Disclaimer: this note will talk a bit about Moonbin, his passing a grief. Please stop reading if you need to (:

I have been wanting to make a gifset for Astro since I started listening to them in October of 2022. They happen to be one of the few groups I can pinpoint an approximate date I became a fan. All Night was the truest starting point.

I can’t say that that means I’ve been a fan very long. I spent a few months diving into their discography and my friends & I did a joint cupsleeve event for him & Seungkwan, but since Moonbin’s passing, I have yet to listen to Astro’s group music again. It’s a certain feeling of grief. While he lives on through the art left behind, it fills me with a lot of emotion that I haven’t quite found a place for yet. That said, Story is a song that helped me through that time and, overall, is a song I find a bit comforting on the topic of loss, grief, and distance.

If there’s something to remember about Moonbin, I would say it’s his smile. That for all his name implies, his memory, to me, is one very much like the sun. As the bias of one of my closest friends, I find that Moonbin lives on and is remembered through Aroha, too. I hope he is at peace and I hope everyone can find peace, too.

I wish nothing but the very best for Astro—Rocky included. I wonder a lot of what the future holds for the group, but whatever it may hold, I hope it is kind to them. I hope it holds everything they need it to. I hope there can be bright days and laughter on the road ahead of them. I hope they can look back and remember and miss, but still look forward and run ahead.

Moonbin—I did not “know” you long, but it was a enough to know how bright and brilliant you shined. Thank you for the art you shared and the impact you made, big or small, on the people here. I hope you are at peace and resting well; I am nothing but grateful for finding Astro when I did. Thank you for being a part of that.

i don’t think you realize how much this hurts me. i remember seeing seunghan announced as an sm rookie in 2022. the content he made with nct put a smile a face. i was excited to see him debut in nct. obviously he, sungtaro, and eunseok would then debut in riize.

i was there when riize opened all their social media accounts. it officially was his time. seeing how he performed brought a huge smile on my face. when all the “scandals” happened, i truly couldn’t believe that k-netz were making a big deal over them.

when he was put on hiatus, my heart broke. he apologized for having a life. i and many others waited for his return. we watched riize release songs without him. we saw sm erase him from siren’s digital release.

we waited when we saw the subtle signs he could be coming back. many people thought sm was just playing with us. we waited 10 months for his come back. we saw what others were saying and doing, but we didn’t worrry. everything was going to be okay.

obviously it’s not. sm couldn’t do their job of protecting seunghan when all of his private pictures and videos were released. they didn’t protect him when he was on hiatus, and they clearly didn’t protect after his announced return.

the members were happy. seeing their faces (mainly sohee’s adorable smile) when they were promoting the upcoming performance which was supposed seunghan’s first in 10 months, was obvious to me that they wanted him back.

how come no k-fans were putting up funeral wreaths for the criminal in sm??? why the 21 who did nothing wrong??? i know the ot6 fans are SO happy right now. they’re happy that they had enough power to convince seunghan and sm that he wasn’t loved.

it’s the complete opposite… i wish he saw all the support he was getting. he was so loved that during his hiatus briize were putting in their own money for fan projects.

riize is supposed to be a global group. the people i saw protesting his return were the korean fans. did sm not see their followers and streams increase since the first announcement??? of course not cuz they only care are their local audience.

if sm actually did their job to protect him in the first place, none of this would’ve happened.

we just witnessed a 21 year stop his dreams because people can’t let go of the fact that their idols won’t date them. we won’t get to see him shine on the the stage anymore. the stage was where he belonged.

i have never been this hurt over a member departure. i was there when jieun left purki. i witnessed rocky, my astro bias, leave. but seunghan? i’m completely torn apart. i’ve been crying since i found out.

seunghan, i’m so sorry that you feel that you’re not loved. i bet you and the other members were excited to come back. i wish i could be there to tell you. if you ever decide to come back to the industry or live a private life, just know that i will support you no matter what…

i was curious about your decision to reopen the universe of in the place full of lies. did you end pt 1 with the intention of writing more works in the universe, or did something inspire you to reopen their story?

hi!! i actually wanted to continue it because i still don’t have a mingi fic out, and i also think that although san’s story with that y/n does not need to be rehashed, mingi’s story needs to be expanded on. i also find it a fun challenge to add dimension to the bunker crew and make them slightly more likeable (maybe not redeemable though) while remaining in character with their motives and what was said of them. also!!! the purple flag situation was an intentional open end bc i definitely wanted to revisit this world. there’s SOOO much that can be expanded on in this universe and i’m always thinking of different ideas. the itpfl series isn’t even the first thing to come out of this universe honestly (it was an mj/eunwoo ot6 focused astro fic hahah) and that got my mind reeling on different dynamics occurring in this particular post apocalyptic setting
