Sebadoh's 5th studio album was released on 23 August 1994.

Original drummer Eric Gaffney appears on 4 songs on Bakesale, from the initial recording sessions at Steve Albini's home (Bob Weston handled the sessions). Tara Jane O'Neil drums on 3 songs, and Bob Fay drummed on 8 songs (officially becoming a member of the band after Gaffney's departure after the Weston session).

Bakesale failed to find a wide audience in the US, but peaked at #40 in the UK and appeared on a number of year-end "best of" lists (#16 by Spin, #20 by The Village Voice, #27 by NME)

Hunted TV show au (the one where they chase down rogue celebs as if they're wanted criminals. There's an information team and everything) where moondae goes on it and he's so good he even escapes the cameraman set to follow him. He's just a ghost, except he keeps sending the intelligence team chasing him clues that make them run in circles. It's hilarious to watch in the final show, especially when footage of the team after him is paralleled with the videos he took of himself of his time on the run.

In the Tessa au, Emily becomes a profiling consultant so that she works more stable hours for the kids and JJ doesn’t have to give up the BAU. It’s the perfect arrangement because Emily has wanted a family for so long that she’s thrilled not to have to leave them very often, she’s never compelled to get into the politics of the FBI, and JJ is never made to feel guilty about her job. There’s always someone to be home with the kids at night, and JJ is more compelled to leave the office on time, knowing her family are waiting for her, but the usual fights with Will aren’t.

Later, Emily becomes a college lecturer and JJ takes over as unit chief.
