Either the bar is abysmally low or they're just cracked despite sleeping through lectures and not studying. I'm leaning toward the ladder. I think they're one of those kids that doesn't study or try during high school, but still gets decent marks. You know the type. Noelle mentioned that they've asked for her help studying before. Though, I feel like this might have been one of their excuses to hang out at Noelle's house. Kris is so interesting to me. They are so goddamn shady and aloof, but also really silly. Rotates them in my mind.

While I cannot bring myself to hate her, I think the depth of her mistakes is greater than some people realize. Sock Muppet does an excellent breakdown showing that there were likely two Determination experiments, and instead of yielding to precedent and possibly losing the job she had just gotten, Alphys caused untold suffering. Through that lens, her self-hatred makes a lot more sense than I think it does through the single DT experiment lens. But even if you don't believe all that, she certainly doesn't deserve the hate she gets. Either way, she really couldn't have known what the consequences would be, and they're something she can't take back. The reflexive hate for Alphys is usually in response to the shame people find in their similarities to her, in cowardice and anxiety.

drawing dr alphys art in 2025 and encountering the recurring alphys haters again is making me think like... did y'all even read the true lab entries?? like you know the monsters that were sent for the experiment were dead right? they were literally waiting for them to turn to dust. And the experiment wasn't to revive them or prevent them from dying. it was to make their souls persist after their bodies dissolved like human souls do. that way they could collect monster souls and slowly build up to being able to break the barrier.

the monsters waking up and becoming amalgams was completely unintended and unexpected. i see a lot of people act like Alphys did some horrible experiment on like living people to turn them into horrible fused monstrosities and it's like No?????? Can you read???
