Since you’re a Galarian native and have an Orbeetle yourself, have you ever studied any crossbreeds with the Blipbug line? Specifically any Dottler variants?

I have actually! I mostly learn about pokemon crossed with Orbeetle (I try my best to discourage egg-laying behaviour, but Joker is a young adult, and young adults are gonna do what young adults do 🥲), I've actually learned a lot about Orbeetle crossbreeds. Most of them were mixed with other common galarian bugs (vikavolt, butterfree, Combee), but I remember traveling once and seeing one crossed with Volcarona. That one was super pretty, so I wanna cover that breed!

Pokemon Crossbreeds: SSO

SSo is the name for members of the Orbeetle line whose father is a Volcarona. Technically, it's short for "Sun Sychronous," but no one ever calls it that because it's too long. They got their name from the satellites that orbit the sun. The breed is generally larger than the standard breed.

Blipbug

SSO Blipbug gain the fuzz and antenna of Larvesta. The added size of their antenna makes them even more sensitive to their surroundings than standard Blipbug is, which can mean that they might not like being pet as much since it can be overstimulating for them. They often appear after forest fires, as many pokemon will leave them alone if they're there, and they can eat the dried plants without worry of predators. While their dads are fire types, and they can be found after forest fires, these pokemon are not immune to flames, so don't try putting them in fires.

Dottler

These Dottler gain the traits of Volcarona, though, as they don't naturally have wings, that just means they're shell becomes orange and gains the dot markings of Volcarona. Their whiskers also look like the horns of Volcarona now. While still not immune to fire, their shell can handle heat better.

Orbeetle

SSO Orbeetle gain the wing shape of Volcarona and their orange coloring. The antenna now become the shape of Volcarona'a horns. There are many legends surrounding this breed in Galar, with one believing that this version of Orbeetle orbited the sun but somehow ended up on Earth. Behaviour wise, they don't really change much, but, like the rest of their breed, they can handle heat better.

Friendly reminder to those new to Galar: don't fuck with Blipbug. Those fuckers hold grudges and they have photogenic memory. They WILL remember the slightest misdeeds you did to them. And when they become an Orbeetle, they WILL hunt you down to get your revenge. "But it doesn't know where I live", it will figure it out. They're excellent radars. They are very fast, and will search the whole damn region to find you.

There's a common Galarian saying about this. "There is no greater revenge than the one given from an Orbeetle."

Take it from someone with an Orbeetle: Joker loves me and I love him, but even HE got back at me from shit I don't even remember I did to him as a Blipbug. It was small, but apparently, I gave my Inteleon (sobble at the time) food first before him, which made him really grumpy, so the little fucker waited until he was an Orbeetle to steal my food and dump it into the trash can because, "If he didn't get to eat, I don't get to eat." (Explained how he told me this here). That was just a silly one that I now find funny, but like, seriously. These things can be deadly if they want to be.
