In case nobody's asked you this before, what's your favourite gf AU?

some mutuals cooked up an au (i helped c:) where bill's secretly a romance writer who's been writing a series of steamy fantasy romance novels starring Bill Cipher Bella Atbash and Stanford Pines Redford Pinington. Ford read them during his portal era. He doesn't know Bill wrote them. He yearns for the kind of love Redford's found.

it's an AU inside an AU. Both "Bill moonlights as a romance novelist" and "Bella & Redford's fantasy world" are stories unto themselves.

and lemme tell you, "Bill & Ford's relationship dynamic, reinterpreted as a purple prose-laden melodramatic high fantasy, as romanticized by Bill" makes for a delightful read

this AU exists nowhere but in discord & DMs.

also we came up with it before TBOB came out with the Tabitha Lustheart romance novel cover, so we're taking that as confirmation that we're right.

sadly the server that most of this Lore was on was deleted without our knowledge or consent one day last year & so a lot of stuff was lost, but here's what i remember that i could scrounge out of dms:

it was krill who decided that gold in locks was a trilogy - book 1 was gold in locks of course, loosely based on this & book 3 was the fool and the flame.

redford pinington had a ponytail and a '''24 pack''' and exclusively wore flowing poet shirts with very tight breeches. bella atbash was a phoenix-like eldritch being trapped in the body of a Ravishing Mature Woman, but also every time a standard bodice ripper would have said 'woman', we said 'triangle'. so we would end up with sentences like her triangular urges waxed with the moon, or he was inflamed by her exquisite geometry. redford also calls bella 'witch-muse' & 'tri-devil'. we thought it'd be really funny if this was never explained, in these novels which definitely aren't written with one hand by bill cipher, the triangle.

so for the bit i started writing excerpts from puff's goldilocks fic, which this was all based on, but in bodice-ripper purple prose. so then we had like

Bella's eyes flashed with golden lightning as she writhed in Redford's grasp, yet still his strong arms held her.

'Enough, tri-devil! I have had with your games and tricks!'

'Let me free, I command you!' she howled. Blue flames leapt from her lips, scorching Redford's skin. To him it seemed that her shape changed in the shadows of the basement study, inhumanly perfect lines and angles forming, all ablaze with a demonic radiance from which he could not look away.

Then, as the golden collar was fastened inexorably about her throat, Bella's mighty wrath turned to weeping, and she beat her delicate fists against Redford's unyielding breast.

'Never again will you command me,' he declared, six-fingered hand moving deftly to hold her chin even as she snarled in her grief. 'You are mine, witch-muse! From now until the end of time.'

or even

Redford backed Bella against the golden stained glass of the attic. His hand reached toward her, almost in a gesture of tenderness, but he had sworn to himself - never again would he caress her as he had in the forest before the eclipse.

Instead he tore the diaphanous fabric of her chemise aside, exposing the vulnerable swell of her tawny breasts. Bella gave an open-mouthed gasp at this ferocity, her beautiful face red with sudden shame. Even Stanley behind them made an indignant sound. But Redford was beyond caring, beyond honour.

The freezing metal of the Godslayer pressed against Bella's silken skin. She shook with terror, hot tears streaming down her cheeks. Redford was close enough to see the bright flecks of fire in her eyes.

'Speak your final words, my Muse.'
