Colleagues know that me and mum love frozen desserts. We have eaten those fish-shaped taiyaki ice cream from Chateraise and love it. They informed me about the Samanco Ice Cream Sandwich (S$8.10 for a pack of 4s) on sale at our local NTUC supermarket. These frozen confections are made in South Korea by Binggrae and comes in quite a few flavours like strawberry, chocolate, red bean and the two below that I bought. The Samanco Green Tea & Red Bean Ice Cream Sandwich comes with matcha flavoured ice cream plus sweetened red beans. Outside it are two halves of wafer fish which is no longer crispy as expected.

The Samanco Mixberry Ice Cream Sandwich (S$8.96) is the latest available flavour so there is no discount for it. This taiyaki is filled with vanilla ice cream and a thin layer of mix berries syrup giving it a fruity tang. Between the two flavours, I much preferred the latter as the berries flavour is far more refreshing.

Binggrae, the South Korean food company most known for their banana milk product, seems to have gone with the animal crossing option for their mascot to avoid any “finger” controversy. They had earlier caved to incel tantrums and removed an advertisement video where the dreaded “finger” could be seen for a single frame.

This was too sweet compared to the Selecta one. The banana flavor also felt so artificial.

Not European (and you didn’t mention nuts) but that ice cream bar sounds very close to an Encho ice cream bar by Korean brand Binggrae!

this packaging isn’t familiar to me but the bar itself is identical to what i remember, down to the chunky, rounded shape of the chocolate center. could have been a european rebrand maybe? thank you! now i can finally show my wife how this is different from the fudge bar she insisted i was describing to her ❤️

ETA HOW did i not think of the three K-markets more-or-less in our area. i think a childhood dream fulfilled is in my future. fingers crossed!

When the tears slowly drip down her face, he catches the look in her eyes. The lights of the small, run-down convenience store glows into the dark outside and highlights her upturned nose that widens near the bottom & her pouty, velvety lips with the pinkish cupid’s bow. Her flushed puffy cheeks paired with her swollen, bloodshot eyes make it easy to understand why the young girl is sitting on the curb of the street, her hands covering her face in an attempt to suppress her sobs. Her eyes slowly meet his and she says something inaudible from how quiet her voice is. Yet he can see the shape of her lips forming the letters of his name, his stage name. Probably a fan, he thinks. This store with the big “open” sign flickering in the background and sketchy alley near the back is the only reason they even met. Truly met, without the veil of lies and exaggerations, their ugly, vulnerable truths laid out bare.

“I’m sorry,” the foreign girl forces out with a few sniffles from the tears, “I won’t bother you.”

Jongseong shifts his eyes away and ignores the girl crying, quickly walking inside the store.

Yet, there’s a tug on his heart and Jongseong comes back with a strawberry binggrae and milk bread in plastic bag, flashing her a look of pity, or maybe empathy.

“Here, take it.”

This is a little summary of a story im planning on making but i just want to know if i should post once i start making the outline and chapters
