You’ve had just about enough of that axe-swinging asshole, built like an ox and thrice as stubborn.
You’re absolutely beside yourself asking why you’re sticking it out in his half-baked party. John, as he had practically breathed the name down your neck, couldn’t keep a decent healer and now you know all too well why. He was mean, smelly, loud, and worst of all- overly familiar despite your best efforts to stamp out any flame of acquaintanceship. You could write ballads dedicated to reasons you should leave this party, but truth be told? You were down on your luck. You wondered sometimes if you were cursed with misfortune, a hilariously horrid timeline of events leading you to this very position right now. So you’ve made a few mistakes, hasn’t everyone in the pursuit of dungeon crawling?
Even so, was the state of your freelance healing career really so bad that you had to saddle up with someone like John MacTavish? The man had been naught more than a trail thief brute-forcing his way into other parties’ treasure a few years ago, but because of a few lucky encounters in monster slaying, suddenly he was picking up jobs in adventurer hubs like it was something he was born to do. It pissed you off to no end and he knew it. Loved seeing your indignant scowl while you healed him up knowing better work was near impossible for you to come by.
“Och- that’s it, ‘m sore there.” He’d groaned, humid breath fanning your skin, god, why was he always so close? “Gonna show me that pretty glow, lamb?”
“No.” You bit, rubbing the salve a touch deeper than needed. Your lips twitched seeing his eyebrows draw tight. “It’s not so bad that you need healing, stop being a baby.”
The man snorted in response. “That’s why no other parties’ll take ye on, lamb.” His deep blue eyes searched your own, a wild smirk twisting across his mouth. “Terrible bedside manner.” You flushed slightly, shooting him a sharp glare that caused him to lean back on his makeshift fallen and rotted log seat with a pleased grin as he inspected his wound. Like the ever-expressive man he was, his face suddenly took on a shade of concern. “Ach-!”
“Huh?” Was all you could muster, confused as to what he could be so worried about.
“Think I got nicked by something venomous, lamb, need yer healing.” He seethed out. “Oh for- let me see.” You sighed, grabbing his uselessly huge hand. As expected, his palm was fine, albeit still a bit bloody as the salve worked to stop it.
Wrong move.
Upon inspecting his wound, the adventurer managed to shove his palm into your face with a vicious grin, huffing through his nose a bit as he smeared blood across your mouth. Sputtering only invited the acrid taste of bitter salve, sweat, and copper onto your tastebuds as he laughed and continued to wipe his hand across your face. “See?” He chuckled “M’still hurt.” His eyes seemed to glisten like the northern stormy coast seeing his own blood on your skin. “Suits you.”
You pushed his hand away, misinterpreting his words in a way that scratched at a sore spot of your own. “I didn’t kill them, John! Stop holding that over my head!” You snarled, causing his eyes to widen a fraction. You wiped his blood off your face with your arm, only to smear it around more and get it on the limb. Great. It was then you realized you had a runny nose as well, were you starting to cry? “I fucked up- but my god, they lived, okay?” And now you couldn’t get a gig better than this one because of that fact, a voice in the back of your head snarked. It’s true too, they made sure no party worth its salt would ever take you on. You still have no idea why John did either in all honesty, for all his faults and the high turnover rate, he had a seemingly bottomless fount of healers willing to take a shot at being the one to stick.
John cupped your cheeks. “None of tha’.” He spoke lowly. One of his calloused thumbs swiped at an emerging tear before it could fall and you had to watch, mouth slightly agape as he brought the pad of his thumb to his lips without much thought, tongue darting out to taste. You blinked as he clapped that hand down on your shoulder, leaning closer. “None of tha’…” he repeated, quieter this time. He looked so focused. “Dinnae give a shit about those no-names, lamb, neither should you.”
You swallowed audibly when met with his intensity, his voice a rolling growl. “Fuck- seeing ye all covered in my blood’s got me stiffer than a rock. Palm’s busted and you won’t heal me. Cannae do a thing about it, feel like ah’m gonna-“
“I can heal your hand.” You urged, the oppressive haze he left you with suddenly lifting.
He snorted in response. “Though so, lamb.” His palm connected with your hair, ruffling his blood into your locks before moving down to pat your cheek. “What a dutiful healer ye’ are… So good te’ me. Let me see tha’ gorgeous glow.”

Went on an adventure today. The heat and the UV index were awful (winter come back pls I miss you) so we stuck to shorter adventures but we still saw lots of excellent organisms.
Left to right:
Largest yellow spotted millpede I’ve ever encountered
Wild pings! Horned butterwort to be specific. They grow on rocky seeps with little to no soil.
Mushroom shaped liverwort
Beetle
Very interesting garter snake. I saw a similar one a few miles by crow from this one. Small regional variant?
Big feather, either a raven or turkey vulture (my hand is 7 inches long from tip of middle finger to wrist)
Candy lichen accentuating the lines on this log
Northwest Hesperian snail and Anthoceros fusiformis, a species of hornwort that is listed as VU
Oregon sedum

I. New Characters
5-Star Character "Tasteful Excellence" Escoffier (Cryo)
◇ Vision: Cryo
◇ Weapon: Polearm
The ex-head chef of Hotel Debord, renowned throughout Fontaine as the Patissiere Supreme and vanguard of precision gastronomy. Has incomparably strict standards when it comes to cooking.
◆ Escoffier is a support character who can consistently reduce Hydro and Cryo RES, provide healing, and deal Cryo DMG even while off-field.
Escoffier's Elemental Skill deals Cryo DMG to nearby opponents at intervals.
Her Elemental Burst regenerates HP for all party members and deals AoE Cryo DMG to nearby opponents.
Her Talent can also reduce opponents' Hydro and Cryo RES. The more characters of the corresponding Elemental Type in the party, the stronger the effect.
4-Star Character "In the Wake of Wandering Winds" Ifa (Anemo)
◇ Vision: Anemo
◇ Weapon: Catalyst
A vet from the Flower-Feather Clan who cherishes the life he leads alongside all manner of living things — people, animals, you name it.
◆ Ifa is a DPS character who excels at aerial combat and has healing capabilities.
When casting his Elemental Skill, he enters the Nightsoul's Blessing state, in which he can hover in mid-air or move rapidly. During this period, Ifa fires a Tonicshot that restores HP for the entire party. When Ifa is in the Nightsoul's Blessing state, he can also increase the Swirl and Electro-Charged DMG dealt by all party members.
His Elemental Burst deals AoE Anemo DMG and generates a wind current that pulls in opponents.
II. New Equipment
New Weapons (Examples based on Refinement Rank 1)
Symphonist of Scents (5-Star Polearm)
ATK is increased by 12%. When the equipping character is off-field, ATK is increased by an additional 12%. After healing, the equipping character and healed character(s) will obtain the "Sweet Echoes" effect, increasing their ATK by 32% for 3s. This effect can be triggered even if the equipping character is off-field.
◆ The event-exclusive 5-star weapon "Symphonist of Scents" (Polearm) can be obtained from the Event Wish. Please refer to the relevant official Event Notices for specific acquisition details.
Sequence of Solitude (4-Star Bow)
When an attack hits an opponent, deal AoE DMG equal to 40% of Max HP at the target location. This effect can be triggered once every 15s.

PSA: This petsite is too good and it needs more attention (4dopt)
Subtitle: no seriously the customization and how artist-friendly it is is KILLING ME
I'm sorry I have immense brainrot I NEED to talk about this okay SO let me tell you guys about this petsite I discovered a few weeks ago called 4dopt.com.
For the love of god please try this game out (check out the read more for... more info!)
TLDR; You can draw your own species and it'll be added to the game. Players can obtain that species and recolor them to make customs of them if you so choose. You can draw your own items too which can be used for species obtainment and raising stats.
In 4dopt, you can obtain adopts (or pets) through various means, such as using items, getting them from the shelter (which have been discarded by other players), or through the adventure/exploration system as a random encounter.
The fun part? The adopts and items are player-created. Like, I'm talking entire species and items that can increase an adopt's stats or generate a new adopt entirely from them. They're drawn, created, and controlled by the players. Another thing is that these adopts can be completely customizable. You can recolor them, give it different patterns (if available), change the lineart or shading, but only so long as the creator allows it. That's another thing - there is SO much control the creator has over their creations. It's all up to the creator to design different patterns and layers to the adopt, as well as give permissions as to what a player can and can't customize.
There's over 1,000 adopts to collect (and possibly customize) by the way, and more are coming! (It's been a BLAST watching the Discord and seeing all the future adopt WIPs people have been doing ;w;)
I can't describe in proper words how extensive the customization is. Getting the full scope of what I mean is a little difficult unless you've seen it for yourself, so here's a screenshot of me going through some recoloring!
Tumblr media
Aaand because I can't help myself, here's a mini showcase of the adopts I've recolored!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the species of each adopt, in order are: caprine, oldwood witch, and paint bird
In addition, creators can control the adopt's gender ratio, what items it comes from (if any), which exploration areas it comes from (if any) (as well as their rarities), and more. You want an adopt to be a seasonal-only thing? Go for it and put it in one of the rotating exploration areas or shops! You want to make a specific pattern of an adopt only available by using a certain item? Do it! I'd hunt one down for that!
A creator can make evolutions of their adopt, which can have different requirements, as well as a stats system which can be renamed to be more thematic to an adopt. (For example, I have an adopt whose Health stat is renamed to Size, due to it requiring to get a big size for it to evolve. These stats can also be used as requirements to put certain patterns or anatomical changes or etc to an adopt when customizing it.)
You may be thinking - oh, but being able to create an adopt/item is probably difficult, right? Nope! All you need to do is have your account be level 10, which, with some exploration, takes no time at all. I did it in under an hour! And then submit a small portfolio of your previous work to gain access to an artist panel, linked here (if you're logged in).
4dopt welcomes all artists, whether you're a beginner or you've been drawing for years, so there's no worries on if you're "good enough" or not. (YOU ALWAYS ARE!!!) If you have an idea, just make it, and chances are, us players will eat it up.
Anyways lightning round of more features:
A tagging system where, if you block a tag (like gore or body horror), all adopt species that fall under that tag will not be shown to you.
A weekly contest where you can show off your adopts as well as vote for others' adopts, and at the end of the week, the top votes get some nice rewards!

Succulent - Kinich
Spiderman AU, where Kinich is Spiderman and you are the Gwen Stacy.
Kinich unknowingly explores the same suspicious temple as you, saves a few Saurians, saves you a few times, confesses his love to you. The basic stuff.
Tumblr media
Notes: I have had major Kinich brainrot, especially with the sunflower edits of him on tiktok. So I took it upon myself to make a spiderman AU where he's spiderman! Yay! He's definitely OOC but I tried my hardest so please try to enjoy :3
(P.S. this stuff was written before he was released so this is not cannon!)
You were a simple researcher, wandering into the depths of Natlan. There was some elemental disturbance in some uncharted land underground, not wanting anyone else to get ahead of you, you embarked on your journey alone.
“Maybe I should've hired a mercenary.. Kinich would’ve been great.” you mutter. Kinich, a great mercenary, has such a cold demeanor yet he always stares at you and gives you such a warm gaze. You shake off the thoughts of your tiny crush as you slowly make your way through rough terrain. There were lava geysers all around and a hint of evil in the air, perhaps it was the abyss order.
You carried on, almost slipping into the multiple geysers all around. Thankfully you finally reached a safe point and decided to set up camp, just a simple tent and some traps in case enemies attack.
“Just a simple salad today, I have to preserve the meat for the hardest part of the adventure.” You say to no one aloud.
You decide to mark down some observations of the cave you're in. So far you haven't come face to face with any enemies which is quite odd for an area with a highly condensed elemental energy. Perhaps someone has come before you. You mark off any important landmarks, different rocks, ancient markings. Sighing, you place your notebook down and shake your sore hand.
“Time to sleep.” You stand up and stretch before heading into your tent for the night.
.
“Log number 18. I've still been searching for the cause of the elemental disturbance. Many enemies have appeared so I've done the reasonable thing and wiped them out. I do see a temple in the distance that radiates high elemental energy, so I will be checking that tomorrow but, right now it's time for me to rest.” Click. Kinich places down his recorder.
“I’m not even getting paid for this gig. Why am I even doing this?” He sighs, leaning up against a nearby wall.
See but Kinich knew exactly why, it was because of you. See Kinich had two jobs, one as a mercenary, one as a hero. He was known as Spiderman in Natlan, the way he would effortlessly swing with his grappling hook, and kill enemies of Teyvat as quickly as a black spider. He wore a mask in this identity, nobody knew who he was. Yet as he was weakened from an enemy far too strong and there he laid on the ground. You walked up, and instead of finding out who this mysterious Spiderman was, you kept his mask on, only pulling it high enough to wipe blood off his mouth. From then on he continued to have encounters with you, it always occurred whenever he got injured in battle, you were there by his side to patch up his wounds.
“I still don't even know your name.” Kinich reminisces about the moments spent together. “I'll get rid of this and protect you.” His promise fades away in the giant cave, nobody but himself to see it true. Kinich sets up a small sleeping bag, finally deciding to get some rest.
.
“New day, new adventure!” You say, trying to be optimistic. Although the truth is you could be farther from it. The elemental energy feels even more condensed than before, and there's this feeling of impending doom following suit. You quickly pack up your supplies not wanting to waste anymore time on this research trip.
After what feels like hours, but in reality was probably no longer than 30 minutes, you see a temple in the distance.
“This…” You stare at it from afar, shocked to even say a single word. The elemental energy that is pouring out from there is outstanding, there is definitely something suspicious going on. This is the first time in this adventure where you had second doubts, you definitely should've hired a mercenary, maybe Kinich. It's far too late for that now you decide as you begrudgingly step towards.
.
“These puzzles are definitely different from the ones we see around Natlan, right Ajaw?” Kinich looks at the strange mechanism.
“You really do suck if you can't get us through here. Wanna impress your lover researcher right? Right? Also why are you wearing that stupid mask, nobody is around.” Ajaw teases and questions the poor Kinich as he starts to get pissed.
“One I don't have a lover, two, this is for Natlan’s sake, something you must not understand, and three, I’ve gotten used to wearing it.” Kinich shoos away the now red Ajaw. “Finally figured out how it works though.” As he says that a door that was previously locked opens up.
“I see you've come to stop our plans once again traveler- ergh?!” A flame welding abyss lector pauses mid speech.
“Traveler? Do you mean the blond haired saviour going around helping people?” Kinich asks, recognizing the famous traveler.
“You're kinda totally ruining the plan I had dude.” The abyss lector says in defeat.
“What do you mean ruining the plan, huh!?” Ajaw yells, still upset about earlier.
“Well, the traveler and I were supposed to fight. After all, I totally ran away from our fight last time, heh. Just didn't wanna die you know?” The abyss lector laughs off his misfortune. “Nevermind that now I have to kill you, after all I can't have you leaking our information out and about.”
“Let's win this Kinich!” Ajaw says, trying to pump up his dear servant.
“Whatever you say I guess.” Kinich responds.
.
“These puzzles.. They're complete, someone had to have been here before.” You conclude. When you arrived at the temple you saw numerous doors open. There were many unfamiliar marks covering the temple head to toe, you only recognize a few as abyss symbols. Through careful observation you notice an odd placing brick on the wall, not wanting to inspect it with your own hands, you opt for a nearby stick. You take a deep breath in and push against the suspicious brick, allowing a secret passage downwards to open.
“Thank god that wasn't a trap.” You breathe a sigh of relief.
After finishing writing down all the information you need about this current room you decide to explore this secret passage, it's basically just a bunch of stairs leading downwards.
.
“Shit you're one slippery guy, and what the hell is with that skill you're seriously like a spider.” The flame bearing abyss lector complains, definitely aggravated from the injuries inflicted on him.
“Yeah I tend to go by Spiderman, don't let the name wear out.” Kinich says, quickly using his skill to cover his eyes with his grapple, reducing his eyesight.
While covering the abyss lector’s eyes he uses a secondary grappling hook to start to spin himself, effectively wrapping the enemy up.
“You damned brat! You'll pay for this!” The abyss lector yells while using his pyro skills, effectively destroying the web like wire that blocked his vision and disabled his movement.
“Too bad you weren't paying attention.” Kinich mutters, slicing his claymore against the back of the abyss lector, leading to its defeat.
“Ajaw, find anything of interest on his body, I'm going to check this machinery out.” Kinich orders Ajaw around, to which Ajaw complains but compiles.
In this room there's multiple computers showing different results, many different files of interest, and… a tube? Leading to where. Kinich is left to wonder. He takes a closer look at the tube to see a purple substance flow through it.
“Ajaw, find out where this tube leads, we'll switch jobs.” Kinich says, shoving Ajaw away from the flame abyss lector's body.
“Meh meh meh meh. Mr. Bossy-pants.” Ajaw mocks but goes right to finding where the location of the purple substance is coming from.
.
“I should've turned around.” You can't help but complain. You had been walking down these stairs for god knows how long, with barely any light, and no clue if there's enemies at the bottom.
“I'm so dead aren't I.” You cry. In the middle of you trying to accept your fate you see a brighter light. Hopeful that it's the bottom you pick up your pace only to be met face to face with, prison cells?
There were glass cells, no, chambers filled with Saurians, a purple substance being sucked out and pushed into a hole in the middle of the room. You take careful steps forward, heartbroken, shocked at the sight you're seeing. The dragon's that inhabit the lands of Natlan, being sucked dry of their elemental energy. This has to be the work of the abyss order, you conclude. You look at the seemingly bottomless pit in the middle of the room.
“This is… despicable. How could they do this to innocent creatures?” You mutter, looking down into the pit with sadness.
“Oh? What's my number one fan doing here?” A familiar voice echoes in front of you.
“Ah, Spiderman-!?” You look up only to be met face to face with an upside down Spiderman.
“I'm not surprised you're here, but why are you here alone? You don't have a vision so this place is draining you of your energy.” A slight bit of concern covers Spiderman's voice.
“I had to explore. This cave was uncharted and I wanted to resolve this issue as soon as possible.” You answer his question, “Not to mention you're hurt yourself. When did this happen?” He just scratches the back of his head.
“Just had a fight just now I'm alright though. Had to win to see you once again.” Spiderman admits. “It looks like I'll have to have another fight though. Please stay back alright.” He says while pulling down his mask, just enough to show his mouth. He moves forwards enough to give you a light kiss against your lips. He gives you a smile before putting his mask back on and jumping right into the fight.
You stand there for a few seconds processing what just happened. Not only did the Spiderman just say he wanted to see you again, but he also just kissed you? You hear the noise of abyss mages getting hurt and remember what Spiderman told you to do, so you try to walk over to the other side, away from the fighting.
You watch in awe as the amazing Spiderman uses his webs to his advantage, dodging the attacks from abyss mages and using them to weaken the shields so he can do heavy damage with his claymore. You’re so enamored by his performance you don’t realize how close to the edge of the pit you get too.
“Finally done with these abyss mages.” Kinich mutters, turning to you only to see you dangerously close to the edge, with abyss mages behind you. “Watch out-!” Kinich tries to call out to you but it’s too late, the abyss mages push you into the pit.
Kinich is quick to react, quickly using his grappling hook to connect and grab you, which ends successfully. Only problem now? He had two electro abyss mages in front of him, his grappling hook unusable at the moment. The panic that Spiderman was going to lose his battle, and someone he holds close to his heart.
No, he thinks. He can’t let it happen again, he can’t. The few times Kinich opened his heart it was left broken, with the death of his father and now soon to be you. He can start to feel his arms weaken and-
“How did you beat me here!?” A scream comes from up top. Kinich’s eyes open in surprise, then his lips curve into a small smile.
“Ajaw, could you please get these mages out of their shields, I need to get our friend out of this pit.” He orders, no, commands Ajaw, to which he slowly complies. Ajaw begins to attack the abyss mages, holding his own as Kinich quickly pulls you up to the top, hoping you were still alive in his grappling hook.
“It’s funny really, I don’t understand why a simple researcher like you caught my eye.” Kinich mumbles to himself seeing your body appear from the purple smoke filled pit. Admittedly Kinich was scared out of his mind when you weren’t moving, but a simple pulse check let him know that you weren’t dead, but unconscious. A huge wave of relief flooded Kinich knowing you were safe. That’s when he swiftly grabbed his claymore which he had disregarded and landed the final attack on the abyss mages.
“We’ll report this to the warriors in Natlan. They’ll free the surviving Saurians.” Ajaw suggests which Kinich agrees.
Kinich reaches up and removes his mask, his face covered with scratches, blood, and sweat. Yet even so, he smiles warmly knowing that you were safe.
.
Your head is spinning. You can’t see anything. You’re asleep. You have to just wake up. Wake up.
“Ugrh.” You groan, slowly opening your eyes to a recovery room. “Where am I?” You manage to speak out loud.
“You’re awake! I’m glad. See Kinich here found you in a temple and apparently you were all passed out, if he were later you might’ve died.” The doctor explains to you. Kinich? He found you but the only one who was at the temple with you was- oh.
You quickly sit up surprising Kinich and the doctor who was at your side. You smile, “Thank you for the update doctor, but I need to speak with Kinich alone, if that’s alright.” You say weakly, nonetheless the doctor understands and leaves the two of you to your business.
“So, you’re Spiderman.” You state, waiting for him to deny, after all it can’t be true the the mercenary Kinich can also be the amazing Spider-
“Yeah.” He answers. Your thoughts pause, you freeze, and you just stare at him in shock.
“Why?” You ask, and he just tilts his head in confusion. “Why would you tell me your secret? I'm just a regular researcher, I don’t even have a vision.” You question, confused on why he would reveal his identity.
“It’s simple. Out of every fan I meet, you’re the only face I can remember, if I see you in a crowd I always tend to go into that direction. I may not even know your name but you show me with such care despite not knowing who I am.” Kinich confesses, a slight blush covering his cheeks.
“It’s right to be nice to everyone, even unknown identities.” You say.
“I guess you’re right, so will you humour me for a while and go on a date with me?” He asks you, looking at you with a warm gaze and a loving smile.

May I please request a yandere who's who, denjiro, katakuri, king, and shanks done separately, where the readers little sister/brother keeps trying to rescue them
------
Of course! I love the idea. To make it a bit easier and less confusing for myself, I decided to make the sibling a little brother.
-------
Charlotte Katakuri
Tumblr media
The grandeur of Whole Cake Chateau was suffocating in its elegance. Sugary white pillars, caramel-tiled floors and windows glazed with candy glass wrapped you in a gilded prison. You had room to move, to read, even to wander the village under watch. But there were no ships. No maps. No Log Poses. No open sea. No freedom.
And he was always there.
Charlotte Katakuri.
The man who had stolen your freedom. Not with chains, but with foresight and obsession. You had crossed paths with him in your explorations of the New World. As an adventurer, you were no pirate, but your strength rivaled some of the fiercest pirates currently alive. But not as strong as someone like him.
Katakuri noticed. More than noticed. He admired. He saw something in you beyond strength. It twisted into something relentless inside him.
He did not lock you in a dungeon. He offered you sugar-infused teas, rare books and a private wing in the Chateau. You could stroll the halls. Dine under chandeliers made of spun sugar. But your steps were always watched. And in the very rare moments Katakuri was away attending to business, your watcher was Charlotte Perospero, his elder brother.
About every three weeks without fail, came your little brother.
You warned him. Begged him not to come after his third attempt. But he was tireless. Driven by the same blazing resolve that once defined your own path as an explorer. Each time he returned, his Observation Haki was sharper, his instincts keener, honed by every failed attempt. He grew faster, more evasive and more daring. He traveled by ship, foot, sea, and sheer force of will entirely on his own, slipping and fighting his way through the layered defenses of Totto Land. It was a long journey each time and still he never hesitated.
Every time, Katakuri stood in his way. Silent, stern and relentless. There was a rhythm to their encounters now. A dance between foresight and fury. Katakuri never struck to kill. He deflected with surgical precision, each blow aimed to subdue without lasting harm. The boy fought harder every time and Katakuri acknowledged it.
"He possesses an impressive resilience," Katakuri would murmur in a low voice, carefully lowering the unconscious adolescent to the polished floor as though he were his own kin. "That intensity… It echoes the same fire I first saw in you."
On several occasions, Katakuri remained by the boy's side well after the confrontation had ended, methodically brushing dust and blood from his forehead with a rare, almost incongruous tenderness. An expression of conflicted admiration that belied his otherwise unshakable composure.
He’d command his subordinates in a low voice. Always the same instruction, repeated like clockwork: "Take him far from Totto Land. Feed him well. Let him rest where it’s safe. Then let him go. If he returns again, it means he’s strong still."
It had become a routine now, embedded into the rhythm of Katakuri’s life like the cycles of the moon. The boy would come. He would fight. He would fall. And Katakuri would issue this order, never deviating, never hesitating. It was as much a ritual as it was a resolution. Not to destroy what he admired, but to let it return stronger, fiercer.
There was something in Katakuri’s expression in those moments. A mix of respect, melancholy and inevitability. As though he knew your brother’s growth would eventually make future battles harder.
But he never stopped him.
Because some part of Katakuri admired the boy’s tenacity. And the rest of him... he knew exactly where it came from.
It was not that Katakuri didn’t have options. You once accused him directly: "Why don’t you have Mont-d’Or trap him in a book? You’ve done worse to others."
Katakuri’s expression had shifted. Just barely. His voice had been quiet.
"Because if I did, you’d hate me more than you already do. And he would stay young, imprisoned in stasis, while you continued to age. That kind of cruelty would burn down everything I’ve built."
Then, softer, almost to himself: "Besides... I like the fire. It’s what drew me to you."
Once, after sending your brother away again, bloodied but unbroken, Katakuri lingered longer than usual. He remained seated by your chamber window. Silent and unmoving. The moonlight painted his sharp features in silver and his scarf, so rarely lowered, now rested loosely around his neck. His jagged mouth, the one he always hid from the outside world, was laid bare in the glow.
"I saw him reaching you," he said at last, voice low. "I saw him pulling you away from me. But only in one future. Just one. And I’ve erased it. I can’t risk losing you."
You turned from him, the fury rising behind your eyes restrained only by sheer will. Your voice, when it came, was cold and certain. "You know I’ll never marry you."
He didn’t flinch. Not even a twitch.
"You will," he said quietly. "Because I see the moment. I’ve seen it so many times. You’re wearing white. You smile when it happens. It’s real."
You clenched your fists until your nails bit into your palms. "A false hope."
Katakuri's gaze dropped, not in shame, but in a tired resignation that weighed more than his gigantic body ever had.
"If that’s the case..." he said slowly, the words almost catching in his throat, "then everything I’ve done, everything I’ve sacrificed to keep that hope intact, it means I was wrong. And if I’m wrong about that, then I may as well lose everything. Except you."
Denjiro
Tumblr media
The Flower Capital was a city of contrast. Bright lanterns and cherry blossoms painted its skyline while shadows and secrets ruled its alleys. And at the very heart of those contradictions stood Denjiro. Or rather, the man the world knew as Kyoshiro. The elegant, calculating yakuza boss of the capital.
But behind the calm exterior, behind the mask of composed cruelty, was a kind man obsessed.
You had arrived in Wano under the guise of an explorer. A foreigner with strength to rival a warlord, grace enough to stir admiration even in hardened samurai and a spirit that refused to yield to anyone.
And Denjiro had fallen for you.
Not gently. Not slowly. He was consumed. Caught in a quiet storm of admiration and desperation. When you refused his subtle advances, denied his gifts and tried again and again to leave the borders of Wano after some time, he responded not with violence, but with control.
He didn’t lock you in a dungeon or bind you with chains. No, Denjiro used the city itself. He arranged for oiran guards and trusted geisha loyal to the Kyoshiro Family to watch you from within. The Yakuza network shadowed your every step. You were free to walk the capital, to dress as you pleased, to pretend your cage was a garden.
But you couldn’t escape.
And every time you tried, he came.
But so did your brother.
A teen not yet a man, but with the fury and conviction of a hundred. He somehow scaled the mountains of Wano, slipped past Orochi’s men, defied the Kaido-backed authorities just to get to you. Each time he came, he fought Denjiro. And each time, Denjiro stopped him.
Their battles were furious but precise. Observation and Armament Haki clashed like steel on steel, ringing through the empty courtyards and echoing down the misted alleys of the Flower Capital. The boy’s strength was undeniable. And it grew with each encounter. Faster footwork, tighter focus, a maturity beginning to harden into something deadly.
"His Ryuo... Sharper than last time," Denjiro murmured once, brushing his bloody lip with the back of his hand after a brief clash. "And heavier. He's also learning levels of restraint. That makes him even more dangerous."
But Denjiro never struck to kill. Even when the boy came at him with a fire that could have scorched the sun, he deflected, parried and subdued. And when the boy inevitably fell- legs crumpling under the weight of exhaustion or a single, clean blow, Denjiro was there to catch him before his body hit the ground.
He would scoop the boy up in practiced silence, carrying him to the quiet corners of the city. An abandoned tea house tucked between merchant rows, a hidden room beneath a theater stage or a healer's parlor owned by someone in his debt. He never used the same place twice in a row, but each was secure, each protected by the Kyoshiro Family.
And always, Denjiro gave the same order:
"Take him somewhere safe. Watch over him. Let him rest. Do not interfere unless he wakes."
His subordinates obeyed not out of obligation, but out of reverent fear. They didn’t fully understand their boss’s fixation, but they understood the rules. No one touched the boy. No one mocked him. No one questioned why a yakuza boss would protect an enemy with the same care he might show a wounded comrade.
They understood that in Denjiro’s madness, there was a code. And in that code, the boy was sacred.
"That boy... he’s no fool," Denjiro said to you once, watching cherry petals fall from the rooftop of your borrowed estate. "Every time, he comes back stronger. If this continues, then one day, he may even defeat me."
You looked away, refusing to give him the satisfaction of your attention. Your silence was louder than any insult.
"Then you should be afraid," you said finally. "Because he won’t stop. No matter how many times you throw him aside. He'll keep coming back until I’m free."
"I know," Denjiro answered softly, his voice nearly lost in the hush of the wind. "That’s why I cherish every moment you stay. Even if you hate me for it."
There was a desperation behind his calm. A dread that clung to the edges of his perfect posture. Like tension coiled in a blade about to snap. Every smile he offered you was touched by subtle sorrow, every kind gesture a calculated effort to preserve something that was already slipping through his fingers. He knew he couldn’t control your heart, and yet, he couldn’t stop trying. Not when the alternative was unthinkable.
He didn’t want to force you to stay like this.
But he was prepared to, if it meant keeping you close for just a little longer.
And every time your brother fell at his feet, bloodied, determined, but never broken, Denjiro felt the prophecy writhe in his bones like an omen too long ignored. The prophecy Oden’s wife once spoke of. A storm would come to Wano. The blood of the past would return to reclaim the future.
And Denjiro felt it: that prophecy wasn’t some distant fate meant only for this land. It applied to him as well. To you. To this growing, impossible tension between devotion and destiny.
If he couldn’t win your love before that storm arrived, Denjiro knew what would happen. The boy would rise. Your will would turn to steel. And his heart would split down the center.
He would lose you.
And that, more than any blade, any curse, or any prophecy, terrified him most.
King the Wildfire
Tumblr media
There were no gilded palaces in King’s world. Only fire, steel and silence.
You never expected to be caught in the orbit of someone like King.
You were a free soul shaped by the sea. The world had no chain that could hold you, no cage you couldn’t shatter. But Wano... Wano was different. And King?
King was absolute.
From the moment you stepped too far into the closed country, he had marked you. His eyes had followed your strength, your face and your tenacity. He hadn’t needed Kaidou’s permission. He took you the same way he took command. Without question and without any further delay.
Your cell wasn’t iron. It was an empty wing in Onigashima carved high into the cliffs, wind screaming like ghosts outside the jagged windows. You were left with the sky and King’s silence. He didn’t speak often. When he did, it was either orders or unsettlingly direct statements.
"You stay because you want to breathe. And I allow that."
But each time you tried to escape… Each time you threw yourself into the fury of the island’s defenses… Someone else came for you.
Your little brother.
Young, furious and wild with determination. He somehow came through fire and sea, past Kaidou's men, past Onigashima’s monstrous security. And King...? King always met him.
The battles were not kind. King didn’t mock. He didn’t waste time. He struck with ruthless precision, wings lashing through the air, flames tearing stone. Your little brother never stood a chance.
And yet, King didn’t kill him.
Every time the boy fell, King stood over him in silence. Minutes would pass. Heavy and loaded with something unspoken. As if deciding. As if measuring not just the boy's strength, but the value of his persistence. Sometimes King knelt, gloved fingers brushing against the blood-matted hair, as though verifying the pulse of a memory he could not name. But he never delivered the final blow.
Then he would shift forms, claws tightening around the unconscious teen, becoming the great Pteranodon once more. His wings cut through the sky in eerie silence as he flew beyond Onigashima, past the borders of Wano’s civilization. He scoured the map in his mind, always searching for the same kind of place: inhospitable, forgotten and merciless.
One time it was a rugged isle scorched by volcanic vents. Another, a jungle ruin populated by beasts long thought extinct. And once, a crumbling battlefield still haunted by the remnants of long-dead warriors. He always chose the worst of them. Islands thick with predators, scarred by ancient wars or plagued with silence and suffering.
There, he left the boy. Alive, armed and alone.
Not out of mercy, but calculation. Because if the boy died, the problem solved itself. And if he lived...? If he survived…? Then his return would feed the very narrative King was crafting. That the brother’s suffering was a consequence of your refusal, not King’s cruelty.
"If he survives-" King once said without turning, "then he was meant to try again. If he dies, then he never mattered in the first place. That’s how this world works. Strength determines worth."
You screamed at him. You called him a monster, your voice raw with fury, your fists clenched until your nails bit into your skin. It didn’t matter. Nothing moved him.
King didn’t raise his voice. Didn’t touch you. Just stared from behind his mask as he looked back down at you.
Impassive. Unbothered. Unchanging.
"I don’t kill him," he said flatly, as if that alone absolved him of anything. "You should be thanking me. I could erase him. No one would question it. But I don’t. Because I want you to stay without hate in your heart. To love me... Eventually..."
His voice was calm, but the words carried the weight of iron. It wasn’t affection. It was a calculated patience. A deliberate erosion of your will. He didn’t just want your presence. He wanted your surrender.
You knew what he was doing. He wanted your brother gone. But not by his hand. That way, when the guilt festered and bloomed like rot inside you, he could be the one to offer comfort. He could point to your pain and say, "This is the result of your resistance. This is what you chose."
If your brother died out there, torn apart by beasts or driven mad by the isolation, King wouldn’t have to say a word. The blame would wrap around you like chains. And in your weakest moment, he’d be waiting. Arms outstretched and mask removed.
"He came for you again," King would say each time your little brother returned, only to be beaten back once more, bloodied and burned. "And you let him. What does that say about you? About your choices?"
You hated him. Hated how he twisted the truth and how he planted seeds of doubt that slowly bloomed into guilt. But you couldn’t deny it worked. The longer your brother suffered, the more you hesitated.
The more you began to question your own strength and your own convictions.
The more you started to think that maybe... Maybe if you stopped resisting, things would stop hurting.
You long since began waking at night to phantom cries, to dreams of your brother calling your name from some half-buried grave on a distant, cursed island. And every morning, King would be there. Silently watching you as if he knew.
The guilt chewed at you. The confusion crept in. You began to wonder. Was your defiance brave or selfish? Was your escape plan noble or a death sentence for him?
The more you started to hate yourself, the more you started to think that you should just give in. Try to see if you could develop at least something for King. Not love, maybe. But tolerance. Peace. If only to stop the endless cycle.
And King himself, ever stoic and unshakable, waited like a giant monument to inevitability. He didn’t pace. He didn’t beg. He didn’t threaten. He only endured.
"One day," he murmured, looking down at the map of the New World, tracing the boy’s last known drop site, "he won’t come back. And then you’ll realize I’m all that’s left. All that you need. All that’s ever stayed."
He didn’t need to chain you.
He just needed time and the slow crumbling of everything else you cared about.
"Red-Haired" Shanks
Tumblr media
It was never a prison. Not technically.
You had space to walk. You could drink, dance and argue with Lucky Roux over dinner. There were parties on every full moon, the music rolling like thunder across the decks of the Red Force. Shanks made sure you had everything you needed.
Except the sea.
Not in the way you wanted. Not the freedom you once lived for.
You were an explorer. The kind who didn’t just travel but searched. You would have a high bounty, easy, if the World Government had ever decided you were dangerous enough to tag.
But Shanks had tagged you in his own way.
He let you believe you were drifting. Free. When in truth, the anchor had long since dropped, buried deep beneath your daily rhythm and carefully maintained routine. It didn’t rattle or tug. It simply kept you from sailing too far, even when you thought you had the wind behind you.
Every time you asked to leave, to chart your own course again, his smile never faltered. That lopsided, effortlessly disarming grin. The one that could sway enemies or pacify kings. He wielded it with a casual grace that made your resistance feel absurd. Like a child asking for something they already had.
"Let’s not ruin the moment," he would say, voice dipped in honeyed patience. It was never angry. Never forceful. Just... Immovable.
You began to see the truth. It was never about force. It was about making you feel like staying was your own idea.
And then there was your little brother.
Young. Reckless. Brilliant in his own right. A blade sharpened by time, pain and loyalty to you. Every two months, like the rising tide, he came for you. Never wavering and never giving up. The crew had come to expect him, as one expects the turning of the tide or the coming of rain. It was ritual now. A stubborn echo.
And every time, Shanks met him.
He didn’t want to. He said so each time, with a sigh of resigned certainty. But the boy insisted. A duel, always. No exceptions. His stance burned with conviction, fists wrapped in Haki, eyes blazing with the kind of fire Shanks had once seen in another boy long ago.
The crew watched from a distance, their gazes steady but silent. Benn Beckman would shake his head and sigh through the smoke of a half-finished cigarette. Yasopp muttered about pride and youth and futility. But no one interfered.
If the boy wanted to reach you, he had to get past the Emperor.
And of course, he never did.
But something shifted every time. The air. The force behind the boy’s strikes. His ability to hold his ground just a moment longer. A split second more before his legs gave out. Shanks noticed. And while his face remained unreadable, somewhere behind those calm, calculating eyes, the acknowledgment simmered. Your little brother was learning. Evolving. And though it was still far away, a single truth had begun to form; dangerous and very promising.
Shanks never gloated. He never injured the boy beyond recovery. He fought like a man fulfilling an unwanted obligation. His Haki hummed with quiet power, not overwhelming but steady, guiding the rhythm of their clash. The blade still moved with purpose, cutting the air with a precision that spoke of skill, but without the weight of devastation. Each strike was deliberate. No wasted force, no unnecessary show of power. Just enough to win, to keep the boy at bay and to remind him of his place in the world.
When the duel ended, Shanks would crouch beside the fallen teen, checking his pulse. He always called for his crew to carry him gently below deck, to treat his wounds, feed him and let him rest.
"He’s got guts," Shanks would murmur, brushing the boy's sweat-slick hair aside. "But not yet the world to wield them. Maybe one day, though. If the world doesn’t break him first."
You fussed. You pleaded. You even cursed him. Your words were knives, thrown in desperation, in fury, in sorrow. You demanded to know what satisfaction he could possibly find in repeating the same fight, in watching your brother break and rebuild over and over again. You asked him; how many more times? How many more bruises? How many more unspoken promises that this would be the last?
And Shanks listened.
He didn’t argue. Didn’t lash out. He just watched you with eyes too still, too calm. The kind of quiet that had weight, that drew all the noise out of the air.
Then, for the first time, he made an offer.
"A trade."
You blinked. "What?"
His smile was soft. Not cruel. Just wistful. Like someone opening a door they’d always hoped you’d knock on. It wasn’t smug. It wasn’t manipulation. It was almost... Lonely.
"You want freedom. I want your time. Give me one week. Every two months. No running. No pretending you hate it. A week of peace. A week of dinners. Stories. A walk under the stars. A moment to just... Be with each other."
You stared. "And if I refuse?"
The smile dimmed. It didn’t vanish. But it hollowed out. Like something older had returned behind it.
"Then you stay. Just like now. And I’ll keep pretending this is enough for me."
You wanted to hate him. But he wasn’t cruel. He was honest. Brutally so. He didn’t offer salvation. Only structure. One that gave just enough slack to make you believe you weren’t still tied to him.
You said yes.
And true to his word, he let you go. Every time you returned, his arm was open in welcome, his crew treated you like you’d only stepped off for a breather. No pressure. No reminders. Just that same drink, that same sea air, that same quiet gratitude behind his eyes.
But if you skipped even once...
The tides would turn. The anchor would rise again. The Red Force would find you.
"I’ll let you fly," he told you once, his hand resting over yours like it was a promise. "But the wind? That’s me. And I don’t plan on changing course."
Who’s-Who
Tumblr media
There was a time when he wore the black of CP9 and whispered death into the ears of kings. Now, clad in crimson and surrounded by fire and ambition, Who’s-Who wore a different kind of mask. A toothy grin forged by betrayal, bitterness and unfiltered ego.
He wasn’t Kaidou. He wasn’t King. But he didn’t need to be. Because unlike them, he remembered what it meant to serve something greater. And how quickly the world could turn on you.
So when he saw you... Free, powerful and entirely unclaimed... He didn’t ask.
He took.
You were an explorer, not a pirate. But your strength was undeniable. That strength, your fire. It reminded him of a time when he too thought the world could be conquered through sheer talent alone. Before the chains. Before the cell. Before the Gum-Gum fruit was stolen under his watch.
Now you belonged to him.
Not in chains. Not in name. But in shadow.
He kept you in a controlled corner of Onigashima. Not locked away, but watched. You were free to walk, to pace and to protest. He liked the way you protested. It kept things... interesting.
And every time you tried to escape, your little brother followed like a prayer refused.
A tenacious adversary. Youthful, but already exhibiting a formidable acuity of perception and speech. His sharp, discerning gaze mirrored the intensity once seen in your own. And his Haki; raw yet unmistakably potent, resonated with an energy that vibrated on the same frequency as yours. It wasn’t just strength. It was promise, a signal of the relentless will that drove him forward with a conviction that could not be easily dismissed. The first time Who’s-Who met him, he laughed. Not out of mockery, but genuine amusement.
“Seriously? You crossed that ocean for her? Must be some sibling bond.”
But then the kid fought.
And lost…
That first clash, Who’s-Who didn’t even bother staying in his human form for long. With a casual stretch of limbs, he shifted. Muscle rippling, bones snapping into place right into his Zoan form. The towering sabertooth hybrid cast a monstrous shadow, his movements elegant and almost economical. His growl echoed across the high cliffs, a sound that felt ancient and final.
He relished the reactions his Zoan transformation often provoked. Reverent fear, stunned awe and instinctive hesitation. These responses created a strategic lull, a pause he could exploit to recalibrate his stance, refine his next strike, or simply observe the unfolding psychological shift. Yet, curiously, your little brother offered none of these luxuries. No hesitation. No fear. Only raw defiance. Unflinching, irrational and infuriatingly familiar. The same stubborn resilience he saw burning in your eyes, now mirrored in his. And for a fleeting moment, Who’s-Who felt the precariousness of control shift ever so slightly beneath him.
He didn’t even have to use his full strength. A flick of the tail, a lunge timed with eerie precision and it was over.
But it wasn’t mockery that followed. It was something colder. He approached the fallen teen with a predator’s patience, crouching down as though examining a newly-forged blade still too soft to cut with. His cigarette glowed faintly in the dim light, casting ash across your brother’s cheek like a quiet warning.
“You’ve got fire,” he muttered, exhaling smoke between sabertooth fangs. “Not enough. But give it time.”
Who’s-Who didn’t kill him. There was no thrill in that. No satisfaction in extinguishing something that hadn’t yet reached its full potential. He didn’t need to kill him. There was no glory in it, no sport, no challenge. And more importantly, it would undermine everything he was working toward. Killing your little brother would sever the one thread that still tied you to him through fear, guilt and even a level of curiosity. If he wanted you to crave him the way he had since the moment his eyes landed on you, then preserving your brother’s life was the necessary compromise. Even if it meant tolerating the boy’s resistance, again and again.
Instead, he gestured lazily to his men, his tone dry, almost bored.
“Drop him somewhere. Not here, not too far. Somewhere inconvenient. He’s not a threat. Not yet, at least."
The places changed. An old quarry. A beach at the edge of Kibi. A ruined shrine at Mt. Fuji. Dangerous, but survivable. He never said protect the kid. Just... Don’t make it easy for him.
He told himself it was tactical. Logical. Practical.
But deep down, he liked it. The anticipation. The little brother’s return. Each time bloodied, each time fiercer. Like watching a test subject evolve.
“Kid’s growing some teeth,” he mused once, wiping a cut from his cheek. “Maybe one day he’ll even leave a lasting mark.”
He never told you what happened when your brother disappeared for days at a time. He didn’t have to. The worry in your eyes said everything.
“You think I hurt him?” he asked one evening, lounging across from you with a broad grin. “Just a bit. He’s alive. Probably pissed. Maybe a little hungry. But alive.”
He leaned closer, and though his body radiated ease, his eyes were still hidden. Always hidden. The large, yellow-tinted lenses of his red half-mask reflected the flickering flames, giving you nothing to read. No glint of conscience. No flicker of remorse. His grin was wide, cigarette burning low between his lips, but the real him stayed just out of reach. Somewhere behind that crimson façade. It was maddening. Like talking to a shadow with a mouth.
“Thing is, you’re still here. Which means I’m doing something right.”
You hated him. Not for the violence. Not even for the manipulation.
You hated how calm he was. How certain. How his voice never rose, how his tone never cracked, even when your rage clawed at the walls of your shared silence.
Because in his mind, this was all under control. You, your brother, the twisted game you were all trapped in. Every move, every reaction, every painful delay felt like it had already been predicted.
He believed it.
He didn’t call it love. Not out loud. But sometimes, when the mask slipped... When the conversation turned to Nika, to myths, to chains you couldn't see, there was something else in his voice. Something unguarded. Not just hunger for power or vengeance.
But longing for something permanent. Something willing.
A fixation masked as fate.
Someone who wouldn’t vanish like everything else did in his life.
“You’ll get tired,” he said one night, voice low. “Of waiting for someone to save you. Of hoping your brother gets stronger. When that happens... I’ll still be here.”
His words didn’t come with promises or kindness. Only inevitability.
Like chains you didn’t know were already dragging you down.

Hey!!! You commented on my post about limetown haha which is why I’m here. You offered to give podcast recs! What are your favorites?? I’m looking for some new ones
I completely forgot I had this ask, excuse the delay. Here's a selection of 30 podcasts I enjoyed from a broad range of genres: hopefully at least one appeals.
Let me know if you're after something more specific.
Arden: (Investigative, Comedy) On the 25th of December, 2007, heiress and young actress Julie Capsom crashed her car into a tree and fled into a nearby forest clearing, leaving a trail that seemingly vanished into thin air, and a dismembered torso in the trunk. A decade later, Bea, the first reporter on the scene, and Brenda, a detective on the case, are hosting a true crime podcast about it, and neither is remotely impressed with what the other has to say. Arden is also a retelling of various Shakespeare plays.
Desperado: (Supernatural, Adventure, Horror Elements) In a modern world of gods and magic, three young people, all under the patronage of death dieties, embark on the same adventure for different reasons: for safety, for revenge, and to kill The Old Man in the Sky. Fantastic banter and killer action sequences.
The Far Meridian: (Magical Realism) An agoraphobic young woman wakes one day to discover her lighthouse home has travelled to somewhere entirely unfamilar. As this continues to happen day after day, she uses the opportunity to search for her missing brother. A really unique and charming piece of fiction.
Gastronaut: (Sci-Fi) Interstellar travel audio blog of a former food critic as he travels to an active warzone to get firsthand experience with unfamilar cuisine. ft. Disgruntled martian nobility, sinister businessmen, explosive mushrooms, forbidden snacks, rogue revolutionary artists, and the consequences of your actions.
Girl in Space: (Sci-Fi) The Girl In Space lives alone on a space station, doing science, making cheese, rewatching Jurassic Park, and tending to the plants, animals, and artificial sun entrusted to her. It's a little lonely, but not a bad life. Would be a shame if someone came along to ruin it.
The Goblet Wire: (Microfiction, Weird Fiction) A surreal microfiction with horror elements, taking the form of phone calls to an audio-based game in which the voice of the mysterious Dictator leads each player through fantastic and horrific world and story.
Hello From The Hallowoods: (Horror, Supernatural) A dramatic entity beyond your comprehension visits your nightmares to tell stories of the people (in varying degrees of human and alive) that inhabit the strange, deadly, and beautiful Hallowoods, as they find meaning and sometimes eachother.
Hi Nay: (Supernatural Horror) A year after moving to Toronto, sound designer Mari finds herself drawn into helping people around the city with various horrific supernatural encounters due to her babaylan (shaman) family background. It quickly becomes apparent that there's something much more sinister and complicated happening in the background.
Inco: (Microfiction, Sci-Fi) A perpetually exausted interstellar information trader and her peppy AI find a mysterious (read: bratty) boy floating in space and are inadventently pulled into a world political intrigue.
Inn Between: (Fantasy) Ever curious about what the D&D characters get up to at the tavern between sessions? A generally lighter-hearted (with some exceptions) with richly-written and always-growing characters. A really interesting format, too: a lot of the adventure appears in the "next time" and "last time" segments which makes it all flow really nicely. Not a tabletop podcast.
Janus Descending: (Sci-Fi, Horror, Tragedy) A xenoarcheologist and a xenopaleontologist are sent to a study a dead city on a distant world. Nobody likes what they find there. A unique format, with one set of logs presented first to last, and the other last to first. I'd recommend listening to the supercut for this one.
The Kingmaker Histories: (Steampunk, Weird Fiction, Adventure, Fantasy Elements) In the Valorian Socialist Republic 1911, on her 25th birthday, tailor's apprentice Colette experienced the worst headache of her life. As a result, she fleed from town with a human artificer and a fae chef - both now smugglers - pursued by an utterly furious flesh-crafter. I'm not sure I'm selling how good this podcast is but it's very good.
Life With Althaar: (Sci-Fi, Comedy) A human repairman moves to a space station on the edge of human territory that is perpetually on the edge of self-destruction, and ends up with a less-than-ideal last-minute roomate. Althaar is polite, friendly, deeply interested in human culture, and eager to be friends. Unfortunately he belongs to a species that sends humans into a visceral panic at a glance.
Lost Terminal: (Sci-Fi, Hopepunk) Seth is a very lonely AI living on a satellite. His crew were left stranded aboard with no hope of return, and it's been longer than he can count since then. The Earth below him has changed dramatically, and with only a few other AI down there to talk to, he's very lonely. But! He has a plan to make some new friends.
Love and Luck: (Romance, Slice-of-Life and Urban Fantasy Elements) Voice messages cataloguing two young men falling in love and opening a queer dry bar together.
Midnight Radio: (Light Supernatural, Romance) Sybil McIntyre, host of the ever-popular 1950's nightly radio hour, begins exchanging letters with an old fan who has reluctantly returned to visit Sybil's beloved town.
Midst: (Weird Fiction, Western, Sci-Fi and Fantasy Elements) The old-western planetoid islet of Midst floats, rotating steadily, in a sea of reality-warping darkness. Down in the town of Stationary Hill, things are in movement, and vistors from the light above are about to bring unanticipated change. ft a monocycle-riding monster-hunter, radio-famous airship paladins, deadly mica, the universe's peppiest cultist, good dogs, and a really strange businessman.
The Mistholme Museum of Mystery, Morbidity, and Mortality: (Weird Fiction, Supernatural, Urban Fantasy and Horror Elements) A friendly AI tour guide leads you on a tour of the Mistholme Museum, explaining the strange and often alternatural story behind each item.
Monstrous Agonies: (Supernatural, Relationship Advice) An interpersonal advice show for supernatural entities and other people living liminally in the modern world.
Night Shift: (Urban Fantasy, Investigative) Set in a modern world with the addition of magic, which manifests in small inherited skills/traits, can warp people in horrific ways, or can be manipulated with the right science (and intense work) to induce superpowers. Sebastian Fenn is a barista at Night Shift Coffee, but since things are slow he's decided to start a podcast to talk about various mysteries, crimes and conspiracies around the city, and of course finds himself deeper in them than he'd intended.
The Pasithea Powder: (Sci-Fi, Thriller Elements? I think?) The last major interplanetary war was full of atrocities, but none more infamous then the creation of Pasithea Powder, a memory altering drug which was used to horrible effect and landed it's entire team of creators in prison. So when decorated war hero Captain Sophie Green sees one of them wandering free, worlds away from his prison, she gets in touch with a very old, estranged friend: one Dr. Jane Gonzalez, who's behind bars for the very same reason.
SCP: Find Us Alive: (Weird Fiction, Supernatural, Horror and Slice-of-Life elements) You don't need to know anything about SCP to enjoy this. A research team gets trapped in an underground research facility when the complex collapses and the building is dragged into a pocket dimension. The tear it was designed to study begins creating tiny copies of itself, generating strange entities the team needs to deal with. And as if that wasn't enough, the entire situation physically resets itself every 30 days. And yet, this is genuinely also an office comedy.
Second Star to the Left: (Sci-Fi) Audio logs of a scout sent to explore and establish early infastructure new world, and the communications with the minder in charge of keeping her alive.
Seen and Not Heard: (Slice-of-Life, Drama) Seen and Not Heard follows Bet, who's still adjusting to life a year after a bout of severe illness, and the resulting hearing loss it caused. It's about the ways we make connection, and food, and art, and different kinds of grief.
The Silt Verses: (Horror) In a modern world where gods are abundant, frequently both commercialised and restricted, two devotees of an outlawed river god go on a pilgrimage.
SINKHOLE: (Sci-Fi, Weird Fiction) Forum posts from a data restoration community in a near future where the human brain is its own computer and one city hosts a massive void.
Starfall: (Fantasy) Seeking to escape her mysterious past and find some purpose, a young swordswoman joins a travelling actor's troupe. This new life is unfamilar and sometimes stressful, but she's taken under the wing of stagehand Fel, who's determined to help her feel welcome as she experiences the figurative and literal magic of the theatre for the first time.
The Tower: (Weird Fiction) A low-key, meditative podcasy about a young woman who decides to climb a seemingly endless tower. Gorgeous sound design.
The Vesta Clinic: (Sci-Fi) New GP Dr. Fae Underwood, with the expert transcription skills of resident AI Sec, writes up patient reports on human and alien patients of The Vesta Clinic, a medical clinic on the edge of human space. Really comfy and creative.
Victoriocity: (Steampunk, Mystery) Set in the steam-powered Victorian city of Even Greater London, an aspiring journalist and a tired detective find themselves working together to solve a strange murder. I say Victorian but as queen Victoria is now an extensive grandiocity of cyborg components following seven only-kind-of-successful assassinations, you may need to adjust expectations a little.

Jason Todd loves to travel to cozy forest cabin getaways with you
Tumblr media
🍂 Especially in the middle of autumn/one the cusp of winter. A little strange, considering people usually prefer spring, summer or at least warmer months of autumn. You asked him about it once, he said it's the calmness of the forest that's preparing for winter.
Like everything's falling asleep. Calm, quiet, undisturbed by anything.
🍂 You have one place surrounded by mountains that you book year in advance and visit every year for a week. It's a long wooden hut made of layered logs with stone fireplace and terrace window overlooking nature. Nestled on the high slope right under the mountain, it offers a beautiful view of valley with river curling like a snake through the slopes and acres upon acres of ancient pine trees.
🍂 He makes sure you're stocked with everything you need. Even the things you don't need but he bought them because he knew you liked them. Your favorite coffee, dried fruits and nuts, his favorite beef jerky, soup cans, store bought dough for pizza, fresh buns and cinnamon buns, eggs for morning omelettes, pumkin spice and ingredients for simmer pot (you taught him to drink that pretty quickly).
🍂 It's that calm quiet routine he falls into wih you there that he loves the most. You wake up late, burried under the patterned blankets, to a cold autumn morning with golden-brown leaves falling behind your window. He doesn't want to let you go until you bribe him with fresh coffee. It another half an hour before you get out of bed, either talking or reading your respective books you brought with you. Then and only then, you get out of bed. Usually one makes breakfeast while other gets ready or sits at the dining table. You rarely use that table, usually taking the food either outside on the terrace, the couch or bed.
🍂 Your days are filled with hiking and walks through the wilderness. Each morning greets you with the soft light of dawn as you lace up your hiking boots, ready to explore the outdoors. The air is fresh and crisp, filled with the earthy scents of pine and wildflowers.
As you venture deeper into the wild, you find yourself surrounded by towering trees that sway gently in the breeze. You might encounter babbling brooks that meander through the landscape, their crystal-clear waters shimmering in the sunlight. With every step, you are greeted by the symphony of nature—the cheerful chirping of birds, the rustle of small creatures in the underbrush, and the distant sounds of nature that fill the air with tranquility.
Each hike offers its own unique adventure: sometimes you climb to breathtaking vistas that reveal sprawling valleys below, while other times, you wander through serene glades where wild animals may cross your path. You take the time to pause and appreciate the beauty around you, capturing moments with photographs or simply soaking in the sights and sounds.
In the evenings, as the sun sets and casts a warm glow across the horizon, you reflect on the day’s explorations, feeling a deep sense of gratitude for the connection you have with nature. Whether trekking through rugged mountain terrain or strolling along peaceful forest paths.
🍂 Unlike eating times, your walks are usually filled with peacefull silence, disturbed only by the sounds of rustling leaves, crunching of branches under your feet or animals. Speak of which, you were pretty nervous when you encountered bear or moose, but Jason assured you that as long as you don't bother them, they won't bother you. You didn't know that wolves are so much bigger that a dog until a pack of them was chilling early in the morning around your cabin.
🍂 You make sure to bring your beaten-down old camera on these trips. Because some of these breathtaking sights cannot be captured by a phone. You have tons of them with beautiful sighs of nature, that one time you decided to go up the mountain slope, and the little fox family you stumbled upon. There's also plenty of pictures of Jason, sometimes taken without his knowledge. It's a rare sight when you manage to see that expression of pure serenity on his face, let alone capture it on the camera. There's one you cherish the most. It was taken when you climbed up the hill to a clearing. The sunlight is still peeking over the mountains and is shining directly on his back. He looks to the side and light illuminates his face perfectly, tracing the lines of his face in light and shadow. Dark strands peek from underneath his beanie and his neck is buriend in the scarf you made him. A fog is rising from his lips and one green eye is cast in sunlight. In the background, a blurried out expanse of forest and mountaintops. A copy of this photo made its way to the Wayne manor.
🍂 In the evenings, you cook dinner together and then either play boardgames or, you guessed it, read some more. Jason always looks forward to cooking dinner with you. You blast music for your portable radio, you mess with each other by throwing bits of food and argue what toppings should or should not go on a pizza. You test out what board games would stand the trial on the game nights with his family and you always end with cards against humanity. Your always at disadvantage when playing Black Stories. It's not your fault you're not detective like someone.
🍂 Out of all activities, your absolute favorite undoubtedly has to be stargazing with Jason. There’s something truly magical about those nights spent together, standing under the open sky, clean of the polution of Gotham city.
In those quiet moments, as you both gaze up at the milions of twinkling lights, you feel a deep sense of peace and connection. The cool night air envelops you, and every sigh, every laugh, and every shared dream feels amplified against the backdrop of shimmering constellations. With Jason by your side, it’s not just about the beauty of the night's sky; it's about the warmth of his presence, the quiet conversations that stretch into the night, and the comfort of knowing that you’re sharing these moments with the person you love most. The stars don’t just fill the sky; they light up your hearts, creating a memories that feels timeless and everlasting.

The No One & Nobody Podcast
Tumblr media
What is it?
Hello! My name is Rue, welcome to the blog for my podcast!
NO&N is my currently work in progress horror fiction podcast. It follows the main characters Karlie and Amy. Two urban explorers who run a YouTube channel and a podcast together.
Supernatural and strange occurrences start to happen at the abandoned sites they visit. The podcast follows them investigating and logging the various creatures they encounter.
I’m not sure when it will be out but I’m working hard on it right now and hopefully I’ll have a trailer soon 💪
What am I going to be posting here?
Mostly this blog is just going to be for fun to post updates and art from the project. But I will be making some posts meant to be from the point of view of Karlie and Amy posting online about their adventures.
Other stuff I don’t know how to categorize.
I’m trying to make short comics to go along side the podcast. I’ll probably end up posting some of that here before the podcast comes out and after.
I’m really excited though! I’ve never shared something I’ve worked on like this before. I don’t know how often I’ll share stuff since this blog is really just for fun to motivate me to work on it.
Thank you for reading 💜

O.R.C.A.’s Directory
(Finally coming back to this concept after several months ^^;)
O.R.C.A. in #re_rise doesn’t just run Alterna in the background and give you orders– it’s a system you interact with regularly as the player; a database that facilitates your adventure and keeps track of your accomplishments. It is accessed through terminals placed at key spots on each site, which you have to find, activate, and physically walk to if you want to use them.
Most of the contents of the Menu (except the Sunken Scrolls) are now consolidated into O.R.C.A., along with a few bonus features~
Alterna Archive: Basically the Alterna Logs– all the information about Alterna’s history, from creation to collapse (referencing my rewritten version of this backstory, of course). As you clear lab spaces with different weapons, earn Golden Eggs, activate terminals, collect Nostalgic Devices, etc., the files will be decrypted line by line. Basically, anything that contributes to your percent completion of the game will count towards this…so just enjoy Alterna the way you like, and you’ll eventually reveal the entire archive without too much extra effort. ^^ This story is O.R.C.A.’s gift to you; your reward for reawakening its home.
Lab Notebook: Notes written by the ‘mysterious researcher’ currently working in Alterna, earned in order from newest to oldest, so we can gradually learn what the Fuzzy Ooze is and why he made it, as well as his origin story and true identity (in his own words~). These replace ‘Log.exe’ from the actual game. Lab notes are found by reaching computers hidden within the lab spaces, kinda like the Power Egg packs. They are purposely placed in the more challenging spaces, and you must clear the space in order to take the note with you– if you wanna learn the main antagonist’s secrets, you gotta put in the work. ^^
Wellness File: Records of Neo Agent 3’s responses to the environment, once you obtain the biometric monitor in Cryogenic Hopetown (more on that later). This is essentially an account of how the player character is feeling at each point in the story– a new entry will be created after each encounter with a major character (Deep Cut, the King Salmonids, the Squid Sisters, etc.) or a particularly interesting Alterna landmark. ;)
Nostalgia Index: List of all the Nostalgic Devices you’ve collected, which Alterna citizens they belonged to, and what they used them for. The citizens’ names are redacted, but you do get to learn a bit about the different kinds of people who lived in Alterna, and connect with them through the items they left behind.
Skill Tree: Basically the same as the in-game version, minus the Hero Shot buffs– in #re_rise you don’t get the Hero Shot until you gain the Hero Gear in the last stretch of the game. Instead you borrow from weapons’ lockers placed around Alterna…meaning you can carry the weapon of your choice as you explore each site, offering you a wider variety of strategies to use on those balloon challenges, for instance. ^^ But I digress…
Camera Roll: One of the Nostalgic Devices you can find is a digital camera, and once you’ve obtained it, you can take pictures with it and upload them to the terminal (as well as your regular photo gallery, when you’re back on the surface). The Alterna Camera comes with its own special filters, and characters you aim it at will pose for you. ^^ This feature is basically just for funzies, but if you can snap a picture of that large figure lurking in the shadows, you’ll earn a special clothing item.
Messages: Occasionally you will receive mysterious messages, warning you with increasing severity to stay out of their laboratory (and bring back their golden eggs…sure sounds familiar). Are these warnings for their sake or for yours…?
Map: Even the site maps are only accessible through the terminals, they’re not available whenever. Maybe that would be a controversial choice…but I think it’d be okay in this instance, since (a) the Alterna islands are pretty small, and (b) I’ve invented a fun system that might help– the Sticker Beakons! ^^
Around Alterna, you can find Sticker Sheets with 3 Sticker Beakons each, to place and replace wherever you want on any island. They shine like actual beacons so you can use them to navigate while you wander around on foot, and once you reach a terminal you can jump to them like normal Squid Beakons. They come in different shapes and designs like the stickers from Hotlantis, and double as actual stickers you can place on your locker, once you’ve found them in Alterna. ^^
I feel like forcing the player to walk around is more forgivable when you give them something cute and customizable like this to play with. :D If you want to use all 18 Sticker Beakons on one island at a time because you’re super directionally-challenged, you can. If you want to use them to simply mark your favorite Alterna landmarks so you can jump to them easily, you can do that too.
Maybe as a compromise, I might add a ‘Return to Nearest Terminal’ option in the Menu…but I think encouraging the player to get out there and actively explore can’t hurt. Part of my philosophy with this re-concept is to make Alterna an interesting place that the player would WANT to explore, and all these added collectibles are part of that.

stray canto vii part 1 thoughts (warning: long)
so many cool new designs!! it made me realize how few of interest we got in Canto VI. Then almost everything was pretty standard (classic maid and butler outfits, lots of suits, Cathy had a fancy dress at least? and everything was brown. yes I know, T Corp color drain, but still. and Öufi came before season 3 ended so that didn’t count), but this time we have Camille, the P Corp guys, Fanghunt Office, Hugo I guess, Hong Lu’s sister, the firefist guy? if he counts? he barely appeared, Sansón, and all the fancy dressed up bloodfiends. woo babey!!
speaking of Jia Xichun, I like her! She’s cute! I didn’t expect to see anyone related to Hong Lu, but in retrospect I probably should’ve, since his turn is next and his family is massive. I hope nothing bad happens to her. I've never read Dream of the Red Chamber
also speaking of Hugo, lol. lmao. when he was talking about pressing the button to get the reward I was like “oh hopkins 2, got it” and then Ryōshū sliced off his hands so I guess… not hopkins 2
ALSO the blonde Fanghunt guy is named Romero, which is apparently the name of a character in Vampire: The Masquerade. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was an intentional reference
Sinclair cursing that one guy out was so awesome. I remember when Canto V part 2 came out and he censored himself saying “Bitch Brother” people were worried that the new translators were making him softer than he actually was, but, nah, he tries his best to be a polite boy but when he’s actually genuinely pissed off he does not hold back. Ryōshū correcting him BUT THEN SAYING HIS INTERPRETATION WAS GOOD absolutely killed me. my son demands respect
it’s a good day to be a Leviathan fan
The scripted loss encounter was so cool. They set you to level 45 no matter what level your LCB Don is, and take away all your EGO except the base (which you can’t even use), and I don’t know how far you can actually get in this fight because I flipped tails every single time and lost every clash
Tumblr media
let’s talk about the Barber! leave it to Project Moon to look at the character who didn’t have very much of a personality who stuck around with the priest and attempted multiple plans to bring Don Quixote back home so he could become sane again (and burned a bunch of Quixote’s chivalry books, also with the priest), and turned him into an insane vampire woman with big scissors and a shrill cackle who stitches masks onto people’s faces.
interesting choice to have Sancho and Dulcinea both named in a single line and then not acknowledged or mentioned again
Sansón! so based on his story log portrait background being bisexual, the blue name, and him resembling someone in Demian’s group in the Limbus Company PV, I feel confident saying he’s part of Demian’s Group. The spot where his Sign would be is covered by his mask, though, so no one in-universe knows
I think this is why Sinclair was cast in the role of the Knight of the White Moon: he also has the sign, which Sansón (who is the Knight of the White Moon) would be able to see, and even if other sinners have it too, they’re not Demian’s special guy. everyone else, though, seemed to be cast in the most humiliating role possible: horse to be ridden for Gregor, wild animal for Heathcliff, random peasant for Rodya, presumably homeless old person for Outis
ok Sansón. in the book, he’s a young college student who read the first part of Don Quixote and, in part 2, approaches Quixote saying he’s a big fan and encouraging him to go back out and do more knight stuff. However, he actually just thinks Don Quixote’s antics are very amusing and isn’t actually an earnest supporter, and is conspiring with the barber and priest to get Quixote back home to stay. the way they (priest and barber try to bring him home in part 1 is by tricking him with an adventure that’s conveniently in the same direction as their home village, but then they get sidetracked in an inn for a long time so they just put him in a cage and drive him home. in part 2, they want to play on Quixote’s terms for a more effective result. near the beginning of the second part, they have Sansón dress as a knight (called the Knight of Mirrors/Knight of the Forest. these titles have no significance in the book but apparently the mirror thing forces Quixote to see himself as the frail old man he is in Man of La Mancha), say his lady is fairer than Dulcinea to get Don Quixote to duel him, and then make Quixote promise to stay home for a year when he loses. however, Sansón is the one who loses, because he wasn’t expecting Quixote to actually be good at jousting. Later, near the very end, which iirc is 3 months after the first encounter, another knight called the Knight of the White Moon issues the exact same challenge to Don Quixote (it’s just Sansón again, and "White Moon" has no significance in the original book either), but this time Sansón wins, so Don Quixote goes home, dejected, and then becomes “sane” again and dies.
Since this Sansón is part of Demian’s group, I don’t think his intentions will be the same- the Barber was a bloodfiend, and he sees beyond the ambitions of the bloodfiends now- but it’s fun to know how he is in the source nonetheless
I really like how he didn’t show up after the Barber’s defeat to say something cryptic and then leave, he told us quite a bit, and though his methods were… questionable, he DID force the sinners to actually finally pay attention to Don Quixote
speaking of the stage play, I like the juxtaposition between Sansón’s play and the Barber’s. in a different context, what Sansón did might’ve been framed as horrifying, and we’d be talking about how uncanny and unreal this is, but I don’t think that’s the intention here. the sinners might be playing roles, and all the enemies are cardboard cutouts, but it’s better than putting targets on real people (though I guess they’re not “people”, they’re bad, bad, bloodfiends). the cheerful music in La Manchaland is distorted and out of place, while the stage play is nice in comparison. the music for the talking sections is a bit too upbeat for the situation, but the music during the battles really immerses you. guitar! trumpet! maraca! this music is clearly composed to emulate spanish music, and it’s very earnest, which I think is important, with how easily music sets tone in media.
in both cases, Don Quixote is in a delusion. nothing in the stage play of her adventures is real, but she’s also completely wrapped up in the narrative of evil bloodfiends without the knowledge that she is one. a violent nightmare and a peaceful dream, both of which she needs to wake up from.
they both do this thing with black-and-white thinking, too. there’s a difference between the “good” bloodfiends, which you should get along with, and the “bad” ones, which you need to kill (though Don sees them both as bad), and then the bandits in the stage play are cartoonishly evil and love to bully the weak. except it seems the first is the narrative the Barber wanted to sell, while the second is Don Quixote’s reality… I mean, the play is definitely inaccurate, but we’ve seen how Don behaves
if you follow me for kingdom hearts and are for some reason reading this you know how much I love Nobodies in kh. people who used to be human, but aren’t anymore, who look close enough but are different on an intrinsic and physiological level, that everyone automatically treats as unreasonable monsters that need to die when they’re more complicated than that… I love it so much, I’m cheering and clapping whenever bloodfiend morality is brought up. Moses said that Larierre was cordial and offered her a place to sit and talk, but then also said bloodfiends are insatiably hungry and you shouldn’t underestimate them. agh I love it
also THE MUSIIIIIC every fight theme so far has been a banger. songs that were already good but with typical carnival instruments, big brass swing, the aforementioned nice spanish music, and the fucked up and evil sequel to dubstep electroswing featuring evil laughter
and finally, the helm of mambrino. in early part 1 of Don Quixote, he sees a barber (COMPLETELY unrelated barber to the other barber btw) carrying a basin on his head, and thinks it’s the amazing mystical Helm of Mambrino, so he attacks the barber and steals the basin. Don Quixote wears it as a helmet a few times and everyone thinks it looks really stupid. they did not fight a bear for it, nor did they go into a cave. idk what this might actually be in the City. either we’ll see or we won’t
