Whaaaat is Clan MaCrieve?

The MacRieves are the ruling werewolf family in Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series! Every werewolf hero in IAD, thus far, has been a MacRieve.

Whaaaaaaaaat do Kresley werewolves do?

I'm so glad you asked! Kresley werewolves (lykae) are pretty much always Scottish, they're massive (even by IAD standards, so they're probably all 7+ feet tall lbr), and they don't actually shift into wolves, but they do shift into... something. They all have an inner Beast that they only talk to some of the time (it's like their inner goddess or something), and that Beast IMMEDIATELY recognizes their mate. But it's not love, right? It's just obsession and a need to claim and protect and serve. It's their RELIGION. Then comes love!

Which books do I get?

Not every MacRieve book, but that's okay because MacRieve (about the angstiest werewolf, MacRieve known as MacRieve head of Clan MacRieve but not KING) and Munro (the one about the dad friend time traveling) are not as standalone as the first three.

A Hunger Like No Other—The first full-length IAD book, in which Lachlain MacRieve long-lost werewolf king, scents his mate from underground where he's been tortured in the Parisian catacombs by vampires were eternal flames for 150 years, GNAWS HIS OWN LEG OFF (it grows back), and finds her at a random cafe and goes "YOU". Then it turns out she is, in fact, a vampire (partly) and he is QUITE. MIFFED. You want an alpha??? Lachlain is THEE. ALPHA. You want enemies to lovers? Lmao. You want... some consent issues??? But I'm not gonna lie it deeply works for ME? Yeah.

Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night—Lachlain's cousin Bowen is the only werewolf who's survived the death of his mate (because every other werewolf, and I'm not exaggerating, IMMEDIATELY kills himself when that happens). But he's lived a half-life, he's miserable, yada yada yada, and he enters this magical scavenger hunt to win a key that will allow him to travel back in time and prevent her death. Was her death his fault? UH! SORTA! Catch: one of the competitors in the hunt is former college cheerleader/witch Mariketa, who not only HEXES Bowen, but makes him SUPER FUCKING HORNY. Which shouldn't be happening! He shouldn't be into anyone but his mate! What the FUCK Mariketa? Obviously, the only logical solution is to join forces. Obviously. An excellent "local man is terrorized by woman is small, opinionated" book.

Pleasure of a Dark Prince—One of my top 2 IAD books! Garreth MacRieve, brother of Lachlain, has had to sub in as king for 150 years, which is not fun or sexy. But hark! It is his mate! Except it turns out that Lucia is a valkyrie sworn to keep a vow of chastity in order to maintain her goddess-given accuracy with a bow. And even if she wasn't, it's not like she'd be into him right? Of course not, says Lucia! After a year of Garreth chasing her around and getting thrown off cliffs and such, Lucia finally decides to let him tag along while she goes on an Amazonian river cruise in order to kill the god she's sworn to defeat in order to prevent the apocalypse. But. Like. That vow of chastity. Is difficult. This one is very THE MUMMY, very "slutty slutty man meets ice queen", very hurt/comfort, very "lightning strikes when she orgasms and it's embarrassing so she'll only let him eat her out when a storm's going on and he's a werewolf right so he develops a Pavlovian response of YES????? whenever it starts raining". 100000/10.

Anyway, I recommend all these books and they are bangers at an absolute steal price, sooooo. Go for it.

Streaming services have outlived their already limited usefulness by cancelling every original or interesting show they could provide.

They could've been an excellent place for more niche tv but no. Just gotta keep growing, keep selling; nothing ever does well enough because they want all the viewers, immediately, binge watching the whole thing in a single day, every day. Nothing is meant to last; they don't want a stable audience watching a show for years, they want new subscribers. They should be more concerned with keeping the old ones imho.

What’s Kur’s relationship with other gods? Do they respect him? Hate him? Fear him? Are they respectful specifically because they’re terrified of what he could do to them? In the show, Kur is subtly associated with the hindu god Shiva (as the amazing Rhythmantjcs pointed out), who’s a benevolent god in charge of destroying the universe at the end of each natural cycle. Sorry if this is long, but I’m curious to hear your thoughts. I don’t think Kur was ever evil, he just destroyed what was harmful to cryptids and their homes…and sometimes that included entire cities, which led to some seeing Kur as a monster.

i actually havent given it much thought, but now that I am, I can see other Gods and dieties trying to tug Zak along to serve their own ends; he's gotta learn to figure out who to trust and whose connections and boons he needs.....

I already gave him a friend and confidant in Bastet; I cant begin to tell y'all about all the material ive read where Bast's been turned into this healing, introspective being, and maybe I can play around with other interpretations of Gods and things like that.

Maybe other gods of undoing would gravitate towards him?? Kur is a god of destruction, and thats just a part of life and death on planet earth. Maybe Death and his Reapers can make a few funny passes at Kur cuz he just keeps on trying to die (zak cannot catch a break lmaooooooo please give that boy a helmet)

Heck it’s a roller coaster. It’s cliche to say it but it genuinely had me giggling and enraged and wanting to cry within moments of each other. Apparently I gasped “NO YOU DID NOT!!” At one point…

I think what makes it so compelling, apart from how well the characters are drawn (as always) is the grim sense that this is an entirely realistic scenario when power is involved and politicians and the press swing against somebody.

Absolutely brilliant.

every so often i think about how i technically am not hyperfixated on a character who's from a "completed" series even though her time on the series is complete... because, well, we know she's gonna turn up at least for a cameo in season 5! but then i think to myself: haha... DO I know that? do i REALLY know? like yes they said as much after s3, eric kripke did literally say "maeve loves specifically annie" no i mean the pertinent quote was "the series won't end without us seeing maeve again" or whatever and that's a very specific promise. on the other hand, things change all the time! it's already been over 2 years since he said that. and many things could change. with the needs/priorities of the show, or like, dominique mcelligott could be having such a grand time being a doctor (?) or whatever else Not Acting that she has decided to do and perhaps wouldn't want to come back to reprise this role at all, which would be fine of course, but would mean this lil ol' fictional character i am fond of would not appear again, and that would make me feel slightly sad!

OR, something far worse could happen: there could indeed be a maeve appearance in season 5... that contradicts all of my extremely detailed beliefs about the character. so. hm. maybe a part of me hopes dominique is soooooo happy to have left acting behind

Bandai Announces Tamagotchi Paradise

First the comic book, and now the actual device. Did you think that Tamagotchi Paradise was only a comic book release? The the new Tamagotchi Paradise is focused on your Tamagotchi being a planet, and nurturing with a dial to zoom! Not only can you scroll to zoom on the new zoom dial, but you can also press it!

Officially announced are three Tamagotchi Paradise shells, Pink Land, Purple Sky, and Blue Water. Typically the programming does not differ from shell, but it does this time! The shell you choose will determine which area you start off in.

For example, if you purchase a Pink Land Tamagotchi Paradise, you will start off on land, and then you can unlock the two other areas through gameplay.

Highlight 1: You will nurture your Tamagotchi character with zoom lens. Zero in on tiny cells or gaze out at the vast universe, nurture over 50 different characters! You can zoom into Tama Space (furthest out), Tama Field, Tama, and Tama Cell (closest).

Highlight 2: There are over 50,000 characters that you can raise depending on the environment and the way that you take care of your Tamagotchi character. There are even 3 secret characters that have yet to be revealed. You can view the characters here.

There are 50 characters and 12 different species total. We’re really excited that there is a new “Breed” feature which allows Tamagotchi offspring to have genes from their parents. That’s right, genetics are back! This is huge.

Highlight 3: Test your luck by connecting with friends. Dock two Tamagotchi Paradise devices together and connect, if you succeed you can become a family! If you fail, something strange might happen…

The devices connect not through infrared, or any wireless connectivity, but rather similar to the Osutchi and Mesutchi! The tops of the devices feature a cap that can be pushed back on a hinge that will reveal the connectors that need to be physically connected to anther device in order to connect.

The Tamagotchi Paradise also supports shop codes which will allow you to see more Tama Cells of the character on the sticker. It also contains hints on how you can raise the character on the sticker. These will be delivered in the form of stickers (Tama Lab Stickers) and on accessory packaging.

You can even view your Tamagotchi at a comic level or field level, by zooming in on your Tamagotchi’s body to see what’s going on inside. You can then treat them at the cellular level to ensure they’re healthy!

There will of course be mini games to play, which will also utilize the new zoom dial. When you clean up their poop you can recycle it into biofuel to fuel your spacecraft to travel!

We’re also really excited about Lab Tama! The Deka Tamagotchi is back! Look for Lab Tama displays at select stores to view new planets that are being researched at the Tamagotchi Lab! Bring along a Tamagotchi you’ve been releasing and you’ll receive special items. Play mini games, and earn cool prizes.

On Lab Tama, you can even send your Tamagotchi to a new planet being researched at the Tamagotchi Lab, and if they’re a good match, they could even breed a new Tamagotchi. There’s a Tama Watch feature where you can discover even more characters. There’s also a secret feature that has yet to be announced.

At certain stores, you can connect your Tamagotchi Paradise device with the Tama Lab researchers' (store staff) devices! Connect with researches to earn up to 12 exclusive items.

These Tama Lab displays will start appearing in participating stores later this year.

The Tamagotchi Paradise also returns to replaceable batteries, requiring two AAA batteries, and no longer a built-in lithium ion battery with USB-C connectivity.

Each Tamagotchi Paradise comes with an instruction manual, and a nurturing guide!
