Translation for the Off the Hook page of Splatoon 3 Ikasu Art Book
[Squid & Octo Supernova Unit]
A unit consisting of the wicked-tongue rapper and champion of chaos Pearl, and the ditzy and dependable Marina, who loves nothing else in the world more than Pearl, heavy machinery and shoujo manga. They are the ones responsible for the Final Fest held in July of 2019 Mollusc Era that caused the "chaos boom" sweeping over the world. Currently, they are in the midst of a world tour accompanied by the band Damp Socks.
[The One and Only Genius Rapper]
“A world tour? No way, we’re taking this thing to outer SPACE!” is what Pearl suddenly declared before throwing herself into creating a new outfit themed after an space suit. The end result was a haute couture garment made by the hands of a world-renowned designer, and threaded with an abundance of valuable materials that can withstand the vacuum of space. The manufacturing costs ended up totaling to 200 million geso, leading some to call it “a huge waste of money.”
[Sharp-Minded and Girlish DJ]
An Octoling maiden who finds happiness in constantly being swept up by the behavior of the ever free-spirited Pearl. All the while progressing with musical composition for the new frontier that is Damp Socks feat. Off the Hook, she is capable of also managing other affairs in tandem with complete perfection. These include coordinating the overall direction of the world tour, booking the venues, development of ticket sales systems, and lunch box preparation.

April 20, Beijing, China, National Museum of China/中国国家博物馆 (Part 5 – Ancient Chinese Porcelain exhibition/中国古代瓷器展):
First post of the year, gotta start with something good: this is a rather famous vase from Qianlong era of Qing dynasty (1644 - 1911). It's made in the suantouping/蒜头瓶 (lit. "garlic-head vase") shape, and decorated with falangcai/珐琅彩 (basically cloisonné but done on porcelain instead of metal). The design features a nice combination of traditional Chinese chanzhihua/缠枝花 motifs (traditionally this continuous plant motif symbolizes longevity) and European art influence, specifically from rococo. This is interesting as rococo was also influenced by Chinese porcelain, making this vase another example of cultural influence going both ways.

As mentioned in my previous announcement post, my visit to the National Museum of China was very brief, everything took place in the span of one day (plus traveling to and from Beijing), please pardon the picture quality.
And from here on I will be going in chronological order. Below is an urn from the Northern Dynasties (439 - 581 AD). This urn was decorated with lotus petals all around, and was specifically a type of grave good, not made to be used by the living. Lotuses are a commonly used symbol in funerary rites due to its association with Sukhavati (Sanskrit: सुखावती; referred to as "极乐世界" or "Land of Bliss" in Chinese) in Mahayana Buddhism.

Another urn, this time from the Sui dynasty (581 - 618 AD) Shouzhou kiln/寿州窑. This urn may also have been grave good, as evidenced by the numerous Buddhist symbols all around.

In the middle is a Tang dynasty (618 - 907 AD) pitcher, made by the Lushan kiln/鲁山窑. This pitcher displays Lushan wares' characteristic blueish glaze, where the blue comes from different concentrations of iron oxides.

Left: a Northern Song dynasty (960 - 1127) white-glazed wine vessel called a meiping/梅瓶 (lit. "plum vase"), but in Song dynasty it was called a jingping/经瓶.
Middle: a Northern Song era white-glazed Ding ware/定窑 plate decorated with the double fish motif.
Right: this one is pretty cute, it's a container for weiqi/围棋 pieces that's shaped like a drum, made by Yaozhou kiln/耀州窑.



Left: forgot to take a picture of the placard, but my guess is that it's a bamboo-necked celadon-glazed Longquan ware/龙泉窑 vase (I might be wrong).
Right: a small Southern Song dynasty (1127 - 1279) Ge ware/哥窑 bixi/笔洗. Bixi are containers used to rinse traditional brushes. This bixi has the crackled glaze that's characteristic of Ge wares.


Left: a small haitang/海棠 flower-shaped celadon-glazed lidded container box called a taohe/套盒, made by Southern Song dynasty guan kiln/官窑 (guan/官 means "official", so "guan kiln" is best understood as the kiln that's run by the imperial court; this is important as later dynasties may have their own guan kilns). These containers can hold various small objects including food, and are stackable.
Right: a Song-era haitang-shaped rose purple flower pot, made by Jun kiln/钧窑. Jun wares are known for their glaze colors, which shift and change according to the firing temperature, this is known as yaobian/窑变 (aka kiln transmutation or "flambé"). This particular flower pot became part of Qing imperial court's collection later on.


A Yuan dynasty (1206 - 1368) qinghua/青花 ("blue and white") porcelain pot, decorated with dragons. The blue color in the famous qinghua porcelain comes from cobalt blue pigment in the underglaze.

Two Ming dynasty (1368 - 1644) tall-footed bowls, the left one has a glaze known as "sweet white glaze" (甜白釉), since this shade of white was likened to the white of crystal sugar; the reign mark indicated that it was made during the Yongle era of Ming dynasty. The bowl on the right has the peacock blue glaze (孔雀蓝釉), and the reign mark indicated that it was made during the Xuande era of Ming dynasty. Reign marks are markings that indicate the dynasty and era during which a piece was made.

A side note on era names or nianhao/年号: nianhao was a way of identifying years in imperial China and was usually decided by the reigning emperor at the time. One emperor may have multiple era names during their reign if they so choose, however since Ming and Qing dynasty mostly have just one era name per emperor, Ming and Qing emperors are often referred to simply by the era name they used, for example Yongle Emperor (temple name Emperor Chengzu of Ming) or Qianlong Emperor (temple name Emperor Gaozong of Qing). Depending on the context, usage of a Ming or Qing era name may refer to the time period during which an emperor reigned, the emperor who used the era name, or even both.
Three Ming-era monochrome (called danseyou/单色釉 in Chinese) porcelain plates. Monochrome porcelain became popular in Song dynasty, and has been popular ever since, but overall three dynasties were the most famous for their production of monochrome porcelain: Song dynasty, Ming dynasty, and Qing dynasty (1644 - 1911). Recently monochrome porcelain has been gaining popularity again, since their vibrant colors fit into modern aesthetics surprisingly well.

A set of wares that may be found in a study, made in the Kangxi era of Qing dynasty (1662 - 1722). The glaze used here is quite famous, called jiangdouhong/豇豆红 (aka cowpea red), created by applying copper red glaze in high temperatures. The end result is notoriously hard to control, so some pieces may turn out to have multiple colors, mostly the shade of red as seen below and apple green. The left and back pieces are both small decorative vases (for the longest time I thought the one on the left was an upside-down bowl......lol), the small box in the front is a seal paste box, and the flat bowl on the right is a bixi.

Left: red and blue yaobian vase, made during the Yongzheng era of Qing dynasty (1723 - 1735); unfortunately due to the angle here, you can only see a little bit of the blue streak running down the front. The colors are so vibrant here that this kind of yaobian has earned the nickname of "flaming red"/火焰红.
Right: a langyaohong/���窑红 (also called "sang de boeuf" or "oxblood") vase, made during the Kangxi era of Qing dynasty. Langyaohong glaze is known for its deeply red color, hence the names that relate it to blood.

I didn't have time to take a picture of the placard so it literally took hours of pulling my hair out reverse image searching to find out when (which era) this vase was made................. (btw the text in the back refers to the painting in the background, not this vase)

Left: a youlihong/釉里红 vessel that's shaped like an apple, so it's quite literally named a pingguozun/苹果尊. This shape is rather unique to the Kangxi era. Youlihong (lit: "red inside glaze") is basically a red copper oxide underglaze.

Right: a larger vase made in the Yongzheng era that combines qinghua underglaze and youlihong underglaze in one piece.

This giant qinghua vase from the Qianlong era of Qing dynasty (1736 - 1795) was made in the shape of Shang and Zhou dynasty ancient bronze ritual vessel named gu/觚. This is also one of the few pieces produced in history that had the name of the potter attached to it. The potter who made this vase was Tang Ying/唐英, and he was the superintendent who oversaw imperial porcelain production in Jingdezhen/景德镇 (basically the Ming and Qing dynasty guan kiln) during the Yongzheng era and the Qianlong era. Together with the Kangxi era, these three Qing dynasty eras are collectively called "清三代", or "the three Qing generations (of emperors)", this was the second height of porcelain making in Chinese history after the "five great kilns"/"五大窑" of Song dynasty.

A column shaped openwork fencai/粉彩 incense holder from Qianlong era, where fencai is basically overglaze enamel decoration that falls under famille rose.

Left: a Qianlong era green fencai vase that feature kaiguang/开光, which were window or panel-like designs on the piece where scenes may be painted. This particular vase also displays poetry by Qianlong Emperor himself.
Middle: a fencai shuanglianping/双联瓶 made during the Jiaqing era of Qing dynasty (1796 - 1820). Shuanglianping are conjoined vases that symbolize the coming together of matching talents or generally good things.
Right: a Qianlong era gourd-shaped doucai/斗彩 vase with kaiguang. Doucai combines both underglaze decorations and overglaze decorations.

I want to draw special attention to this leaf-shaped fencai cup in the middle that was made in the Guangxu era of Qing dynasty (1875 - 1908). The "leaf" part is actually a lotus flower, but the cool thing about it is that the green stem part is a built-in straw, so this is a highly decorative porcelain straw cup. I really do hope there are cheaper modern replicas of this cup sold somewhere, I want one

Finally, to wrap up this exhibition, here's an arrangement to show how these different porcelain pieces would be utilized in a traditional study room.

WU SHI TAIJI QUAN
The several sections below describe its characteristics of posture and movement, use of intention and issuing of power, skill building and health cultivation:
(一)姿勢
1. Posture
太極拳之姿勢甚夥,(詳見圖)總合之有五行,八卦之分,是謂十三勢。何謂五行?進退顧盻停是也。何謂八卦?掤捋擠按採挒肘靠是也。以上十三種之姿勢,為學太極拳者所必經之途徑。使吾人逐日演習之,不稍間斷。則若干年後,歷練旣深,拳術中之精奧,自能闡發無遺,而獲益匪淺。
Taiji Boxing’s postures are very numerous (as the photos reveal), but they always conform to the five elements and eight trigrams, which form the thirteen dynamics. What is meant by the “five elements”? The steps of advancing, retreating, stepping to the left, stepping to the right, and staying in the center. What is meant by the “eight trigrams”? The techniques of warding off, rolling back, pressing, pushing, plucking, rending, elbowing, and bumping. These thirteen kinds of postural dynamics have to be understood by students of Taiji Boxing. Let us practice every day without ever skipping a day. Then after several years of experience, we will naturally come to fully comprehend all the subtleties within the art, and the benefits will not be meager.
(二)動作
2. Movement
太極拳之動作,須慢而匀。蓋外家拳術,雖見速效,而流弊滋甚。若太極拳,則以活動筋骨為主。故一切運動,以柔和為上。惟其慢,始能柔;惟其匀,始能和。且各種動作,俱成圜形。而一圜之中,虛實變化生焉。其無窮之奧妙,即在此虛實變化之中。初學者或未能知;習之旣久,則得心應手,趣味無窮。旣足以舒展筋骨,又能調和血氣,可謂身心兼修,最合於發達體育之道者。
Taiji Boxing’s movements are slow and even. External styles of boxing arts may seem to produce quick results, but there are so many bad habits that come with them. In the case of Taiji Boxing, the emphasis is on the liveliness of the muscles and bones, therefore the most important qualities in every movement are softness and mildness. If it is done slowly, then it can be soft. If it is done evenly, then it can be mild.
Furthermore, the various movements all have a round shape, for it is within a circle that the transformations of emptiness and fullness are generated. The art’s limitless subtleties lie within these changes of emptiness and fullness. A beginner may not yet be able to understand this, but if you practice for a long time, you will perform with the proficiency you imagine, and your fascination for what you are doing will have no end.
This art is sufficient for the task of developing the physique, but it is also able to regulate the temperament. Thus it can be said to cultivate both body and mind, and is therefore the most appropriate method of promoting physical education.
(三)用意
3. Using Intention
太極拳練習時,純任自然,不尚用力用氣,而尚用意。用力則笨,用氣則滯。是故沉氣鬆力為要。氣沉則吸呼調和;力鬆則發展先天之力,排除後天之力。蓋先天之力,乃固有之力,後天之力,為勉强之力。前者其勢順,後者其勢逆。太極拳主逆來順受,以順制逆者,故不須用過分之力。惟外家之拳術,其用力用氣每屬于勉强,强人以難能,故謂之硬工。習之不當,流弊滋多。旦習硬工者,其力已盡量用出,毫無含蓄。雖習之多年,表面似有增進;實則其內部之力,並未加長。若太極拳雖不用過分之力與氣,而練習時全在意志。惟其能用意志也,所以能使其力蓄于內,不流露于外;氣沉于丹田,不停滯于胸。惟其不用過分之力與氣,故習之旣久,積蓄之氣力乃愈大。至必要時,乃能運用自如,毫無困難與勉强。譬猶勞動者,終日工作,非不用氣力也。然其所有之氣力,皆已盡量用出,並無積蓄。故勞動若干年後,其力氣依然如故。外家之硬工,亦若是耳。
When practicing Taiji Boxing, it should have a pure naturalness. Instead of emphasizing exertion and emotion, you should emphasize using intention. Using exertion makes you clumsy. Using emotion slows you down. Therefore quelling emotion and letting go of exertion are requirements. Quelling emotion regulates the breath. Relaxing exertion promotes innate strength and inhibits acquired strength. Innate strength is real strength, whereas acquired strength is contrived strength. The former has a smooth energy, the latter a coarse energy. Taiji Boxing focuses on receiving coarse energy with smooth energy. By using the smooth to defeat the coarse, it is therefore not necessary to put forth excessive effort.
The exertion and emotion of external styles of boxing arts is always contrived. A strong person considers difficulty to be ability, thus this type of training is deemed “hard”. If your practice is inappropriate, it will create many bad habits. For one who does hard training every day, his power will be spent as soon as it is expressed, nothing left in storage. Even if he practices for many years, he will progress only superficially, not really building up any inner power at all.
Because Taiji Boxing does not use excessive exertion or emotion, the practice is entirely a matter of intention. If you can use intention, you will be able to conceal power inwardly rather than revealing it outwardly. Energy sinks to your elixir field rather than getting stuck in your chest. If you avoid using excessive exertion and emotion as you practice over a long period, you will accumulate more and more power. And then when you need it, you will be able to wield it freely, without any difficulty and without forcing it.
Consider a laborer, who puts forth effort in his work every day. He always uses all of his strength when he applies it, nothing left over. Therefore after many years of labor, his strength is no greater than when he started. The hard training of external stylists resembles this situation.
(四)發勁
4. Issuing Power
勁有剛柔之別:何謂剛勁,無論勁之大小,含有抵抗性,而一往無前者,謂之剛勁;何謂柔勁,隨敵勁以為伸縮,而不加抵抗者,謂之柔勁。太極拳之妙處,在於與人交手時,不先取攻勢,而能接受敵人之勁,初不加以抵抗。以其黏柔之力,化去敵人頑强之勁。待敵人一擊不中,欲圖謀再舉之時,然後蹈瑕抵隙,順其勢而反守為攻。則敵人力竭之餘,重心移動,鮮有不失敗者。蓋太極拳之動作,不為無數圜形;而圜形之中,則為重心所在,處處立定脚根。雖敵人發勁極强,而以逆來順受之法引之入彀。待敵人之勁旣出,重心旣失,然後從而制之。所謂避實就虛,以柔勝剛之法也。
Power divides into hard and soft. What is meant by “hard” power? This is when your power contains a quality of resistance, no matter the extent of the power, and goes forward with simple determination. What is meant by “soft” power? This is when you go along with the expanding and contracting of the opponent’s power instead of adding any resistance to it.
The subtlety of Taiji Boxing lies in not starting by seeking ways to attack when fighting with an opponent, but instead being able to receive his power without giving any initial resistance to it. Use sticky soft power to neutralize his stubbornly aggressive power. Wait for that moment when his attack has missed and he hopes to try again, then exploit his diminished position by going along with his energy and switching from defensive role to attacker. Once his force has been spent, his balance will have shifted, and he is thereby sure to be defeated.
Taiji Boxing’s movements are endlessly circular. As your balance lies at the center of a circle, you will always be standing stably on your heels. Even if the opponent issues power with great strength, use the principle of receiving his incoming force to lure him into a trap. Wait for his power to come out, then for his balance to falter, and then seize the moment and take control. As it is said [Art of War, chapter 6]: “Avoid him where he is full and attack him where he is empty.” This is the method of softness defeating hardness.
六)養生
6. Cultivating Health
拳術本屬體育之一種,自以養生為主要。然此非所論於外家之硬工。惟太極拳始眞能養生,無論强弱老幼,均可練習。吾人身體之發達,貴能平均,在生理上均有一定之程序。劇烈之運動,因不合於此種程序,結果多得其反。太極拳之動作,則輕輭異常,而一動全身皆動,於全身任何部分,均無偏頗之弊。且因其動作柔和輕靈,故能調和氣血,陶養性情,為最合於生理上之程序,能使身體平均發達者。且練習之時,無須用過分之力氣,雖老弱病夫,亦不難為之。所謂却病延年,洵非虛語。
Boxing arts are essentially a form of physical education, and so health cultivation is naturally a major emphasis. However, this is not represented well by the hard labor of external stylists, and only Taiji Boxing really has the capacity for health cultivation. Regardless of weak or strong, old or young, all can practice it. It is best for us to be able to develop our bodies uniformly, complementing the regular physiological processes within our bodies. Because strenuous exercise does not conform to these processes, it is typically rendered counterproductive.
Hence the movements in Taiji Boxing are unusually delicate. With each movement, the whole body is in motion, and thus no part of the body gets harmfully overworked. Furthermore, because the movements are gentle and nimble, they can regulate the temperament and cultivate one’s character, and because they conform perfectly to physiological processes, they can develop the body uniformly. While practicing, you do not need to put forth undue effort, and so even if you are old or ill, it is not difficult to do. Therefore the claim that it “prevents illness and prolongs life” is truly not a bunch of empty words.
余於民十四由粵赴北平,從太極拳名家吳鑑泉先生遊,吳先生為武當正宗,得太極拳之眞傳者。彼時曾請其將太極拳各種之姿勢,攝影留存,以資觀摩。囘粵後,與王志羣吳子鎮兩君,昕夕研求,略有進境。抵滬時,遇徐君致一,乃相與探討。徐���對於太極拳之學理,研究有素,頗多心得,曾著有太極拳淺說一書問世。為吳鑑泉先生之高足。今吳先生已來滬,仍得繼續請益。而太極拳名家如楊氏叔姪〔兄弟〕,少侯,澄甫,均居首都。而澄甫之高足陳君微明,亦在滬上,羣謀太極拳之精進與發展,吾道可謂南矣。迺者九福公司囑將影片製成圖版,貢之於世,俾廣流傳。余亦以此種拳術,有竭力提倡之價値。故不敢自閟,允可其請,因遂忘其簡陋,就一得之愚,說明其功用與夫優點之所在,弁諸簡端焉。

In 1925, I traveled from Guangdong to Beijing to learn from the famous Taiji Boxing master Wu Jianquan. He represents the genuine Wudang teachings, for he has received the authentic transmission of Taiji Boxing. At that time, I once asked him to demonstrate each of the postures so I could take photographs of them to preserve them as a model to emulate. After I returned to Guangdong, I studied constantly with Wang Zhiqun [Runsheng] and Wu Zizhen [Gongyi], making some slight progress. When I came to Shanghai, I met with Xu Zhiyi and we made a deep inquiry into the art. Xu has thoroughly researched into Taiji Boxing theory and has a great deal of experience. He has published the book Simple Introduction to Taiji Boxing [published 1927] and is a top disciple of Wu Jianquan.
Wu himself has recently come to Shanghai, where he continues to teach, leaving Beijing in the hands of other Taiji Boxing masters such as the Yang brothers, Shaohou and Chengfu. Yang Chengfu’s disciple Chen Weiming is also in Shanghai. We are all striving to promote Taiji Boxing here, and our teaching of it could perhaps be called “southern” [simply in contrast to Beijing in the north]. Hence the Many Blessings Company has urged me to send them the photographic plates to share with the world, in order to spread these teachings more widely. As I also consider these boxing skills to be worth strongly advocating, I therefore do not dare to hide them away. But please ignore the crudeness of this introduction. These are just my own humble explanations of the methods and merits of the art, presented here in brief.

The insect classes for Pre-School and Afterschool Program children at EtonHouse International School Karuizawa, which started in October, have come to the end of this fiscal year. It was a challenging opportunity for me to convey the fascination of insects in English during the winter season in the cold region, but the Pre-School children made photo panels listing the insects they found, and the Afterschool Program children made their first specimen boxes by themselves, including collecting, spreading wings and legs, and writing labels. Seeing the happy faces of the children as they gazed at the finished specimens was a priceless experience. I was also inspired by EtonHouse's emphasis on the power of design in children's education. I would like to express my gratitude to all those who helped us.
10月から始まった軽井沢町の EtonHouse International School Karuizawa の幼稚園と、小学生向けアフタースクールでの昆虫教室が一段落。 寒国の冬場に英語で昆虫の魅力を伝える、というチャレンジングな機会でしたが、幼稚園の子どもたちは見つけた昆虫を一覧にした写真パネルを、アフタースクールの子どもたちは採集・展翅展足・ラベル書きまで自分たちの力で初めての標本箱を作り上げてくれました。完成した標本を夢中で眺める子どもたちの嬉しそうな顔を見るのは、やはり何ものにも代え難いものです。 「デザイン」が子どもたちに与える力を重視するEtonHouseの教育のあり方にも、私自身刺激を頂く時間でした。お世話になった方々に御礼を申し上げます。

【五行拳意】

五行拳不是練拳,而是在練五種不同的勁。
「劈拳」
「劈拳」形似斧,有劈物之意,五行屬金能養肺,是一氣之起落也。
起似伏龍升天,落如霹雷擊地。起無形,落無蹤,去意好似捲地風。
開始練劈拳,要找個開闊地帶,猶如人登上高山,視野一開,會禁不住地長呼一口氣。在開闊地帶,氣息容易放開。
「龍形搜骨」,就是劈拳裡前腳外撇的大跨步,這個步子開天辟地,打通三盤,調理百骸,是成就身子的關鍵。有了步子有功夫,沒步子沒功夫,這個步子就是內功。
劈拳的姿勢是手的一探一回,猶如人的一呼一吸。起時吸氣,落時呼氣,一趟四五百米地打下去,氣息越來越綿長,越來越深遠,精力便充沛了。
手部動作激發了全身,漸漸就會感到氣息鼓蕩,全身毛孔開合。薛顛說過:「練拳的人要學會體呼吸。」呼吸的妙處在打劈拳時可以體會到。
劈拳養肺,人的兩條胳膊對肺直接作用。
就如同小孩們做的廣播體操,如擴胸運動,伸展運動都是通過運動兩條胳膊,來達到鍛煉呼吸,強健肺部的效果。
許多人身體都有隱疾,以劈拳練息可以將其滅於無形。而且人一上了歲數,身體會虧空,就要通過練息將氣補足。
劈拳練息,這個功夫得一年才能成就,先祛病再強身。通過練息,身上的氣養育起來,大腦時常會有靈感,此時學拳就真是趣味無窮了。
身上的氣充足了,精神也變得活躍,像小孩一樣幹什麼都興致盎然,這就說明功夫已上路了。
此時就不必再到開闊地去練拳了。形意拳自古講究『拳打臥牛之地』,有個能挪步的地方就練上了,到開闊地打拳只是入門的方便之法。
氣息充沛,這是習武的基礎,形意拳先練劈拳。劈拳中本就含有鑽拳的姿勢,練好劈拳接著練鑽拳較容易。正是「金生水」,劈拳屬金,鑽拳屬水。
「鑽拳」
「鑽拳」形似湧泉,五行屬水能補腎,是一氣之曲曲流行,無微不至也。
鑽拳是要練腿,以活腿來養腎。
所以鑽拳的步伐不是直來直去,而是螺旋前進。讓兩條腿有一個鬆快的餘地,這樣肺氣足,腎水旺,上下身都修好,方可以向上進修。
鑽拳的六個變招中,學會了兩個就全有了。一個是前手壓住對方,扯帶得後手攆錐子似的攆進去。另一個是,前手一晃,你就撞在他後手上了,變魔術一般,不是障眼法,而是他換了身型。
兩者的前後虛實不同。整體說來,鑽拳不是鑽拳,是鑽身。
冬天商店掛著沉甸甸的棉簾子,人進商店,前手一撩門簾,身子就往裡鑽,身子一動,手上搭的分量卸了,人進了門,簾子也剛好落下,有道縫就進了人。這是生活裡轉換虛實的現象,形意拳的「換影」也是這個意思。
水處卑下,往下流,所以練成鑽拳後,人的性格會變得沈穩謙和,皮膚質地都會改善,聲音非常悅耳,心思也會變得很縝密。以前老輩拳師不識字,但氣質高雅,很有涵養,因爲形意拳是內家拳,不但改造人體還改造心志。
「崩拳」
「崩拳」形似箭,五行屬木能舒肝,是一氣之伸縮也。
「崩」字怎麼解釋,就是一崩勁嗎?其實崩拳的妙處在於張弛。
把直來直去的拳打轉了。把轉著的圈打直了,這是崩拳的練法。
崩拳步很微妙,步子只是向前,兩膝蓋是擠著的。但腿根裡夾著活的動勢,稍稍一調,就能隨時隨意地轉向、轉勁。所以崩拳微妙。
「炮拳」
「炮拳」形似炮,五行屬火能養心,是一氣之開合,如炮炸裂也。
炮拳出手後,要向後一聳,就是上挑的槍法,所以炮拳裡有兩個家伙,明顯的足下扎槍,隱藏的是上挑槍,一個在形上,一個在勁上,以下扎的拳形來上挑,所以才妙。炮拳要到槍桿子上去體會。
槍勁就是拳勁:在某種程度上,也可以這麼說。練槍是為了出拳勁,但出了拳勁,拳勁就比槍勁美妙。這美妙是因為入象化腦子,不管是有形的還是無形的,這桿槍我們都不要了。
炮拳前手橫架在眉前,後手由面門徑直打出去,攻擊敵人面門,取開炮的意象,稱前手為炮架,後手為炮彈,後手的出拳路線是直的,而且要有股爆炸力。
打炮拳時,後手不直線出擊,而斜著撇出去,正是「遇敵好似火燒身」,就像往火堆裡滴一滴油,不是一般地火苗跳起。而是整簇大火都跳起,炮拳就是令全身勁力跳起,勁力不在最外的手上,而在內裡的根節,手隨著根節升騰起的勁力揮出。
「橫拳」
「橫拳」形圓滑似彈,五行屬土能養脾和胃,是一氣之團聚也。
其形圓,其性實,其氣順,則五行和而百物生焉。
五行的拳母是橫拳,橫拳屬土,萬物歸於土,土含育萬物,生發著劈、崩、鑽、炮,所以橫拳是無形的,橫拳勁是形意拳最獨特的東西。
橫拳的練法,是斜著進一小步,橫著退一大步,橫拳等於是倒著打的,正好練這「踏荷葉」,腳伸在地上,要感到踏在荷葉桿上,只有一根絲能支持,要用腳的肉感,把這根絲探測出來。
橫拳是無形的,而有形的橫拳就是蛇行,一橫身子,就有了兜、裹、丟、頂。
拳勁起自腰勁,只有頭虛領了,腰裡才生力。
薛顛的蛇形。蛇形是肩打,「後手只在胯下藏」,後手繞在後臀胯下,貼著尾椎骨向上一提。猶如馬尾巴乍起來,才能跑狂了,撐上這個勁,尾椎乍了,肩膀才能打人,這是樁法融入拳法。
形意拳在發力時,只在碰到對手身上的瞬間,手才握緊。同樣的道理,只在打倒敵人的一瞬間,才露真形,這是五形拳的用法,只用一點,一點即可。大部分時間存而不用,神經上有儲備就行了。《西游記》裡的妖精,關鍵時候才���原形。「真身只在剎那」。
尚雲祥還有「練拳要學瞎子走路」的竅門,重點不在拳腿,而在全身。
瞎子走路身子前後都提著小心,從頭到腳都有反應,練拳不是練拳腿,而是全身的敏感(敏銳的感知)。

"Dragon-shaped bone search" is the big step of the front foot in taek fist. This step opens the sky, opens the three sets, and adjusts the whole body, is the key to achieving the body. With steps there is kung fu, without steps there is no kung fu, this step is internal work.
Taekwist pose is a look of the hand, like a person's breath. Inhale when you get up, exhale when you fall, hit four or five hundred meters at a trip, the breath gets longer and longer, more and more profound, and the energy is full.
Hand movements stimulate the whole body. Gradually feel the breath drumming and pores open and close. As Yao said, "Those who practice boxing must learn to breathe. The beauty of breathing can be realized in taeking.
Taekwist to raise lungs, the two arms of a person act directly on the lungs.
Just like children do radio gymnastics, such as chest expansion, stretching exercises are through the exercise of two arms to achieve the effect of exercising breathing and strengthening the lungs.
Many people have hidden diseases in their bodies, and practice with taek fist can destroy them invisible. And as soon as a person gets old, the body will lose money, it is necessary to make up for breath through practice.
Taekwondo practice, this kung fu takes a year to achieve, first get sick and then get strong. Through practice, the body's breath is nurtured, the brain often has inspiration, and learning boxing is really fun at this time.
The body is full of energy, the spirit is active, and everything like a child is excited, which means that kung fu is on its way.
No need to go to the open to practice boxing again. Form boxing has always paid attention to "the place of punching and sleeping cows". There is a place where you can move, and it is only a convenient way to get started.
Full of breath, this is the foundation of martial arts practice, first practice taeking. Taekwist has a diamond pose. It's easier to practice taekwist and then drill. It is "golden water", taekwist gold, diamond fist water.
