It would be typical, wouldn’t it? First they set in motion the chain of events that ultimately wrecks things for legitimate users, then they break the site completely :(

AFAIK I have a fairly low-maintenance theme, and it was fine yesterday morning. But, that said, it’s Tumblr so who knows? I mean, this could well just be a “normal” Tumblr glitch, though the timing feels suspicious.
