Tumblr media
Delegates have until May to book their places
The Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) has released more dates for its new BCM01-BCM06 training courses, which are available throughout the year at various locations.
Engineers and technicians who are interested in upskilling their building controls knowledge can now book onto BCM01-BCM03 for the rest of the year, while those looking to book BCM04-06 can secure their places up to May 2018.
Delegates who successfully complete the BCM01-03 courses will be awarded the Technical Certificate which will enable engineers to apply for the brand-new Building Controls Integrator ECS card.
Engineers who complete the BCM04-06 courses will be presented with the Advanced Technical Certificate. The qualification provides an opportunity to prove to clients and employers their full understanding of the six building controls subjects which cover Fundamentals of HVAC & Building Technology, Measuring & Control Technology, Hydraulics in Building Systems, Control Function in Heating Plant, Control of Ventilation and Air Conditioning Plant and Control of Cooling Systems.
All six of the courses are CPD accredited by CIBSE.

Some training also includes APA Continuing Education credit which many psychologists need to maintain their license to practice.  There are many topics that could count towards this credit.  Biofeedback happens to be one of them.  The number of hours required for BCIA (Biofeedback Certification International Alliance) certification is 36 for Neurofeedback (A specialty area of biofeedback or EEG Biofeedback) and 42 hours for Biofeedback, otherwise known as peripheral biofeedback.

Inspiring Minds Want to Know
"At the end of the day, I knew that she loved me and cared about me, and she made me feel like I mattered. She is a mother figure to me."  - Tiffany
One major rule in the field of counseling is centered around confidentiality. What is talked about in therapy stays in therapy. Well Girlz B Sweet was very fortunate to land an interview with a reputable Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who specializes in the area of Neurofeedback. Neurofeedback is "a science of cognitive training designed to treat chronic psychological conditions for long-term, successful outcomes. Brainwaves form unique patterns providing us with information about underlying issues; neurofeedback allows us to adjust that pattern in order to improve conditions such as anxiety, depression, sleep, focus and ADD/ADHD", as defined on her website.
Tiffany Cagle-Schrift is the operator and owner of A Brighter Mind, PLLC, where she provides therapy for her clients. She is 1 of only 3 in North Carolina's Piedmont Triad Region who is Board Certified in Neurofeedback from The Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA). Tiffany's qualifications and success is built on hard work, dedication, and resilience. She is originally from Carthage, MS (just north of Jackson, MS), and currently resides in Winston Salem, NC with her husband and 3 dogs - 2 French bull dogs and 1 pug puppy. For fun, she enjoys traveling in the camper with her husband and 3 dogs. She also enjoys hiking and photography and learning about new cultures.
Girlz B Sweet asked Tiffany how she got to where she is today. She first sought out education beyond the K-12 system, earning her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master's Degree in Community Counseling from Regent University. She stated that she had always been interested in science, a field in which women are under-represented. During her last two years of high school, she was privileged to be able to attend the competitive Mississippi School for Math and Science.
During the interview, Tiffany began to reflect on the reason why she chose the field of counseling. Her early experiences of facing tough times inspired her to want to help others get through their own tough times. Her childhood love of science linked her to an interest in neurofeedback because of its scientific roots. "People need more alternatives in the mental health field. Not many counselors will specialize in neurofeedback because it’s very science based." Not only does she focus on the specialized therapy but continues to integrate the basis of counseling, which is maintaining good relationships with clients. She loves the challenge of learning neurofeedback because it is a growing field, and it feeds her love for learning, as well.
Inspiring minds want to know who inspired Tiffany, a very well-trained professional, as a girl. "A family friend - Evon. She was always there for me when family stuff wasn’t going well. She would always listen to me. would do small things for me, and Mrs. Evon helped me purchase my first computer for college."
Her inspiration today comes from her wonderful, loving husband. "He is smart and wise and always there to help me with the things that I’m not so great at. He cares about what I do, and he knows I’m passionate about what I do." Her husband is an architect and uses his skills to help her achieve to greater heights in her industry. "He's good at interior design, and he created a homey and welcoming office environment. He encourages me to keep doing what I’m doing." Now that's the power of agape love!
The community has been very supportive of the growth of A Brighter Mind, PLLC. With one office in Lexington, NC and now a newer location in Winston Salem, NC, growing a different clientele is often a challenge. "I’ve been so thankful to so many people. People have been so great about meeting with me." Through email solicitation, the community has been very responsive. For example, a counseling professor at Wake Forest has been supportive in helping Tiffany find new clients. "People have been really gracious."
To girls who need extra motivation to achieve, Tiffany's message is simple. "Even if it seems impossible, keep trying. Find that silver lining. Keep moving forward even if it seems like it isn’t going anywhere. Find your own way even if it doesn’t look like someone else’s. Have the courage to keep moving even when you’re scared."
Tiffany shared this lasting impression with Girlz B Sweet: "I am thankful for the many people who have been like parents to me. Thankful for the time that they took to invest in me."
