New World Headquarters for the Research Commission, Formation of The Hunter’s Guild: The Settlement of Astera or The Settlement of Astera or Astera (Monster Hunter: World) made by hand primarily from paper (also floral wire, toothpicks, epoxy resin) 28” x 20” diameter

My largest miniature yet and certainly the most densely constructed. This piece took me 5 months, chipped through well over 1k blades, 4 pads of bristol paper, countless sheets of cardstock, 3 bottles of glue, 48 LEDs, and a liter of clear cast resin. For scale photo scroll all the way down!

I have been working on some of my models recently. I’ve been chipping away at an M1A2 abrams.

And I really like how it has gone. Not quite done yet, still want to do weather on top surfaces and add tarps, but is looking great.

It’s also fun to compare this to an abrams I did almost ten years ago. One of my very first complicated models.

And I have definitely improved a lot since then. The tan abrams is falling apart whenever I touch it and the paint job is awful. But have to start somewhere.

And a final one on a diorama I made awhile ago. Barely able to fit the abrams, but still looks cool.

Another railroad diorama from the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, I really appreciate how dirty this scene in, catching the nature of the coal transport, along with the little details of the coal chutes and graffiti. The story this scene is telling is magnificent.

St. Clair Northern

Irv Schulz’s HO gauge St. Clair Northern layout is a beautiful example of the Great Lakes hauling railroads of the 1890s. The structures are authentic for the 1890s, and the locomotives and rolling stock are all based on actual 1890s railroad equipment. Notice Irv’s beautiful scratch built ships. They are accurate representative models of the real ships that once hauled iron ore on the Great Lakes.
