Happy STS! I hope you’ve had a good week :) what kind of clothing do your OCs wear? Do they have a fixed aesthetic, or do they just wear whatever they feel like wearing?
A belated happy STS to you too, Captain! And I am so overjoyed you asked me this question, because I love talking about my characters' clothing!
Jade Shaw is a grown-up goth chick. She wears a lot of black and purples, and generally wears dresses or skirts unless it's not practical to do so. As an adult she'll buy whatever cheap thing with skulls or pentagrams she finds online.
(please see @artbyeloquent's amazing depiction of Jade in such an outfit)
Caz Mraz insists that, unlike other vampires, he's never gotten stuck in a certain era, but all his outfits are pretty reminiscent of the 1940s Rat Pack era of Las Vegas (as well as the flamboyant outfits of mobsters like Bugsy Siegal). So lots of nice suits, often three-piece ones, with ties and handkerchiefs and a fedora-style hat (and a pair of nice wing-tips). He especially likes grays and blues, but he'll wear just about any color that looks good on his pasty body.
One of my favorite descriptions of their outfits:
“Why are you dressed like that?” she asked, when he finally strolled up. “I told you this was a party.”
He glanced down at the thatched pattern overlaying his gray, three-piece suit. A navy-colored tie was tucked neatly into the vest, paired with a shirt in robin’s-egg blue. It was a good suit and — dare he say it — very flattering on him, and he said so to Jade.
The witch locked her truck and fixed him with a glare that should have burned the clothes right off him.
“Do you not own a pair of jeans and a t-shirt?” she asked.
“What am I, a house-painter?” he replied.
He had nothing against house-painters, but Caz had earned his last coin with manual labor nearly 600 years ago, and intended to keep it that way.
Jade started down the sidewalk without him.
“Maybe you’re just jealous I can pull off this print,” he said, following behind like her stretched shadow. “Or that this shirt brings out my eyes.”
“Your eyes are silver,” she said.
That shut him up. After all these years, he still forgot his eyes had been drained of their color. Leave it to Jade to unknowingly sink her claws right where it smarted.
“You look nice,” he eventually said, since he could never shut up for long.
She really did. Jade tended to wrap herself in black dresses or skirts and various trinkets. Whether that was to mark her status as a witch or not, he didn’t know, but it certainly made her fearsome. She had once mentioned allegiance with one of the forces that sacked Rome. It fit. When Caz had first seen Jade — her lips and eyes painted black, the tattoo on her shoulder, the metal stud through her mouth — he would have offered his head on a platter if she invaded his village.
Tonight she was wearing a black dress with straps that formed a pattern over bronze flesh, and her lips were purplish in color. Her eyes, as always, were that dark amber. They were burning into him now in response to his comment.
#ask#captain kraken#something wicked#jade shaw#caz mraz#i could go on about other characters' clothing but theirs are the most distinct

Merry Christmas, @ladymatt!
*****
Take me to dinner first
Magnus Bane had taken a trip with some of his friends to Las Vegas and, while they had retired earlier, he’d stayed out, getting steadily drunker. The casino, Devil’s Snare, was a downworld place, so he had no reason to hide himself. Even better, shadowhunters were a rare sight. In his drunk state, he’d gambled a little; won some, lost some…won big. He would be thankful the fey didn’t rule the casino if he had enough mind to.
Eventually, he took a break in the fancy lounge, cocktail in front of him and some actually good music playing above him. He was still drunk, but not in the way that would have him flying carpets or flirting with a dinner plate. Ah, good times with his friends, even if one of them was a grumpy cabbage. He was about to take a sip of his drink when three black-clad figures entered the room.
Shadowhunters.
They always had a knack of spoiling the atmosphere, even if they were usually rather attractive. All young, one female and two males. The girl strode through the room seeming to lead the boys, one of which guided the second one after her. He found himself staring a little at the one being guided; he had dark hair and was quite tall. On closer inspection, he had the most gorgeous blue eyes.
This was how he found himself suddenly with the girl in front of him; he hadn’t noticed that she had stopped at his table. Ah, he recognised her. Isabelle Lightwood. Party crasher.
“Magnus Bane! Thank the Angel for a familiar face. Look, I know this is a bit of an unreasonable request, but we don’t have time to come up with a better plan. My brother’s drink was spiked by something and we’ve just received a call, an emergency demon hunting. Can you look after him? I know you’re trustworthy, which is why we came to you. We’ll pay you afterwards, we just need to go now,” Isabelle explained.
Magnus blinked at her and looked over at the unsteady young man. He shrugged and gestured for her to sit him down at his table. The young man protested a bit, but it was clear he was in no fit state and finally calmed after listening to his sister. The blond one gave him a look before the two dashed off to play hero.
He turned his attention back to the shadowhunter in front of him, stirring his drink absently. Those blue eyes were staring back at him; no haughty glare he would expect from Nephilim, no suspicion, just…dazed curiosity. Of course, the substance in his system could be preventing him from a usual hostility, but he didn’t care to think too hard. He couldn’t, really, being hazy himself.
“Something the matter, darling?” He asked, wondering exactly how far gone the young man was.
Eyes blinking, embarrassment and a blush filled his face as he looked away, becoming fidgety. It was both awkward and cute, and Magnus never thought he’d think those words about a shadowhunter. Ever. He sipped his drink and didn’t expect anything, but he got it anyway.
“You’re…pretty. Handsome! Sorry. Handsome.”
Magnus smirked, putting his drink down before stretching his arms out a little cat-like before clasping his hands in front of him, leaning forward.
“You can call me pretty anytime, darling,” Magnus practically purred. He hadn’t been expecting such words coming from the other man. Perhaps his addled mind was deceiving him.
“Okay. I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to stare. You’re pretty. I’m sorry, Im-I’m messed—fuzzy. Bothering you, I should-should go—”
Alec started to get up and somehow managed not to be too ungraceful about it. Stupid shadowhunter runes, Magnus supposed. He downed his drink before refilling it with magic and downing it again. He was nothing if not a good host. He might as well stoop further to the young man’s level. Speaking of which, he was staring at Magnus’ hands with a dazed expression again. He could have sworn he heard a mumbled ‘pretty’. Maybe not all shadowhunters were terrible.
He stood up, knocking his chair over, and walked over to the tall shadowhunter. Only a little shorter than himself.
“Well, darling, what is your name? I could just call you pretty boy. I will anyway, there’s no lies here!” Magnus stated with flare.
“Al-Alec.”
“Well, Al-Alec, I’m Magnus and we’re going to have some fun.”
He watched the man’s eyes widen and his cheeks redden and he couldn’t help giggling. Looping an arm in Alec’s, he pulled him along. He didn’t have any particular direction at the moment; he simply took him through the building, calculating what to do with him.
They ended up at the slots and Magnus put the coins in while his new companion pulled the levers. Cherry, cherry, cherry. Did he have luck runes on? He had read the Gray Book but couldn’t recall what was in it. Strength…stabby. Oh well. He showed Alec the poker tables then. Alec was a terrible player; his poker face needed serious work for a shadowhunter. Three games and three losses.
“How about one more round? Winner takes all…plus double. Loser pays that double.”
“Gentlemen, I believe we are—” Magnus started. He doubted the shadowhunter had anymore money.
“Yes. One more. Okay.”
Well, he couldn’t call the shadowhunter a quitter. Stubborn like the rest of them. Magnus watched Alec’s terrible poker face once again as he made it obvious that his cards were awful, but still stayed all in.
“Straight flush,” the competitor revealed.
Alec looked put out before placing his cards down. “Royal flush.”
Colour him surprised, but Magnus was gleeful as he watched the wolves growl and push the winnings over to Alec, plus the double, muttering about rotten luck and poker faces. Magnus helped him over to the Madam who would cash in the winnings.
“Well, darling, you are a wonder! Was that all planned?”
“Uh, um, I guess. It’s easier if they underestimate you.”
“We are going to celebrate. Champagne? Whiskey? Cocktails?”
“Don’t mind.”
“Cocktails it is.”
Magnus ordered two sex on the beaches, one stronger for himself. He was missing the buzz. The good thing about this establishment was that it was large and had a lot to offer. Swimming was out; drunk swimming was a disaster. Karaoke! He wanted to hear Alec’s deep voice in song.
It would be a good night
Blinking his eyes open, Alec groaned; his mouth was dry, his head felt fuzzy and his cheek felt warm. He took a few moments to get his bearings, trying to figure out what was going on. He was lying down, though his pillow wasn’t soft like it should be, though it wasn’t uncomfortable either. He was topless…that was strange. Wait, his pillow seemed to be moving!
Alec shot up onto his hands, realising there was a half-naked man underneath him and they were in a large, rather fancy bed. His heart beat fast as he looked down in a mixture of confusion and mild terror. What in Raziel’s name was going on?
“Hello Sleeping Beauty.”
His eyes darted to the stranger’s face; ruffled, highlighted hair and cat eyes, handsome. That wasn’t important! He needed to find out what had happened.
“Where…why am…what are…”
He couldn’t get the words out.
“We were drunk, darling. I’m still piecing the puzzle together myself. I just need to sit up and drink a potion…would you be a doll?”
Alec rolled off him like he was burnt, covers dragged up to his chest. This was like some nightmare…no, no. If Alec was honest with himself, this was more like one of his lonely dreams. Ah. That was what this was.
“Just a dream.”
“’Fraid not, Shadowhunter. We’re very much real.”
He watched as the man sat up and conjured a potion bottle in a whisp of blue magic. He looked over at Alec, making him swallow. “Will you be needing one? For the memory, darling.”
Alec shook his head mutely. “I just…need my stele…memory rune.”
The man gave him a brilliant smile, maybe more like a smirk. “Of course, darling.”
He watched as the other man downed the small bottle before snapping it away. He snapped again and handed him his stele. Alec sat up, still convinced that this was a dream. He put the stele to a spot under his ribs where the silver of the faded Recall rune lay and put it to the skin, redrawing it. He put his stele to the side and lay back, focusing on the memories.
“Marry me,” Alec slurred.
Magnus giggled and slung his arm around him. “Gotta buy me dinner first.”
“Okay.”
Alec was clearly lost in how to get to the restaurant, so Magnus led him. There were so many foods he had never tried and that was ignoring the foods that he couldn’t eat as they were downworld-specific. They chose a few items and shared them, Magnus giggling and saying they felt like a real couple now and Alec spending most of the time spluttering and red-faced. Alec was pretty sure he was seeing double when the bill came; there were more digits added in his haze, but Magnus paid for it. Much to his protest. Wasn’t it supposed to be his treat?
But Magnus pulled him along from place to place; someone fitted him with a nice suit before he had to get into it and waited. Oh yeah. They were getting married. Handsome men didn’t just agree to marry him, so he knew he was dreaming. Therefore, he had asked Magnus to marry him.
The minstrel guy was a warlock with horns and purple eyes. Not as pretty as Magnus’, it would turn out that he said that out loud. Oops. He held Magnus’ hands, smiling at him. He had rings on his fingers, luckily none on the ring finger he’d read about in mundane books. Alec had only worn his Lightwood family ring on his right hand.
“Do you Magnus Bane take Alexander Gideon Lightwood to be your husband?” The minstrel asked.
“I do! Alexander, your middle name is Gideon?!”
Alec gestured for the minstrel to continue.
“Do you Alexander Gideon Lightwood take Magnus Bane to be your husband?”
“I do.”
“It is time to exchange rings and make your vows.”
Alec took the ring and placed it onto Magnus’ left ring finger. “I will stab anyone who tries to hurt you. With an arrow or with a dagger. I’ll protect you.”
Magnus giggled as he slid a ring on Alec’s finger too. “I’ll keep you safe, darling, and turn anyone who hurts you into a frog!”
“I now pronounce you both husbands. You may kiss.”
He leant in shyly, but Magnus took his face between his hands and kissed him. There was little elegance, but his lips were soft and his hands found Magnus’ waist, pulling him closer as he kissed his husband back. Magnus’ hands slid down until they clutched Alec’s waist.
“I have a private room, darling.”
Magnus watched Alec as the young man had his eyes closed, remembering the events of the night before. Of all of the things he had done whilst drunk, this was the most absurd. And he’d flirted with a plate and ridden a flying carpet before! He had been drunk enough to think drinking more had been a good idea, but it wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened. He hadn’t murdered anyone or stolen anything, hurt anyone.
“So, uh…”
He smiled at the shadowhunter; this was beyond anything he could have imagined doing, he could tell. Shadowhunters seemed to be very strict and to the book, though some were a little bit rebellious, one way or another. He put his hand on his shoulder in a gesture of comfort, because while he might find this situation a little funny, he knew the shadowhunter must be conflicted. Not that being married to a shadowhunter was something he would have ever foreseen or, perhaps, soberly chosen, but he chose to see the funny side.
“Such a passionate lover, Mr. Lightwood…well, Lightwood-Bane, now.”
Eyes like deer in headlights.
“I am kidding; you kissed down my chest and fell asleep before anything more sexual could happen, relax. You did not sully yourself with a downworlder quite that badly, I assure you,” Magnus said with a smirk.
“Uh…it’s not…if you were a…shadowhunter, no different…”
Eloquent. The young man was shy. He didn’t seem to have the haughty arrogance of his blond brother, so he’d perhaps cut him a little slack.
“If I were a shadowhunter, darling, I would have been de-runed and disowned years ago; I would have scandalised them from day one.”
It seemed Alec agreed with him, nodding. But there was a smile on his face, so he took that as approval.
Then he seemed to return to being embarrassed and Magnus had no problem laying there, watching him. He wasn’t exactly a huge fan of the shadowhunters, but this one seemed a bit different.
“…What do we do?” Alec asked.
“First, darling, we sleep more. It’s only 7am, far too early for a man of my delicate nature,” Magnus said.
“But—”
“I won’t keep you, but you look about ready to fall asleep yourself,” Magnus said.
He was right of course, even if the shadowhunter huffed a little. He turned onto his side and looked at him.
“I don’t suppose you’d let me use you as a pillow this time, husband?” Magnus asked. He didn’t expect a yes, but the redness in his face was worth it.
To his surprise, Alec nodded, still looking rather shocked.
Alec couldn’t believe that the handsome man he’d accidentally married wanted to…cuddle…of all things. He wasn’t really a cuddler and yet he found himself nodding. It wasn’t like they were going to stay like this and, once it was all settled, he doubted he’d see him again. He knew he wasn’t destined to be happy with a person he was attracted to, so was it wrong to…at least…pretend…for a little while?
He found himself wrapping his arms around him and closing his eyes. If he slept at all, it wasn’t for long. Something woke him and he blinked his eyes open, realising Magnus was chuckling, rubbing his arm.
“Hn?”
“Enjoying yourself?”
Alec was confused, until he realised where his hand was and moved it away like he’d been scalded, murmuring quick apologies.
“No need to apologise; it was quite enjoyable.”
As much as Alec felt surprisingly comfortable, he knew he needed to find his siblings. He wasn’t even sure where they would be and whether or not they completed their mission. He had supposed to be on it, but he must have ingested something that turned him loopy.
“I need to find my siblings,” Alec said.
Magnus moved off of him slowly and he felt a little disappointed, but he stood up, quickly finding his top. He felt a tingling and turned to see him dressed. His outfit was as outrageous as he was and yet, he didn’t dislike it.
“Fresh and ready, darling. Shall we go?”
“We…go?” Alec blinked.
“Technically, they’re my brother and sister-in-law now. Isabelle and James, right?”
“Jace. I guess.”
Alec dreaded to think about what his siblings would say, but there was nothing really to do; he had to sort this situation out as well, so it was better to not split up. They went searching, but they weren’t in their rooms, so he went down to the breakfast hall. They were there. He walked over and sat opposite them, their faces concerned.
“Where did you go?” Izzy asked. “We couldn’t find you…we searched everywhere!”
Jace glared at Magnus. “You were supposed to keep an eye on him; what did you do?”
Magnus simply shrugged and sat down too. “You’re the ones who asked a drunk warlock to watch over him, blondie; it’s bound to end in shenanigans.”
Alec blushed and tried to figure out how to address the issue at hand; he didn’t think there was any good way to do it.
“You didn’t seem drunk,” Izzy said sheepishly, looking at her brother. “I’m sorry, we had no other choice; he was the only person I recognised.”
“It’s fine, he took care of me,” Alec said.
A plate of food appeared in front of him and he looked at Magnus in surprise before murmuring a thanks, tucking in. After some silence, he looked up and realised his siblings were looking at him.
“What?”
“You’re awfully chummy,” Izzy said.
“Uh, what? We’re not—”
Magnus put an arm around his shoulders and squeezed. “We got drunk and married, then slept together. We bonded.”
“—Just sleeping,” he added quickly.
Silence fell while Alec hid his face in his hands; he wasn’t upset, it needed to be told, but it was still embarrassing. But putting his face in his hands was clearly a mistake as Izzy pulled his left hand towards her.
“Oh, Raziel! Alec, if I’d known you’d get that friendly with Magnus, I would have found someone else. I want you to get out there, but not that fast, Alec!” Izzy said.
Meanwhile, Jace was glaring at Magnus.
“We were both drunk, it was no one’s fault,” Alec said, trying to calm them down.
“Besides, we’ll meet with the minister and get this annulled. Happy ending,” Magnus said cheerfully.
“Not long eighteen and already a divorcee, brother,” Izzy chuckled.
“Annulment makes it a little different, darling. Like it never happened. Are you ready, darling?” Magnus asked.
“You’re going to have to at least give it a try first and if it doesn’t work, we’ll grant the annulment,” the minister said.
Magnus sighed; it was like something out of that Vegas movie with Cameron and Ashton something. Still, he could think of worse people to be stuck with and a handsome young man wasn’t one of them. He doubted the shadowhunter was going to be all that impressed.
“How long?” Alec asked.
“We’ll re-evaluate this case 15th January.”
Magnus dragged Alec out and sighed. “Sorry, darling, looks like you’re stuck with me for a few months.”
“It’s okay…it’s, uh, you I feel sorry for. I’m not exactly exciting.”
“You don’t seem boring to me; you haven’t once degraded my being a downworlder,” Magnus said.
“I just don’t see why that would be a problem; you’re a person t—”
Magnus couldn’t help himself, he swooped in and kissed him on the lips, pulling back with a smirk.
“Keep up that talk, sweetcheeks, and we’re going to need my room again,” Magnus purred before leading a red-faced Alec towards the lounge area where Jake looked bored and Isabelle was looking at her phone. “We’re back, did you miss us? Slight hitch—ha, pun unintended—we have to wait until the 15th January to get this annulled. Something about giving the marriage a try first.”
Magnus tuned out the noise coming from Jake, even Isabelle was perplexed, instead admiring his glittery purple nails with an outlined heart on them. Shadowhunters. Always so determined to get angry about everything. Then he looked at his sheepish ‘husband’, who seemed to break the mold of what he knew about his people. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad.
Magnus had thought too soon; while Alexander wasn’t a problematic housemate, he wasn’t without issue. He found himself worrying sometimes, especially after that one time he came home caked in blood. Alexander being who he was, tried to play it off as nothing before he stumbled. He wasn’t supposed to care this much, but Magnus had never been good at not caring about people, he was just good at hiding it.
So when his hot warrior husband stumbled into his Halloween party, gear torn up, bloodied alongside his siblings, Magnus naturally got them to the guest room quickly. Nothing too major, but they needed a little warlock TLC. After that, some tough love ie. demand they take a shower.
Needless to say, he took a long swig of his drink after that. His guests weren’t perturbed; some of them even snickered, which he rolled his eyes at. He watched as James and Isabelle made their way through the party, ending up talking to Clary and her friend Simon. He wasn’t sure how they’d found their way here, but he wasn’t a babysitter and Halloween disguised any of his guests who felt no need for glamours.
Magnus walked into the guest room; Alec’s room, for the time being, spotting him in there with a book. He leant against the door frame.
“Is my party that dull?”
“I’m…not really into parties.”
Magnus noticed Alec’s eyes were on him, taking in his skimpy outfit. Modern day Beetlejuice, except prettier and more glittery. He swayed his hips as he stepped towards him, hem of the tight trousers dangerously low, until he stood in front of a now wide-eyed Alec. He sat down next to him.
“Are you ok, sweetcheeks?” Magnus asked.
Alec laughed at his nickname before blushing even more. He was terribly adorable.
“I am…Magnus, I, uh, I was wondering…can we try this out? I mean, dating. I like you, I’d like to…take you out to dinner, properly,” Alec said.
Magnus reached over and kissed his cheek. “Yes, that would be just fine. May I kiss you, Alexander? Properly?”
Alec didn’t answer, he simply turned and kissed him, unpractised, but charming all the same.

How Do I Buy Physical Gold Bars Fast?
Investors trying to revel in the touch, experience and protection of owning gold may additionally desire to shop for gold bars as opposed to intangible investments including gold alternate-traded budget (ETFs). Physical gold can be liquidated within the not going event of a total financial fall apart.
The Gold-buying technique

Keep away from buying from dealers with documented poor comments on authenticity, exorbitant shipping and dealing with fees, and failure to deliver. Gold-to-cross ATMs are available in case you desire to shop for gold bars on the pass in cities consisting of ny, Las Vegas, Atlantic city, Dubai, or Medellin, Colombia. Purchasers are cautioned to be specially aware about the spot fee of gold given that such ATMs promote the valuable metallic properly above this price and above the expenses of most different retailers.
Purchase pure gold simplest
Investment-first-class gold bars contain about 99% pure gold. The 1% or less is an alloy, normally silver or copper, that makes smelting viable. Folks that purchase gold bullion as an investment must simplest buy a bar that functions the name of its producer, its weight and its purity, commonly expressed as ninety nine.99% stamped on the face. Popular mints that produce gold bars consist of the Royal Canadian Mint, Perth Mint, and Valcambi.
Understand the distinction between Bars and cash
While all types of 24-karat gold have good sized monetary fee, no longer all investment-nice gold is identical. From an investment angle, buyers wanting to add the physical product that tracks the charge of gold may additionally wish to avoid gold cash. These coins frequently function attractive designs, have ancient cost and incorporate a lower amount of gold, but nonetheless, price greater due to their numismatic cost.
Further to costing greater, gold cash from time to time skew the value of an investor’s portfolio. For instance, the surprisingly appeared American Eagle coin produced by using the U.S. Mint contains 91% gold however prices extra than simple gold bars because of its fee as a collector’s piece. Some traders may need collector's objects, while others might also want simple gold bars, which generally are the perfect to maintain long time and convert to coins.
Buy Gold in possible Sizes
Gold bar shoppers should do not forget the benefit with which they could liquidate the bars as a part of the shopping for technique. She will be able to sell the one-ounce bars one by one as needed, while she would possibly have a harder time finding a consumer for the ten-ounce bar if she needs to promote quickly. Conversely, thinking about the tiny length of 1-gram gold bars, buyers now and again keep up to buy bars of a greater sizeable size.
Keep round
Investors need to be privy to gold's spot charge when surfing the gold bullion market. Finance websites that display stock tickers normally show the every day price of gold. Gold is a hot commodity and fairly clean to shop for, however prices range greatly as sellers encompass their desired earnings margin plus extra prices which includes authentication certificates, transport and dealing with, and fee processing prices. A rate comparison together with the distinct dealers' prices is prime to getting the first-class charge on gold bars.
Keep away from Rip-Offs
Gold bar consumers have to assessment web sites which include the higher business Bureau and Ripoff file to examine more approximately a gold dealer’s reputation. In general, professional gold dealers have to divulge all of the fees required to close a transaction upfront. Shoppers in the united states ought to additionally do their due diligence before shopping for gold from sellers abroad. Even if the gold bars are real, seller expenses may be exorbitant, and customers may face problems clearing the gold thru customs, relying on the amount bought.

Fernando is having a great time at the coin show at Palace Station, sitting down and chatting with coin dealers from around the West Coast. He’s made sure to give a little extra support to the two coin shops in Las Vegas that he frequents who set up tables in the ballroom. You paid $6 for a Mexican one-peso coin that you have three of already, Nando. Good job.

Finding dealers who sell banknotes was much easier than he imagined. Yesterday, he encountered one who was selling older notes at crazy low prices! One 1950E twenty-dollar note was marked at $25; a set of two 1981 ten-dollar notes, $22; and $7 for a 1981 five-dollar bill! And the dealer sold them to him for face value! Forty-five dollars for forty-five dollars! What a steal!
Moreover, there were some $1 web notes, the experimental notes printed with the newspaper printing process in the 1990′s. Normally, the 1993 and 1995 series notes sell for $10 in average condition; but this maniac was selling five for six dollars! Nando even managed to pick up one from the 1988A series, which should have cost at least $25, for TWO!

Does this guy just not know? Eight dollars for six web notes... that anyone else would have charged me a hundred for altogether.
Anyways, this dumbass then cut his thumb as he was leafing through more of the sleeves, and got his blood over one of them. Fortunately, the particular note inside (another web notes) was inside another sleeve, so it was left unharmed.

Nando apologized profusely, but the dealer was understanding. “Long as you don’t have AIDS,” he clarified. Nando offered to buy that note, but the dealer said he would keep it and put it on the wall of his shop, so that he would have a funny story to tell anyone who asked. The man’s wife also ran to the bathroom and brought Fernando some paper towels to clean his thumb and stop the bleeding.

The next day, that particular dealer was gone, and Nando realized that he didn’t even know his name, or the name or location of his shop. Shoulda went to town last night... ... All told, it was a very memorable experience.
Judy enjoyed herself as well, picking up a bunch of album-filler coins for cheap. Mad discounts on her end. She managed to buy a silver proof set from her birth year, 2002, and an American Silver Eagle in a neat package from that same year.

Busting the Most Popular Myths About Gold Jewelry.
Gold has been the bling king for decades and has remained the top-rated precious metal for jewelry even after the introduction of platinum. Gold is brilliant, malleable, and aesthetically pleasing. All of these characteristics contributed to gold’s appeal and popularity among individuals of different ages. Bling has remained an integral part of gold jewelry ever since jewelry first emerged on the scene. And even though platinum has gained more popularity over time, gold remains king in bling.
Unfortunately, even in these science-centric days of the 21st century, there are still several gold myths, especially jewelry made from it. We want to improve your knowledge and understanding of this great metal by debunking these myths.
Not all white gold and rose gold are real gold, but they are not necessarily fake.
Gold usually has this pale yellow color in its raw, natural state. This is general information, yet there are still specific erroneous ideas about gold’s actual color. According to one of the novels in David ’Eddings’ classic fantasy series, the color of gold as it initially exists is actually reddish, and it turns yellow after being refined through physical and chemical means.
As for white gold and rose gold, there are several things to consider. White gold, as the name suggests, is made from silver or platinum and has a tint of gold depending on the alloy used. In the case of rose gold, the metal is only refined up to a certain point to retain a little of its original color, but it is often caused by the abundance of copper used in the alloy. It may be made with a white mineral like manganese or nickel, or it may have a good deal of silver or platinum in the alloy.
It is better to purchase gold jewelry with a higher karat rating if you’re buying it as an investment piece.
Typically, karat is what people use to describe the purity of a gold item, including gold necklaces in Las Vegas. It doesn’t matter how much of the finished jewelry is made of gold, as long as it is pure.
Because 24K is the purest form of gold, pieces crafted from the material are considered to be the most expensive. However, does buying jewelry as an investment rather than as a personal adornment make 24K jewelry more or less of a good deal? Well, it all depends on whether you’re buying jewelry as an investment or as a personal adornment.
Because of its purity, 12K or 18K gold is softer and more malleable than 24K gold, which is generally alloyed with silver, palladium, and copper to strengthen it. Wearing 24K gold jewelry on a regular basis, especially if you’re exposed to the elements, is not recommended. This is especially true if you work a job where your hands and other body parts are exposed to harsh chemicals such as detergents.
It is important to avoid elemental and chemical exposure on your precious pieces while wearing 24K jewelry because this may lead to some serious scuffing and denting. We suggest wearing 12K and 18K gold pieces for daily wear: all the glimmer with less of the stress.
Getting to Bite Into Gold is Not the Best Way to Tell If It's Real
There is a well-known cinematic trope where the intrepid adventurer collects a doubloon or denarii from a pile of coins buried in an ancient tomb and bites it. If his teeth leave a visible impression on the item, he has just attained his objective. Although this method is certainly a viable way to test gold’s authenticity, it is not the most efficient or accurate. (Think about the damage to your dental work and the item itself!)
There are quite a few metals used in the production of alloyed gold products that are pretty soft and flexible (copper and silver, among them). It is, therefore, very easy to be tricked by unscrupulous merchants. The piece may be gilded with just enough gold to pass the Bite Test.
It’s best to have your gold checked by people who know how to do it correctly rather than by gold technicians. Different acid tests and electrolysis-driven examinations for gold are available. We recommend you avoid having your teeth looked at, as the professionals usually know what they’re talking about.
You Can’t Wear Gold and Silver Together
This myth is based on observations in terms of fashion and style, particularly from the Victorian Era. In this era, the mixing of gold and silver jewelry was frowned upon. The only ones who did this were the new rich or what today's people call "new money." Back then, the "new rich" people were considered to have no breeding or come from low origins and suddenly gained wealth but had little in the way of taste.
Today, there are many ways to wear gold chains or stack gold rings, and adding alternating sections of gold and silver is one of them. Laying gold chains or stacking gold rings in alternating sections of gold and silver can create an aesthetically striking and tasteful effect. You can also wear more shades or textures of gold to add elegance and depth to your look. Just remember that limiting metals to only one to two is essential to avoid looking gaudy or overstated.
You can be too pale to wear gold, so some would give you a dirty look if you ask about gold jewelry.
There's a misconception that only seriously tanned girls can wear gold. You can see this in how celebrities of color such as Grace Jones and Diana Ross have been portrayed wearing a lot of gold jewelry, which is a stark and magnificent contrast to their complexions.
The truth is, anyone with skin can wear this metal. You may, however, afford to be adventurous in choosing gold jewelry for yourself if you are wearing yellow gold. See how contrasting rose gold or white gold jewelry will look on you. You may be pleasantly surprised at how flattering it looks on you.

Richard Bach’s second public letter
Richard Bach issued a series of public letters in Korea. So far only the first letter has been translated and posted. Here is the second one which was posted in the Korean Daum cafe.
Original letter: page 1, page 2, page 3, page 4, page 5
Richard Bach’s 2nd Public Letter
What is this public letter for?
To protect the True Parents who only appear once in history, to protect our identity, and to leave behind the vertical tradition of heaven for our future Blessed Families.
I can still vividly remember what True Father told me at the Las Vegas Cheon-Hwa-Goong palace a few months before his Sunghwa (passing). “Mister Park, take good care of Mother when I go to spirit world.” I understood True Father’s words to mean that I should attend and protect True Mother.
Ever since, I have been tracking down and took legal action against those who would irresponsibly put True Mother in danger or would challenge True Parents’ authority. I did this with the heart of protecting True Mother and upholding True Parents’ authority, who are our root.
Currently in 2018 there is a person who is exposing True Mother to danger, is damaging True Parents’ value, and is challenging True Parents’ authority internally and externally. That person is Secretary General Young-Ho Yoon.
1. Reason for sending out my 2nd public letter The reason for my sending a second public letter is simple. It’s because I have seen the foundation established by True Parents—the savior, Lord of the Second Advent, messiah who is the source of true love, true life, and true lineage—crumble from the inside even before we could make Vision 2020 a reality for the restoration of sovereignty.
Circumstances worse than the selling of Jesus for 30 silver coins 2,000 years ago are taking place within the Family Federation right now. For the last 4 years I tried to quietly resolve these internal problems while protecting True Mother from forces that were expanding a culture and habits based on remnants of the “Age Before the Coming of Heaven” that should be expunged from the age of Cheon Il Guk. But despite my strong will, True Mother was put in grave danger internally and externally by the irresponsible actions of some leaders.
All the responsibility for blemishing True Mother’s authority and putting the queen’s body in danger not only in Korea, but in all mission countries, rests on Mr. Young-Ho Yoon, the vice-director of True Mother’s Secretariat and Secretary General of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification.
Although it can’t be said that there weren’t any problems with the people closest to True Parents after the inauguration of the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity and inauguration of the FFWPU, at the very least when a wrongdoing of theirs was exposed they would repent as Blessed Families and at minimum they would make an effort to establish an indemnity condition.
But, for the following three reasons Mr. Young-Ho Yoon and his wife Mrs. Shin-Hye Lee are the worst couple till now: First, Yoon and Lee’s couple are not a normal Blessed Family couple. They did not follow the value of lineage and procedure. Second, rather than live for the sake of True Parents’ providence, Yoon and Lee have abused their current position and authority for the sake of their close relatives thereby violating the hearts of members worldwide.
Third, due to the above-mentioned actions of Yoon, Lee, and their relatives, the organization is incapable of maintaining check and balance within the organization.
I already explained why they are not really a Blessed Family in my first public letter, now allow me to explain on the second and third point I made.
2. Mr. Young-Ho Yoon’s expansion of a culture of nepotism The Family Federation is losing its identity due to the culture of nepotism being spread by Young-Ho Yoon. His elder brother Kwang-Ho Yoon, his wife Shin-Hye Lee, his wife’s elder sister, his wife’s father, his wife’s mother, even his colleagues from university that graduated in 1996 are creating a negative link surrounding him that does not fit with the era of Cheon Il Guk.
Except for Blessed Families who are offering pastoral services on the field, there has not been a situation within the Federation or within any providential entity in which a husband and wife work together within the same organization’s division.
But, after Young-Ho Yoon changed his job to work at the International Headquarters, his wife Shin-Hye Lee, who was in charge of financial affairs in the International Headquarters, was moved to be under direct control of the Secretary General (Young-Ho Yoon). From an internal control and law-abiding perspective, this structure has a risk of breach of trust and embezzlement, etc. I raised concerns about this several times, and each time I recommended correction, but there was no leader who would correct this responsibly.
How can there be an organization where the husband compiles the budget, approves it, then the wife executes it and undertakes the accounting? And we’re not talking about an entity where hundreds of millions come and go, but billions.
Even if they are a Blessed Family, they can be exposed to temptations of misusing public funds according to each person’s position. An organization that does not prevent this institutionally will be that much more exposed to the danger of misuse of public money.
Institutional problems created by Mr. Young-Ho Yoon as the one mentioned above lead to procedural problems. For example, Mrs. Shin-Hye Lee who was just another deputy team leader (차장), was promoted to become a team leader (부장; or head manager) by the direct authority of the Secretary General. And, Young-Ho Yoon, who should be in charge of supporting the mission field as the Secretary General of the International Headquarters, is instead borrowing funds destined for missionary work to establish a company called “(Corp.) HJ Magnolia Group” with his personal name, managing the work of that new company with additional injection of public funds, and hiring his close relatives. Another concrete example is that Shin-Hye Lee, Yoon’s wife, has employed her elder sister to position of treasurer of the church affiliated hair shop, and Yoon allowed his elder brother Kwang-Ho Yoon to deliver goods for all sorts of church events without any bidding procedure.
Even when they witness Young-Ho Yoon’s unfair actions mentioned above, employees within the Chung Pyung complex remain silent because they fear being at the receiving end of harmful personnel treatment. Due to this silence, a culture of nepotism created by Young-Ho Yoon’s abuse of authority and corruption have spread beyond the Chung Pyung complex into the Korean mission field. Due to this, the culture of heart that our elder Blessed Families cultivated centered on True Parents is degenerating into a culture of nepotism.
Although there are countless examples of such degeneration, I will mention one more.
After Young-Ho Yoon moved over to the International Headquarters, in 2015 Hwa-Bum Lee (Shin-Hye Lee’s father) used 150,000,000 KRW to buy the Hae-Bo Unification Church center located at Ham-Pyung Kun, Jeon-Nam in the name of “Hyung-Cheol Lee” (Shin-Hye Lee’s elder brother), and only 2 years later on October, 2017, sold the church center building to an outside church. (The address of the Hae-Bo church is “328 Hae-Sam Ro, Ham-Pyung Kun, Jeon-Nam”, and the content above can be verified at the real estate registry.)
How is it that Mr. Hwa-Bum Lee, an elder Blessed Family member who used to be a pastor, uses his son to purchase and register a church—a space [given] by True Parents’ dedication for members to share the culture of heart—under a third party’s name, and then goes on to sell this to an outside church? What does this mean?
For reference, nepotism in the past referred to when the Roman emperor gave positions and power to his own family members. Many Christians naturally subjugated the Roman empire giving up their lives to give testimony of Jesus who had died at the cross, but the Roman empire eventually collapsed. Although there are many reasons for this, we have to remember that one of the biggest reasons for its demise is that a culture of nepotism had spread.
3. Collapse of order due to Young-Ho Yoon Currently in 2018, checks and balances in the Family Federation have completely collapsed. I wouldn’t say that main leaders in the past (Chung-Hwan Kwak vs. Sun-Jo Hwang) had competition in good faith, but they generated a type of tension and a proper check and balance was maintained. And other heads of businesses and providential organizations also fulfilled their respective responsibilities based on True Parents’ direct guidance.
However, currently Young-Ho Yoon and Shin-Hye Lee’s couple are misusing the position of vice-director of True Mother’s Secretariat at the Cheon Jeong Gung palace, involving themselves in personnel matters and overstepping their authority, not only at the Federation level but in all providential organizations and businesses. Through unprincipled personnel changes he has given important positions at the International Headquarters to his university colleagues, people who know his past corruption, or to those who aided and abetted him.
The acts of overstepping their authority or the misuse of public funds by Young-Ho Yoon and Shin-Hye Lee not only violate heavenly law, but it could possibly violate Korean law. That’s why I pointed this out numerous times. Some might say that sometimes it is hard to follow the laws of the world when doing the work of heaven. Perhaps one can say that if it is for the providence, but I am not sure how related to heaven’s providence it is to concurrently be holding the position of president of (Corp.) HJ Magnolia Group without distinguishing public and private, to immorally overextend one’s power over members/employees, to hire one’s relatives as they would in the outside world, and to give work/contracts to relatives.
The last few years, Korea has seen parliamentarians hiring the relatives of their aides, the abuse of power case with Korean Air, abuse of power with Asiana Airlines, etc. Following the public opinion on these issues the Korean government is punishing those who commit such improper acts, and this tendency seems to be growing.
Young-Ho Yoon and Shin-Hye Lee are promoting a culture of nepotism. Considering the fact that it is known that the Family Federation is being intently watched by various government entities, I warned True Mother’s Secretariat that if the illegal or unfair practices of Young-Ho Yoon and Shin-Hye Lee’s family members is recognized by these government agencies the legal responsibility would fall upon the involved individuals and in the worst case upon the Family Federation.
If the internal checks and balances within the Family Federation disappear and if the self-purification function does not work, then a shock will arrive from the outside. If we don’t make the effort to self-purify, the Family Federation starting with the Cheon Jeong Gung palace may be held responsible by auditing agencies of the Korean government for several types of illegal acts. And the main leaders related to this will not be able to escape from legal responsibility. I was worried about this and warned the relevant people in charge many times.
This was for their sake, but it was also in order to not bring any trouble to the True Mother they are attending. However, only because of the reason that they hold a higher position, they did not want to hear any problems or warnings about an issue that wasn’t in their area of expertise. They did not properly report such a serious matter to True Mother and ignored it.
4. Conclusion Everything has to return to normal.
The International Headquarters has to be led by a person competent in missionary and pastoral work. True Mother’s Secretariat should only fulfill its role and function as a Secretariat, and should not exert its power as if it were in the same position as True Mother. Nepotism, and checks and balances, these are things that not only Young-Ho Yoon, but all leaders should be careful of. And this obviously applies to me too.
To conclude, I am not sending this public letter as an expression of conflict between first and second generation. In other words, I am not saying that because I’m a second generation and Young-Ho Yoon is a first generation member he can’t do it and some other second generation should do it. This is not what I’m saying. I believe that if a second generation commits the same mistake as a first generation, they should be judged more harshly for being second generation. That is because the value of the existence of the second generation comes from fulfilling the role of a bridge to pass on the foundation the first generation parents created with their blood, sweat and tears, to the next generation.
I am worried that the tradition established by our elder Blessed Families who only looked towards True Parents and the precious values shown to the world through the Family Federation will lose their light if Young-Ho Yoon, who is not a Blessed Family member, spreads a culture of nepotism that extinguishes the culture of heart, tears down the order within the organization, and leaves his proper position exerting abnormal authority due to his excessive greed.
After sending in my first public letter I will not submit to any threat or pressure. I will go to the very end to fulfill the words that True Father gave me.
Thank you.

What is a Gold Sovereign Coin?
The Gold Sovereign Coin is a particular bullion coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint. The RCM also issues other gold-backed coins, such as the Maple Leaf Gold Coin and the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Coin, but the Sovereign coins have gained quite some following through the years. These bullion coins are produced to satisfy the demand for precious metals they have in common with the Gold Sovereign coin. In fact, since more people are learning about the benefits of investing their money in gold coins, there are now fewer Gold Sovereign coins in Las Vegas coin shops and other areas in the country
What is a Gold Sovereign Coin?
Simply put, a Gold Sovereign Coin is a bullion coin that is intended for investment. These coins are not usually spent using their legal tender. Instead, most people acquire them for their bullion value. As such, these coins are highly sought after by investors worldwide as a safe haven investment. As with most investment coins, the Gold Sovereign is famous due to its liquidity, safety, and enhanced investment potential.
Coin Specifications
The specifications for the Royal Canadian Mint's gold sovereign coin are similar to those for the standard bullion coin, but with one crucial difference. Whereas a typical bullion coin has a face value of $100, the Gold Sovereign coin has a face value of $1000. This means that when someone purchases a coin with a face value of $1000 (or more), they are acquiring a coin worth more than the silver content would suggest.
The gold content in the coin makes it a sovereign coin, unlike a regular bullion coin. Unlike some other bullion coins, which are produced in limited quantities and are redeemable at face value, the Royal Canadian Mint produces a continuous supply of Gold Sovereign Coins. These coins are produced to satisfy world demand for the product and are therefore redeemable at any time.
Design
The designs for these coins are attractive, lustrous coins that are popular with investors around the world. The coins were highly successful, and the demand for them far outstripped the supply, which is why they continue to be produced to this day. The Gold Sovereign Coin was subsequently introduced as a new series of bullion coins; thus, the coin's history continues.
Where to Store Gold-Backed Bullion Coins
The Gold Sovereign Coin can be stored the same way as standard bullion coins, as they are all legal tender. However, it would be best if you considered keeping your gold-backed coins in a safe deposit box or even an investment fund. If something were to happen to the coins, you would be able to claim your coins back from the fund at any time.
It would also help to store your gold-backed coins in a cool, dry location, such as a small vault or even the bottom of your pantry. In such areas, adhering to proper storage practices can help avoid rusting your coins.
Conclusion
The Gold Sovereign Coin is a highly desired bullion product among investors. It is often sold as part of more significant investments, such as an ounce of gold or a portfolio of several bullion coins. The coins are also popular among investors who want to buy coins as a way of diversifying their investments. The coins are also a good choice for investors who wish to store their assets in a safe way and who want to protect against price volatility.

Slot Machines For Sale
Coins in The Swordsman slot machine begin at 0.01, but there is a max bet of 200.00 per spin. You can also adjust the number of paylines, which is fairly uncommon in a lot of 50-line slots. When it comes to payouts, there is a fairly wide range of prizes. You can win by lining up three to six matching symbols on the reels. While waiting for his $1.3 million jackpot to be verified by the Mississippi Gaming Commission, a Florida man played a nearby slot machine at Hard Rock Casino Biloxi and added a $14,000 win.
On November 30, a man who wishes to remain unnamed won over $14 million on a Las Vegas slot machine and says he will split the money between a charity and his church.
The slot machine was located in the Rampart Casino.
According to the Las Vegas Sun, the man put $20 in the machine and “won $14,282,544.” He was at the casino with an out-of-town guest and had been playing the slot machine for about five minutes when he hit the jackpot.
The church he attends has been holding “services in a high school gymnasium,” and the gentleman is happy that he and his fellow congregants can now build their own building.

Admit it. You have the same dream we do.
Everything conspires and you find yourself in the right place at the right time – seated in front of a Megabucks slot machine that’s primed and ready to hit. You push the button (of course, pulling a lever would be more dramatic, but this is 2015 and the one-armed bandit has gone the way of the horse and buggy). The logos on the reels all line up. And then the moment you’ve been waiting for finally arrives…you realize you’re a millionaire.
Correction: A multimillionaire.
IGT’s Megabucks has been paying out ginormous life-changing jackpots for almost 20 years. Its slogan is “Dream big. Win big.”
A network of slot machines linked throughout Nevada, Megabucks boasts a top prize that builds from a base amount of $10 million. To play it costs $1 a spin, but to quality for that top amount you’ll have to shell out $3. That sounds pretty steep, we know. But trust us, if you hit Megabucks with only a buck or two invested, you’ll leave with a jackpot in the thousands instead of millions. And just imagine trying to live with that.
As you’d expect, Megabucks lays claim to having paid the largest slot jackpots in Vegas history. It last hit here in mid March at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. The lucky winner was Trinadad Torres, a 78-year-old woman from Magna, Utah. She played $100 before netting the $10,744,292.71 jackpot. Her plans include traveling to the Philippines and buying a yellow Mustang.
While nothing to sneeze at, Torres’ windfall just misses placing her on our list below of the 10 biggest slot jackpots ever won in Sin City.

More than 12 years ago, a 25-year-old software engineer from Los Angeles, who wanted to remain anonymous (and who can blame him?), hit the city’s largest slot jackpot after playing $100 on a Megabucks machine. A C-note in return for nearly $40 million…now that’s what we’d call a damn good investment.

Gobs bigger than any tip she’d received, cocktail waitress Cynthia Jay-Brennan, then 37 years old, hit the second largest Megabucks slot jackpot in Vegas (at that time it was the city’s highest Megabucks payout). But her story took a tragic turn when her car was rear-ended about six weeks later by a drunk driver. Her older sister Lela died in the accident, and Jay-Brennan was left paralyzed.

Ignoring your budget isn’t always a bad thing. Just ask the then 67-year-old retired flight attendant from Vegas who racked up the city’s third largest Megabucks slot payout. Casino builder game. She’d only intended to play $100 at Palace Station that day, but wound up putting $300 in…and we’re pretty she doesn’t regret overspending one bit.

How does that old expression go? The early bird catches…the $22.6 million slot jackpot. Well, that’s how Johanna Heundl (then 74 years old) of Covina, California, might remember it. She was on her way to breakfast when she decided to stop and play a Megabucks machine. Having looked away for a moment, she couldn’t believe her eyes when she turned back and saw all the logos aligned in the payline.

One man, two times a Megabucks winner. What are the odds? They’ve got to be astronomical. Certainly, anyone would be happy to score a single multimillion-dollar slot jackpot. But not everyone is Elmer Sherwin. A frequent Vegas visitor, Sherwin hit his first Megabucks jackpot of $4.6 million at The Mirage back in 1989. It was a sign of even better things to come. Sixteen years later, at the age of 92, that lucky son of a gun (kidding, we’re not jealous…really) did it again, adding another $21.1 million to his bank account.

A woman visiting her niece in Vegas decided to drop $6 in a Megabucks slot machine before heading back to her room. Her reaction when the winning symbols lined up: “The machine broke.” Luckily, her niece was there to clarify things. We think we should book a room at Aria because about four months after that jackpot occurred, another Megabucks jackpot hit at the resort for $10,636,897. Talk about lightning striking twice!

Jackpot amount: $12,510,549.90 When: April 14, 1997 Where:New York-New York
New York-New York opened its doors on Jan. 3, 1997. Perhaps due to a little of the “city that never sleeps” magic, Vegas resident Suzanne Henley made her fortune at the Big Apple-themed megaresort just a few months later. On her way home from work, she stopped in to play a Megabucks machine – one that she’d had an inkling might hit. Henley waited in line an hour before she could play. And at 1:44 a.m., after putting $100 in, her diligence paid off…to the tune of more than $12.5 million.
It was relying on a 2016 decision from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the, which found that a new way of playing blackjack couldn’t be patented. The virtual reel of modern machines goes back to a 1984 patent obtained by Norwegian mathematician Inge Telnaes, which brought the industry into the modern age and helped turn it into a “gold mine,” CDC says.A typical video-slot game today shows differing images passing by as the reels “spin.” Konami’s patented idea, which it calls “Super Stack,” shows identical images spinning. The legal case began when Konami filed federal patent suits in 2014 in Las Vegas claiming that High 5 Games LLC and Marks Studios LLC used the “Super Stack” inventions without permission.High 5 Games successfully argued to the trial judge that Konami’s patents are little more than a tweak of the rules of the game. The gamemaker says in court papers that it’s a legitimate invention designed to provide “a heightened sense of interest, excitement, and anticipation of potential wins.”. Erik Voorhees – Cointelegraph Magazine

We felt like we were doing God’s work, says Eric Voorhees, a pioneer of cryptocurrency payments, who recalls how he tried to convert non-believers in the early days of Bitcoin.
The man whose SatoshiDice gaming platform was once responsible for half of all Bitcoin transactions is now a top government cryptologist and the CEO of the ShapeShift exchange.
He recalls that Bitcoin was considered a hoax at the Money 2020 conference in Las Vegas in 2012. At the time, he was working for BitInstant, one of the first Bitcoin exchanges, and they had a booth next to PayPal.
I remember the PayPal people giggling nearby. Some may have heard of Bitcoin. If they had heard of it at all, it was a complete hoax – a stupid internet scam or something. It was a totally unproductive conference.
History has not been kind to sinners and cheaters, many of whom have since repented. In 2020, eight years after the conference, Paypal finally made its appearance, allowing users to buy and sell encrypted products, and will soon be added as a payment method at 29 million merchants.
Voorhees spread the gospel of Satoshi during the conference with Charlie Shrem and Roger Wehr. Shrem is the founder of BitInstant, who is considered a martyr by some after serving two years in prison in a case involving the resale of bitcoin by a user of the Silk Road marketplace on darknet. Ver was perhaps the biggest believer of all, earning him the nickname Bitcoin Jesus for his charismatic promotion of currency.
When it came to conversion, Roger was the best. He was a real maniac, Voorhees said, laughing.
Even for Charlie and me, who were very much for this shared feeling, it was quite overwhelming and simply unrelenting.
Everyone who works in a startup feels like they’re changing the world, that they have a huge mission, and of course every company tries to reinforce that, he says, a CEO himself. But for Bitcoiners, Voorhees explains, it’s really about changing the world, on a fundamental level. It’s about changing the institution of money itself – that’s a very big task.
Vorhees explains that he sees Bitcoin as nothing less than a revolution:
It’s not just better unemployment insurance for the money people used to have. It’s a different kind of money that changes the government, that changes the culture, that changes social and economic relations at a very deep level. That’s why it took him so long to catch up, to get recognition, because he’s trying to get into such an established institution.
The year is 2012. @ErikVoorhees @rogerkver and I decided to pool our money for our first #Money2020 event. We told them we wanted the best possible stand, but that we needed to be next to @PayPal’s stand to be able to show the world OUR financial system!

Roots Library
Voorhees, now 35, spent his childhood in the mountains of Colorado in the early 1990s before moving to the University of Puget Sound, near Seattle, in 2003. He studied economics and international affairs, but he doesn’t really feel like he’s studied either one.
Throughout my studies in economics, I took courses on the history of economic thought, but I never learned anything about the Austrians, he says, referring to the Austrian School of Economics. The Austrians, often ignored by Keynesian economists, are obsessed with things like hard currency and deciphering non-refundable money. That’s why they’ve been adopted by goldbugs and the Bitcoin community, who, after all, often call them digital gold.
Fresh out of college, Voorhees headed to Dubai in 2008 to embark on an adventure where anyone with a college degree could find a job right away because the company was growing so fast.
He worked as a salesman at a brokerage firm and watched from afar as the world he thought he knew began to shrink under the weight of the global financial crisis. Dubai did not feel the effects until six months later, he recalls, describing the intervening period as very strange, during which Dubai experienced a huge economic boom while the rest of the Western world collapsed.
It was from this desolate oasis, untouched by the global drought, that the business and economics graduate, I think, really began to understand money on a very fundamental level. For Voorhees, the story of the money is simple: Money appears as a commodity not infrequently shrouded in disorder. It used to be gold and now it’s already a lot of money, but it could be something else if silver was more useful and efficient.
Following this realization, Voorhees had a very strong aversion to fiat money and government control of money, because as a proponent of the market economy, he believed that no government should determine the price or distribution of a good. Money was in fact the most important commodity of all, so the most important thing is that it not be centrally planned. Even in a so-called capitalist economy, he says.
A capitalist economy with a government-run monetary system seemed totally unethical to me, but I had no other answer or solution than to return to the gold standard, which seemed somewhat anachronistic to me.
After two years abroad, Voorhees returned to Colorado and soon moved to New Hampshire to join the Free State Project, an organized political migration he describes as a multi-day effort to bring 20,000 radical libertarians to a small jurisdiction [New Hampshire] to exert, he hopes, undue influence on the political structure. It was there that Voorhees, along with other radical libertarian political activists, stumbled upon Bitcoin in 2011.
At that point I was completely sold and a year later I left New Hampshire and moved to New York to join Charlie Shrem at BitInstant. He’s taking over the marketing department there as employee number three.
Around the same time, Charlie Shrem, Roger Wehr and Eric Voorhees – all of whom would go on to become cryptography greats – raised their money to set up a Bitcoin booth at the Money 2020 conference in Las Vegas. We needed to be near the PayPal booth to show the world our financial system, Schrem explains. Vorhees says they were unable to convert anyone to Bitcoin at the conference, despite their best efforts.
Belief in false profit
Vorhees admits he was a Bitcoin maximalist, a proponent of the one true currency who rejected all fake coins. I was a maximalist. When I got into Bitcoin, that was obviously the only room, he says.
When the other pieces came out, I rejected them, made fun of them, and generally hated them because I felt they were a distraction from an important project.
Although he tried to focus on Satoshi’s vision, new projects began to bother him, and he realized that many of them were doing things that Bitcoin didn’t or couldn’t do. By mid-2014, the transformation was in full swing.
My whole state of mind began to change. One of the most important aspects of Bitcoin is that it is decentralized. And that seemed to me the antithesis of a decentralized digital economy where there’s just one chain – you know, one code base, one chain, one set of economic rules. It seemed very appropriate that you get multiple different digital assets, and that was actually part of the decentralization, part of the merit of Bitcoin was that Bitcoin was not the only thing that existed.
He mitigates this by adding the usual warnings – most tokens are rubbish, many are scams, most will fail. Only a minority is interesting, but a minority is much more than one.
People at ETH… …are trying to keep these Bitcoin Maxis for Ethereum out of Binanka.
– Eric Voorhees (@ErikVoorhees) February 19, 2021
He still feels sympathy for his short-sighted maximalist colleagues, whom he sees as victims of the human tendency towards tribalism, which manifests itself in various ways: Of course, it manifests itself in religion. And it has expressed itself through cryptography, and some of the people – their conscience – has been warped into a complete endorsement of one flag and a complete mockery of all others.
It’s a group psychology phenomenon, and I don’t know how it will stop, but I think it’s really detrimental to the growth of decentralized digital finance in general.
Satoshi Dice Set
Just one year after his discovery of Bitcoin, Voorhees launched the Bitcoin-based game site SatoshiDice in 2012, which has taken the young cryptophile community by storm.
On Reddit, this guy wrote that he had created a mechanism similar to that of a casino where dice are rolled and the user picks up or loses their coins according to the result of the dice. I tried it and there was magic in it right away… so I started working on it.
It was revolutionary because it allowed anyone in the world to place a bet by sending a Bitcoin transaction, no matter where they were from or how their local laws regulated online gambling.
Moreover, the player didn’t have to trust SatoshiDice because it was clearly fair, meaning it worked as a transparent machine where all the odds and inner workings were there for all to see. Governments around the world have various gaming regulatory and oversight bodies, but the SatoshiDice feature can make these bodies redundant, impotent, or both.
SatoshiDice has shown you what the odds are. It was transparent and you could prove that the rules were right.
The simple, reliable and flawless nature of SatoshiDice has made this platform a great success. A few months after its launch, the game was responsible for nearly half of Bitcoin transactions.
SatoshiDice conducted an unofficial IPO on the MPEx, a type of Bitcoin exchange where unlisted Bitcoin companies offered shares and paid dividends in BTC. They ushered in the ICO boom a few years later and drew similar attention from regulators for securities law violations.
While the casino was winning tons of money, it was also losing momentum because Voorhees felt that his job as head of the world’s largest Bitcoin casino was distracting him from his great calling, which was to preach the good word of Satoshi. Despite continued growth, he reluctantly sold the company in 2013 for 126,315 BTC, then worth $12 million. That would be a nice $6.25 billion today.
System-related disputes
Mr. Voorhees’ peace of mind did not last long, as the SEC soon sought him out for a public offering of unregistered securities. Voorhees thought this was unfair after seeing his investors make exponential profits. He eventually got in the saddle for $50,000.
They’ve been miserable for nine months. If I didn’t already despise the government, I do so even more after this event. That was real nonsense.
Its fundamental value is that people should be free to communicate with each other voluntarily, and that no government agency has the right to interfere. In his worldview, institutions and governments exist only to limit people’s power over money, whereas cryptography gives people full economic power to conduct transactions any way they want, and no one can stop it. According to Voorhees, these two forces will inevitably collide.
Voorhees’ company, Shapeshift, allows users to exchange cryptocurrencies without identity verification. That hasn’t always been the case – in 2018, Voorhees says his company is subject to the same rules as traditional banks and has therefore had to implement identity verification (Know Your Customer, or KYC) procedures, making anonymous transactions impossible. It was absolutely pathetic. Our customers didn’t like it. I hated it.
But by 2020, decentralized exchanges (DEX), which allow users to trade without depositing their money with a third party, will gain ground, allowing Shapeshift to refocus its activities on its libertarian values. All KYCs were abolished and the platform became a gateway that allowed users to trade on different DEXs. With Satoshi Dice, I learned that economic relationships require nothing more than a public key to send a transaction, and that everything else can be based on that, he says.
Voorhees says his opposition to KYC is not about ideology, but about protecting users from things like identity theft.
Identity theft is a $30 billion to $40 billion a year problem in the United States alone. It is more expensive than all forms of theft combined. It’s a big problem, and cryptography is the answer. But to what extent is he bound by this principle? It would classify as theft the government’s access to user data to tax financial transactions not reported by customers. Yes, it’s true. Taxes are absolute theft, he answers unequivocally.
WSJ examined.
The spirit of ShapeShift has proven controversial among advocates of the rules and regulations surrounding traditional funding. An investigation by the Wall Street Journal found that users of Shapeshift laundered $9 million through the platform. However, an analysis by a third intelligence firm, CipherBlade, found that the investigation was flawed because it suggested that the funds were illegal, even after they passed through four different hands, resulting in an inflated $9 million. Understandably, Voorhees, who is normally calm and composed, was deeply affected by this situation.
Here’s the Wall Street Journal calling us money launderers, even though according to their own figures we would be much better [at fighting money laundering] than all those big banks they keep writing about.
There is a noticeable tremor in his voice. The struggle is personal.
We spend our last moments comparing attitudes towards money in different societies. In the Scandinavian countries, for example, all taxes are public. Voorhees finds this troubling, adding that many people feel guilty about having money, when ethically he believes wealth creation is a good thing for society.
I want people who become very rich to be able to be proud of that above all else, provided they do so ethically and use those resources as they see fit. I think that’s the way the economy develops, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.

Top 5 20th-Century US Half Dollar and Dollar Coins Worth Buying
Half dollars are an interesting interim between larger coins like the dollar and smaller ones like the dime. They’re worth less than a silver dollar but more than a quarter. These coins have been around for centuries, but people forgot about them after the introduction of nickel in 1866. Yet some half dollars in Las Vegas are worth far more than others. Here are some of the top 20th-century half dollars you can buy today and what they’re worth.
1979-1988 Kennedy Half Dollar
This is easily one of the most interesting and collectible of all the half dollars. It was struck from 1979 to 1988 in two versions: regular and commemorative.
The regular version has a face value of $1 and a silver content of .92. The commemorative version has a face value of $2 and a silver content of .8. Both versions have higher mintage figures than the normal coin. The regular coin had a mintage of 1.5 billion, making it the second most common coin in circulation after the dollar. The commemorative coin, however, had a mintage of only 75 million, making it the rarest coin in circulation. Collectors prize these coins for their beauty and the fact that they are the only coins John F. Kennedy ever issued.
1984-P Kennedy Space Center Commemorative Coin
This was the first commemorative coin to be issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the landing on the moon. Adolph A. Wienman, the coin designer, was one of the most renowned coin designers of all time. It is one of the most expensive coins in circulation. However, it is believed that only a few dozen were minted.
The coin shows the Apollo 11 lunar landing spacecraft, the Eagle lunar lander, and the EarthSeat lander, along with an American flag. The coin was minted to celebrate the much-discussed moon landing and was meant to be a gift for the people of NASA. These commemorative coins are beautiful. The designs are fantastic, the details are incredible, and the coin is very collectible. However, they are quite expensive.
1982 Double Eagles
This is one of the more exciting and unique coins ever to exist. It features a portrait of Benjamin Franklin. It is also worth noting that this is one of only two double eagles to feature Benjamin Franklin’s likeness. The other one is the 2002 American Eagle Dollar coin that features the profile of the president. The obverse of this coin features Benjamin Franklin, along with the inscription “ONE DOLLAR.” The reverse features an American Eagle, along with the inscription “2003 AMERICAN EAGLE.” These coins are beautiful and were Minted to celebrate the end of the long war in Iraq. They are also popular with collectors.
2002-P Lincoln Cent (Half Dollar)
Coins are not issued to commemorate events or people but to represent the money in circulation. In this case, the coin celebrates Abraham Lincoln. It is a bi-metal coin with a copper core and a nickel outer jacket. It was first minted in 1964 and was the first coin to utilize a new type of nickel called the “New Sealegged” nickel. This coin is one of the most popular in circulation today. It is a great source of fine silver and is also highly attractive. The original 1964 Kennedy coin design was kept. The only difference is that this coin has a $2 face value and was designed as a celebration of Lincoln rather than a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing.

How To Buy Gold and Silver
There are loads of approaches to get your cash into gold and silver. Each has advantages and disadvantages, and it is a higher priority than at any other time that you are all around educated.
Bullion Coins Gold buyers perth This is my favored decision for current occasions. Commission costs are little. Normal bullion coins are effortlessly sold, frequently to vendors or even by means of nearby classifieds or Craigslist. However, where you purchase matters. Costs can differ from vendor to seller by as much as 5% or considerably more. You will for the most part need to pay in real money (if nearby) or wire move. For any vendor giving you serious estimating, the expense of charge card preparing is simply excessively high. On the off chance that your seller assumes acknowledgment cards, you are WAY Overpaying. More on sources toward the finish of this article. Capacity can turn into an issue on the off chance that you are purchasing enormous amounts. Yet, on account of gold, 100 coins (or five moves of 20) is a little bundle (possibly 8x1.5x2 inches) and has an estimation of $135,000 or somewhere in the vicinity. Sufficiently simple to stow away in a sock cabinet. An instance of silver Eagles (500, or 25x20 coins) is greater (10x10x2 inches?) and just stores $15,000 of abundance. Indeed, even 10 cases (5000) of silver coins isn't THAT huge, yet is recognizable.

You could place them in a protected store box, and that is the customary recommendation. Be that as it may, you might be running some extra danger of seizure (more on this later).
ETF
ETF's are fluid. You can purchase and sell them in seconds inside any stock money market fund. In any case, they have a few downsides. Greatest is charges. In contrast to a normal ETF, valuable metals ETFs are dealt with contrastingly by the IRS, and you should pay burdens every year if you sell them. Also, they are treated as normal pay, not capital increases, so you pay an a lot higher rate. Before you purchase any ETF's, talk with an expense guide to figure out which rules influence you and whether they have been changed since I last checked them.
Gold ETF's have some uncommon concerns. There have been bits of gossip for quite a long time that the GLD isn't holding as much gold as they should have. Would you be able to spell "misrepresentation"? Much additionally upsetting, the gold ETFs were developing so quick a couple of years prior that they didn't have the opportunity to confirm what they were purchasing. Accounts of them purchasing gold-plated tungsten proliferate, and again this won't get evident until they attempt to sell this stuff. Significantly more startling yet, GLD doesn't need to hold gold by any stretch of the imagination. They can have your cash put resources into "gold speculations", which fundamentally implies subordinates, alternatives, and fates contracts. In the event that you need to claim gold and silver as security against a budgetary breakdown, GLD and their cousins will be the initial ones to fall flat in a market emergency. ETFs may sound great in principle, yet they don't give the security you ought to look for. Flee.
Gold Mining Stocks
Claiming some mining stocks might be a smart thought. They give some insurance against inside and out seizure, since you realize that they will be excluded. Be that as it may, the organizations themselves can be nationalized, or singular mines can be taken. So you need to take a gander at WHERE the organization has it's mines and know about political danger. Also, you are purchasing an organization, so have all the dangers and difficulties that involves. Lower profit. Misrepresentation (ala ENron). Increasing expenses. Terrible administration. Supporting projects can make organizations unfeeling toward the cost of gold, so purchasing a gold digger may not give you the gratefulness you anticipate. Furthermore, look out for influence - mining stocks will in general move quicker than the metal, all over. They are not awful speculations, but rather you need to get your work done and you need to see precisely what you are purchasing.
Junior Mining Stocks
Junior Mining Stocks have the all the disadvantages of senior mining stocks. Furthermore they are VERY theoretical. They could possibly have any demonstrated stores. They probably won't possess a solitary truck or hard cap or single ounce of gold. Indeed, even in great occasions they exchange dependent on gossipy tidbits and tattle. As a gathering, they are one of the most extortion ridden territories of the securities exchange. What's more, they are not for easygoing or even most expert financial specialists. Be particularly cautious about junior excavators that don't exchange on a U.S. trade. In any case, the best counsel is simply don't meddle with them by any means. You can have some good times losing your cash in Las Vegas, and in any event they will comp you a modest smorgasbord feast.
Item Futures
Not for the meek. This is", "where value disclosure occurs and where all other gold evaluating is based. To exchange it, you simply need to open a products account. The enormous danger is influence. You can purchase a solitary gold fates contract with about $3800, and you control 100 ounces of gold. That implies you have about 3% of the contact esteem sum. In the event that gold goes up by $38 an ounce, you have multiplied your cash. On the off chance that it goes somewhere near $38 you are cleared out. What's more, trust me, gold can move significantly more than $38 in a solitary hour during a selloff or frenzy. It is a decent market, and sensibly reasonable, however you REALLY need to have some advancement to play here. Not for the amateur.
Collectible Coins
Coins are beautiful. They are enjoyable to take a gander at and to gather. The greatest issues I have against them as a venture are cost and liquidity. Costs can change much more than bullion coins. A similar coin may be recorded in a coin value list as esteemed at $100, however be accessible for $50 or $125. They generally exchange a noteworthy premium to soften esteem, yet the venders notice "dissolve" regularly when attempting to persuade you they are wise speculations. The facts confirm that a collectible currency will consistently be worth at any rate soften (well quite often). However, the worth may need to twofold to make back the initial investment. At the point when I make a speculation, I would prefer not to sit tight for it to twofold to earn back the original investment. Moreover, when you need to sell a collectible, you need to go to a seller or discover another authority so as to get some aspect of your premium. Vendors commonly chip away at a 25-half markup, so that $100 coin that a seller is selling at $50 may possibly be worth $30 when you are prepared to sell it.
This is a particular territory. Individuals who are not kidding about coins live and inhale them. There is no rationale, it is totally about extraordinary cases. One year can be worth multiple times another, and the best way to know is to know. List costs are, best case scenario, an overall guide, however not valuable. Except if you need to get genuine about this market and finding out about it (10-20 hours per week for a year may kick you off, for a very long time is better), my recommendation is to remain away as a speculation.
Yet, coins are lovely. Get a few on the off chance that you like to take a gander at them, as they positively are superior to most work of art. They make extraordinary endowments, particularly for youngsters. On the off chance that you are a silver purchaser, there is something extraordinary about having a total arrangement of American Silver Eagles in MS-69 evaluation. As bullion, you could purchase these 26 coins today for about $860. As collectible confirmed currencies, one organization is offering this definite assortment for $1450. at the present time. Or on the other hand possibly you need a decent assortment of coins from the different nations. Some are lovely as craftsmanship. These are pretty and ideal to flaunt to your companions, and bullion isn't. In any case, for genuine spare your-rear end contributing, stay with bullion. The mint piece assortment goes to your grandkids in your will, so you don't need to comprehend what it cost you.
Gems
Adornments is the customary path for lower-salary individuals to claim a smidgen of gold. The double use nature of gems lets them purchase a blessing and make a speculation simultaneously. This is valid in underdeveloped nations, and a major aspect of the way of life in India and China. It is an approach to have an advantage in a nation that for the most part demoralizes that or occasionally takes everything. Not even the most idiotic tyrants would attempt to take a womans wedding bands!! Be that as it may, you can indeed wear a limited amount of much at a time, or you wind up resembling a Calcutta whore or LA pimp daddy. So its great in limited quantities, yet not bigger. What's more, you have a major contrast among cost and dissolve esteem, so as a speculation it doesn't generally work. In the event that you deviate, go get some gems and take it prompt to a "money for gold" spot to perceive what they will pay you.
Different Comments
Seizure is a worry for many individuals. The US government did it in 1933, and this president appears to revere FDR. I have consistently thought it was over-the-top to figure they could do it once more. Yet, some truly savvy individuals think it is unavoidable, so I need to genuinely think about it. One situation has the administration requiring all residents to recover their gold for money. Likely they will pay you at (or even above) market rates. When they have all the gold in their ownership, they can take the USA off the coasting conversion scale framework, proclaim gold to be worth $20,000 an ounce, and they are ready to take on the world with a gold-based dollar (though one that is crushed as far as buying power).
The legitimate method to abstain from having your gold seized is to get it out of the nation early. In the event that you live close to the northern outskirt, take a ride to Canada and open a sheltered store box. In the event that you have a home in another nation, store it there. You can likewise open a vault account or a gold based record in numerous nations. There are two sorts. With one (unallocated), you have a section possession in a conventional pool of physical gold. Be that as it may, you can likewise have what they call a designated account, where you have responsibility for gold coins or bars. A distributed record is more costly, however there is no danger by any means. With an unallocated account, it is possible that if the safe foundation fails you might be essential for the overall leasers and hanging tight in line for your payout. You have to pick your foundation cautiously. One that is notable and safe is The Perth Mint..
Your other option is to have physical ownership of your gold, not in a sheltered store box. You can cover it in the terrace or shroud it in your sock cabinet and simply stand by out the disallowance on gold possession. The last time they did it, it endured 40 years.
