⋆₊˚JACK AND ESTELLA'S RELATIONSHIP.
♬⋆.˚now playing...CAN'T REMEMBER TO FORGET YOU BY SHAKIRA AND RIHANNA
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
FICS
⋆ HOW THEY MET → five more minutes. (coming soon)
⋆ HOW THEY FELL OFF → the fallout. (coming soon)
Tumblr media
⋆ halfway through their second year, they had agreed to be friends with benefits since neither had the time for a proper relationship.
⋆ it went on for about 5 months before unspoken feelings were finally brought up, leading to a messy fight that ended their deal. however, they couldn't avoid each other entirely, since they had some close mutual friends.
Tumblr media
⋆ jack is always the first to pick a fight, commenting on something irrelevant like how he doesn't like the color of her shirt just to get a rise out of her.
⋆ they'll be having full on verbal fights in the library, their friends sinking in their seats in embarrassment as they receive disapproving looks from surrounding students.
⋆ jack loves to watch her face grow red after he sneaks in a flirtatious comment as she was scolding him for god knows what.
⋆ "fuck you, jack." "you already did."
⋆ everything is a competition, who has better grades, how much they can drink without seeming drunk, who can pull the most.
⋆ he calls her anything other than her name, a favorite of his is "stelly smelly", while she straight up doesn't refer to him at all.
⋆ estella is very in touch with her own emotions, yet there's something about the feeling she gets around jack that she just can't figure out.
⋆ there's a burning hatred inside of her that sparks whenever he speaks, but not quite the same burning she feels as her eyes shoot daggers into the back of some random girl that he's shamelessly flirting with.
⋆ jack will actively sabotage any chance of her getting with another guy, sliding into the conversation and saying something out of pocket like "you don't wanna get with her bro, she picks her boogers and eats them." feeling relief wash over him as the guy backs off of her.
⋆ after a day where he's pissed her off more than usual, she'll push herself harder at dance practice, using the confusing rage to drive her passion as she runs through her combos countless times to make sure there's no mistakes.
⋆ jack knows about her anxiety, so he knows when it's time to back off and leave her alone. he's still an asshole though, so he'll only back off when he knows there's something important coming up, like a dance competition or an exam, otherwise it's business as usual.
⋆ estella who hates herself when she can't help but stare at his annoyingly pretty features, him quirking a brow in amusement when he catches her.
⋆ sometimes they won't speak for a week or more, one of their fights getting too heated and one of them hurts the others feelings. maybe estella saying something about how he'd be fucked without hockey, or maybe jack bringing up the fact that she was cheated on in her past relationship.
⋆ they won't talk about it or resolve anything, simply finding themselves in the same environment and going back to their pointless bickering.
⋆ yet as the two lay in their separate dorms at night as they try to fall asleep, they can't help but think back to how they used to be, tangled in one bed.

Mingyu as a demigod (and your boyfriend)
Tumblr media
Since he was little, Mingyu loved to create things. The way his eyes shone when he finished his treehouse at the age of only 7 was wonderful.
Everyone could see the fire of passion in his eyes, the fire of the forge of his father Hephaestus.
When he reached adolescence things changed a little, he no longer wanted to create new things but wanted to fix things.
So, when Mr. D gave you the mission to found and protect a new demigod in your old school you knew exactly who was. You packed your bow and arrows with a smile on your face. You knew Mingyu because you two were best friends in high school but, unfortunately, you had to hid in the camp for your safety.
When you disappeared, Mingyu was so sad and angry because you didn't tell him anything but when he saw you again trying to run away with him he was so confused.
"If you don't start walking, I won't save your clumsy ass Mingyu"
"That's the first thing you said to me after five years of not seeing your bestfriend? Really?"
"Okay, I'm sorry for leaving you without an explanation and I missed you so much BUT WE CAN TALK WHEN WE ARE SAFE IN THE CAMP"
"DON'T SCREAM AT ME"
"MOVE YOUR ASS, KIM MINGYU"
His scent was so strong and it was driving crazy the monsters in the area. Mingyu was shocked, he was in front of a white pegasus and you were telling him to ride it.
When the furies came to kill you two, you reached for your bow and started to shoot them while Mingyu pinched his cheeks.
"His name is Hyacinth and he will take you to the camp. See you there"
And your pegasus started to fly away from the battle with Mingyu in his back.
Three months later, Mingyu was one more of the family. His brothers helped him a lot with tips and new artefacts to use. Three months later, his stupid crush on you came back to haunt him in the quiet nights.
He wanted to confess, really, but he was so shy and thought that you will reject him because first, you were so fucking amazing basically you were the best son of Apollo, second for his fault your bow broke in the battle with the furies and it was so special to you because it was a gift from your finale.
"Make a new bow for him" Said one of his sisters, trying to cheer him up. "I'm sure that he will love it"
Tumblr media
"Seriously, I can't do this" Mingyu says while three of his brothers and two of his sisters were pushing him towards the shed. "He is going to reject me and then he will kill me"
"Oh my goodness, you're so stupid. He loves you, bro"
"She is right, the hearts in his eyes when he looks at you are pretty disgusting"
"If you die I want your bed" Mingyu squeeze the bow he made for you harder.
"Shut up, dumb. Don't scare him. Everything will be alright, go get him tiger!!"
They push him in the shed and close the door so he can't run away. You're brushing the hair of your pegasus while humming a song. When Hyacinth see him, he hide the bow in his back and smile nervous.
"Hi..."
"Hey, Mingyu" You say, approaching him with Hyacinth in your side. "What do you hide in your back?"
"Oh, this? Well..." He give you the bow with trembling hands. "I feel bad because you broke your bow for protecting me from that things an-and..." He stops talking when he struggles with his words. "You know Hephaestus made the bows for Apollo and Artemis, and I thought that you would like a bow from a son of Hephaestus..."
You take the bow from his hands and you look at it while Hyacinth go with Mingyu. The bow is light like a feather, it's covered in gold like your father's bow and at the ends it has small knives that can be used for melee fights.
"You... You like it?"
"I don't like it..." Mingyu feels shame travel through his veins but he smiles like a little kid when you finish the sentence. "I love it, from now on this will be my ultimate weap-"
You get silence because, from one second to another, he lost his balance and landed his hands on your shoulders.
"I'm... I'm so sorry... I-I was playing with Hyacinth and he push me with his wings to you and I..."
"Mingyu"
"I didn't know pegasus were so strong..." He continues rambling and you turn your eyes with a smile.
"Mingyu"
"So, I'm so happy that you like my gift, I mean the bow that I made for you because you break the last one. Don't think that I gifts you the bow because I like you or something simil-"
Before you can ever think, you lean over and capture Mingyu's lips with yours.
He responds after a moment, and it's like a fire has been lit inside of him. He wraps his arms around you, pulling you closer.
"You talk so much" Breathlessly, you pull back a little.
"I'm sorry" Mingyu runs his hands up and down your back soothingly. "You make me more nervous than normal"
You reach up to cup his cheek.
"Thank you for the bow, is amazing"
"You shouldn't thank me for that. It's the very least I can do for you"
He smiles as he lean into your touch. For one moment, he feels completely comfortable, completely safe and completely happy.
Tumblr media
Mingyu purposely puts his sweatshirts in your closet so you'll wear them.
Sometimes you think Hyacinth likes him more than you.
You can rely on him 24/7 and vice versa.
"When you can't look on the bright side, I will sit with you in the dark"
Looks at you with his puppy eyes when he wants something from you.
HE IS SO SOFT.
"If I had to choose between loving you and breathing I would use my last breath to say I love you"
You need to force him to sleep because he's always in the forge.
Cheeks kisses are huge and get him blushing. Sometimes, he hugs you from behind and just stays there till you slap him.
Cooks for you because he says everything you cook is horrible.
A little bit overprotective.
Your dad loves him so much, he embarrassed you all the time. In the other hand, you're a afraid of Hephaestus for his looks but he is kind with you.
"Awww, look at my son's boyfriend"
"Dad, leave him alone"
"You're so adorable I just want to squeeze you forever you're like a little puppy"
"DAD!"
"Look at them Hephaestus, they're so cute"
Loves to fantasize about the future.

You once said you imagine Matthew suffering from asthma, didn't you? Could you write something in which Matthew tries to hide feeling unwell during a hike because he doesn't want to slow down the others (and then, Arthur's intervention and talk to make him understand that he needs to take care of himself and there's nothing bad if he can't keep the same pace as healthy people and so on)? Only if you feel like it, though. I understand this might hit a bit too close home...
You’ve got it, anon! I’m going to give Matthew moderate persistent asthma because that’s the type I have so it’s just easier for me to write. Sorry for the bias. xD
This is the last drabble for today! Thank you guys for reading them!
Pacing Yourself
Words: 1644
It’s not that Matthew doesn’t like physical activity.
Physical activity just doesn’t like him.
It doesn’t take very much at all to get his asthma to flare up. He’s at a point where he’s using his rescue inhaler twice a day, and that’s without regular exercise.
If he’s going to be entirely honest, it’s mostly his own fault – he hasn’t been taking his preventer inhaler for over a month now, and his parents have no idea. Each morning and night, he goes into the bathroom and pretends to take a puff of medicine, spraying it into the air instead of actually inhaling it. He stopped taking it because it was giving him headaches and making him lose his voice. And well, if anyone finds out, he’ll be in a lot of trouble…
So, when his parents announce that they’re all going hiking, he’s not exactly looking forward to it.
He steathily takes two puffs of albuterol before they arrive at the hiking trail, hoping that’ll prep his lungs sufficiently for what’s to come. All he has to do is follow everyone else’s pace, and he doubts they’re going to go very fast, so he’ll be fine, surely. Dad and Papa aren’t that athletic to begin with.
“Arthur, stop being ridiculous. Leave the backpack in the car. It’s going to be a hassle to carry.”
“You won’t be saying that when you want an extra bottle of water or need bug spray,” Dad huffs at Papa, slinging the black backpack in question over his shoulders. “Ready? Lead the way.”
Papa rolls his eyes, pulls out the map he printed out the night before, and starts guiding them down the trail.
“Matthew, wait one second, love,” Dad calls out to him, and Matthew stops in his tracks with a frown.
“Yeah?”
“Just a gentle reminder that you should let us know if you need to stop and take a break at any point.”
It makes Matthew furious to be treated like he’s fragile. “I’ll be fine.”
“There’ll be a lot of pollen – did you take your antihistamine this morning?”
“Yes,” he lies, blood boiling.
“And you have your rescue inhaler with you?”
“Yeah, I’m not a little kid. I’m thirteen.”
Dad raises a brow at him and looks like he’s going to reprimand him for his tone, but he simply says, “Okay – just wanted to make sure.”
Matthew pointedly zips in front of Dad and starts walking alongside Alfred. They start off at a small incline, walking through a valley that leads up the mountain. Other families are milling about. A lot of the kids are younger than he is, and they seem to be managing just fine.
Progressively, the dirt path becomes more rugged, and they have to start going up a steep set of rocks. The sun becomes almost completely blocked by the thick canopy of trees above him, and Matthew can see the dust, pollen, and bugs moving through the air in front of him. Suddenly, he feels very claustrophobic, and he can feel his body start to become fatigued. He takes a sip of water and keeps walking, assuring himself that he simply has to warm his body up to the idea of hiking and that the increasing tightness in his chest and mucus build-up in his throat and airways will go away.
After just twenty minutes, his lungs burn. It’s not fair – everyone else looks barely out of breath. He doesn’t see a single bead of sweat on his brother’s forehead.
What is wrong with him? Is he really that much of a weakling? He can do better. He can be normal. He just has to push through it…No excuses.
He clears his throat in an attempt to get rid of the blockade of mucus impeding his breathing. Dad is just behind him, and Alfred and Papa are a few yards ahead.
“Are you all right, Matthew?”
“Yes,” he says, but he feels the urge to cry. He’s not even sure he’s going to be able to make it to the end of the trail at this rate. “I’m fine.”
To prove he’s strong, he jogs forward and tries to catch up to Alfred and Papa. He hops over a few large rocks, and leaves Dad in the distance, trying to separate himself from him as much as possible. He doesn’t need a babysitter. He’s got everything under control.
“Oh, hey, Mattie!” Alfred says when he finally makes it back to his side. “This is kinda fun, huh?”
No. Not at all.
“Yeah, totally,” Matthew says with a forced smile. “Race you to the top?”
“You’re on, bro!”
“Mathieu, are you sure that’s a good idea?” Papa asks, but Matthew has already bounded onward with his twin, leaving his papa’s concerns to fall on deaf ears.
He’s able to keep up with Alfred’s quick pace for about five minutes. After that, his body starts giving out and his lungs feel like they're on fire. He starts panting as they reach a small clearing, and Alfred shoots him a concerned look.
“You okay?”
Matthew doubles over and braces his hands on his knees, now gasping for breath. He takes his rescue inhaler out of his pocket and takes two puffs, shaking.
Alfred puts a reassuring hand on his shoulder and shouts, “GUYS! MATT’S NOT FEELING WELL!”
Dad and Papa arrive on the scene, and both of them look extremely worried, which makes Matthew want to dissolve into a million pieces and disappear. He coughs freely now that he’s been caught and lets a few tears escape his eyes. Once again, he’s proven that he’s weak.
Dad sits him on a nearby boulder to rest and crouches down in front of him. “Did you take your inhaler, love?”
Matthew nods and angrily swipes at his eyes. He wants to die.
Dad takes the backpack off of his shoulders, unzips it, and pulls out a stethoscope.
“You brought your stethoscope into the woods?” Papa asks in disbelief.
“Of course, I did,” Dad huffs, putting the buds in his ears before setting the diaphragm on Matthew’s back. He listens for a moment and then instructs, “Take two more puffs of your inhaler for me, poppet.”
Matthew does as he’s told and coughs again, practically choking on the mucus build-up. Fortunately, the extra dose helps, and he’s able to regulate his breathing after a few more moments.
Dad places his stethoscope on his back again, seems satisfied with his findings, and says, “I need you to be completely honest with me – have you been taking your preventer medication?”
“N-No,” Matthew admits before bursting into tears. “I hate the way it makes me feel.”
Dad sighs, places his stethoscope back in his bag, and says, “You know it’s very important to take your medicine, Matthew. You could become seriously ill without it. And I told you that you shouldn’t push yourself. It’s okay to take breaks when you need to.”
“I didn’t want everyone waiting for me.“
“Don’t worry about others having to wait. You have to take care of yourself first, love, and if you need to stop, that’s completely fine. This isn’t a marathon,” Dad explains, brushing Matthew’s hair out of his eyes. “Your health is what’s most important.”
“It’s embarrassing.”
“No, it’s not,” Dad says firmly. “No one is going to think any less of you for setting your own pace.”
“Yes, they will!” Matthew shouts. “Everyone at school stares at me! Nobody wants me on their team at gym class because I suck! You don’t know what that’s like! And it bothers me every day! I can’t do anything normally!”
Dead silence fills the clearing. Alfred and Papa uncomfortably shuffle their feet and stand off to the side as Dad’s frown becomes deeper.
Dad pulls Matthew into a protective hug and tells him, “Your asthma isn’t well-controlled because you’re not taking your preventer medication. We can get it under control and you'll feel better – not perfect or cured, but better, and then, you’ll be able to do more without as many symptoms. Please, don’t hide things from us, Matthew. If you had told me you didn’t like the medication you were put on, then we could have worked something out and found you a new medication. Completely stopping your medicine is never a good idea. You don’t want to end up having a severe asthma attack and being hospitalized.”
Matthew lowers his head in shame and rubs his eyes again.
“And anyone who makes any snide remarks or tries to make you feel bad about your condition is just revealing that they have an ugly character and aren’t worth your time. If your body is telling you it needs to rest, then listen to it…How are you feeling now?”
“Better,” Matthew whispers.
“Are you feeling well enough to continue the hike or do you want to go back to the car with me?”
“I want to finish the hike,” he decides, determined.
“Okay, but you’re walking alongside me the rest of the way, and you’re going to take it slow, understood?”
“Yeah.”
“And if anyone ever makes you feel judged again, what are you going to do?”
Alfred waves one fist in the air and answers for him. “Tell them to get lost or your brother will beat them up!"
Dad rolls his eyes and laughs before standing and helping Matthew up. "Or, better yet, you ignore them. We love you very much and want you to stay healthy and safe. Everything else is secondary."
"Thanks, guys…"
"Anytime. We’re here for you. Always,” Alfred assures, giving him a playful little nudge in the shoulder.
Papa hugs him next and says, “Please take care of yourself, Mathieu.”
“It’ll get better, don’t worry,” Dad promises, patting his back. “We’ll work on it."
He hopes his father is right.

Doctor Who - Earthshock Live Review
So I have my crisps and lemonade and im ready to continue my journey through classic who - idk why I just started live blogging it...
• People are climbing
• So they've found something- an alien I'm assuming- why do humans always tamper with things we shouldn't
• Oh they haven't found something theyre looking for people
• I hate how classic who drags on so slowly
• Sinister music
• 'probably nothing" foreshadowing...
• Okay get to the killing already
• YES FINALLY HELLO DOCTOR
• Wow I forget they must have their own rooms in the Tardis
• Lots of books in Adrics room
• "why should that interest me" ooh okay Adric getting a bit sassy
• Why's he fed up
• looool "I'm tired of being considered a joke" "why am I being constantly teased" maybe because you're annoying and you make sexist remarks?
• oh chill
• The doctor don't have time to deal with this
• aww okay Adric being jealous that Nyssa and Tegan get more attention from the doctor than him is kinda cute
• 'I give you my word' 'just as you gave your word to Tegan" okaaaaay go off (spoiler alert) ik Adric dies in this because I saw a spoiler so this is very sad foreshadowing that the doctor will break his word to Adric about making time for him- kinda sad
• I hate the celery stick
• okay Adric kick off
• Doctor can't take criticism which is interesting because the last time he was probably ever blamed for something was One with Barbara and Ian. I don't remember any companion ever criticizing him like this before
• 'Well it can wait' you'll regret that
• "I'm tired of being an outsider" this would make sense if we had seen him being an outsider before - in my opinion Tegan is the outsider as she's new and not as mathematically advanced as the others. also I would say that Adric is the closest to the doctor out of all 3 so his point isn't really valid
• I guess this is the writers way of making adrics death more tragic
• ooh Adrics theme
• I swear he was an outsider amongst his own people too
• 'the tools would go missing" why do these people never take the hint
• forgot Adric was from e space- tbh what was the doctors plan when he did demand to go home eventually- did he wanna travel with him till he died?
• "e space is another universe, there isn't a taxi service that goes back and forth"
• Romana mention!
• "im not waiting around while you plot the course to your own destruction" the doctor has never experienced a companion death before - also foreshadowing
• "you know I think since his regeneration he's become decidedly immature" this is funny also like 4 was soooo mature
• I like Adric and Five's relationship
• the actor who plays Adric has gone better
• Nyssa is the most mature out of this entire group
• "breathe deeply and relax" why is Tegan a meditation instructer out of nowhere
• the doctor didn't take much convincing
• lol the doctor bopping Tegans nose was cute
• Ooh Dinosaur bones
• let me guess - the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs was an alien spaceship or aliens killed them
• Someone screamed
• Ooh yeah she be dead
• Okay the villains look like they're wearing gimp costumes
• Reminds me of American Horror Story Murder House & the leather monster
• Aah doctor who giving a lesson on how the dinosaurs were killed. We love a show that educates
• Did I mention how much I hate the celery stick because I hate it honestly whose idea was it
• Bro chill why is this man grabbing the doctor like that what he do
• Calm the fuck down mate
• Gimp people be shooting
• Okay they may be androids but they'll always be gimp people to me
• Android vision
• CYBERMEN!!!! DAMN
• Why they gotta hit us with the plot twist like that i wasn't ready
• The Cybermen looks sad
• Hehehe the face is funny
• Gimps be strong
• Why do the Cybermen sound muffled
• I find it more creepy when they have human voices than Robots because it makes It more real that these machines have humans in them
• hHaven't seen them in some time
• I love Tegans sarcasm
• I'm cracking up at the Cybermen voice
• 1 gimp down 1 to go
• tThe gimps be dead
• 'prepare to activate the devise" dun dun DUN
• Damn the Cybermen be skinny
• I'm bored i want doctor/cybeman action
• Okay it's getting intense
• Cybermen be SHOOK
• "cyber technology is too advanced for earthlings" figure it out then mate
• He's recognised the Tardis
• THE BEST DIALOGUE "TIME LORDS, BUT THEYRE FORBIDDEN TO INTERFERE"
• THIS ONE CALLS HIMSELF THE DOCTOR, AND DOES NOTHING BUT INTERFERE
• YESS PREVIOUS DOCTORS VS CYBERMEN
• I'm geeking out
• Imma watch this bit a few times hang on
• Aah I loved that it was so cool bloody hell I'm a nerd
• The 2nd Cybermen looked shocked while he was watching
• "have you no emotions sir" classic
• "Adric do you have a moment" "I'm hungry" Okay I like him in this one he's a mood. Why is he suddenly likeable the ep he dies
• "all part of the daily routine" see what I mean
• Well your daily routine Is gonna end soon
• He doesn't wanna go home!!
• Doctor is relieved it's cute
• Ah this is sad
• It would be easier if i didn't know he was gonna die
• Cos I do like their relationship
• Okay we're being introduced to new people
• "you're beginning to bore me" the writers knew
• I'm trying really hard to concentrate I've zoned out
• Ah the doctor has got my attention "I want to announce my presence, see what the reaction is" course
• aaaand the doctor is caught and he's being accused for murder again
• Don't they have cctv just check it
• "apprehended why can't he just say caught" me in English classes
• 'even under the threat of death he has the arrogance of a time lord"
• I thought Cybermen had no emotions but this Cybermen just said he wants the doctor to suffer for their past defeats - revenge is an emotion which is v ironic
• Hh SHIT the Cybermen are walking
• lol tegan " im just a mouth and legs" she's such a mood
• The Cybermen music is cool
• The doctors face when he sees them
• Aah the soldier has betrayed them
• Why is it that whenever there's a women in charge the men who is second can't handle it and goes rogue
• iIt's such a typical trope
• The dialogue for the doctor is great
• "you know them"
• "oh yes, we go back a long way"
• Haha "I'm surprised they didn't mention me" 'well perhaps you overestimate your importance" "oh I doubt it" doctor is and will always be that bitch
• The doctor is doing doctory things
• "that's very clever" "oh it is" the doctor bragging about how clever he is starts here
• Damn tegan she just shot a Cyberman
• Flashback to "the doctor makes people into weapons"
• Finally the doctor vs Cybermen showdown
• Lol I knew they would kill the betrayer
• "our records indicate that you have a fondness for earth" (especially earth girls)
• "this time we shall succeed in destroying the earth" no you won't mate
• Ah the Cybermen coming out of plastic Wrap is a throwback to the 2nd Doctor Cybermen story
• Tegan looks like a badass with the gun
• So they're destroying the leaders of various planets before they destroy the Cybermen
• Tegan has no idea what she's doing
• I love how Five says the most savage lines with the most polite tone
• He could tear you down and look like he's complimenting you
• Tegan has been caught
• Cyberman in the Tardis is weird
• 'who is this woman' - 'no-one of consequence' - 'thanks a lot - gotta love Tegan
• Okay wow that scene between the doctor and the Cyberman about emotions gave me goose bumps what a thrilling scene
• The Cybermen has a point- he can control the doctor because he has emotions
• I'll never get tired of the debate about emotions between them because it genuinely feels like the Cyberman defend the concept of having no emotions to defend their existence
• Five looks hot when he's defending emotions
• Fuck they need to leave Adric behind
• Shit I'm getting nervous
• His theme is playing!
• The Doctor looks conflicted
• Adric leaving his hand out after the doctor let go...
• "I'll see you soon" this is the actors best performance because you can see in his eyes he knows he won't
• The Doctor has never had a companion die before so he walks away without looking back
• "it will once you start getting rusty" Tegan is funny
• Adric is plotting
• The Cybermen say they have no emotions but forcing Tegan watch her own planet getting destroyed is extremely sadistic
• Clever Adric
• The Earth looks different
• Okay so Adric's cleverness is what gets him killed because he knows he can crack the code
• The Dinosaurs! I knew it!
• Oh crap Earth is safe but Adric doesn't know that
• I think this comes down to Adric wanting the doctors attention and wanting to be the best to have his attention
• The Doctor has his pin!
• Five suffocating and shooting a Cyberman is shocking to see
• Adric whyyyyyy
• This Cyberman walking towards him is bloody persistent
• "Now I'll never know if i was right" such Adric last words
• Id like to believe he was
• Damn.
• The Doctors face. The fact that it could have been avoided if he just left the ship
• Adric is the first companion that died on the Doctor's watch
• Adric died thinking the Earth was going to be destroyed and he could have stopped it
• The credits!! his gold star! the silence! this must have been a shock to the viewers. If i didn't know beforehand through spoilers I would be going crazy
• Earthshock had it's ups and downs, the downs in regards to the pace of the plot however the story was good and the Cybermen were fantastic especially their interactions against the doctor. Tegan and Adric were great. Nyssa didn't really have much to do. Davison was amazing. I liked the writing.
• Also I liked the structural shift of the story to the cave androids to the bomb to the spaceship to dealing with The Cybermen to saving Earth and then to Adrics death

*skids in to your ask box at the speed of light upon reading you want prompts* !!! I am so on board with this! Is there anyway you could try Nishimura and Kitamura finding out Natsume can see yokai and just being amazing bros? Or the Fujiwara's for the same thing? Natsume deserves all the love! Thank you very much if you choose to write this. I can't wait to see you in the Natsuyuu fandom more!!!!
x
It starts with the piece of paper Nishimura finds on the floor. He pauses right before he might have stepped on it, and stoops to pick it up instead.
It’s a pencil drawing, a circle with odd lines and symbols clustered around the edges and what looks like an open eye in the middle. There’s some notes scribbled out to one side of the drawing, and Nishimura blinks. Turns the paper over in his hands and blinks at it some more.
Kitamoto sounds long-suffering when he says, “What are you doing?”
“I found something cool. Can I keep this?”
“No. Someone might come looking for it,” his friend says without missing a beat. “Quit just taking stuff you find.”
“Ugh, come on, I don’t do that.” Nishimura glances around for a moment, and his eyes light on the pen on Natsume’s desk. He leans over to snatch it up victoriously, and then stutters a little at the pointedly incredulous look on Kitamoto’s face. “Wha–Natsume doesn’t care!”
“Will you just–”
“Shh. I have to concentrate.”
The point of the pen is hard and dull as it drags across the palm of Nishimura’s hand, and each line it leaves feels sore on his skin. But it’s only the work of a minute or two, and Nishimura leans back to tuck the pen safely into Natsume’s bag when he’s finished.
“There,” he says, holding his hand up with a flourish. “Now I have my own cool circle and I don’t need this other one.” Nishimura turns to shoot his best friend his most winning smile, and a peace sign for good measure.
Kitamoto is giving him a Look, capital L, but all he says is, “Try putting half this much effort into your homework sometime. Your grades will be five times better, and I’ll finally stop hearing about all your failed cram school conquests.”
Nishimura puts the paper on the windowsill near the spot he found it, where hopefully its owner might come across it, and forgets about the whole thing in favor of chasing Kitamoto out of the room with an outraged squawk.
Lunch is nearly over when Natsume comes back into the classroom–he stops at the door to smile a soft goodbye at Tanuma, happy and with healthy color in his face. Nishimura leans forward on his desk, fingers curled eagerly around the diagram on his palm, and opens his mouth around the beginnings of Natsume’s name.
But he stops, as abruptly as slamming full-speed into a brick wall. And stares. And stares some more, because there’s no way he’s seeing this right.
There’s something on Natsume’s back.
Natsume doesn’t seem to notice, making his way calmly across the room. There’s–it has emaciated, ash-gray arms wrapped around Natsume’s neck and shoulders, a dark head of long, tangled hair–
No one else sees it? No one?
Gnarled hands are so close to Natsume’s throat, dirty fingernails scraping against his collarbone, and he greets Nishimura in the same quiet way he always does, stopping beside his own desk to shove a handful of papers into his bag.
The thing on his back turns its head, very slowly, and Nishimura doesn’t know how its seeing past all that hair, but he knows its looking at him. He knows it is. And it clings to Natsume that much tighter, like algae, hair curling around Natsume’s forearms like limp bracken at the edge of a pond, and Nishimura shoots to his feet.
His chair clatters back, and only a few people turn to look at him before turning away again because when isn’t he doing weird stuff, but this is different, this is Natsume, and there’s something on his back.
“Natsume, just–hold–hold still, okay?”
How is he supposed to get rid of it? It’s staring at him again from that sightless face, chilling him straight to the bone, and Nishimura would be the happiest ever if he could just cover his eyes for the rest of the school day and pretend its not there, but it–but Natsume–
“Get off him,” Nishimura demands and his voice comes out stronger than he thought it would. He’s weak with terror but he stands his ground; stomping down every insistent shred of self preservation and common sense in his brain urging him to back away, and glares at the dark thing hanging off his friend’s shoulders instead. His hands are shaking. “Don’t–don’t you dare hurt him. Or I’ll–I’ll–I’ll call an exorcist! Don’t even try me!”
Then he hears Natsume saying his name, in the tone of voice of someone who’s been saying his name over and over. Gentle fingers nudge Nishimura’s face gently a few inches to the left.
Natsume’s amber eyes are stunned, deeper and darker and brighter than Nishimura has ever seen before. There’s something stark in his expression that isn’t quite wonder, and isn’t quite fear, and isn’t quite hope.
The teacher is coming back into the room, and everyone else is settling into their seats, so Natsume takes a step back and lets him go.
But his fingers were warm, and his voice is kind even for all its caution when he says, “It’s okay. She won’t hurt you.”
He sounds so certain, so sure, that the leaping panic in Nishimura’s chest recedes into something less painful. The thing on Natsume’s back curls in a little closer, a little tighter, tapered fingers finding firm footholds in Natsume’s uniform jacket. And Nishimura blinks at the two of them.
Nods once. Falls back into his seat with a thump that hurts a little.
Natsume turns his chair sideways before he sits down, putting the backrest toward the window. The thing on his back stays there, bunched up against his spine, as though Natsume’s body heat and heartbeat are a precious balm that soothes and soothes.
Nishimura holds out his hand, palm up. The copied circle sits proudly between the two of them, followed by a thick, heavy silence.
Natsume, when Nishimura risks a glance at him, looks like he isn’t sure whether to laugh or cry.
“Maybe don’t draw strange symbols that you find thrown away on your body,” he finally says, with a pinch of reluctant good humor that does wonders for the overall mood. Nishimura can feel his heart getting lighter with just at a peek of that recalcitrant smile on his friend’s pale face. “Or–anywhere else. Ever again. Okay?”
“Okay.” That sounds like solid advice.
“At least I can tell Taki her new diagram worked. Make sure you wash it off when you get home.”
The thing from Natsume’s back is tucked into his arms now, little more than a bundle of torn yukata and bramble-like black hair. They’re walking together, slow, the long way back to Natsume’s house, and Nishimura can’t keep his eyes off the thing for more than a few seconds at a time.
“So,” he finally says, waving his unmarked hand vaguely. “What is–”
“Her name is Yumemi,” Natsume says. “She drowned. She’s just a little lonely. I promise she won’t hurt you.”
It takes Nishimura a moment to swallow that. Natsume doesn’t seem to mind the quiet, hefting Yumemi up in his thin, strong arms, a little closer to his heart. Nishimura watches them both, fingers curled around the ink on his hand, and starts running a mental race.
The first time he saw Natsume outside of school, walking home with Kitamoto, Natsume was running through the forest with all the desperation of someone in real danger.
A few months later, in their classroom at the end of the day, Natsume had choked mid-word and scrambled against his throat at nothing, face flushing a dusky red as though he really couldn’t breathe–he seemed to come up off the ground, even, as though an invisible hand had yanked him off his feet.
He got hurt at the cultural fair two weeks ago, and again at the inn Tanuma’s relatives owned, and trouble seems to follow him everywhere he goes, with every step he takes.
And maybe, Nishimura sort of always figured there was more to it than just bad luck. No one as nice as Natsume could have that much karma stacked against them. Ghosts and monsters, on the other hand?
“That makes sense,” Nishimura says, realization dawning. Natsume looks at him sideways. “Sorry, I was just–thinking.”
“Don’t hurt yourself,” Natsume says dryly, then abruptly looks mortified at himself. But–um, wow? Nishimura grins at him, delighted. Who knew Natsume was sarcastic under all that soft and sweet? Kitamoto isn’t going to believe this.
“Man, you’re really in your element right now, huh?” Nishimura says, unable to help teasing–especially when Natsume’s face turns pink. “There’s like, this whole new side to you I never knew about. A sassy alter-ego. Incredible.”
Natsume doesn’t have any hands free to hide his face, so his flush is free for the world to see, and he snaps, “How does Kitamoto put up with you?” but there’s no heat to it. Nishimura throws an arm around him, beaming, and looks down a little at where he imagines Yumemi’s eyes might be lurking beneath all that hair.
“Sorry I was mean to you earlier,” he says ruefully, trying not to think too hard about a drowned girl leeching comfort and warmth off of a kind human boy. It’s really not the time or place to start crying, really, and Nishimura knows he totally will later–when he’s alone in his room ignoring his phone and his family and his homework, digesting all the wild events of this afternoon. “But not everybody’s nice to this guy, you know? Gotta look out for him when I can.”
Natsume almost trips, and maybe he would have if Nishimura didn’t have a grip on his shoulders. But he does, and his fingers fold tight into the back of Natsume’s shirt, and he holds on the whole way home.
Yumemi looks like she understands. Her eyes, when she waves goodbye to him at Natsume’s door, are a very pretty blue.
“Satoru,” his mother calls up the stairs, “dinner is ready!”
“I’ll be right down!” Nishimura yells back through his bedroom door, but he doesn’t rush.
Slowly, painstakingly, he finishes tracing over the fading ink on his hand with a brand new ballpoint pen he bought from the convenience store before he got home. Examining his palm with a critical eye, Nishimura decides the circle looks a little better this time, the lines less shaky and the symbols more certain.
Nishimura blows on it until it dries, then pushes away from his desk and thumps down the stairs to join his family at the table.
