intro to this wack as fuck universe idea I’ve had in my head a while, and have kinda hinted at in my other works, but I’ve never gone into detail about.
And I still won’t.
Anyways, yes. It’s crazy that we backlit humans so much when any other sentient species is about. Transformers, TMNT, etc (I’m on a one track mind, feel free to jot down any other fandoms I can’t think of). The main theme of these stories? HUMANS SUCK. And that is severely unfair. People want to cry about how much our generation doesn’t give a shit anymore. Have you SEEN the media we feed kids???
That’s why I live Humans are Space Orcs so much. It really puts into perspective how unique and batshit our species is.
So, onto the Transformers vs humans concepts. The ONLY reason (forgoing technoism and general hate towards organics) cybertronians don’t see humanity as an imminent threat, or one in general, is because of size. WE BE SMALL AF. Can’t blame them, I get it. We do the same. Insects? Fuck them mfs.
But have you seen a botfly or tick burrow into your skin? The infection that comes form that? Have you seen ants jump a small animal as a colony and absolutely shred it? Or a spider only biting you, and the horror the venom causes (recluses and huntsman’s specifically). We have a good fucking reason for disliking these mfs.
But transformers? These are organic experiences. Worst they go through are rust infections, spark death, the works. They are not at risk the same way we are. That is why they view organics as small and inconsequential. They have no idea how hard we fight to simply stay alive.
And now the similarities. It’s understandable that they wouldn’t immediately recognize the physical, cultural, and psychological similarities between our species. Transformers are an incredibly diverse race, like any other. But specifically in physical form. Your average cybertronian holds a similar appearance to your average human. We tend to have the same features, just with different names. Eyes, noses, faceplates, ears, two arms, two legs. Sure that’s average for them too. But they are unique because of the fact that they have two forms. Vehicle mode. Their mode decides what they’re second mode looks like, which can create extreme diversity is appearance. Small, large, many limbed or not.
So the immediate similarities probably wouldn’t jump out to them in an odd way. There’s also the idea that because they’re so spread out in the universe, they’ve seen other organic races that are also similar. Pairs of every body part could be the common denominator among species.
That goes culturally too. War, love, music, government, politics, it’s all a natural form of sentient evolution. Another common denominator. It’s how it’s done that makes it unique. And the similarities between human and cybertronian culture is uncomfortably familiar.
I think that’s why cybertronians are seen being closest with humans rather than other species in the shows and comics (obviously because the audience is human and they need relation to characters but shhhh forget that for a sec). This is where the theories start.
Let’s say cybertronians begin to recognize the weird similarities between our species. The really, really weird stuff. The itty bitty details. Like:
- how we also mainstream kissing on the lips as the top tier romantic gesture.
- use verbal tone and cues for our language.
- have intensely complicated interpersonal relationships in the exact same manner.
- suffer from extreme mental health issues like depression, anxiety, PTSD (I totally headcannon that forms of adhd, autism, and ocd exist in cybertronian society, have y’all not seen my boy rodimus prime??)
- will also destroy each other in the name of our gods, until we have a common enemy.
That’s just the basics I could come up with. The only time I actually saw a moment where a transformer genuinely take a moment to realize that humans can be a threat, was in transformers prime. Episode 6 of beast wars (I think, correct me if wrong), where Miko beats the ever loving fuck out of an insecticon (I think) and upon Megatron hearing this, just goes blank Kubrick stare for a hot second. Man had an ugly realization that did not fit in with anything he had experienced his whole life.
AND THEY NEVER FUCKING ADDRESSED IT EVER AGAIN. Sick of this shit. Could’ve had the most badass character development, where the humans actually proved useful and did something (it would have fit Milo’s character so perfectly too) and scared the utter shit out of the transformers. BUT NO. They continue to be annoying as fuck.
One thing I loved about TF Prime was that it canonically turned Unicron into Earth. And humans came from the earth. Which relates humans beings and cybertronians so hard. Cousins Fr. We are the cybertronian equivalent of organics, and transformers the inorganic equivalent of humans. The individuality, the chaos, the culture, it clicks. There is so much material to really go into it.
But they never do. Don’t get me wrong, I love Transformers lord and just discovering more without humans being involved. We’re just annoying af at this point. But there is so much u tapped potential in transformers actually taking the chance to LEARN about us. But we’re just friends (pets) to these mfs.
That’s why I love TF Earthspark so far. Transformers ingrained into human culture because they’re not from Cybertron, and cybertronians having to adapt to human culture because they have no where else to go. Granted, it’s a kids show. There’s only so much they can do. But I’m excited for where it’ll lead. It really shows how much of threat and ally humans are, and how we are just as diverse as cybertronians.
I need to write another fic about cybertronians meeting humans their size from our world tho. Need to continue my old piece. Would give me so much life. Y’all help motivate me, college draining my ass.

Humans are weird: Military Industrial Complex
( Please come see me on my new patreon and support me for early access to stories and personal story requests :D https://www.patreon.com/NiqhtLord Every bit helps)
Summary report of Terran Republic
Homeworld: Terra. Alias: Earth
Territory: 23 Planets 16 Star Systems 54 Orbital Stations 267 Asteroid Mining Operations
Population: 20.9 Billion
Military Threat Level: Red
Technological Level: Yellow
Personal Log from observer Nul Yand
“On the surface the Terran Republic should not even exist.
Their technological level is far below their neighbors such as the Olon Alliance or the Fenrar Empire.
They barely have the means to travel between their worlds and even then it requires months when the previously mentioned governing bodies can do it in days.
The one quality these humans have that has kept them alive for so long is the scope of their military; or more accurately their military industrial complex.
One could be forgiven for equating the two to be one in the same, but the distinction is made quite obvious when dealing with humans.
Their military operates under three branches known as the Fleet, the Army, and the Home Guard.
The fleet maintains the various orbital and suborbital craft almost completely. This ranges from the kilometer long Kepper Warships to atmospheric attack craft and is the primary partner for the second branch as a means to travel between worlds.
The army is made up of ground forces ranging from standard infantry to heavy mobile assault tanks. During times of war they are the spear tip and conduct numerous covert operations against human aggressors. When these operations are not enough the ground forces are then deployed which conduct full scale planetary invasions or man the numerous defensive forts dotted throughout their territory.
The final branch is the least militaristic of the three but serves a crucial role nonetheless. Home Guard serves as the eyes and ears within the human domain as a sudo military surveillance force. They enforce the laws while also rooting out enemies to said laws such as common gang members to spy’s and collaborators.
All three of these organizations are supplied through what is known as the human Military Industrial Complex.
The MIC is not a single entity but a collection of private corporations, weapon manufacturers, scientific committees, political lobbyists, and countless other unnamed groups who have saw fit not to make themselves known.
They provide the human military with a near endless supply of weaponry, ammunition, vehicles, ships, and more ensuring that at no time are their forces underequipped.
Research divisions conduct numerous lines of inquiry which include biological and advanced robotics. This has resulted in the military having a wide variety of advanced war machines such as the attack bot 5000, and the UAV dubbed “Seekers” which are capable of tracking down individual targets across an entire planet.
The biological division has made several advances in medical technology which have equally contributed with the production of Healing Pods which can induce accelerated healing process for even the most injured soldier. On the more questionable front they have also created several strains of lethal viruses to be used against enemy combatants. Rumor is that the Red Vein Plague was one such concoction when the war against the Tumari began taking a turn for the worse against humanity.
With this vast network of resources, the Terran military has been able to adapt to nearly any situation it has faced allowing it to survive even against impossible odds.
When the vast fleet of organic Milnani ships invaded human borders it was expect the human fleets would be wiped out within the first week. The first few engagements resulted in losses, but by the third engagement the humans had deployed new boring missiles that chewed through the thick hide of Milnani ships and dispersed a lethal toxic into the ships bloodstream. Within minutes the ships were violently convulsing as entire portions were torn open from muscle spasms, exposing the passengers to the cold void of space.
When the Tucmal used their advanced weaponry advantage to conquer an outlying colony, the human military dispatched a covert strike team to capture one of the weapon platforms and return it to a research lab on Omega VI. A month later effective shields had been deployed to counteract Tucmal weaponry rendering it useless. A week later the first phase plasma canons were being deployed that could burn through Tucmal armor protecting weapon platforms
When a War Sphere was deployed to obliterate the human homeworld a relay station was deployed to follow it just outside of weapons range. A cryptology team intercepted all incoming transmissions and was able to decipher the communications from the war sphere back to whoever was controlling it thanks to a recently acquired quantum gen III computer and over two dozen alien speakers who had been “invited” to a private facility. The team was able to interject into the transmissions and send a new command to turn around, return to its point of origin, and destroy the planet it came from. They then ordered it to turn off its transmission center so the human command could not be countermanded. In short order the war sphere followed its new directive and returned to its point of origin somewhere in the Ocares Sector.
This shadowy collective has been a backbone of human survival and though many have sought to remove this bountiful source of progress none have been able to completely destroy the MIC. Research groups have been tracked down and their teams wiped out to the man only for another group to take up the notes half a sector away. Factories and facilities obliterated in orbital bombardments were relocated to space stations orbiting no stars in the space between systems off all charts and maps.
It was deemed that only an overwhelming force of unprecedented vastness striking all at once would be sufficient to deal a crippling blow to the MIC. This in of itself however has proved a problem as to gather such a force would almost immediately be noticed and countered before it could even be put into motion.
My recommendation would be to isolate humanity and avoid combat as much as possible.
If conflict is inevitable then it must be prevalent that all significant technology not fall into their hands lest it be deconstructed and used against us.
Only then do we have a slight chance of victory."

Elon Musk has pledged that the work of his so-called Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, would be “maximally transparent.” DOGE’s website is proof of that, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, and now White House adviser, has repeatedly said. There, the group maintains a list of slashed grants and budgets, a running tally of its work.
But in recent weeks, The New York Times reported that DOGE has not only posted major mistakes to the website—crediting DOGE, for example, with saving $8 billion when the contract canceled was for $8 million and had already paid out $2.5 million—but also worked to obfuscate those mistakes after the fact, deleting identifying details about DOGE’s cuts from the website, and later even from its code, that made them easy for the public to verify and track.
For road-safety researchers who have been following Musk for years, the modus operandi feels familiar. DOGE “put out some numbers, they didn’t smell good, they switched things around,” alleges Noah Goodall, an independent transportation researcher. “That screamed Tesla. You get the feeling they’re not really interested in the truth.”
For nearly a decade, Goodall and others have been tracking Tesla’s public releases on its Autopilot and Full Self-Driving features, advanced driver-assistance systems designed to make driving less stressful and more safe. Over the years, researchers claim, Tesla has released safety statistics without proper context; promoted numbers that are impossible for outside experts to verify; touted favorable safety statistics that were later proved misleading; and even changed already-released safety statistics retroactively. The numbers have been so inconsistent that Tesla Full Self-Driving fans have taken to crowdsourcing performance data themselves.
Instead of public data releases, “what we have is these little snippets that, when researchers look into them in context, seem really suspicious,” alleges Bryant Walker Smith, a law professor and engineer who studies autonomous vehicles at the University of South Carolina.
Government-Aided Whoopsie
Tesla’s first and most public number mix-up came in 2018, when it released its first Autopilot safety figures after the first known death of a driver using Autopilot. Immediately, researchers noted that while the numbers seemed to show that drivers using Autopilot were much less likely to crash than other Americans on the road, the figures lacked critical context.
At the time, Autopilot combined adaptive cruise control, which maintains a set distance between the Tesla and the vehicle in front of it, and steering assistance, which keeps the car centered between lane markings. But the comparison didn’t control for type of car (luxury vehicles, the only kind Tesla made at the time, are less likely to crash than others), the person driving the car (Tesla owners were more likely to be affluent and older, and thus less likely to crash), or the types of roads where Teslas were driving (Autopilot operated only on divided highways, but crashes are more likely to occur on rural roads, and especially connector and local ones).
The confusion didn’t stop there. In response to the fatal Autopilot crash, Tesla did hand over some safety numbers to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the nation’s road safety regulator. Using those figures, the NHTSA published a report indicating that Autopilot led to a 40 percent reduction in crashes. Tesla promoted the favorable statistic, even citing it when, in 2018, another person died while using Autopilot.
But by spring of 2018, the NHTSA had copped to the number being off. The agency did not wholly evaluate the effectiveness of the technology in comparison to Teslas not using the feature—using, for example, air bag deployment as an inexact proxy for crash rates. (The airbags did not deploy in the 2018 Autopilot death.)
Because Tesla does not release Autopilot or Full Self-Driving safety data to independent, third-party researchers, it’s difficult to tell exactly how safe the features are. (Independent crash tests by the NHTSA and other auto regulators have found that Tesla cars are very safe, but these don’t evaluate driver assistance tech.) Researchers contrast this approach with the self-driving vehicle developer Waymo, which often publishes peer-reviewed papers on its technology’s performance.
Still, the unknown safety numbers did not prevent Musk from criticizing anyone who questioned Autopilot’s safety record. “It's really incredibly irresponsible of any journalists with integrity to write an article that would lead people to believe that autonomy is less safe,” he said in 2018, around the time the NHTSA figure publicly fell apart. “Because people might actually turn it off, and then die.”
Number Questions
More recently, Tesla has continued to shift its Autopilot safety figures, leading to further questions about its methods. Without explanation, the automaker stopped putting out quarterly Autopilot safety reports in the fall of 2022. Then, in January 2023, it revised all of its safety numbers.
Tesla said it had belatedly discovered that it had erroneously included in its crash numbers events where no airbags nor active restraints were deployed and that it had found that some events were counted more than once. Now, instead of dividing its crash rates into three categories, "Autopilot engaged,” “without Autopilot but with our active safety features,” and “without Autopilot and without our active safety features,” it would report just two: with and without Autopilot. It applied those new categories, retroactively, to its old safety numbers and said it would use them going forward.
That discrepancy allowed Goodall, the researcher, to peer more closely into the specifics of Tesla’s crash reporting. He noticed something in the data. He expected the “without Autopilot” number to just be an average of the two old “without Auptilot” categories. It wasn’t. Instead, the new figure looked much more like the old “without Autopilot and without our active safety features” number. That’s weird, he thought. It’s not easy—or, according to studies that also include other car makes, common—for drivers to turn off all their active safety features, which include lane departure and forward collision warnings and automatic emergency braking.
Goodall calculated that even if Tesla drivers were going through the burdensome and complicated steps of turning off their EV’s safety features, they’d need to drive way more miles than other Tesla drivers to create a sensible baseline. The upshot: Goodall wonders if Tesla is allegedly making its non-Autopilot crash rate look higher than it is—and so the Autopilot crash rate allegedly looks much better by comparison.
The discrepancy is still puzzling to the researcher, who published a peer-reviewed note on the topic last summer. Tesla “put out this data that looks questionable on first glance—and then you look at it, and it is questionable,” he claims. “Instead of taking it down and acknowledging it, they change the numbers to something that is even weirder and flawed in a more complicated way. I feel like I’m doing their homework at this point.” The researcher calls for more transparency. So far, Tesla has not put out more specific safety figures.
Tesla, which disbanded its public relations team in 2021, did not reply to WIRED’s questions about the study or its other public safety data.
Direct Reports
Tesla is not a total outlier in the auto industry when it comes to clamming up about the performance of its advanced technology. Automakers are not required to make public many of their safety numbers. But where tech developers are required to submit public accounting on their crashes, Tesla is still less transparent than most. One prominent national data submission requirement, first instituted by the NHTSA in 2021, requires makers of both advanced driver assistance and automated driving tech to submit public data about its crashes. Tesla redacts nearly every detail about its Autopilot-related crashes in its public submissions.
“The specifics of all 2,819 crash reports have been redacted from publicly available data at Tesla's request,” says Philip Koopman, an engineering professor at Carnegie Mellon University whose research includes self-driving-car safety. “No other company is so blatantly opaque about their crash data.”
The federal government likely has access to details on these crashes, but the public doesn’t. But even that is at risk. Late last year, Reuters reported that the crash-reporting requirement appeared to be a focus of the Trump transition team.
In many ways, Tesla—and perhaps DOGE—is distinctive. “Tesla also uniquely engages with the public and is such a cause célèbre that they don’t have to do their own marketing. I think that also entails some special responsibility. Lots of claims are made on behalf of Tesla,” says Walker Smith, the law professor. “I think it engages selectively and opportunistically and does not correct sufficiently.”
Proponents of DOGE, like those of Tesla, engage enthusiastically on Musk’s platform, X, applauded by Musk himself. The two entities have at least one other thing in common: ProPublica recently reported that there is a new employee at the US Department of Transportation—a former Tesla senior counsel.

The thing about Jurassic Park vs Jurassic World is that Jurassic Park set itself in the real world. It stuck to tech and scientific developments that were conceivably possible in the 1990s. Maybe a bit advanced for what was actually possible but not outside the realm of possibility if it received enough funding from an elusive billionaire.
Jurassic World does not do that. It shows us this elaborate design for the park with cool little orb vehicles and whatever else and then explains some batshit over the top difficult to believe nonsense about their genetically engineered super dinosaur. It focuses so much on the spectacle. Doing things like feeding sharks to bigger prehistoric sharks and other stupid shit that it has no grounding in the world we live in.
One of the most charming parts of Jurassic Park is seeing the dinosaur hatching from it's egg and it is a spectacle and great exposition at the same time. That's how all the spectacle works in Jurassic Park. There is a story telling point to it while still being spectacle. Feeding the cow to velociraptors is foreshadowing. Feeding the shark to a bigger shark is nothing. It means nothing. It looks cool in the trailer.
No one considers the logistics of Jurasssic World while Jurassic Park is entirely logistics. We're constantly reminded throughout the film that a storm is coming and boats are leaving. We're reminded that those cars are on a tracks and don't go anywhere without power. Major plot points are centered around getting the power back on and how the computerized systems work. Problems are caused by not accounting for logistics. We talk about dinosaur poop as a useful diagnostic tool for veterinary practice.
In Jurassic World the problems are because they like bioengineered too close to the sun or whatever. In Jurassic Park the problems are caused by multiple failure points. They're a bunch of small mundane oversights that cascade when one guy tries to make a buck by exploiting them. It's real world failings that bring the place crashing down. In Jurassic World it's because the dinosaurs got too cool.

Should all cars have automatic transmissions?
The question of whether all cars should have automatic transmissions depends on priorities: driving experience, accessibility, efficiency, and cost. There's no universal "yes" or "no"—here’s a balanced analysis:
🚗 Arguments FOR Automatic Transmissions Dominance
Ease of Use & Accessibility • Ideal for stop-and-go traffic, new drivers, or those with physical limitations. • Reduces driver fatigue in congested areas (e.g., urban commuting).
Market Preference • 96% of new cars sold in the U.S. are automatic (2023 data). • Manuals are nearly extinct outside sports/enthusiast models.
Performance & Efficiency • Modern automatics (8–10 speeds, DCTs) often outperform manuals in acceleration and fuel economy. • Electric cars lack traditional transmissions entirely.
Safety • Frees drivers to focus on road hazards (no clutch/shifting distractions).
🕹️ Arguments FOR Preserving Manual Options
Driver Engagement • Preferred by enthusiasts for control (e.g., heel-toe downshifting, track driving). • Studies show manuals increase attentiveness in experienced drivers.
Cost & Simplicity • $1,000–$3,000 cheaper to buy/maintain (no complex hydraulic systems). • Easier DIY repairs (clutch vs. rebuilding a torque converter).
Anti-Theft Deterrent • Only ~18% of U.S. drivers can operate manuals, reducing theft risk.
Niche Demand • Sports cars (e.g., Porsche 911, Subaru WRX) still offer manuals as a selling point.
⚖️ Key Trade-Offs
Factor Automatic Advantage Manual Advantage Fuel Efficiency Better in most modern cars Slightly better in older/smaller cars Longevity Higher repair costs (but longer lifespan today) Cheaper clutch replacements Learning Curve Easier for most drivers Requires skill/mastery Resale Value Higher demand generally Higher in enthusiast markets (e.g., sports cars)
🌐 Global Perspective
Europe/Asia: Manuals remain common (50–80% of cars in some countries) due to cost and tradition.
U.S./Canada: Automatics dominate; manuals are now a niche option (<1% of new vehicles).
EV Impact: Electric vehicles make this debate obsolete—single-speed transmissions require no shifting.
🎯 The Verdict
No, not all cars should be automatic—but manual transmission availability should be niche:
For mass-market vehicles: Automatics make sense for safety, accessibility, and efficiency.
For enthusiasts/sports cars: Manuals deserve preservation as a choice (like vinyl records or film cameras).
Future Outlook: By 2030–2035, manuals will likely vanish outside specialty models, while EVs and advanced automatics become universal.
🔧 Practical Advice for Buyers
Choose automatic if you prioritize ease, traffic comfort, or resale value.
Choose manual if you value driving involvement, lower upfront cost, or simplicity.
Test both before deciding—especially in sports cars where manuals enhance the experience.
What we lose in shifting gears, we gain in democratizing driving for millions. The "right" answer depends on who is driving—and why. 🛣️💡

Hiii everyone, just now an idea for a Hermitcraft + Friends train based AU popped into my mind, I wrote down my first thoughts
now I'd like to know if anyone would be interested or not (I'm currently obsessing a bit over trains :'3)
have fun reading
Mumbo
train broken from redstone explosion
lives "temporarily" in one of his passenger wagon that survived
Grian
plagues everyone by being a blind passenger, clawing himself to the roof
never had an own train
"pesky civilian"
kinda lives with mumbo (guy doesn't care too much about the "annoying" nature of Grian, he got other problems)
Scar
Zoo train
often visited by Grian
jokes about Grian living in his train because of his avian features
Bdubs
Doesn't really have an actual train but rather a horse carriage
get yelled at a lot by Joel because of the horses
almost all other hermits find them the cutest
4 person max if you prefer comfort
"smelly" - Joel
Docm77
kinda DB (is the most punctual person, but can never arrive anywhere on time)
somehow the most advanced train but there always something breaking (only when ppl look, when he's alone everything works of course)
gets asked to build a tunnel system a lot - he always refuses
gets asked if his tunnel can be used for the train tracks - he refuses
gets asked if he can help with the tra-
lives very far away from everyone
amphibia train because the tracks to his place aren't in the best shape
has a rail leading to nowhere !?
Postal service (Pearl + Etho)
The post system
Tango helped them out a lot
Etho does the more technical stuff
Pearl does the delivery and take in of the packages
Etho is never really seen around (he works on a secret project ?)
Pearl doesn't own her own transportation vehicle, but loves to use the postal van for her own deeds (nobody minds, take it as a work benefit)
Z. I. T. S. train company (Zedaph, Impulse, Tango, Skizz, Joel, Jimmy, Cub, Cleo)
they got a thing going on
Tango and Impulse want to create the most technical advanced train the world has ever seen
Joel is a train conductor in their main line passenger Train
Jimmy is the engine driver tho he finds his job boring
Lizzie tho not officially hired loves to drive the train (she kicks Jimmy out which he happily obiges) while Joel is working (he sneaks to her into the driver's cabin on his "brakes")
Jimmy is the only one, except for Joel, who knows about Lizzie driving the train (or maybe not)
Jimmy and Joel tolerate somewhat of Grian visiting them at work, Joel says "it's less boring with this idiot here" Jimmy thinks alike (maybe not the idiot part, sometimes he thinks he's more of an idiot, at least his clumsiness makes him feel that way)
Grian definitely didn't blackmail Joel and Jim (no Tim) because he saw Lizzie in the driver's seat (but nobody would probably believe him anyway if he one day decides to tell on Lizzie, his reputation of being an annoying prankster has exceeded him by far)
Joel always yells at bdubs because he's scared of getting the train delayed and he hates horses
Zedaph works as an engine driver too (Lizzie always needs to be careful not to accidentally walk in on him, because he sometimes replaces Jimmy last minute)
Gem, tho not alway very enthusiastically, helps out when someone falls ill (the pay isn't shabby so "why not" she thinks)
Gem owns a small boat on which she sometimes sleeps, she can't live on it completely because it would be to isolating
Gem loves to poke fun of Joel at work because she knows he's been scolded for ruckus behaviour before and now he needs to swallow his pride to the amusement of Gem (Lizzie, tho not in front of others at work, loves to join in on these shenanigans)
Cub is responsible for the train schedule and signals
False
she has the most beautiful steam train on the whole server
for the nostalgic feels she offers tours of the server
false has a wagon refurnished to be her now called home
some other hermits have wagons they live in and false does transport them to other places from time to time
Stress and Iskall
they both own together 3 refurnished wagons
Stress is a true cat lady (we don't know how many cats live with her, the number seems rising every minute)
Iskall isn't very amused by all the fluffy creatures, he implemented the rule that no cat shall enter the shared wagon
Iskalls wagon is a chaos of unfinished projects
Stesses quarters are something every proud mother of 4 legged furr balls could only dream off (Lizzie would definitely want to move in if she ever visited, surely)
False does transport their home to other places when they want a change of scenery (Iskalls excuse for this is always "A new start brings new creative thoughts and a tone of energy" Stress already knows by now that this enthusiasm isn't very long lasting)
i probably rather draw than write if I'll continue with this

What is love? (nines X gn Reader)
BABY DON'T HURT ME NO MORE
Hum hum sorry guys, btw happy holidays even if I'm reaaaally late ! It was sooo nice! There was even snow where I live!
------
You and nines were friends since last month, he came as gavin's partner two months before that, being gavin's best friend, you helped both of them to get along, you took a liking to the android, wondering why he wasn't deviant when every other android did. Connor told you it's because his software is far more advanced than the others androids, for exemple, Amanda wasn't a part of his system unlike connor had, when connor got him out of cyberlife, she instantly got erased by the rk900 software, just like a virus.
It was late in the dpd, everyone was gone, except you, nines, Gavin, hank and connor, you were all teamed on the same case and it was getting frustrating at this point.
"ugh we are not making any progress! At this rate my head will blow up.." Gavin said massaging his temples
"yeah I agree, I'm taking a break, hey, wanna go to the bar to forget this?" hank looked at you and gavin
"heck yes I am old man" Gavin got up and followed the lieutenant when you on the other hand declined politely, still wanting to re-read the reports of your case, connor chased after them, making sure they weren't intoxicated too much. Well that leaved only you and nines in front of the laptop, you readed again everything from the report out loud so nines could hear you.
"a couple was found nearby Detroit playground, an android and a human, both were shot in the chest where the heart is stated, either the killer is a surgeon due to this kind of presision, or it's an android who scanned them"
You massaged your temples just like Gavin did earlier, it was infuriating, no clues, no witnesses, you were to the point 0 on this case, nines got up without you noticing and got you a cup of your favorite drink. You muttered a "thank you" before drinking it and looking at the screen again.
"detective, if you aren't feeling well you can go home and rest, I can work alone on this, plus, a good rest is essential when you want to achieve something"
You nodded and started to get up and gather your belongings when he stopped you in your track.
"wait I actually have a question before you go detective"
"yes what is it?"
No one spoke for like 5 minutes, he seemed to think before he was gonna ask what he wanted.
"don't you find it weird?"
"what?"
"that the couple was a human and an android?"
You thought a little about it, yeah it was a bit odd because androids didn't got their rights long time ago and still are scared or angry over humans for their loss, same for the other side, but they are exceptions after all.
"well laws are a bit weird recently but nothing state they couldn't be together"
Nines led spinned red and yellow, you looked at him when it hit you.
"you think they got killed because they loved each other?"
"that's a possibility, since the revolution, many people are still hostile on both side"
"yeah.. We should check the road cameras, maybe we could track a vehicle going in this area at the presumed death hour "
"that was what I was thinking, good conclusion detective"
You smiled and rushed a bit to him, he was still on the chair from earlier, you then kissed him on the forehead.
"you are a genius nines! We finally have a lead! I'm gonna send a message to hank and Gavin, I'm gonna go home now, see ya!"
Some blue tinted the android cheeks, he looked at you leaving the pretinct and touched his forehead where you kissed him, a warning going in front of his eyes.
Software instability ⬆️
He texted connor with his system and waited for his response.
"connor what is love?"

Sorry if there is something that was repeated or you've answered already with these. Skimmed through the info on here for a bit for a set of questions. Mostly worldbuilding for these. What is the energy source of the station? I would assume running several sentient AI systems would be a major power draw. Is any of the AI in charge of making sure power doesn't run out or managing where it goes? Does something happen to an AI if they run low on power like Baymax (Big Hero 6)?
Is food and other resources in the station brought in from the outside or are there systems in place to be self sustained? Which AI would be in charge of supplies?
Is there a known order to when the AI were all built? Is each one a fully unique code or is there a base mastercode that they all start with that is then worked on to the final result?
Does the facility serve a specific meal at the same time each week like how navy ships will traditionally always serve something specific on the same day to help people keep track of what day it is?
How big is the facility? Is it to the scale where people would need an internal transport system or vehicles to get around to places or is everything within walking distance for people?
Does the human staff come up with any theories or myths about the station or the AIs after being there for a while, like any ghost stories or conspiracies they think of?
You knock it outta the park as always, Pups!
Not only are there satellites in the middle of nowhere where this station is, there is also wind turbines and a lot of them. They are scattered about miles away from the entrance in a sorta circle that powers the specialty generators, which are also charged with special meteorite bits they have found as an energy host. As for if the AI keep track of it, they do not. I suppose Percy would be more in tune with the energy placements but nah, it is mostly just the human workers that manage all that. The AI never really run out of power, as the metal they are made out of (as well as the facility) is a conductor for their specialized meteorite hearts. This is sorta spoilerish but you can have it as a little treat ehehe. The armor that everything is made out of is called Paragon's Alloy, and it is a weird white space mineral they found many years ago that they chose to replicate and build with it.
They have shipments of food brought in! Meat and vegetables and such are brought in through shipment trucks in through secret tunnel systems. I am sure there are some experiments going on out of boredom to help produce certain foods with special UV but even though they can make a robot out of a space rock, they can't make a stubborn plant properly grow from the depths of the station. And again, it is more of a human job to manage all the supplies and stuff! If I were to pick a bot though, it prolly be Nel.
Vin, Thaddeus and Nel were the first blueprints. Vin was first, then Thaddeus and then Nel. They were made by Dr. Edward Penrick (Thaddeus' assistant) using the blueprints and recipe of Paragon's Alloy from a former creation another built. Then, with Edward's grandson's help (Ulysses Penrick), they made Percy, Repo and Clip. You can tell the difference in creation by the black screens in the first generation and then the more unique faces and white screens in the second generation. Their base would be their core and metal they are all made of. They all have a special motherboard that has the information of their assigned duties, and from that and the advancements in their technology, their odd "hearts" and metal they are built out of, they sorta just develop their own personalities, with their jobs still being number one.
They try and keep it a variety with food so it doesn't effect morale. They don't want bored people or someone developing an eating disorder from the same junk every week. I am sure it cycles through the month but it is quite a big variety!
The facility is massssssssiveeee. There are elevator systems and stairwell but its mostly walking. Despite being a large facility, there is a lot of rooms and that keeps it more situated, also there are a lot of areas certain groups aren't allowed to be in which blocks out the space. Its more vertically massive than horizontally massive, but it is still very large in width. Waste division actually has more use with vehicle machinery as they have to drag large heavy things from one end to the other, and the spaces are large enough for this.
Oh I am absolutely sure the workers have some stories. If they are working night shifts and hear a weird scraping sound, or see a shadow in the halls, or a weird sound or voice.... Or that the Director is some kinda soul sucker, or that the AI Leads were human once and made of fleshy nasty meaty bits inside... Who knows what people come up with or believe, but there is prolly pleeeeenty of stories to go around.
Thank you for the questions!
