Discovering the Magic of 'The Owl House': A New Era of Animated Series
Tumblr media
In recent years, we've seen a new era of animated series emerge, challenging the traditional notions of what a children's cartoon should be. Shows like "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "Gravity Falls" have proven that animated storytelling can be just as rich, complex, and emotionally resonant as any live-action series. And now, we can add another show to that list: "The Owl House."
Created by Dana Terrace, "The Owl House" follows the adventures of Luz, a young girl who finds herself transported to a magical world where she discovers that she has the ability to perform magic. She befriends a rebellious witch named Eda and a tiny demon named King, and together they go on all sorts of fantastical adventures, while also battling the evil forces that threaten their world.
At first glance, "The Owl House" may seem like just another wacky animated series. But as you start to delve deeper into the show's world and characters, you quickly realize that there's so much more going on here. For starters, the show has a wonderfully diverse cast of characters, with representation that goes beyond just tokenism. Luz herself is a Latina girl, and her identity and culture are woven seamlessly into the show's fabric. The show also features characters with disabilities and characters from different socio-economic backgrounds, making it a refreshing change from the usual whitewashed, able-bodied, middle-class world of most children's animation.
But beyond just its diverse cast, "The Owl House" is also notable for its complex and nuanced storytelling. The show deals with themes of identity, self-acceptance, and the power of community, all while balancing its fantastical elements with real-world issues. The show is unafraid to tackle topics like prejudice, discrimination, and even authoritarianism, all in a way that's accessible to younger viewers without talking down to them.
What's particularly impressive about "The Owl House" is how it manages to balance its darker themes with a sense of humor and whimsy. The show is full of wacky creatures, pun-filled jokes, and hilarious one-liners, all delivered with impeccable timing by the show's talented voice cast. And yet, even in the midst of all the silliness, there's always a sense of heart and sincerity that shines through.
Of course, none of this would matter if the animation itself wasn't top-notch, and thankfully, "The Owl House" delivers in that regard as well. The show's art style is distinctive and eye-catching, with a bold use of color and a penchant for surreal imagery. The animation is smooth and expressive, bringing the show's characters and world to life in a way that's truly captivating.
In short, "The Owl House" is a truly special animated series, one that's breaking new ground in terms of representation, storytelling, and artistic vision. It's a show that's not afraid to take risks, to tackle difficult topics, and to embrace the full range of human emotion. And most importantly, it's a show that's resonating with viewers of all ages, proving once again that animation can be just as powerful and meaningful as any other form of storytelling.

yesknopemaybe replied to your post: Why do you feel like youre asexual? Maybe you just have really high standards and havent met the right guy/girl yet. ;)
Its a lot condescending. Yikes. Its analogous to telling a gay man that he just hasnt met the right woman yet.

That was more then just a little condescending. Also I would like to point out that Asexuality means you have no sexual desire. An Asexual person can be in a relationship without sex if they want, or they wont, if they want. People are all different.

Small jumps shouldn't hurt (like little hops), but if he is still young (under 3 years) he shouldn't be jumping any real jumps, not sure what you jump him over though so just a warning. His bones aren't fully developed and he can hurt his growth and cause issues in the future. This is for any dog. I have seen basset hounds compete in agility before, but they are usually on the lowest jumping height due to their size and length when they have reached adult age.
Ah yeah :O
I haven’t had him jump over things, just up onto his hind legs to reach for a treat. His hind legs never leave the ground (excluding falling on his bum today)
I’m not sure if that sort of jumping would be equally problematic? Regardless, I think I still might avoid it with him, if only out of concern of him falling like that again
