I originally intended for this post to be just about the passing of Doctor Paul Farmer, one of the towering intellectual, neurobiological, and immunological thinkers, and theorist, of the 20th, and 21st century. However, after finishing a class in my Yale online Co-Op at Coursera.org, on The Moral Foundations of Politics, with Dr. Ian Shapiro, one of the schools, and 20th, and 21st centuries, most distinguished, and accomplished philosophers, and theorist...

On 14th March 1952, the first TV programme to be broadcast within Scotland showed the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society performing the Duke of Edinburgh Reel.
This day would be beginning of television as we now know it in Scotland. The programme was broadcast from the Kirk o’ Shotts transmitter, using the 405-line television system.
Full service began on the 17 August of the same year and remained black and white until colour broadcasting began in 1971 when then BBC Scotland’s studios were upgraded. The programme itself was celebrating the opening of the Kirk o’ Shotts station in Lanarkshire and was filmed in Studio 1 of Edinburgh’s Broadcasting House. The voices that narrated the evening’s events to the viewers were Mary Malcolm and Alastair MacIntyre. The programme must have been truly wondrous for those lucky enough to watch it.
The first pic shows crowds gather outside a shop window to watch the first broadcast, next, Mary Malcolm, Alastair Macintyre, James Stuart and Lord Tedder and last is the platform party at the first broadcast.

What is important about philosophy is the way in which a life informed by... philosophical inquiry and guided by its conclusions will be significantly different from the life of someone in other respects like the philosopher, but untouched by philosophy. — Alastair MacIntyre pic.twitter.com/MjfyLEYsO5

On 14th March 1952, the first TV programme to be broadcast in Scotland showed the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society performing the Duke of Edinburgh Reel.
The first pic shows crowds gather outside a shop window to watch the first broadcast, next, Mary Malcolm, Alastair Macintyre, James Stuart and Lord Tedder and last is the platform party at the first broadcast
