I just got back into the whole anti harem stuff for undertale, and I have an idea

What if instead of the angst stuff, it's y/n is the best friend of the skeletons crush.

Their best friend (who's actually nice to y/n) tells the skellies that y/n is aroace (representation matters), and later down the line the skellies turn obsessive to both the best friend and y/n (romantically and platonically respectively)

That is definitely something I haven’t seen before, and it’s a very intriguing concept! As an Ace girly myself, I don’t see a lot of ace MC’s, but to be fair— I haven’t written one myself either! Aro’s seem to be even more uncommon, unfortunately :(

It would definitely be a more cutesy story, at least at the start— and would probably have a lot less miscommunications between characters lol. (And the characters would actually get along—)

I myself love the drama and the angst, just as much, if not more then I love the fluff. Hurt/Comfort and Enemies To Lovers is my absolute jam. Miscommunication is like crack to me— I love the angst. All of my fics have varying levels of angst that range from mild peril to character death. Every single one of my characters has major issues :\ (I am not nice to them 😔)

Will they eventually get their happy endings? Absolutely! But I’m gonna put them through hell before then! ;P

So while that’s not the direction my story will be going, I’d absolutely love to read one with that concept!! The yandere/obsession trope isn’t something I’m typically a fan of, but I’ve been trying to broaden my horizon’s recently. Both in what I read, and what I write.

It’s another piece for the Shroud brothers! I already did a piece inspired by Undertale, so it’s fitting that I finally do one inspired by FNAF. I really enjoy doing pixel art and it was cool to mash up the bedroom from FNAF 4 with Idia/Ortho’s room from STYX. Of course, it’s not a Idia/Ortho piece if it doesn’t have sad undertones…one day I’ll draw them so happy to make up for it.

Also, sorry it’s been awhile! I was recovering from my recent surgery so I’ve been taking it slow. Hopefully by the end of next week my updates will be back to my usual, but we shall see 🤷‍♀️

SUMMARY

During one of their visits to the Dark World, Kris and Susie find that two humans had mysteriously appeared from seemingly nowhere. Unsure of what else to do, Kris beings them back to Hometown to figure out who they are, where they came from, and more importantly, why they were covered in dust. With nowhere else to go, the two are essentially adopted into the Dreemurr family until they can figure out how to get back home.

When does the comic upload?

Ideally, every Friday …. But you know… Life can get in the way sometimes!

When does Fractured take place?

The beginning of this comic begins after the events of Deltarune chapter 3, and eventually branches off into it's own route.

How does controlling the KFC gang work?

At the beginning of this AU, Kris is controlled by one player while Frisk and Chara are controlled by another. The connection to these two players are eventually lost/corrupted leaving the three open to any and all players (you, the readers) to take control or influence their actions. The words you comment on posts, the questions you ask, and the answers you give in polls can impact what happens in the story. Not everything will have an influence but it will always have a chance to. Occasionally, players will be in control of the actions of characters for a limited amount of time. How this works is certain pages will be captioned with who you are controlling and instructions you need to follow. Players will submit what they would like said character to do through asks and I will pick a handful that will occur until they are disconnected from you (I do tend to get quite a bit of submissions so I will not be able to use all of them, please understand that).

How will you know what has influenced the story?

I will respond directly stating that it will have an impact. Most of the time I will state how it will influence the story, however, I do want to keep some things secret occasionally.

How do the players communicate to Kris, Frisk and Chara?

Players are able to communicate to them primarily through any screen such as a tv, computer, phone, ect. On occasion they can communicate to them via ominous voices inside their heads. Otherwise, players can not directly interact with their world and will not have a physical appearance. I should also add that only the KFC gang and V are able to see or hear the players' messages. No one else is able to.

RULES FOR ASKS & INFLUENCING THE STORY

In this AU, Frisk and Chara are 12 while Kris is 17. THEY ARE ALL NONBINARY so anything inappropriate, rude, or offensive will be deleted immediately.

I’m trying to stay as canon as possible, however, if your ask includes fangames or other AU’s (ex: Undertale Red and Yellow) I will try to work it into the story if I can. I’m not very knowledgeable about other AU’s but I’m willing to at least try.

Considering that I’m basically running both an ask blog and uploading a comic, I may not be able to answer right away. Please be patient with me, I’m doing my best over here…

Update: it would appear that DR!monsters are in fact incapable of magic as they are in UT…in the “Light World.”

After Chapter 2, Noelle mentions wishing she could use healing magic to get Rudy out of the hospital, which implies that they can’t outside of the Dark World.

It would seem their physiology is otherwise the same, which I can assume based on what the one kid in Hometown has to ask Kris (asking them about blood and bones).

And before anyone tells me about the unused “Susie bleeding” sprite, let me just say that it’s probably unused for a reason.

I noticed a subtle difference between Undertale and Deltarune that could further separate the two universes.

Do DR!monsters not use magic? Their physiology is still the same (or at least similar), considering they don’t have blood, but it’s entirely possible that they don’t use magic in their everyday lives like UT!monsters.

Or if my food theory is anything to go off of, maybe it’s just Toriel because she lives with Kris.

like so many fan comics are just posted randomly, which, fair, but you’ve been doing this for yeeears, and not with multiple comics, but just this singular one! idk exactly how long unexpected guests has been going for, but I’ve personally been following for about 5ish years now, and there was already a good chunk of comic I was able to catch up on at the time! the dedication is insane!

and you do this all FOR FREE??? like, that’s crazy?? this is probably one of my favorite pieces of undertale media, and it feels illegal that it’s free smh

oh yeah, I've mentioned in the past that when i was first planning how to make unexpected guests as a comic, i knew I'd need a posting schedule just for my own sake. I procrastinate a lot, even on things i like doing, and a regular deadline has (usually) helped me stay on top of things, while also giving my readers an 'anchor' so that yeah, they're not left wondering when the next update will be. I'd seen how that affects other comics, and knew i wanted to avoid it if i could. The first page was posted March 2nd, 2017, and somehow, I'm still at it??? I'm surprised too :'D

And yeah, it's all just because i had a story i wanted to share, and had the time and skill to do it in comic form. I really do appreciate when people deign to give me money over it, that's their hard earned cash they're handing over for pictures of silly skeletons. But I'd be doing it anyway because it's more fun sharing pictures of silly skeletons with other people.

And yeah, sometimes I'm busy, or my brain won't cooperate with me for one reason or another, and that means the comic gets put to the wayside a little. I don't think there's a single artist this doesn't happen to. But i really appreciate that for every impatient or entitled person that comes along, there's many more people who are understanding and offer their rebuttals and support. I have waaaay more positive messages like this one hoarded in my inbox than I've ever had negative, haha.

(Sorry for any typos and grammar mistakes. I’m at a film festival.) —— Forgot to post this but scrapped coloring and face angle practice cuz for a few days I forgot how to draw slightly downward faces. This marks week 2 of non stop drawing but I’ll be stopping for a couple days because of finals (with an exception of a few doodles to at least be consistent)

I enjoy drawing with the pencil brush on THE NOTES APP so I tried to do something with a similar texture here. I don’t really know what I’m doing. I reached the limit of layers which I didn’t even know had a limit?

Funny how back in middle school I tried really hard to get back into art because of undertale and undertale AUs. Kinda stopped “trying to get better” when I was out of my UT phase and in high school. Now I’m back in my UT phase during college and once again, trying to get better at art (especially anatomy but the process is SOOO LONGGG)

watch me forget how to draw again… the reason for my inconsistent style. One day I’m good at drawing a certain way and then the next I’m not, so I try another style. One day I’ll learn to be consistent with one style. After that, I hope I can be consistent with all styles since important to know how to draw in different ways.

Anyways, that’s my update for today. I hope to get multiple animatics done this summer if possible (since it’s another motivation for me to learn how to draw) never thought I would be this active on tumblr, but the it’s one of the few places where I’m comfortable posting ALL my drawings… even the ones I don’t like

Agh sorry I keep forgetting to check tumblr. My brain is not here. I have a few asks about Soulfell so I’ll put them here too!

So as far as Soulfell goes I’m afraid I definitely lost steam, had art block, lost the hyperfixation, was moving, and ultimately I just couldn’t make myself work on it anymore.

That said, I did a poll a little while back to see if people wanted to know how it was gonna end and the plot I had planned and stuff. The consensus was yes!

With such a weight off my shoulders I immediately,… did nothing about it LNDKDKGJLFNDKD

But I do plan on doing a write up. I just have to organize my gibberish notes and make it all a little easier to read. I also had aspirations to do the animatics I had planned, and I might still try now that my life has calmed down a bit, but for now the only new Soulfell content will be the summary/plot I release at a later date.

Im rly sorry because I desperately wanted to finish it, I had big plans, and I didn’t want to drop yet another project, but as it took years and years to get through even the first act, I started to really feel the drag of it. I still haven’t fully remembered how to just draw for the sake of something that isn’t a Big Project. I ended up making big (less big) projects for my current hyper fixation too and I’m so bad at small project. KNDKGNGKDN

Ghost Switch's 7th Birthday.

2017 was 8 years ago. I don't like that math. 2018 was 7 years ago, which is slightly more acceptable to me because 8+5=13, and 6.5 is half of 13, and if you round 6.5 up you get 7, but 7+5=12, and 8 is 2/3s of 12 which is more than half of 12 and that is gross because 12x12 is literally gross. (The 5 came from the end of 2025, if you were wondering)

You still with me? Good, because I have some thoughts about the last seven years I've been working on Ghost Switch under the cut.

Ive always had a weird way of contextualizing the passage of time, keeping track of significant or personal events in my life, be they places, or memorable occasions, tying them together in a mental spider web mad of thumbtacks of monumental dates and connected with the red string of my special interests at the time. It's always so insidious, how fast time passes, even though you're there for each moment. It's always so shocking how fast the days and weeks and months add up and suddenly a decade or two have passed.

Ghost switch turns 7 years old in 2 days. 8, that ugly number, if I count the full year of preproduction I spent planning and scripting the outlining and drafting. It's not quite a decade yet, but when it comes to webcomic longevity, it's damn impressive. Homestuck ran for 7 years, from 2009 to 2016. I was reading active updates for 5 of them. My webcomic will never reach the page length or word count of homestuck (thank god), but ghost switch will have actively been updating longer than homestuck has when it finally finishes. In three more years, i'll be able to add Ghost Switch to the list of "webcomic longrunners" on Tv tropes. (Special shout out to the dedicated soul(s) who update Ghost Switch's Tv tropes page, 'cause lord knows I haven't touched the thing after I made it.)

I cant help but compare myself to other Undertale fan comics that I've read and loved and followed. Not as competition or as a standard to live up to, but merely for curiosity's sake. The UnderlineAU by Dustyart and ifellforundertale, Caretaker of the Ruins by eruto, minty and ellipsis, flavor-text-chara by stemmmm, Unexpected Guests by undertalethingems, zombietale (zombie-frisk) by spooks, unofficial-underfell by comicpixel01, and that-one-underfell-comic by blueberryjamsart just to name a few.

And not just the other undertale comics as well. From time to time I find myself revisiting some discontinued deviantart comics from the early 00's like Wurr by Paperiapina, Off-White by Akreon and tanathe/vesner, Over The Mountains And Far Away by Skailla, and The Blackblood Alliance by KayFedewa. All of these stories from other people also doing it for fun and for free the melancholy I feel when they quietly tapper off or go in indefinite hiatus. It's strange to revisit their pages some times, snapshots of the past, perfectly preserved, same as they were when I last saw them update live, like the next page link could update any second.

Granted, not every webcomic started by starry-eyed teens inevitably ends up as unfinished. There are plenty of webcomics that I've followed for years that are also still going to this day. Africa by Arven92, Golden Shrike by Doeprince, Up And Ahead/No North (also by Skailla!), Oren's Forge by Teagan Gavet, and Tofauti Sawa by ThCynicalHound are some notable examples.

It's equal parts empowering and sad to see how many comics i've outlasted, outlived. It's just as humbling to be reminded how many are still going. I've been doing this for 7 years now. If my freakish estimation skills prove true, I'll be doing this for another 5. At time of writing, I am 32 years old. When I finish, I could very well be 38. Even if I decided to quit the comic today, this is by far the longest time I've dedicated to any one art project, one story, one single piece of fan art. Ive spent close to a fifth of my life (20 percent!) working on this comic, always thinking about it at the back of my mind. If it does take me 12 years to finish, that will be almost a whole third. I cant wait to finish. I cant wait to never draw another comic page as long as I live. I cant wait to get back to writing fan fiction and learning other artsy things like crocheting and quilting plush making, woodworking, metal working, stained glass making, all the hands on creating I can think of. Am I finally tired of undertale? No, as I've just said, i've still got a shit ton of fan fiction I gotta finish before I can say "I'm done with you." The hyper fixation has slowly released its grip, though. Enough so that I was able to start exploring other media to get unhealthily obsessed with this year (mostly in the form of anime.)

Undertale turns 10 years old this year, and can you fucking believe the birthday lands on a monday this year? I don't know if I'm going to do anything special for the anniversary like I have in years past. I'll probably just upload a page like normal and not much else.

It's strange to think that a baby was undoubtedly born the day i started this comic, and now they're probably old enough to read and comprehend it if they found it this very day. I don't look forward to the day when I finish, and a grown-ass adult comments on the last page saying; "Loved your story! Ive been reading since middle school and yesterday I graduated with my masters degree!"

Time needs to stop. And not, like, freeze. Just like… Stop. Doing that thing… Passing and changing us subtly and irreversibly without our consent or awareness until years have passed and we suddenly realize we've become different people, all tangentially tied together through this shared connection that is this webcomic I've become unhealthily dedicated to. This comic could very well see 4 different presidents in office across 5 election cycles before it's done. 5 more years… Half a decade more. "You have a true red soul of determination if you kept up the comic for this long!" Maybe. The sunk cost fallacy, the fear of death before finishing, fear of disappointing readers, and an all around general attitude of spite and stubbornness are strong incentives to finish though.

I wish I could say I'm over the hill at this point, but technically I'm not. Yes, I'm half way through but there's no gravity assistance to help roll me down the rest of the way. Comic making is more like mountain climbing. Yeah, I'm half way up, but there's still quite a lot of "up" left to go. The air is getting thinner, and I'm starting to tire, but it's shorter to the summit than to the base at this point. Might as well keep going. I still want to see the view from the top, and marvel at how far I've gone~

Happy 1st Anniversary Undertale Yellow!

This game was amazing. I never thought I would ever see a Fan Game this good to ever come across me.

I didn't follow the games update cycle as I was kinda unaware of it's presence for a while. But when I heard a release date was close, I decided to follow this game in it's final year.

Honestly, I believe that was for the best. Having a completely blind playthrough (Aside from the ruins, which didn't really affect my experience.) felt wonderful.

Seeing all the characters for the first time, made me want to know more about them. Seeing them learn, grow, & develop without knowing them before hand, probably made me more attached to them than if I knew them previously.

The ending...

I mentioned seeing these characters grow, it was so sad seeing all of them knowing that the human that they've grown so attached to have to sacrifice themselves. To give Justice to the monsters being unfairly trapped underground. To give Justice to the fallen humans so their deaths wouldn't be in vain. To give one last chance for another human to hopefully obtain a better ending... so that Clover's mission, could finally be completed.

Thank you, Team UTY. You really created something special in my eyes.
