Heyo all, it's been a while with some radio static and I've got a bundle of bits to reply to here!

If you're wondering where I've been, it's actually that things got MEGA busy on my end. Between the new year, a small promotion at work, getting a license to operate an X-ray machine for extremities (i have no idea how this happened man i have an applied science degree in dead people), learning some Java, and making travel plans to visit my partner overseas, it's been hectic but good.

But I ain't gonna pay it no mind, because every 6 months in queensland a man is torn apart by a crocodile the Warrior Cats never stops. I have also been passively ruminating on the Family Tree and keeping up with checking the inbox. Before I get to ShadowClan and the Glitch Warriors, I'll tackle all the other things.

My honest feeling is that they don't know what a chimera is, BUT, I'm actually glad about that.

I would 100% rather they go with having her be possessed by a dead stillborn rather than them making her rare, ultimately harmless genetic quirk "the reason" why she's haunted. The stillborn haunting is the sort of concept I've come to accept in the setting (though I do have my critiques and reservations about another Evil Voice plotline, especially given the shitshow that was Splashstar in the last book of ASC), but there are DEEP layers to how messed up the implication of "zygote souls" would be.

Others have been joining into the convo in the meanwhile, tho. In essence, I agree with @mothdapple's thoughts on the subject. I hope the voice isn't wholly evil, and I hope that the haunting doesn't stem from her chimerism.

I'm betting that she gets a weird shipping moment with one of her cousins tbh. Especially if she survives this arc and doesn't become a medcat. You just know they'll open up the next arc with her and Sunkit being mates with 400 babies if you ship her with a girl too hard lmaooo

MANNNNN. You CANNOT convince me that I'm not correct about this at this point. The first 4 times it might have been coincidence, but they seem to have pinpoint accuracy for sinking popular LGBT headcanons and hetconning straight romance into old material.

That's Riverstar, Blossomfall, Ivypool, Leopardstar, Onestar (they replaced a firestar scene man), and now Thriftear and Flipclaw in one fell swoop?

thank god. This is actually an extremely easy fix for me, now. All the pre-emptive cleaning I've done for the BB!ThunderClan family tree has paid off.

PlumThrift is sooooo back. It's basically what they've shown in the first book of CS. Soccer moms and their weird ass kid who they're desperately pushing to be an overachiever LET'S GOO. The most likely thing that will happen is that Moonpaw is a PlumThrift kitten-- unless something big changes.

(Though I am a little bit saddened that I can't do the cool Phantom of the Opera mask thing which came from Bayshine... unless Moon was honor sired, of course. Or maybe adopted. Hmm...)

For Oakkit, Sunkit, and Hazelkit though, I'm leaning towards what anon mentioned. Their canon parents are Myrtlebloom/Flipclaw, so it would be very easy for me to change to FlipBay because of my pre-emptive fixes. It'll match canon, and I have also grown fond of the idea of the two silly dads.

(plus then it's extra easy to have Moonpaw come from the first surrogated litter which was for PlumThrift to raise, and the second litter is for FlipBay. Biologically full siblings, socially cousins.)

That said, there's still a small chance they get shuffled over to ShellFern. Or, more radically, I might end up sending them over to StormCherry. If that doesn't happen though, don't worry, I'm still keeping Honeyfur and Leafshade in my back pocket in case there's no other opportunities to give them kids.

I will say this for certain though-- PlumThrift BB!Moonpaw would never have full siblings. She will be the only child they ever raise. If the canon parents ever have another litter, they would immediately get shuffled to FlipBay or someone else.

Sunbeam's kittens are, of course, Finchlight's. im punting that other thing into RiverClan. GIT.

OTHER FUN STUFF

I do actually want more mushroom names broadly, because sapient cats would actually be REALLY interested in fungi. I'd even say they'd be more interested in them than flowers. A lot of edible fungi have a chemical compound that makes them smell and taste like meat, so imo, they should be kind of like natural snacks or treats you can find while out and about.

Kinda like how humans have fruit, a culture of cats would have mushrooms. I plan on researching and writing a VERY elaborate mushroom guide at some point explaining this all in-depth (which I will be going thru my little "rolladex" of artists to illustrate it, when it's time), so I don't want to dive into the details just yet.

But in terms of names...

Something I wish I'd been able to do more of is weird, hard-to-translate prefixes. Scents that humans overlook, more time-related names about seasons or crepuscular events, categories of birds and invertebrates, etc.

Petricorfur, Prey-scent-tail, Arionbelly (a particularly large slug for eating), Rascalheart (a particularly feisty bit of prey that gives you a good chase), Thermalhawk (a thermal is a rising wind that allows birds of prey to soar more easily) etc.

If I was going back and scrounging up Glitch Warriors for other Clans, or just generally shaking up the prefixes, I would add names with these "themes" into each Clan;

Thunder: Sweet things and more wood-related terms Nectar, Drupe, Sap, Pith, Grain, bark textures like Fissure, Scale, Tessel.

River: More aquatic animal terms, poetic imagery, and "beautiful" things Caddis, Cray, Salmon, Roe, Mussel, Pearl, Dazzle, Twirl, Dance, Sway, Mirror (for the state of water when it's absolutely calm).

Wind: Sounds, events around the time of birth Bellow, Hiss, Roar, Crackle, Swale (if born around the time of a muirburn), Journey (if born out of camp), Drowsy (for a long birth)

Shadow: Mushrooms, wetland terms, fermentation effects, names that might otherwise sound like insults to other Clans Cake, Candle, Jelly, Parasol, Elf, Sphagnum, Gas, Drake (male duck), Muck, Peat, Bog, Fizzle, Bubble, Rot, Blight, Gnat, etc.

Sky: Cars and Suburban Terms Truck, Bike, Cycle, Wheel, Asphalt, Lawn, Fence, Board, Shingle, etc.

I also really want to put Vetch in someplace. It's a pretty normal and common kind of flower, I just think the name is neat.

The only thing I ask is that you keep that spirit of mutual collaboration alive. If you add onto Clanmew, allow others to reference it too. Talk about your thought processes. Encourage people to be inspired by what you did and make versions of their own. That's the beauty of fandom.

My end-game goal is for BB to result in a "skeleton" of chapter-by-chapter notes, the sort of thing you would hand to a ghost writer, so that it's essentially bones that anyone could take and write out themselves. This will take a looooong time because it's more about me having fun along the way, so if you want to write something, go ahead!

Never, never worry about "getting something wrong." You can change things, you can grow as a writer with time, wisdom, and practice. The worst piece of art is a piece that is never made.

“It was a really big room with all sorts of weird instruments, and lots of colours, and happy little elfies—”

Well. That was an interesting new thing they could do.

“Jack.”

He groaned. Pulling a face, Jack turned around, a brilliant smile replacing the scowl as he watched Santa’s irritating head elf march their way.

“Bean pole.”

Bernard pulled up in front of them, placing his hands behind his back and ignoring the slight. (Rude, Jack thought). He could feel Jacqueline shifting forward in interest, folding her hands on top of his head.

“Council’s reconvening. Mother Nature wanted me to let you know that she knows you and your Legate have already been sworn in, but she expects you both to stay for the remainder of the proceedings.”

Jack grimaced, nose wrinkling. He glanced up at Jacqueline. She was wide awake and very interested in everything right now, it looked (and felt) like. So much for the “sleepy toddler” excuse, then. She’d be very unconvincing.

“Fine,” Jack sniffed. “We’ll be back posthaste and all that.”

Bernard looked surprised. And relieved. “Huh. That was easier than I expected. Thanks Jack.”

The nerve, Jack thought, watching as the elf walked away. “That was easier than I expected,” he mocked, sticking his tongue out at Bernard's retreating form.

He straightened. Dear Lady above. He really needed to tone down the hanging-out-with-a-toddler time. It was really bringing down his pristinely cultivated maturité.

“Down! Down!”

“What? You just wanted up!”

“Well now I want down! Pretty please.”

“I don’t know, Jacqueline. That please sounded like an afterthought.”

He was unsurprised when he felt her little toes once again digging into his shoulders, her face appearing before him with an over the top and yet, still adorable little pout. How did she make her eyes go that big. What was wrong with her.

“P-w-leaseeeeeeeee Jack? Pretty pretty please???? With powdery snow on top???”

“Alright, fine. Get back up there. And fix your face.”

Cackling (yes, really, the child was cackling), Jacqueline smirked at him, popping back up on his shoulders. Seconds later her arms were around his neck and she slid down his back and threw herself over his shoulders, succeeding in nothing but a decent imitation of a necktie.

“Jacqueline. You really need to work on your chill.”

“What? No I don't! You said it was perfect just last week!”

“Not—” Jack paused to let out a laugh. “Not your literal chill! The art of being chill.”

She stopped squirming, hanging off of Jack’s neck, head tilted up at him.

“Oh. Right.”

Rolling his eyes fondly, Jack grabbed her waist, placing her down gently.

“Honestly, Jacqueline. I’m super chill, not super fast. Have some patience. Hand please, if you're going to insist on being on the floor.”

“Hehe. Okay.” She grabbed his hand, letting him gently tug her back towards the meeting room. “Who was that?”

“Who?”

“The guy you thought was rude!”

Ah. She could hear his thoughts, too. Best be careful about that, Jack thought. To himself.

“That was Santa’s Number One Elf.”

“He had a cool hat. I liked it.”

“Yeah. I’m sure he’d let you wear it in a heartbeat.”

Jacqueline stopped, pulling Jack with her. Her eyes had done that “getting big” thing again.

“REALLY?!”

Jack blinked. And got a terrible idea.

“Why, of course! C’mon, Jacqueline. Who can say no to you.”

She looked positively devious. “NO ONE.”

“Exactly. Tell you what. Why don’t you go find him and ask? I’m sure he’ll say yes. Just make sure you call him by his preferred name! It's Bernie. He loves his name. You go and catch up to him, okay? Just. Don’t get lost!”

“Okay! Wait. How will I find you?”

“Tell you what. I’m going to go to the...restroom quickly, and then I’ll go find you, and we can head back to Gran. Okay?”

“Okay!”

“Have fun! Be safe! Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!” Jack shouted after her retreating form, smile dropping as soon as his sister was out of view.

A quick trip to the restroom…or perhaps, instead, a quick trip to Santa’s office to do something about this whole unlawful exclusion he’d managed to get?

Same difference, Jack thought, slinking away through the lesser used hallways of the Workshop.

I know you only rewrite complete arcs but listen. Listen. Even if you end up axeing Starlingpaw's POV in the end I think you need to woman beam her out of spite.

Fear not, kittens. The woman beam is aimed at the wretched beast. Watching the Arc play out is just a matter of if the woman beam is going to be set to "gentle spiro shower" or "UTTER ESTRADIOL ERADICATION." Is the result a girl, or a smouldering pile of femme dust? Stay tuned!

Another thing I'm considering is, at some point, giving her the name Shrikepaw. Great Gray Shrikes are small, monochrome birds which have distinctive markings that resemble a badger.

But, more relevantly, they're called Butcherbirds because of their gruesome habit of impaling dead rodents on thorns, the same way leopards "cache" their kills. I think it would be fitting if, after her father's death, Shrikepaw requests for her name to be changed so that she's not always reminded of the fact it was her appearance that got her dad killed.

"Starling" as a prefix being an attempt at comfort, not a straightforward description. Starlings are in an odd space culturally-- both hunted due to their size and abundance, AND considered sacred songbirds which carry the shine of the stars in their feathers.

At the same time, I don't want to leave Robinpaw out in the dust, either. There's actually two kinds of shrikes in the area-- the Great Gray, and the Woodchat.

SO I'm thinking that they might have both changed their names, originally being twins matching their respective shrikes. Now they're gentler songbirds, with Robin swapping hers to consistently match her sister.

I'm thinking Shrikepaw and Fiscalpaw, since Fiscal is another name for certain shrikes (though mostly in Africa), since Butcherpaw is a bit on the nose. In Clanmew, the Great Gray Shrike and the Woodchat Shrike will have two totally different names, so it's going to be a rough translation either way.

I'm still going to leave room to "feel it out," though. We need to see how spiteful this arc makes me. I might fall in love with Robinpaw in blind fury and have a Category 5 Lesbian Moment, with windspeeds so high I obliterate a significant portion of the coastline. So we'll have to account for that

the soft glow of the tv illuminated the room as the four of you huddled together on the bed, engrossed in the movie playing before you. yuuji sat beside you, his eyes glued to the screen as the plot thickened. you couldn't help but steal glances at him, his features softened by the flickering light.

as the movie reached its climax, you felt a weight lean against your shoulder. you turned to see yuuji, his eyes closed in peaceful slumber, his head now resting comfortably on your shoulder. nobara noticed and couldn't resist a playful grin. "well, well, looks like someone's found a comfy pillow," she teased, nudging megumi with her elbow. megumi chuckled calmly, his gaze switching between you and the screen. "seems like itadori’s enjoying the movie a little too much."

you felt your cheeks flush at their teasing, unsure of how to react. "he must have been really tired," mumbling, trying to hide your embarrassment.

nobara only gave you a wink, "or maybe he just wanted an excuse to get closer to you." subsequently, you gave her a playful stare, hoping to deflect the attention away from you. "you're reading too much into it, kugisaki."

despite your attempts to downplay the situation, the thought of yuuji sleeping near you made you feel warm. as the movie went on, you found yourself stealing looks at him, unable to shake the fluttering feeling in your chest.

FUSHIGURO MEGUMI

the four of you were alone with just the gentle hum of the engine as the car moved through the peaceful streets. megumi sat beside you in the backseat, his eyes heavy with sleep after a long day of exorcising curses. whereas infront of you, yuuji and nobara chattered away, their voices blending into the night air.

the man leaned against you, his head drooping lower and lower until it finally came to rest on your shoulder. you couldn't help but smile, feeling the warmth of his breath against your neck. "looks like someone's had a long day, hm?” you whispered, gently shifting to make him more comfortable.

yuuji turned to look back, a sly smile growing on his face. "aww, how adorable both of you!"

nobara then laughed, delight glinting in her voice. "looks like he finally warmed up for you."

"shh, you'll wake him up!" you said to shut them up.

but it was too late. the sudden burst of light from nobara's phone camera flash flooded the car, causing megumi to jolt awake with a start. he blinked owlishly, confusion written all over his face as he realized where he was.

"sorry guys," nobara said, trying to contain her laughter. "but i gotta send this to gojo-sensei.” yuuji immediately chimed in, continuing nobara’s teasing. "they’re so over once he sees this photo."

megumi's cheeks flushed a deep shade of red as he straightened up, rubbing his eyes sheepishly. "i-i didn't mean to fall asleep," the words jumbled from his mouth. you reached out to gently squeeze his hand, giving him an understanding smile. "it's okay, megumi. you needed the rest."

he glanced up at you, his eyes softening with gratitude. "thank you.”

with a contented sigh, megumi settled back against you, his head once again finding its place on your peaceful shoulder.

GOJO SATORU

gojo sat next to you on the train going home whilst geto and shoko stood across. the man beside you leaned back against the seat as the train lurched into action, his eyelids getting heavier by the second. before long, his head tipped just enough to rest against your shoulder as he fell into a quiet sleep.

geto raised an eyebrow at the sight of you both, a knowing smirk playing on his lips. "if i were you, i’d shrug him off. right, shoko?”

“that’s mean, suguru,” shoko chuckled softly, rolling her eyes. "it's like they planned it all along."

"it's just a coincidence, guys," you stammered, embarrassed by their words.

geto chortled, shaking his head in amusement. "sure, sure. we believe you." then shoko slowly leaned closer, whispered a penny of thought.

"although, i have to admit, you two do look pretty cute together."

you shot her a glare, trying to ignore the redness spreading through you at the thought of gojo sleeping beside you. "damn, you guys really gotta stop with the teasing."

OKKOTSU YUUTA

the soft rustle of leaves filled the air as yuuta and you lounged beneath the shade of a grand oak tree, its branches swaying gently in the breeze. you felt yuuta's head slowly come to rest on your shoulder.

but you and yuuta’s moment of peace was soon interrupted by the approach of familiar voices. maki, inumaki, and panda emerged from the nearby path, their laughter echoing through the clearing as they spotted you both.

maki surveyed the sight in front of her, knowing what to tease already, prodding inumaki and panda with her elbow, "can you really be asleep that fast?" panda added his cheery voice and inumaki nodded in accord. "maybe he’s just pretending to—."

your eyes darting between them in an anxious manner. as you objected, trying not to look embarrassed, "hey, tone it down.”

but maki wasn't convinced. with her usual grin of mischief, she stepped forward and gently shook yuuta awake. "come on, sleepyhead. you can't just doze off on someone like that." yuuta blinked groggily, his eyes adjusting to the sudden light. the man glanced up at you, a smile spreading across his face as he realized his position. "sorry about that," he said, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

you couldn't help but laugh along with them, the warmth of the friendship washing over you as wondered, did he really fall asleep that easily though?
