hello! yes! I did know a bit about this - last time we chatted, Misha mentioned that tv stuff was brewing again, which of course I'm thrilled about.

I would love to be involved, and both Misha and Aaron are my biggest cheerleaders and I know are putting my name forward whenever they can! but ultimately, tv is a very different beast and the folks who will get to have the final say on who writes on the show may not be Misha and Aaron, so there's certainly no guarantee. we're also a ways away from that I think - I've been through the tv development thing a few times before (we all have) and I'm so glad Jensen and Daneel are involved now and I really hope it goes all the way!

Knowing nothing about Anon, I like to think they act like a video game avatar.

This leads to such behaviours as:

Running everywhere. Almost never walking unless they’re indoors

Parkour everywhere. They’ll wall jump up the side of a building rather than use the elevator

‘Spamming moves’ when they’re bored, e.g. jumping in place, punching the air

Running off mid-dialogue when they’re done with the discussion

If whoever they’re talking to allows it, will run in circles around them during the conversation (they really are listening they promise)

If they’re thinking really hard about something they’ll just go idle and it’s really hard to get their attention until they’re done. Other programs do this too but to a lesser extent. Anon you could pick up and walk off with. They do have enough awareness to only do it when in a safe area

Also headcanon that they have no face under the helmet, and no voice of their own. They ping messages to other programs or have a pet byte that talks for them. The byte often sits in their helmet (which is hollow)

Okayy we got a Voyager science officer cosplay to make, here(wa)s the plan:

Using an existing pattern I found on etsy, I made adjustments based on vibes reference pictures of Janeway from Night and seeing what other people have made before (shout out to thresholdbb I was Looking at their past cosplays).

Half the battle was decoding what the vintage pattern instructions were trying to tell me 🤡 but eventually with the help of the internet and my mom on call I figured out each step!

Oh and I had to learn how to iron and how the whole dang sewing machine worked, oiling it, threading the bobbin and needle, I even took apart the foot pedal at one point because I thought it wasn't working lol.

The mockups below, I made one out of Swedish tracing paper and the next one out of cotton (curtains I thrifted) after confirming that it would probably fit:

Turned out pretty good but I decided to move the front seams over just a bit...

Laying out the final pattern:

Cutting out the final pieces was really exciting it was starting to look like something!!

Detail shots below... I didn't feel like I could get the crispness I wanted for the shoulder points with the machine so I did it by hand :')

The shoulder pads were very exciting to put in as well!! I asked the person at JoAnn what the difference was between the two different shoulder pads I had picked up and they said one was more 80s power suit-- that was definitely the one I wanted for this jacket hehe

The final jacket below with a top I found on ebay (also found boots from there)!!! I ended up putting the sleeves in with a machine and ummm there's some puckering I'm trying not to be annoyed about h a h a. I may go back and fix that eventually I don't know... The invisible zipper I got didn't work either so I need to replace that somehow too hrm.

Anyway, I thrifted pants because I didn't want to tackle a whole other piece; I just added fabric to the bottom because they were a smidge short and then cut the iconic vent.

Here's the jacket on me, taken with a weird camera angle so the shoulders are a bit wonky at the edges haha but look!! I lined everything up so well!!

Awright Lessons I Learned:

sewing projects take much much longer than anticipated (I went to stsf and was sewing licherally the night before and morning of. I know it's the convention experience but I was a tad stressed lol)

hand sewing in particular takes forever but I enjoyed it!

people are right to complain about setting in sleeves what da hell was that

flannel (what I used for the black part because it matched the pants the best) was great to work with

linen (the best teal they had in the store) was not!! doesn't iron well, doesn't sew well I don't want to use it ever again <3

this was my first sewing project Ever and I still was pretty hard on myself e h e..........much to think about...

I've ended up absently assigning personalities to the dr. linnell clones that absolutely don't have enough screen time outside a children's music video to develop unique ones independent of "gremlins causing havoc", and in doing so, have definitely reached peak "tumblr user overthinking baby media".

red is de facto leader who takes initiative in most scenarios; purple/indigo? (kind of assumed there was an RGB light thing going on here) is lazier and more willing to let others do the work but likes stirring up problems; green is a little more relaxed and less concerned with disrupting scientific education (he even secretly enjoys it), but all of them have an innate pull to pester and rarely disagree on actions involving destruction.

thinking about that art i just reblogged and how i think a lot of my identity is centered around my fatness as well, and having a lot of internalized stuff still in 'i can't be/do x because im fat' because i rarely see fat fems/femmes so obviously i can't be that (not true). i've said before i don't think im particularly fem or masc, but being androgynous would be nice but again, it's rare seeing fat people who are androgynous. fatphobia in the lgbtqia+/queer communities isn't a new thing, but god it's still. tiring. being genderfluid/genderqueer/whatever is where im currently at but i feel just. tired. i guess. of not seeing many others like me. that i feel like i can't be these things because im fat, because i have a large chest, because of xyz. like i can be these things, i know that, but. i don't know. explaining this in a concise way isn't easy for me.

anytime there's production trivia for something i've actually seen like "& the director didn't tell any of the actors this was going to happen so as to get Not Acted Surprise, from the Actors" it's like that's so funny the way i didn't ever see that part as like wow that seemed so particularly genuine to me compared to other parts of this work or other works in general. but on the other hand there'll be scenes in something where a surprising event occurs around multiple characters and there'll be trivia like "wow the way nobody (else) knew this was going to happen beforehand, in so impactful a scene, that makes sense" and then someone involved will be like that's not true

I use kind of a futuristic looking electric wheelchair, so I was thinking of doing an adeptus mechanicus cosplay this year? I think all the wires and robot parts would look cool as hell tied into the chair design.

But with the space marines video game coming out.... I'm so tempted to make a necron cosplay instead. With a voice changer. Can you imagine seeing one of those giant marine cosplays across a convention, and in a robot voice
