Do Androids Bleed Silver? (Ch.1) -- The Cat Returns fanfic
Hey everyone, I wrote another story and this time it isn’t a one-shot but a chaptered one. Yay! This is my first time doing a sci-fi story, so if it seems a little strange or odd, I apologize but I wanted to get something out before I go on vacation. Anyway, hope you all enjoy it! Also tagging @catsafarithewriter because they have been a wonderful support and inspiration.

Summary: Cyberpunk/Android AU
=============================================
‘Next stop; Shibuya Station. I repeat, next stop Shibuya Station.’ The automated voice sounded over the train intercom, ‘please wait until the train comes to a complete stop and stand away from the opening doors before disembarking.’
Looking down at the half-crumbled note in her hand, Haru took hold of her frayed but well-loved duffle bag and stood from her seat. “I guess this is my stop,” she muttered aloud before the exiting the train and out of the station.
In the year of 2207, the use of androids and cybernetics had advance to a level where their use was a common practice and the backbone of modern society; even in her much smaller hometown. But after entering Shibuya Crossing- Haru felt her backwater home was definitely not on the same level as Tokyo. The famed metropolis was well regarded as the forefront of robotics and cybernetics throughout the entire world but the invention of CREATIONS was the achievement that truly put the city into a category all of its own. Though technically possessing a robotics classification, many who’ve had the chance to see a CREATION regarded them as so life-like, it was almost as if their creator had conjured life itself….
And it was part of the reason why Haru wanted to study robotics in Tokyo; as the only robots that her hometown possessed were generic models of the Alpha and Beta-Classes. She wanted to see the daily technological wonders always taking place in Tokyo. But in truth, the real reason Haru wanted to go was because she loved to help others and repair problems. It was why she decided to study robotics and cybernetics in the first place- with the exception of her apparent talent in the field.
At first, many had viewed the cheery but ultimately clumsy brunette to be a bit of a hazard; and it wasn’t exactly a secret to Haru herself either. She could remember constantly stumbling on her impromptu runs to high school after having slept in- or when she once tripped cleaning the trash disposal unit in the classroom and ended up spilling the contents everywhere. But the moment she sat behind the small desk in her bedroom among the clutter of spare parts and tools, her once graceless movements sharpened and Haru would smile as she’d begin to skillfully repair whatever tech the residents of her hometown brought her. So, with the encouragement of Hiromi and Tsuge, she applied for various internships everywhere in Tokyo in the attempt to join someone’s Workshop team.
And it seemed that only one person was willing to give her a chance…
Walking further into the depths of Shibuya Haru gazed in amazement at the 3D holographic displays and looming skyscrapers that was a far cry from her small hometown. The streets were littered with people possessing a variety of enhancements the young woman had only seen before in adverts that managed to be broadcasted back home. Quickly shaking off her awe and hurryingly pulling out her note of directions once more, Haru began the walk away from the train station and towering skyscrapers while weaving her way through the small alleyways, the brunette teenager came to a halt once more on a rather isolated street. Glancing down once more at the paper in her hand, Haru glanced up at the sight before her with a bit of surprise.
“This… is the Bureau?” Haru spoke, looking at the old, neon green sign that flickered slightly with a smaller neon sign saying the Workshop was open beside an open doorway that was partially blocked by a dark noren curtain. Next to what was meant to be the entryway into the shop was a pair of roll-up garage doors- one of which was already lifted up to reveal the illuminated Workshop within. Tools ranging from chisels and wrenches of all sizes to a designated soldering station, making her maple-colored eyes glow with delight.
“If you don’t have any business Chicky, keep walking. This isn’t a museum.” A gruff voice sounded, causing her to jump slightly.
Standing up from beside what, to Haru’s surprise, was an AeroCycle on a hydraulic lift was probably the largest man the young woman had ever seen. He was tall and rather stout with ivory crew-cut hair and a dark stubble about his mouth and chin while dark brown eyes gave her an unimpressed stare as he crossed his arms; with the left being a robotic prosthesis baring a shade reminiscent of a dark coffee. As the man took in her short height, petite frame, and slightly disheveled ponytail; Haru only hoped he didn’t immediately send her back home based on looks alone- after all, she knew her appearance didn’t exactly scream mechanic’.
“Well? Do you have business here or not Chicky?” He asked again, a hint of impatience coloring his tone.
“Sorry sir, my name is Haru Yoshioka… I’m the intern assistant you made the offer to.”
It was here a skeptical eyebrow lifted as his hands soon went to his hips. Haru mentally scrambled for a way to defend her skills should this man end up turning her away, but he only asked one question. “Can you cook?”
“…Yes?” Haru answered, still a little confused.
“Show me; head up there and make something then bring it over. We’ll talk after.” And with that said, the man returned to his work on the AeroCycle without another word.
Haru could only stare with a slightly dumbfounded expression before letting loose a soft sigh and followed his brief and general directions. Up a set of steel stairs lay a large viewing window, which oversaw the garage, and another door that lead into the living quarters that was surprisingly clean; if a bit cluttered. To the left lay a small kitchenette while the right had a simple living room and a corridor that led further into the flat. Turning to the kitchen and figuring not to keep the man who’d likely become her boss waiting, Haru was quick to fix a lunch from a hamburger steak with a fried egg on top and rice (it was either that or one of the instant ramen containers nestled in the pantry) and returned to see the stout man now talking to a customer while gesturing to the AeroCycle. “Next time learn to drive properly bird-brain.”
“And I told you before, lard-ball, it crashed during a chase!” The customer, who was dressed in a police officers’ uniform, snapped in response all the while glaring at the mechanic.
The mechanic merely grinned savagely, as if he was used to the explosive behavior from the officer. “While you were chasing what? A nearby bird.”
“As if you’re one to talk, you over-sized marshmallow. I’m surprised you can even climb the stairs to your flat without them snapping from the strain.”
“You say that again, you big chicken!”
“Umm… excuse me,” Haru spoke up, causing both men to swerve their heads to her immediately. “Is everything alright? I’ve got the lunch ready.”
“Thanks, Chicky, I’ll just take that off your hands.” The larger of the two men spoke, retrieving the succulent smelling meal with a gleam in his eyes, “and congratulations- you pass my test; welcome to The Bureau. The name’s Muta and this idiot here is Bird-Brain, a regular.”
“The name is Officer Toto Tsubame, nice to meet you and please, ignore this fatso.” Toto replied instead, bowing in greeting with a kind smile. “Are you new to the district? You are a bit young to be on your own…”
While Muta was large and hefty, Toto was his complete opposite with a slim frame and long, layered black locks tied into a small ponytail at the nape of his neck; reminding the brunette of a bird’s feathers. His skin was a tad darker than the larger mechanic and his clothes the standard dark navy-blue police uniform with the exception of knee-high shock absorption boots and a black carbon-fiber and titanium woven shirt that rested under the uniform with the cuffs rolled to his elbows. But what truly caught Haru’s attention was the unique dark-grey coloration of his eyes that she had only seen a few times before in holo-books or advertisements. “Oh wow, you have an optical upgrade on your eyes, I’ve never seen that before. That’s really cool…”
Here Toto gave a good-natured laugh, “you’re definitely new to Tokyo if this is your first time seeing something like that, but well spotted. My eyes have been altered with increased monocular vision and can see with UV and Infrared, alongside night vision. Plus, the color is a rather nice aesthetic as well- but that’s enough about me; what brings you here to the city Miss…”
“Haru. Haru Yoshioka, and it’s nice to meet you too.” She smiled, giving a bow of greeting in return. “I am here for an intern job at the Bureau. But, I’m not sure what cooking really has to do with robotics and engineering.”
Muta bit into the hamburger steak and sighed happily as he devoured the plate of food while Toto groaned at the mechanic’s table manners; or lack thereof. “I didn’t want some assistant who couldn’t take care of themselves, I’m not a babysitter. Besides, if you weren’t skilled enough to be here, I wouldn’t have offered you the job in the first place.”
“O-Oh, thank you.” Haru beamed, more than relieved that though he seemed to be rather rough and intimidating, Muta wasn’t that bad- arguing with Toto aside. “I promise I’ll do my best, and thank you for your help Moo-ta.” Haru quickly gasped, raising her hands to her mouth in horror as if attempting to prevent the words from being heard, but it was too late.
“What?! Did you just say Moo? Like I’m some kind of fat cow!”
“No, no, you’re just fat! Oh- um…”
Toto, meanwhile, had lost all pretense of professionalism and started laughing with tears of amusement threatening to spill from his eyes. “Bahahaha! Oh, you’re going to fit in here quite well with nicknames like that Haru. I’m definitely going to be using that one.”
“Yeah, yeah, laugh it up bird-brain.” Muta grumbled, glaring at the still chuckling policeman, “and you Chicky- you got anything to say for yourself or to me, your boss?”
Haru gave a nervous smile, “I’m sorry Muta, it really did slip out. Would you accept an Insta-Pudding with my apology?”
The ivory-haired man stared down at her with an irritated look before sighing, “make it an Angel Cake from Osono’s bakery down the street, and we’re even.”
“Coming right up!” The young woman chimed before quickly making her way toward the aforementioned bakery.
Toto and Muta both watched her leave with the former giving a thoughtful hum, “Yoshioka huh? I don’t suppose she wouldn’t happen to be related to Hayata Yoshioka, would she?”
“His daughter apparently, if you’re that curious. And she’s only a few good years younger than you and me, idiot.” Muta answered, releasing the AeroCycle from the hydraulic lift while wiping the oil and grease from his hands. “I didn’t know he had a kid, and thought the name was just a coincidence till I saw the resume file Haru and her friends sent me. She was apparently fixing Alpha-class mechs at 11 years old.”
Toto gave an impressed whistle, “well, she’s certainly her father’s daughter if that’s the case.”
"I thought that too, but it was the fact that she has no personal cyber-enhancements that really sealed the deal." Muta added, that information causing the slim police officer to splutter in shock. "So I thought ‘why not?’ and decided to give her a shot; and it wasn’t like I was going to turn down the help- so here we are. But the fact that she can cook is a definite bonus.”
“Do you ever not think from your stomach?”
“Shut up, bird-brain!”
Toto sighed, “well, just try to keep an eye on her, alright? Not everything is exactly safe here, so if you ever need anything give me a call.”
“Thanks… you big chicken,” Muta answered before giving a devious grin and holding out his hand. “Now for the repairs, that’ll be 3,500 credits.”
“What?! That’s daylight robbery!”
“Is that so? And here I was giving you the ‘Friends and Family’ discount. But if you would rather pay full-price, who am I to deny you that.”
By the time Haru returned to the Workshop, she could hear Toto and Muta starting to argue once more and was glad she decided to buy two cakes in order to pacify both parties. Though slightly nervous about her new job, Haru couldn't help the feeling of joy at the upcoming work ahead of her.

Get to Know the Blogger
(No, I look nothing like this IRL. This is my Latias gijinka, Yuna Minami. Her Latios twin doesn’t have a 3D model.)
1. name: Nintendraw 2. strange fact about yourself: I’ve installed or repaired two HVAC (Nest control units), one 3-way light switch, and a car bumper. Almost a sink. Where’s my mechanic’s license? (pls don’t give me one lmao) 3. top 3 physical things you find attractive on a person: Why can’t I name non-physical things? Honestly, anatomy classes have desensitized me to this sort of thing, but I suppose pecs, abs, and warm hands are nice in addition to the face. 4. a food you could eat forever and not get bored of: Any Asian-style soup. Pho, Taiwainese, ramen, tom yum, chao (rice porridge), canh (leafy greens + ground pork soup), bun rieu (spicy tomato-/crab-based noodle soup with pork and cabbage), bun thang (rice noodle with shredded egg, chicken, and cha/Viet sausage)... 5. a food you hate: Pineapples (mostly was traumatized by receiving it when it wasn’t expected) 6. guilty pleasure: Romance novels? Also video games or wasting time following whatever rabbit hole. 7. what do you sleep in: tbh, anything not formal wear (or later, gunked with body fluids/pathogens). Usually some shirt and some pants; idc about sleeve/leg length. If I’m tired enough, I’ll sleep in jeans too... 8. serious relationships or flings: Serious only, if only because anything else is likely to get (mis)read by me as friend. 9. if you could go back in the past and change one thing about your life, what would it be: Learn Vietnamese sooner. Get my shiz in gear quicker academically (how Asian). 10. are you an affectionate person: Once I get to know you, or nearly anywhere online? I like to think I’m nice, but have come off as arrogant IRL before... 11. a movie you could watch over and over again: Haven’t watched many movies recently (aka the past up to 3-4 years), but perhaps Dr. Strange. Or Pokemon movies 1 (Mewtwo), 2 (Lugia), or Heroes (Lati@s). Or Star Wars. 12. favorite book: I’ll be hard-pressed to name just one, but some favorites I can quickly recall include Wielding a Red Sword by Piers Anthony (also On a Pale Horse by the same) and Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth Chandler. The latter’s writing miiight not be the best anymore (it’s been years since I read), but some aspects of the main male character stuck with me potently enough to partially inform my oldest OC, himself an angel. 13. you have the opportunity to keep any animal as a pet, what would you choose: If domestic only, Welsh Corgis or (particularly if I could maintain the floof) Pomeranians/Huskies. If exotic are allowed, a red panda or red fox would be pretty neat. Or a tame cuddly dragon, if fictional animals are allowed too. :O 14. top 5 fictional ships: Camus x Nyna (I realize this is in direct conflict with Ree lmao) = Steven x May = Zack x Aerith > Nero x Kirie = Link x Zelda or Geralt x Triss (the last one until I get more in-game interaction with Yennefer) 15. pie or cake: Cake, 100%. 16. favorite scent: Mint, chai, beach/ocean, birthday cake/vanilla... 17. celebrity crush: Tbh, I don’t pay enough attention to celebrities to have one... I suppose I really liked Derek Hough when he first showed up on Dancing with the Stars. 18. if you could travel anywhere, where would you go: Valencia and/or Madrid, Spain (the former for their version of Smithsonian); Akihabara, Japan (0/10 wasn’t allowed to buy otaku last time); Vienna, Austria (music capital of the classical music world imo!!); back to the Smithsonian... 19. introvert or extrovert: Introvert 20. do you scare easily: I can be easily startled... Otherwise, I tend to be pretty unflappable in professional situations where I have some kind of response, even a framework, ahead of time. Unpreparedness is the devil, though. 21. iphone or android: Android 100%. By now, I’m kinda entrenched (whoops); and there’s more freedom of customization (e.g. root, different apps) 22. do you play any video games: Honestly, I’d be surprised if anyone in this group doesn’t XD I own mostly RPG or puzzle games, e.g. Pokemon/Zelda/Fire Emblem, Stella Glow, Radiant Historia, Valkyria Chronicles, etc. 23. dream job: At present? Cutting people open to save them. Dunno whether I like the idea of doing it with cool tech/robots or bare hands better; I am pretty dexterous, but... See Dr. Strange. 24. what would you do with a million dollars: Since Azzie reminded me to invest in something valuable like gold, I’d probably put 70% of the million into that/investments/emergency fund and use the remainder to give my parents a first-class vacation, pay off my loans, give myself a vacation (given the anticipated high stress of my career), and increase my souvenir budget for the next couple trips. 25. fictional characters you hate: Hate is a strong word, but other than the assorted slimeball NPCs you get to hunt down in Witcher 3, most characters I dislike tend to be as a result of being anti-OTP or poorly written. I suppose I dislike the protagonist of The Road, a small group of RPers from previous RPing sites/eras, and Ebony Raven Darkness Dementia Way. (All of those are here because writing style XD) 26. fandom that you used to be part of: Do Devil May Cry and Lucifer count? I come back to them occasionally, but only really engaged in either by watching a Let’s Play and reading fanfics respectively.
tagged by: tagging: Have at it, y’all XD

Robot, Crusher
3D Model by Sean Naden and Kwan Lee.
[Another robot from Rise of the Robots, again commissioned by @justicegundam82. The design gives me a Klingon Bird of Prey vibe.]
Robot, Crusher This green humanoid automaton stands twice as tall as a man, but its clawed arms reach half that length again. Its head is low-slung on its frame, and its legs bend backwards.
Crusher robots are designed to battle and defend, especially against attacks by other robots. Their powerful claws can penetrate the hardness of a robot’s shell, and their long arms can literally hold an enemy at bay while it succumbs to the crushing pressure. Although they are not terribly intelligent, they possess analytic subroutines that can rapidly scan an opponent for weaknesses in order to make especially accurate strikes.
Crusher robots tend to have stand-offish and proud personalities, and they are typically silent unless they feel they have something important to say. Despite this, they will become attached to any creature they defend and observe for an extended period, and may eventually open up to favored charges. Most crusher robots will gladly sacrifice their own life to save that of an ally. They prefer open spaces if they have the option, as their arms are especially long and awkward in close quarters.

It gains an insight bonus on attack and damage rolls against this target equal to ½ its Hit Dice (+5 for a normal crusher robot). This bonus lasts for 5 rounds. A crusher robot can only use analyze weakness against a single target at a time, and cannot use it against the same creature multiple times in a 24 hour period. Awkward Reach (Ex) A crusher robot takes a -4 penalty to all attack and damage rolls against adjacent creatures. EMP Rifle (Ex) As a standard action, a crusher robot can attack with its EMP rifle. Treat this as a ranged touch attack with a range of 150 feet and 10 range increments. This attack deals no damage to living creatures, but deals 4d6 electricity damage against robots. An android or creature qith cybernetic implants takes half damage from this attack. Penetrating Strike (Ex) A crusher robot ignores the first 10 points of damage reduction or hardness when attacking a creature or object.

Septic Android Pt2
Jack yawned. His eyes were crusted and the voices in the room sounded like they were underwater. He cracked his eyes open and rolled to the side to see Henrik at his laptop, Jackieboy, Marvin, Jameson, Chase and Robbie all huddled around him. He must’ve dosed off.
His heart started beating faster. Did he miss an upload? Did Robbie get fixed? Did Anti cause more trouble? Scenarios pummeled his brain. He pushes himself up, pulling the linen blanket around his shoulders.
“Shneep?” He squeaked out. The doctor turned to him and his eyes lightened.
“OH! Jack, you are awake! We were just talking about you-“ he was interrupted by a tap on his shoulder as Jameson pointed to something on the screen. “Ah yes how could I forget?” He fixed something he was working on and turned back.
Jack tipped his head. “Is everything okay? Did I misss anything? What are you working on?” Shneep grinned in excitement.
“Only a gift for you!” His German accent only got thicker in his excitement. Jack was confused.
“Is it a holiday...?” Shneep laughed.
“No it is no holiday! It’s a thank you gift!” The egos surrounding him nodded in confermation.
“A... thank you gift? What did I do?” Shneeps expression became serious.
“When you came in earlier, I realized you were severely sleep deprived. It forced me to consider all you do for zis household. You need more help around here. Whether you’d like to admit it or not. We’re a handful sometimes.”
“All the time.” Jackieboy chimed in. His mask was on his forehead and his nose was bandaged.
Jack couldn’t disagree. Living in such a hectic house WAS getting to him... even though he never liked to admit it in fear that they’d think he was saying he disliked them. “Wait... what kind of gift can help me around the house?”
Jameson chimed in.
*Well, we realized you were hounded with tasks and chores we gave you. So we thought that if we got you something to take care of a good amount of those, you’d be happier and healthier.*
“So!” Robbie chimed in, looking to Henrik for permission to reveal. He nodded. “We’re ordering you an android!”
Jack was washed with confusion. “Wait, hows a phone gonna do chores?”
Robbie giggled. “Not a phone! An android! Like a robot!”
Jacks eyes widened with shock. “You’re getting me an android?! Don’t those cost a fortune?!”
Henrik chuckled proudly. “Please, Jack, I am a world renowned doctor. I can operate on demons and ze undead. I have ze money.”
He turned back to his laptop, leaving Jack to wonder at the idea. An android... he swung his legs over the side of the bed and huddled over between a red bodysuit and a blue vest to catch a glimpse at the laptop.
He gasped. They had already uploaded a set of photos from his Instagram which formed the body and face of the robot. They were making it look like him. Fitting if he was going to be part of the family. The onscreen display showed premium features, speakers, wheels, grappling arms, all hidden under the synthetic flesh like a Swiss Army knife. He could barely count them all.
“Should we make the base color green? Or something else?” The doctors voice snapped Jack out of his trance. He looked at the color gradient, watching the lights of the 3D model change color as the doc slid his mouse around the palette.
“I think I like the original blue. It makes it more soothing looking. And pretty.” Shneep nodded and selected the default.
Jack pulled up the website on his phone while Shneep fine tuned the details. AI Innovation Co... He read through the descriptions of the models. This company seemed to be the most distinguished and respected. They had models made for so many companies... Windows, Apple, Google, Firefox, explorer... even Bing had somehow mustered the money to have one built.
He soon realized this must be where Mark had gotten his robots, which did put him off a bit. Mark had put in a few complaints of his Google model committing different forms of manslaughter. But a quick search through customer help revealed the problem had been solved with the implement of slightly stricter laws of robotics. His wouldn’t have the same glitches.
In fact the longer he browsed his Amazon branded model, Alexa IRL, the more it seemed like the highest praised, most fine tuned robot on the market. There were very few customer reviews considering androids were often considered luxuries for millionaires, but what he read filled him with even more excitement.
‘Excelent model! Was exploring replacements for my Explorer IRL, which was sent with a waterproofing error, and this one is much better! Reliable and durable, the best thing amazon has made besides the website itself!’
‘I was experiencing issues with a stubborn and often disobedient Google model, but as soon as I got this one it was a breath of fresh air! It functions much differently, focusing on commands rather than questions, and is always happy to help!’
‘My first android! So far no problems in the few months I’ve had her! The kids love her, she’s the perfect full time nanny! No more waking up at 4am, she’s like a baby monitor that actually solves the problem! Her administrator set childlocks make sure she never gives the kids too many sweets before bed, and always gets them to sleep on time! 10/10 would recommend!
By the time he was finished, Jack was estatic. It was perfect! Childproofing could come in handy so Anti couldn’t use him for evil... he’d be perfect for fixing Robbies mishaps...
Marvin spoke up, his cape swishing as he turned to Jack. “It says we need voice samples... you could read off a dictionary. But it suggests that if you have any videos of the person being modeled, it can sample from that. Lifesaver. Should we just upload the channel?
Jack nodded. “At this point I’ve probably said most words in the English language.”
Marvin chuckled. “It’s so advanced... it says something about if a word occurs multiplie times, it chooses the tone best fit for the sentence...”
Jack grinned. The concept only exited him more and more!
“And...” Shneep dragged out the word as a loading bar filled. “Done! Does it look good Jack?”
Jack looked. He was so cool looking... he made sure the features were correct... he even had a sewing kit built in for Rob... he was smooth, shiny, and clean cut. He leaned over shneeps shoulders and set the robot clean shaven. It only fit his sleek design. “Perfect!” He loaded it again and added to cart. He chuckled at the banner saying ‘free shipping on orders over $30!’
He looked back at the egos who each nodded in turn. Some were absent. But they wouldn’t mind. He hit order.

My 10 Favourite Games Of 2017
This list was originally posted on the forum Resetera, but I felt like putting it up here too, with a little more insight into why I liked these games so much, and so they don’t get lost in the muddle of forum posts. Enjoy!
10. Snake Pass (Sumo Digital; Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC)

Sumo Digital has been a developer I've admired for years, particularly for their work on the Nintendo-tier kart racer Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Snake Pass is their first independently-produced title, and it has a great hook - the player controls a snake in much the same manner as a real snake might move. There's no jump button, no Earthworm Jim spacesuit, just the power to raise one's head and the strength to grip tightly to any object you've coiled around. There's no timer or enemies; Snake Pass is content to let you explore its levels at your own pace, letting you getting used to its unique feeling and take in the calming David Wise soundtrack. It's a game that feels like learning to ride a bike again, and the progression in ability over time is such a pleasing sensation that it earns it its place on this list by itself. The good use of collectables and generous helping of levels is icing on the cake.
9. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus (MachineGames; PS4, Xbox One, PC)

B.J. Blazkowicz returns and he's lost all meaning of subtlety whilst he's been out of action. Wolfenstein 2 shoots all of its shots - the action is bloody, explosive carnage, and the subject matter isn't satisfied with just skewering Nazi idiocy and narcissism, taking time to shine a light on White America's love affair with sitting back and reaping the rewards of compliance under fascist rule. Whether it's exploring B.J.'s broken psyche, giving Wyatt a crash course on hallucinogenics or putting you under the spotlight in a terrifying audition, MachineGames refuse to pull their punches, each great moment coming swinging like B.J.'s Nazi-reprimanding fireaxe. The combat encounters are far from polished, with stealth being heavily nerfed from The New Order and the half-way shift in tone from borderline-satirical diatribe on mortality and American race relations to comic-book capers is incredibly stodgy, but Wolfenstein 2 leaves a hell of an impression all the same. Shame about that credits music.
8. Gorogoa (Jason Roberts; PC, iOS, Nintendo Switch)

A good puzzle game can make a really strong impression, guiding you subtly by the hand to make you feel like a member of MENSA just for pressing a few buttons or prodding at a screen. With Gorogoa, I can't even begin to describe how the puzzles actually work. Imagine a window segmented with 4 panes of glass, and now imagine you can drag elements out of those panes and into other panes, or over where there isn't a pane to create a new pane... See, it’s hard! In as simple terms as I can muster, it’s a game about taking the world apart and putting it back together again to create paths and progress for your anonymous young hero. It’s intensely abstract, yet the South Asian aesthetic feels like a living locale, an exploration of a boy's days-to-come. It's a short experience, but with each puzzle solved making me feeling smarter than Albert god damn Einstein, it's one that will stick with me for a long time.
7. Splatoon 2 (Nintendo EPD; Nintendo Switch)

Like pretty much everyone, I didn't own a Wii U, but the sting of that decision never really happened until the arrival of Splatoon - Nintendo's first proper new "core" universe since what felt like Pikmin. It instantly looked like sheer fun - and as a big fan of both Jet Set Radio and The World Ends With You, it was clear as day Nintendo's younger designers were picking up the Shibuya fashion torch those games dropped behind them. Put simply, it's totally my shit. Splatoon 2 confirms my suspicions and then some, being the first multiplayer title I've enjoyed online in forever. I can't get enough of the soundtrack, the sound effects, the amazingly catty banter between Pearl and Marina, and just the feeling of dropping into ink, strafing around a sucker and blasting them straight between the eyeballs with my N-ZAP '85. 20% of Switch owners in the US can't be wrong.
6. Yakuza 0 (SEGA; PS4)

The only games I've played previously by SEGA's Toshihiro Nagoshi are the brilliant arcade/Gamecube bangers F-Zero GX and Super Monkey Ball 2, plus his one-off PS3 sci-fi shooter Binary Domain. Loving those 3 wacky games, I always felt a little put-off by his regular gig nowadays being a series about Japan's most decorated crime organisation, and a bare-knuckle brawler at that. Yakuza 0, the 80s-set series prequel that serves as a perfect entry point for series newcomers, proved my suspicions ill-founded. It's a game which instantly casts the majority of the yakuza as control freaks and bullies, pits its protagonists Kiryu and Majima as their unfounded targets and pawns... and then lets you fight your way out of hell via brutal finishing moves, bizarrely complex business management sidequests and, if you're so inclined, a gun shaped like a giant fish. It's that kind of game that always keeps you guessing whether or not you should take it seriously, and so it wins you over with its best-in-class action choreography, astonishingly good direction and a never-ending deluge of sidequests, minigames and challenges. Don't sleep on Kamurocho.
5. Sonic Mania (SEGA/Christian Whitehead/Headcannon/PagodaWest Games; Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC)

If you’re reading this, you probably know I'm a Sonic apologist. I don't really stand by the 3D entries - bar Sonic Generations, which I genuinely love - but the narrative that "Sonic was never good" is some ridiculous meme that I can't stand. They were genuinely fun games, albeit far from perfect; every game can use some improvement. Sonic Mania is that improvement, spinning the level themes and gimmicks from the original Mega Drive (and Mega CD) games into vast new forms, with myraid routes, tons of secrets, an astonishing sense of speed from beginning to end and fairer, more agreeable, more exciting level design. Old locales, new levels - oh, and some new locales as well, one of which (Studiopolis Zone) is an instant classic. 16:9 presentation, all new animations and crazy levels of animation detail, and a mind-blowing soundtrack by Tee Lopes - Sonic Mania is the perfect Sonic game.
4. NieR: Automata (Square Enix/PlatinumGames; PS4, PC)

For my first foray into the sunken mind of Yoko Taro, he couldn't have left a better impression. NieR: Automata uses Platinum's engaging-at-worst, thrilling-at-best melee combat as the language to tell his new story of how pointless it is for anyone to even bother throwing themselves after ideals of society or humanity, and why it's worth trying all the same. Every inch of this game feels crusted in Taro’s sensibilities, with the no-bullshit 2B and her curious whiny partner 9S running into robots waving white flags, avenging fallen comrades, establishing monarchies, throwing themselves to their deaths, and coming to terms with their crumbling existence in apocalypse. It's crushing, it's raw, it's often dull, but its uniquely bleak vision of AIs breaking free of their programming has a grip as powerful as a Terminator's. And when it’s ready to let you go, it has you send it off with the most memorable credits sequence in history. Glory to Yoko Taro, glory to PlatinumGames - glory to mankind.
3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo EPD; Nintendo Switch, Wii U)

Standing in the centre of a bridge connecting Hyrule’s broad, emerald green fields to the desert mountain approach, a bridge overlooking the still Lake Hylia, I fire an arrow into a lizard bastard’s head, or at least I try to. He dodges it and rushes me, forcing me to jump away and retaliate with my claymore. Out for the count, I resume looking for the lost Zora wife I’ve been asked to seek out, who apparently washed all the way downstream in a recent downpour. I can’t see any wife - my entire view is dominated by the giant green dragon snaking across the night sky above me. The wind picks up, but I am too awestruck by its presence to take note that I could glide up to it and shoot off a valuable scale. Instead, I just stand and stare, this utterly unexpected moment happening before my eyes. Friend or foe? A boss monster, perhaps? A vital story element later on? The answer ended up being none of the above: in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, there be dragons, and that fact in and of itself speaks volumes about what this game is about. After 30 years, Hyrule finally feels alive.
2. Night in the Woods (Infinite Fall; PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS)
Very few games instil a genuine emotional response within me, but the story of Mae Borowski's no-fanfare return from college to suburban gloom resonates hard with me. It's an expert at the little touches - the needless-yet-fun triple jump, the not-so-starcrossed rooftop musicians, the impulsive reaction to poke a severed arm with a stick - and woefully precise with its big swings, like an upsetting cross-town party, a wave of violent frustration amongst the townspeople, and the inability to just lay it all on the table with friends and family when you need to most. In the cosmic dreams of shitty teens, Night in the Woods finds an ugly beauty in depression.
1. Super Mario Odyssey (Nintendo EPD; Nintendo Switch)

It’s impossible to deny 2017 has been the year of Nintendo. There’s plenty of celebrate elsewhere, but the Switch’s rise to prominence as the machine to be playing ideally everything on, and the amount of absolute smash hits Nintendo has producing this year makes it hard for the narrative to focus elsewhere. The epitome of all this is their final killer game of 2017: Super Mario Odyssey, the grand return of a more open-ended style of Mario platformer. A true blue achievement in joyous freedom, it brings together everything from Mario's history of 3D platforming - 64's freedom, Sunshine's other-worldliness and sky-high skill ceiling, Galaxy's spectacle, 3D World's razor-sharp platforming challenge - and throws into one big pot, creating a Mario where both the journey and the destination are one and the same, and exciting to the very end. In a year of amazing games that hit upon horrid, upsetting themes with delicate, pinpoint accuracy for tremendous success, I’m not sure whether it’s a shame or an inevitability that such an unapologetically surprising, happy game made the biggest mark on me this year, but either way, I’m welcome to have Mario be truly Super once more.

Portable 3LCD Epson EF-100 Smart Streaming Laser Projector with Android TV at CES 2020 Review

The development of digital technology has provoked a rapid development in the consumer electronics segment. Over the past 10 years, innovation unrecognizably transformed many familiar household devices. Today the market offers robotic vacuums with cleaning schedules, efficient navigation and even the Automatic Dirt Disposal option, coffee machines with automatic preparation of a huge number of different coffee drinks, modular Samsung MicroLED TVs with the ability to change screen size, etc.
Introduction
Of course, projectors occupy a worthy place on this list. Until recently, many considered them only as an element of a home theater. But the development of semiconductor technologies has expanded the capabilities of engineers, allowing them to design mini, pico, pocket projectors with a laser or LED light source. Today the market already offers smartphones with a built-in laser projector and Rif 6 Cube with unprecedented 0.30 lbs (136 g) and 2 x 2 x 1.9 in (5.1 x 5.1 x 4.8 cm), which can form a projection up to 50 inches.

Of course, the segment of full-size powerful Home Theater 4K HDR projectors also continues to actively develop. Their popularity is quite founded. The cost of TVs with a screen size of 75 inches and above remains very high, reaching several thousand dollars. At the same time, even a mid-budget projector with a price of up to $ 1,000 already provides 4K HDR quality on a screen with a diagonal of 100 inches or higher. Of course, companies sometimes indicate a maximum projection size of about 300 inches. But it’s even scary to think how much a projector should cost, which can provide acceptable image quality for such a screen. A range of 100 to 150 inches is more realistic for modern projectors. But even this size radically exceeds the capabilities of TVs, with the exception of modular Samsung MicroLED panels.

Therefore, in recent years, many consider the projector as an alternative to TV. This factor provides good demand and, accordingly, the rapid development of the projector segment.
Laser projectors
As known, the success of semiconductor manufacturers has provoked a new direction in the projector segment. Companies have actively begun to develop projectors with lasers and LEDs as light sources. After a few years, companies offered a huge amount of laser and LEDs projectors. The relatively low price, a huge resource of up to 20,000 hours, silent operation due to the lack of a cooling fan, and compactness ensured them great popularity. Of course, their classification is rather vague. Companies often call these models mini, piko, pocket, or portable projectors. But, of course, this aspect contains a marketing component. With the exception of really miniature models weighing a few lb, most of these projectors are more consistent with the term mini. Probably, many projectors can fit in a large coat pocket, but this is not enough for pocket classification. As a rule, laser models provide a sufficiently high brightness, high image quality, and are well suited for Home Theater. Unfortunately, they have a fairly high price, which can reach several thousand dollars. LEDs projectors are much cheaper, but their brightness usually varies up to several hundred lumens, and the image quality often does not match the level of the Home Theater.
Epson 3LCD technology
All modern projectors use DLP, 3LCD or LCoS imaging technology. Due to the high price, LCoS projectors have a small market share. Today, only JVC and Sony projectors use LCoS technology. JVC calls it D-ILA (Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier), Sony - SXRD (Silicon X-tal Reflective Display). Unfortunately, Sony VPL models cost from $ 2,000 and up.

DLP projectors are very popular due to their relatively low price and high quality. But they have some cons, including the rainbow effect, etc. Today DLP models from BenQ, Optoma, LG, ViewSonic, etc are competing fiercely in the Home Theater segment. But the leaders, for example, Optoma or ViewSonic, offer the entire range of DLP projectors. In addition, AAXA, Miroir, Asus Anker, etc also offer a huge range of laser and LED DLP mini projectors. The situation in the segment of 3LCD projectors is significantly different. As known, 3LCD technology was developed by Seiko Epson Corporation. In early 2012, Epson introduced its first 3LCD 3D home theater projectors. Today the market offers NEC, ViewSonic, Sony, etc 3LCD projectors. But Epson confidently dominates this segment. For example, the very popular Epson 4K HDR 5040 and 5050 series are included in many top lists with the best home theater models of 2019.

In fact, today the main competition is concentrated between Epson 3LCD projectors and DLP models. Traditionally, 3LCDs have a higher price, but provide higher quality. This factor is caused by the objective key features of this technology.
White Light Output (WLO) vs Color Light Output (CLO)
The vast majority of modern devices form color by mixing red, green and blue (RGB). Therefore, each pixel of an LCD monitor uses 3 subpixels. The principle of color formation works as follows: - the maximum brightness of three points provides white color; - the minimum brightness forms a black color; - the maximum brightness of the red and green subpixels gives yellow light, etc. The luminous flux of the projector is traditionally measured in white. Theoretically, the maximum brightness of the projector should be equal to the sum of the color brightness of red, green, and blue. But really, 3LCD and DLP technologies form the color image in different ways. 3LCD technology forms an image using three liquid crystal matrices. The projector divides the white color of the light source into red, green and blue using special filters. Then, each stream is modulated by a corresponding matrix. After that, the three components are combined again, forming a color image on the screen. Accordingly, this technology provides minimal brightness loss. But the 1-chip DLP system uses a color wheel, forming only one color component at a time.
At the same time, color filters block two other colors. Accordingly, color mixing and image formation is carried out already on the screen. Of course, the eye does not perceive the separation of colors over time due to the high frequency. But, this technology has high loss of color brightness due to filtering. As a result, 3LCD and DLP models provide different CLO even with the same WLO. The visualization of this difference is clearly seen in side-by-side comparisons.

Projector brightness
Of course, the brightness of the projector is one of its main specs. In particular, it directly affects the following factors: - color accuracy depends on the projector brightness; - technology for 3D reproducing requires increased brightness to compensate for its losses; - high brightness expands the possibilities of using economical modes of the light source and reduces the requirements for darkening the room to ensure high image contrast. As a result, this parameter has acquired important marketing value. Of course, Epson regularly draws the attention of consumers to this aspect, pointing out in the specs WLO and CLO, which are always the same. In turn, manufacturers of DLP projectors are trying to solve the problem of brightness loss. But today, the use of more expensive 3-chip DLP technology has proven to be the most effective.

Unfortunately, the price of 3-chip DLP models is commensurate with the cost of 3LCD projectors. Many companies use the addition of a white segment to the color wheel. But magnification of the white component worsens other colors, making them darker and faded.

Of course, increasing the power of the light source also effectively solves this problem. But it is effective only for laser or LED projectors, which practically do not heat up. But powerful lasers increase the model price. An increase in lamp power requires efficient cooling and an increase in internal volume for heat dissipation. Unfortunately, the use of a more powerful fan increases the noise level of the device, and an increase in internal volume increases its dimensions. Therefore, many DLP manufacturers prefer to specify only WLO without CLO.
Epson EF-100
Almost every year, Epson offers innovative models. 2020 was no exception. At CES 2020, the company introduced the portable 3LCD Epson EF-100 Smart Streaming Laser Projector with Android TV.

Model has the following main specs: - price about $ 900; - 2,000 lumens of white and color brightness; - 1280 x 800 WXGA native resolution with support up to 1080p (1920 x 1080); - 3-chip 3LCD design without rainbow effect; - innovative Epson MicroLaser Array Projection Technology, based on multi-array laser diode technology, increases the brightness while significantly enhancing the black density; - 9-element lens with seven glass elements; - internal speaker 5.0 W Mono; - 3.5mm stereo output; - Audible Noise 29.0 dB/26.0 dB (eco); - Throw Ratio of 1.06:1; - Digital Zoom and Horizontal & Vertical Digital Keystone; - remote with built-in Google Assistant voice search; - laser light source with service life of 12,000/20,000 (eco) hours; - Android TV wireless dongle included; - size and weight - 3.6 x 8.3 х 9.1 in (9 x 21 x 23 cm) and 6.0 lbs (2.7 kg). The rectangular shape allows the user to position the projector horizontally for projection onto a wall or vertically for projection onto a ceiling. The Android dongle supports popular streaming services, including Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, ESPN, etc. It also supports 4K and can be used with any device with a compatible HDMI connection.
Key features
The Epson EF-100 has become an excellent compromise between price, dimensions and specs. On the other hand, 3.6 x 8.3 x 9.1 in and 6.0 lbs are quite consistent with its classification as a portable model.

For comparison, dimensions and weight of the very popular in this class BenQ HT3550 and Optoma EH412 reach 5 x 15 x 10 in, 9.3 lbs and 4.3 x 12 x 9.5 in, 7.7 lbs, respectively. Moreover, a very successful design with right angles allows the user to install the projector in any position, including vertical for projection onto the ceiling. Digital Zoom and Horizontal & Vertical Digital Keystone further simplify this process. Finally, the internal 5.0W speaker completes the list of pros in terms of its mobility. Specs are also of a high standard. In particular, 2,000 lumens of white and color brightness and 1280 x 800 WXGA native resolution with support up to 1080p (1920 x 1080) are quite suitable for using the model as a Home Theater. In addition, the innovative Epson MicroLaser Array Projection Technology and the great 9-element lens with seven glass elements provide projection with a diagonal of up to 150 inches and WXGA resolution at Throw Distance 2.3 ft - 11.1 ft. For example, the projector projects a 100-inch diagonal image at a distance of 7.6 ft from the screen.

At the same time, high brightness does not require careful dimming of the room. Unfortunately, the model does not have a Lens Shift.
Conclusion
It can be stated that Epson once again met the expectations of its fans. A very successful combination of good specs, relatively low price, and excellent mobility may well allow the projector to claim a place among BestSellers in 2020. In fact, today it has no competitors as a mobile and relatively inexpensive version of the portable Home Cinema projector. However, the year has just begun and most likely other companies will present no less interesting models. This video perfectly illustrates WLO vs CLO in 3LCD and DLP models. Read the full article

Sonic Mania Review
Sonic Mania was the most anticipated Sonic title since Generations due to it not only being in the Classic Sonic style but as well as looking like an old school Genesis game! Is it worth the hype?
Background: Despite the Adventure, Advance, and Rush series, Sonic games that came out since were mediocre to down right atrocious. Things seemed to turn around in the main series with Sonic Unleashed (not counting night time stages) and Colors. The 2.5/3D platforming action proved to be a success and by Sonic's 20th Anniversary came Sonic Generations. This game brought in Classic Sonic along with his gameplay style. Many say it and Colors are the best Post-Adventure games ever.
Then they changed it up in Sonic Lost World and Sonic Boom trying to fix what wasn't broken. Both games did not sell very well and the latter was even considered worse than Sonic 06. Sonic was once again a laughing stock of the video game industry. SEGA did some rebranding the last couple years and they came back with an announcement of 2 new Sonic games. Sonic Forces, which has similar gameplay to Generations with a new gimmick and one that fans been asking for many years, Sonic 4! Well, it's not called Sonic 4 but it's a game that is worthy of that name. This is Sonic Mania!
Sonic fans turned pro Christian Whitehead and his Retro Engine and Stealth to help create a new Genesis styled game. Christian and Stealth previously worked on Android/iPhone ports of Sonic 1, 2 & CD and thanks to their success, were hired to work on this game.
Story: Sonic & Tails return to Angel Island as they sense a big energy reading there. They encounter Dr Eggman (Robotnik's) new line of robots, the Hard Boiled Heavies and they retrieve a mysterious ruby from underground. Then the ruby transports them (and Knuckles who encounters the robots shortly after Sonic and Tails) to Green Hill Zone. I am not sure if they transport to the old zones' timeline or if it's just locations. The storytelling is light since the gameplay is the focus. Like Sonic 3, the story advances within the game.
Graphics/Music:
The direction for the look and sound was to be a lost 32X/Saturn game and they have truly accomplished it! The animated cutscenes at the opening and ending are wonderful. Tyson Heese, who drew Archie's Sonic comics, also penciled these and it looks beautiful! Hyper Potions did the music too for the intro and trailer and is amazing!
The remix zones' look wonderful and even smoother than the Genesis version. The original zones look gorgeous as well! The special stages look like they are from a lost Saturn game. The animations in the characters, objects, and scenery are flawless! The frame rate is perfect and having the game in widescreen really makes a difference as it is easier to see what is in front of you. You can even add a CRT filter to get that nostalgic look of a 90s TV screen!
Generally, the music in the Sonic franchise is top notch and in Mania, it is no different. As with the visuals of the retro zones, the remix of zone's themes are as you remembered it but has more of a kick to it! The new zones sound great too like the jazzy Studiopolis, the western feel of Mirage Saloon, and the peaceful melody of Press Garden! They even released the soundtrack on Vinyl! It's that good!
Gameplay: If you have played the Classic Sonic games, then you'll feel right what home with Sonic Mania! The complaints about the games that tried to copy the classic gameplay style fell short of the Genesis days. (Sonic 4's floating physics, Sonic Rush's boost to win, Sonic Advance's bottomless pits, Sonic Generations scripted speed thru certain sections.) Fear not, all the controls are tight and not only exactly as you remember it, but in my own opinion are more refined. It has a good balance of speed and platforming. Playing the remix of the Genesis Zones while in part, are similar to the old games, feel fresh with new mechanics like in Chemical Plant Zone, bouncing off of colored floors to get to new heights or in Green Hill with the fire shield, can burn some bridges to get to new paths below. The new zones are also among the series' best. Studiopolis is one of my favorites of this game,.
The zones are also non linear so you can take any path you want to get to the end and it is also required to explore if you want to find special rings, hidden items, and shortcuts. Every character plays well thru each zone. The new move, Drop Dash helps keep your momentum of speed and also makes it easier to avoid enemy attacks. Knuckles can smash thru walls that Sonic and Tails can't to find more hidden goodies and shortcuts. What I like about Tails & Knuckles in this game is they can't just glide/fly thru a level with no problem. Yeah, it helps get you thru a bit faster but the game forces you not to take the cheap way out thru the whole experience.
The bosses are some of the series best. Mini bosses return at the end of Act 1. Act 2, you fight a hard boiled heavy, Robotnik, or a surprise challenge. Some of the classic bosses have a new twist as well. For example, the Death Egg Robot showing up at Green Hill Zone throwing bombs and extending it's arms to try and kill you or using Robotnik's machine from Hydro City in Sonic 3 against him.
Extras:
The bonus stages are the blue sphere rounds you can access if your have 25+ rings and hit a checkpoint. Half are straight from Sonic 3 and others are completely new. They aren't required to beat the game or give you the true ending but they give you medals to help unlock extras. I consider myself really good at these in Sonic 3 but some of the newer rounds were still a challenge. If you unlock blue sphere mode, if you play the Mania style, you get two new spheres. One is to teleport you to different parts of the round. A green sphere is like the blue one but you have to run over it twice to turn red.
The new special stages are found throughout the levels as giant rings like in Sonic 3 but the difference is instead of turning blue spheres into red spheres/rings, you have to chase a UFO by running over the blue objects. They fill a speed meter and can go up to Mach 3. Collecting rings increase the time of the stage. The control is a little stiff with the drifting but it isn't impossible though it is easy to bounce off things, fall off course, and run into spikes if you aren't careful. The trick is to find shortcuts and try to collect as many spheres early on.
You can also play the UFO stages via a level select code and extras menu if you need to practice. The good news is if you beat the game without getting all of the Chaos Emeralds, you can go back to your save file and keep the emeralds you have and retrieve the rest in the next run.
Other extras you can unlock are playing Mean Bean Machine, Time Attack, sound test, and debug mode. You can also play in different gameplay styles (2, 3, and CD.) You can also use the insta-sheild and super peel out but like debug mode, you have to select no-save mode. Its unfortunate for the & Knuckles mode but you can have Knuckles as the 2nd player for each player (and that includes Knuckles himself! Make sure you beat the game as Knuckles & Knuckles to get secret ending)
Spoiler After getting all 7 Chaos Emeralds, you can become Super Sonic, Super Tails (though doesn't have Flickies with him this time), and Super Knuckles. If you beat Titanic Monarch as Sonic with 7 Chaos Emeralds, you get to fight Eggman and the main Hard Boiled Heavy fighting over the ruby. You must keep collecting rings to stay alive. You lose rings if you get attacked or do a boost attack. It took me a bit to figure out how to play it but it's not too difficult but it is cool being part of an epic battle. Something about that ruby and the pose Sonic makes at the end of the good ending looks familiar. Hmmmm!
The Positives/Negatives of the Game:
+High replay value with multiple paths, collecting chaos emeralds, unlocking extras, and playing as all 3 characters +Very tight controls with great balance of speed and platforming +New moves like the drop dash are a welcome addition +Old zones feel new again with never before seen sections and challenges +New zones feel right at home with the classic era. Some of the series best +Music as always is top notch. +The majority of the bosses are some of the best of the classic era +The Easter Eggs +Blue Spheres and Mean Bean Machine are back +Sprite cutscenes and the Opening/Closing Animations are gorgeous
=Oil Ocean is one of my least favorite zones of the classic eras and would have preferred if they chose a different zone but the remix is an excellent rendition of it. =Wish there were more in game cut scenes between zones than what we got but what we got was wonderful. =I was happy with the amount of new zones we got and their quality but I wish there were one or two new zones. Oh well, maybe next game we can get more new zones.
-You still fall for some cheap deaths. Thankfully there aren't many bottomless pits like in certain Sonic games but it's very easy to get crushed to death (chemical plant and titanic monarch are the ones where it happened often for me) -While I liked the challenge of the special stages, I felt the controls should feel a bit tighter when turning. -Some of the bosses were tough to figure out how to beat. Some of it was rewarding when i did find a way to defeat them. There were a couple I had to look at let's play vids to figure it out. Like in Sonic & Knuckles, playing as Knux was difficult fighting against the bosses thanks to the height of his jumps.
Closing Thoughts:
Even the negative points of the game didn't really bother me that much and in no way, tarnish the quality of the experience. Some fans even claim that it is the best Sonic game to date! I am not sure if I agree with that but I do like it more than Sonic CD which was my #2 favorite Sonic game of all time and can understand why some fans place it #1! Whether you are a die hard Sonic fan, a causal player, or a noob, this is the game for you! I have really enjoyed this game and will come back and replay it as often as I can!
Sonic Mania gets 4 3/4 STARS out of 5! (9.5 out of 10 for those that score in 10s. A- that like letter grades.) See you next game!
