When it comes to hygiene, it's one of those things that Eddie's either 100% on top of or not at all. There is no in-between though Edward definitely started struggling with keeping himself clean after the events of Arkham City. He wasn't exactly fresh during that whole episode but in all fairness it was Arkham City - water was only avaliable a few hours a day and good luck hoping there was enough electricity to run a proper shower!

After that, Edward began spiralling. Cleanliness became less important, too obsessed with the idea of exacting his revenge upon Batman for daring to humiliate him so. He got dirtier, swapping the suit and hat for cargo pants and plain shirt since they were only going to get torn up and filthy anyway. You better believe there were periods that Eddie didn't wash. At all. Not until the filth and grease from nights of working endlessly became too much even for him. He was prone to sweating a lot too from his increasing dependence on adderall and how hot and difficult the work could be, creating his deathtraps and courses and, just kind of... forgot showers existed in the end. You know Eddie's going through a bad spell when he's looking grimy/shabby. He loves looking fresh and clean-cut, donning the fancy suits and iconic get up to let others know he is the Riddler but Arkham Knight was definitely when he was at his nastiest.
