Nur Reiche haben noch Bildungschancen

Alle anderen werden "gleich gemacht"

"Nach meinem Studium sitze ich auf 80.000 Dollar Schulden"

Das ist für viele StudentInnen in den den USA leider Realität und auch in Deutschland schießen Privat-Hochschulen überall aus dem Boden. Nicht mehr das gewerkschaftlich erkämpfte Recht auf Bildung steht im Mittelpunkt, sondern der Profit. Nebenbei wird die heutige Studentengeneration durch Schulden und Nebenjobs so unter Stress gesetzt, dass sie ihr Studium möglichst rasch und ohne jedes Aufmucken hinter sich bringen.

Der Blick in die USA zeigt uns, worauf wir uns einstellen müssen:

hohe Studiengebühren,

hohe Mieten in den dazu gehörenden Unterkünften,

Kredite für diese Studiengebühren mit wachsenden Zinsen,

lebenslange Rückzahlung der Schulden.

So haben sich in den USA im Herbst 2021 nur noch 15,44 Millionen High-School-AbsolventInnen für eine höhere Bildung entschieden -  21% weniger als noch im Jahr davor. Nur im Jahr 1951 hatte es so einen Rückgang der Anmeldungen gegeben. Ein College Besuch (über in der Regel vier Jahre als Eingangstor in den tertiären Bildungsbereich) kostet durchschnittlich 38.270 US-Dollar pro Jahr. Und an den Universitäten wird dann richtig Kasse gemacht.

Die Wiener Zeitung kommt nach dieser Betrachtung zum Fazit: "Lustvolles Philosophieren über die Zustände in der Welt im Allgemeinen und im Besonderen, kritisches Hinterfragen der Ist-Zustände ist da oft aus Zeit- und Geldgründen nicht drin."

Man fragt sich, wie und warum sich ein technologisch fortschrittliches Land wie die USA, diesen Rückgang an Bildungschancen - der ja z.B. mit Fox News auch in aller Deutlichkeit in der politischen Auseinandersetzung sichtbar wird - verkraften können. Aber trotz aller Wild-West-Manier und Ellenbogengesellschaft kommen jährlich Hundertausende zum Teil gut ausgebildete Menschen aus aller Welt in die USA. So kann man weiterhin neben aller Hetze gegen Geflüchtete aus der Masse dieser Neuankömmlinge gut Ausgebildete integrieren - und die Riemen für die einheimische Bevölkerung weiter anziehen.

Das sind in den USA und auch langsam hier Zustände, wie wir sie nicht wollen! Wo bleibt der Aufschrei dagegen, z.B. in der Regierungspartei SPD?
