-often cold, quiet and somewhat mean at first appearances, Georgette is very intelligent and often wants to get the job done with no distractions. She prefers to work by herself as she doesn’t want anyone to “slow her down” if they can’t keep up. This is due to Georgette’s insane perfectionism as she believes anyone else can’t meet what she considers a “job completed” is someone who gets in her way

-People who know her well enough though, say she’s very caring towards them. She is concerned for those she cares for, and loves spending time with those people. How you know she likes you if she lets you exist in the same space as her

-somewhat closed off, she doesn’t like to talk about her childhood, especially her mother. She doesn’t really like to talk about herself either

-She considers herself to be very independent, preferring to take solo missions. This often puts her in arguments with Philip as he is protective over her, due to how she was mainly targeted by their mother as a child. She loves her older brother but sometimes finds him suffocating

-she does have trust issues, which is why she seems so cold and distant at first

Backstory-

-born on November 20th, 1767 in the St.John manor, Georgette was born with the last name St.John until she ran from home and took her real father’s last name of Chevrolet

-Georgette only really had Philip and some of the servants that were nice to her growing up. Estelle and Gerard often neglected the Georgette and her brother, opting to pay more attention to Adam. Georgette was unaware at the time, that it was because she and Philip were deemed as “illegitimate”

-The only time Estelle interacted with her daughter was to “train” her into a “perfect wife” ever since she was a child. Young Georgette often blamed herself for when she couldn’t meet her mother’s impossible standards. Estelle would often abuse her mentally and physically if she didn’t, only claiming to love her if she followed her orders

-this gave Georgette her perfectionism :(

-her relationship with her step-father wasn’t that much better either. He never hit her but often neglected her as a child as she didn’t know that he wasn’t her father until much later in her life

-she was a very shy child and had few friends her age due to her mother isolating her. The only friend she briefly had was a maid’s son named Paul Lacroix. She and Paul would often have to keep their friendship secret and often played in a secret room in the attic. Paul promised to keep his mouth shut as Estelle didn’t want her children associating with “the lower class” and Georgette would be punished. Unfortunately, Estelle stumbled upon them and tricked Georgette into thinking Paul blabbed, turning her against her only friend. She wouldn’t see Paul again until they were adults

-at sixteen years old, Georgette and Philip were at a party hosted by their mother. She announced that her eldest two children were getting married to their fiancés after “long and wonderful courtships!”. This was the first time Georgette met her fiancé, Henri DuPont, the heir to a wine fortune. He was much older and very controlling. Once Philip and Georgette learned they were to be secretly married to their fiancé’s immediately right after the party, a move by Estelle so they couldn’t plan an escape, they managed to escape during the party. Estelle didn’t realize they had escaped until the end of the party

-Philip and Georgette ran away to Paris. Georgette found work as a washerwoman and a seamstress. Philip was hired in construction due to his strength. They lived in the attic of a boarding house with several other people. Georgette came back from work one day to find Bellec rummaging through one of her roommate’s things. She mistook Bellec for a mercenary sent by her mother to hunt down she and Philip. She put up a fight, but Bellec quickly got the upper hand. Philip soon arrived and almost beat Bellec to a pulp, but the assassin escaped

-Georgette’s first brush with the unfairness of the law came when a soldier tried to hit on her. She rejected his advances and when he got too handsy, Georgette slapped him and managed to fight him off, humiliating him. The next day she was almost arrested for trumped up charges of prostitution and theft, brought upon by the emasculated soldier. Philip was there with her and tried to fight the soldier, but was shot in the process. The two were then saved by three assassins. Siblings Rosalind and Alexander Fournier, and Pierre Bellec

-the creed moved Georgette and her brother, as both felt they were never given a choice due to their controlling mother. So they felt inspired to join the brotherhood. They took the last name of Chevrolet, having learned that their real father had that surname and was a butcher from their step-father. So as one last act of defiance against their mother, Georgette and Philip took the last name of Chevrolet

-Georgette was mainly trained by Rosalind Fournier and partially Sophie Trenet. She grew particularly close to Sophie Trenet, finding her an admirable character. Georgette raised through the ranks quickly and was eventually forced to train an assassin that came from Giverny, Lionel Poussin. Georgette found Lionel irritating, as he had a reputation as a flirt, who can use his “silver tongue” to get whatever he wants. She considered him a slacker-type and annoying, as he kept on flirting with her during their first mission

-Georgette and Lionel’s first mission was to destroy a fraudulent apothecary in The Court Of Miracles, and kill the man who ran it, Laurent Moreau. Lionel recklessly killed Laurent in broad daylight before Georgette could get into the apothecary, drawing unnecessary attention. She was ambushed in the middle of trying to burn down the place of business and injured during the fight. Lionel managed to save her but she passed out soon after, due to a concussion and exposure to unknown chemicals. It was this fiasco that soured Georgette’s opinion of Lionel even more, despite how charming he was to everyone else

-Then when the Revolution broke out, she was forced to keep watch over a new novice, Arno Dorian. She found Arno arrogant but a lot more capable than Lionel, yet she wouldn’t admit that Lionel had charmed his way into her heart as well

Wait, Zhao Yunlan's gun is actually a...?!

(I've never claimed production meta for @guardianbingo before, but after the amount of time and research I put in on this, I feel like I've earned the "Zhao Yunlan's Gun or Whip" square, haha)

SO. GUYS.

Maybe this is something fandom as a whole figured out back in 2018, but I, who didn't hear of Guardian until 2020, did not realize until now and I need to share the knowledge because when I finally noticed, I made an unholy sound.

I've tracked down where Zhao Yunlan's gun came from -- or at least, what it most likely started as. Not the in-universe dark-energy-maybe-uses-bullets-maybe-doesn't-device-that's-best-not-thought-about-too-long, but rather the actual fake-steampunk-revolver-that-is-best-not-looked-at-too-long-because-it's-awful prop.

Y'know, this disaster:

I was actually working on a different Guardian Bingo fill and needed to look something up for continuity, so I'd flipped through a couple of episodes at super high speed trying to find a scene. As luck would have it, one of my skips forward happened to land on the scene I screencapped above, when ZYL confronts Zhang Shi.

Normally we don't get this clear (or this stationary) a shot of the godawful gun prop. I'd assumed all along they had just taken a plastic gun, glued some extra bits and bobs on it to make it look fancy, and hit it with some dry brushing (fun fact: you can watch the paint flake throughout the series; check out the top of the barrel and the side of the cylinder in the above screenshot!) to make it look #steampunk like the abandoned aesthetic of 25% of the show (as I've said before, I have theories about what happened in preproduction, but that's another post). This sort of thing is exactly what I've done for cheap cosplay weapons or background props for film work that aren't going to be seen at HD detail range.

Anyway, since the detail showed up better here than in other shots, I paused the video to look at the random screws and hex bolts (why??) they'd glued on it, since I recalled that I had the aforementioned gun/whip bingo square to fill.

That's when I noticed a detail that had eluded me before: An inverted V shape at the bottom of the grip.

Only looking more closely, that's not an inverted V. It's a symbol that I've seen a whole series of variations of over the past 15+ years... every time there's a new installment of the Assassin's Creed video game series:

So I started hunting. The principal weapons in each game turned up no matches, but eventually I found a gun that looks almost exactly like ZYL's:

It's not a perfect replica, but the details are certainly all there: The stylized logo; the leaves and swirls on the grip; the feathers up the back; even the Victorian scrollwork beneath the barrel.

Now, what's really interesting is that this gun isn't actually from the AC game series. It's part of an elaborate fan project by artist David Paget that started as a class assignment back in 2014. Even though it gathered a bit of steam in the AC fandom and generated a couple of forum role-play groups, OCs and the like, nothing about this artwork was ever connected to a real Assassin's Creed title. So why would there be a physical version of a gun that was only someone's fanart?

This is where the smoking gun (*rimshot*) goes missing, because I can't prove any of this, and it's been long enough that digging through the archives of the internet to find answers is going to take way more time than I can afford to spend on a project I'm not getting paid for. But there are two likely possibilities:

Scenario A: Some employee in a toy factory somewhere in China got told, "This Assassin's Creed franchise is really big, so we need to be producing replicas from those games to sell. Work up some designs." So the employee Googles "assassin's creed gun," finds David Paget's very professional-looking art, and whips up a replica to mass-injection-mold without realizing it's not actually from a game. Later, someone on the cash-strapped Guardian production team needs a gun to mod, and finds a cheap toy revolver on clearance after several years of sitting in storage because there was little demand for a replica of a gun that was never in a game. They buy several, glue hex bolts on the cylinder for reasons unknown, and poof! Instant pseudo-steampunk!

Scenario B: Other fans were involved in the design. Someone did build a 3D model of David Paget's design that's still available on Sketchfab (screenshot below), and it's not unreasonable to assume that other fans could have thought it looked cool and built 3D printable models. Later, someone on the cash-strapped Guardian production team needs a gun to mod, and acquires the 3D print file of one of those models from the interwebs. They mod the file a bit, print some, glue hex bolts on the cylinder for reasons unknown, and poof! Instant pseudo-steampunk!

Personally, I find Scenario A far more likely than Scenario B, for two reasons: First, the hero prop looks more injection molded than 3D printed, especially given the technical state of 3D printing back in 2017-8. And second... Budget-challenged dramas do have a history of picking up bulk video game replicas and using them as cheap props. I made a post back in 2019 about the WoW Horde shields we spotted in a different drama...

Anyway, no firm answers about the source of the hero prop -- the world may never know! -- but we have now confirmed that in some alternate universe (possibly one of the first eighty?), Zhao Yunlan and/or Zhao Xinci is an Assassin.

Wait, wait, wait... *recalls mechanics of how the whole Assassin's Creed frame story is supposed to work* Uh... so... who wants to write a genetic memory explanation for the whole Kunlun -> [lots of lifetimes] -> Zhao Yunlan thing?

(I did actually check the catalogue of a friend of mine who makes replicas of props from various media franchises to see if he'd done a commission of the David Paget design, since a surprising number of his custom pieces actually do end up on film and television, but while he has a gorgeous replica of a revolver that actually appears in an AC game, it appears he has not done the Zhao Yunlan gun. I didn't really think it likely, since he's in the U.S., but you never know.)

The one most on my mind lately is an old Dragon Age character that I brought over to the Forgotten Realms and DnDified her for a CoS campaign, and am now writing her a bg3 fanfic as this game consumes my life lol

Personality:

No way to sugar coat this: she’s a snarky little shit. Any time someone tells her to do something her first instinct is to do the opposite and she gives little heed to any authority figure. She doesnt suffer the bullshit or the superficial and while she mostly keeps a passive aggressive silence, when the risk seems manageable she calls it how she sees it. Due to her time spent in the emotion-numbing Shadowfell, she often struggles to manager her emotions, which are often running wilder than shes used to. Feeling things so strongly is still new and she often lashes out or erupts with the emotions she keeps bottled up, which often enrages people. She could care less how much most people like her and holds little loyalty to any who havent earned it. Having grown up around selfish immortal vampires all too eager to use and abuse, her loyalty is hard earned but a valuable prize. In Barovia, every day was lived with the knowledge that it could be the last, and its with this mindset she still lives. The material plane is a dazzling place of colors, sounds and sensation unlike anything shes experienced and is determined to experience it all before she dies. Shes of a cynical mind often but also a bit of a reckless one. Eager to climb buildings of staggering heights, drown her depression in drink or games, or take her chances with a dangerous killer who thinks they have the upper hand… until they notice the blade shes already stuck them with. But shes also committed to free will. She never tells people what to do. She’ll tell them what she thinks but she’ll never give them a direct “this is what you should do’ which can be frustrating for some but she really deeply believes in never infringing on peoples decisions. For her a persons free will is one of the most precious things and its one of the things shes seen taken away most often.

Aesthetic:

Eryns aesthetic is very Roguecore and Victorian-esc. Assassins Creed always comes to mind. Dark leather and shining daggers. Long coats and hooded figures. Raven feathers and grey mist. Glittering stars and half healed scars. A smug grin behind bloodied lips. Breathless awe at a rooftop view. The vigilante biting the hand that chokes them.

Favorite Thing About Her:

Right this moment? (cause it changes daily lol) Just her commitment to not being beholden to other peoples expectations and living in the moment. As someone who exhausts themselves daily caring about everything so much I envy people who can just not care about things. She's just so present in everything and doesnt let herself get tied down by what everyone thinks she should be doing or thinking. She just does what she feels is right and lets people think what they want about it. If people are mad "Well that was your fault for trusting me!"

Fun Facts:

Eryn’s a phantom rogue who gained her powers from a deal she made with the Raven Queen. Even thought this subclass isn’t in the game itself I intend to integrate those abilities into the fanfic which is gonna be fun

As a child of Shar, Eryn actually has a brother. A lesser known piece of Forgotten Realms lore confirms that Shar actually had a son at some point; the demi-god named Mask. According to lore he was killed and absorbed by Shar but is predicted to return at some point in the future. We just don’t know when or how…

Because Eryn is a native of a domain of dread in the Shadowfell known as Barovia, her soul is actually over 500 years old, having been trapped there being reincarnated over and over again. She has no memory of any of her past lives but occasionally gets flashes of memory through weird out of context dreams.

Personality-

-Lionel is a very sociable, laid-back and friendly person. Due to his good looks, he has a bit of a reputation as a flirt and a womanizer. Despite this, many find him easy to talk to and joke around with. He often uses his “silver tongue” to get what he wants, thus leaving many broken hearts behind him. Yet he himself has had his heart played with a few times, thus making him a reluctant to really give his heart to someone

-Lionel is a very observant person (besides the eagle vision) so he can read people pretty well, which gives him a leg up as an assassin. Along with his fighting skills, speed, and marksmanship, makes him an effective assassin, despite his occasional recklessness

-Lionel also is a bit of a gossip due to partying a lot as a teen (instead of training like he was supposed to). He knows a lot about society and societal figures thanks to his experience, yet this also brought some unfavorable characters in his life that he regrets

-It may not seem like he cares outwardly, but if he finds you his friend, he is pretty much ride or die. Hiding the body? He’ll help. Getting rid of your ex? He’ll do it for free. Need a drinking buddy? He’s down. Need a shoulder to cry on? He’ll let you cry as long as you need. However, Lionel does abide by a strong sense of morals, so if you cross those morals, you’re kind of dead to him

-Lionel is drawn to people who interest him, people that he could learn about, as according to him he likes to “people watch”. This includes Georgette, who despite being pretty much his opposite, finds her very interesting

Backstory-

(TW:mentions of child abuse, manipulation and implied abuse)

-born to a young single mother named Opal Poussin on March 13th, 1768, Lionel grew up in relative comfort in Giverny. Opal had been taken in by a wealthy friend named Remy Gaspard when she fell pregnant. She never told Remy who the father of her son was.

-Remy Gaspard was a member of the brotherhood and he recruited Opal, who gladly accepted. It was there she met another novice, Charles Dorian, who also had a son the same age as Lionel. It was through his mother that Lionel became friends with Charles’s son, Arno Dorian. The two boys were inseparable until Charles was murdered and Arno was taken in by Grandmaster De La Serre. Lionel wouldn’t see Arno again until they were adults, when Arno joined the brotherhood.

-Lionel wanted to follow in his mother’s footsteps to join the brotherhood, but slowly came more rebellious as he got older, thus leading him to ditch training. This strained his relationship with his mother somewhat. His teenage years were a learning period for him, for better or worse. He got into a lot of trouble but also found out a lot about himself growing up. Like around fifteen years old, he realized he was pansexual when he had a crush on one of his male friends. He hid his orientation from his mother but had several flings, many of them with much older men and women, who manipulated him most of the time

-Opal didn’t find out about her son’s orientation until he was barely seventeen, when he stumbled home beaten and bruised. He had snuck out to a party where one of the older men he had seen briefly beat him after Lionel broke it off. Lionel broke down and told his mother everything, coming out to her. Opal accepted her son for who he was, who he was attracted to, and told him what he had happened to him was never his fault. This was the moment where Lionel and Opal’s relationship started to mend. He spent a lot more time with his mother, learning fast in the ways of the brotherhood, affectively staying out of trouble

-Yet Lionel still had a reputation as a bit of a smartass and somewhat reckless. This annoyed many of the assassins in Giverny as Lionel was still good at his job, he was just very unpredictable. This was around the time Opal had retired early from the brotherhood, having faced conflict with the assassin council, particularly Bellec’s fanatical views. She aired her worries that Bellec could go too far but the council didn’t listen. Still, she believed it would do some good for her son to send him to Paris, for the experience to learn under other people than her

-Lionel was paired with Georgette as his “tutor” once he got to Paris and he quickly tested her patience only on their first mission. He didn’t mean for Georgette to be injured and wanted to make it up to her, but she was less than eager. Yet he also finds her pretty and a person he deems “interesting”

The full canvas option can get a bit abstract. Basically, you just sit and talk with me about your character/s, their aesthetics, occupation, their lore, specific poses or concepts you want and then I go ham on the canvas

It will always include some level of shading and lighting & some level of background, whether it is a literal setting or a decorated/abstract background

The base price is 70$. I can draw the same character 3 times, and it will still be 70$ (as shown in the first example). However, if you'd like to add another character (as shown in the second example), it will be +10$, just as it is with the Full Body Character option.

pls range your OC in the order from most to least self insert!!!! unironically (I think all characters bear traces of their authors, and for me it's one of the things that makes reading truly interesting)

First thing: I have soooooo much infinished works.

Well... Similarities... That's depends from any OC! Because mostly they are get only the shards of my personality. For example, Lessara is an insecurity of my past self.

So I try to range them by 3 parameters: 1) feelings & emotions 2) shards of my past self

So let's start since (2)

1. And the closest to that would be... my VtM Tremer OC. She's doing her best, but I need to play more to finish something about her. She seems cold and full of disguise of the 00's LA, but she definitely needs that city and vampires around her (not the LaCroix!).

2. My unwritten fiction about Hanje Zoe x OC is about my hedonism. (Also most spontaneous and self-made comfort character)

3. The next would be my Assassins cCeed Syndicate OC — Marcie. Violently involved into the London's, the city prostituting thousand of girls and women. She is between rage, desperation and the last sparkle of hope to the women like her.

4. Into the AC Syndicate that's Aisha. She is truly a wlw power, smartass and stable self-esteem.

5. Next of my Victorian assassin creed girls would be Sally. With a help of women around her she copes her almost started addiction. Circus didn't pick her up (little thief girl still clowning around, but she's charming some way)

6. And the most "unlike me" is a character from my work in progress — Lakshul. The magic gifted girl from my first matriarchy setting. I'm judging her too much, but right now she just wants to find out anything new about ancient artifacts for the priestess from her village.

Now let's return to the (1) feelings

1. My romantasy OC. She represents the most analytical stuff in my head.

2. My another romantasy OC (same setting, another time period, post apocalyptic magic world). Cynical about people around her. She would like to calculate any risks, but she's homeless beggar, who adapted to this dangerous world.

3. That's a Sharussa. Unwritten enough to post too much about her. A local healer, serving to the local trading princess family, involved into "historians will say they were just friends" relationships with an eldest daughter of the prosperous during the past years family. But that's only the beginning of her dedication to what's she's truly believes after the knife slithers her throat

4. My Katherine. She represents in me... something reclaiming her own past. But now, during the ao3 work timeline she doesn't understands it.

5. My compassionate girl, a not the fully sunshine who knows too much about people around her (yes, she looks like Lationo girl from aesthetics below). She always chooses mercy above loyalty to the lords and other nobles, which represents her love interest.

6. My vampire OC. Not the same LA of VtM but definitely 00's. She is a rage and desperation.

7. My romantasy "sister-in-law" OC. She repressed most "unlikable" parts of herself, unacceptable for the noble woman. But actually she needs to confess to herself: she's a girlboss in nutshell. Sometimes yes, "gaslight gatekeep" girlboss without not a fully power and the laws which trying to keep a noble women from the real power until their brothers are alive.

Speaking about my matriarchy settings I'm definitely have a type: the head of the family. She is most not like me. But you can rely on her, my weak clumsy boy. She represents something stable in me

Born in 1830, the very year of the July Monarchy and the incredibly political tension in her country and her family. Aimée, despite being descendent of an Absolutist Monarchy Family, had her father and mother being much more alliegned with a Constitutional Monarchy, which made them eventually become allies to the French and Austrian Brotherhoods of Assassins.

Born and raised in Eu, Normandy. She was kept away from the chaos of the court most of her life. Receiving the best education her father could provide, she grew up to be a refined, eloquent and clever young woman. A lover of the arts and it's many forms.

The years spent among the Tenents would make her shape her world views to one closer to the Assassins, however, she never truly accepted or approved her husband and daughter's role in this. For she always lived afraid of loosing them in this secret war.
