~Lavender’s Marvel Re-entry Record~
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Tumblr media
Date Finished: May 8th, 2025
Rewatch! I’ve seen this one A LOT of times…
Favorite character(s): Peter!
Ratings
Characters: 10/10
Pacing: 8/10
Performances: 10/10
My rating: 8/10
Describe the project in one word: Quirky
Favorite thing: The introduction to Tom Holland’s Spiderman! And the quirky, teenager feel of this installment of the MCU.
Least favorite thing: Hmm…the setup to MJ, I guess? I’ll get to that more in Far From Home.
Favorite scene(s): The beginning montage of Peter with his vlog, the scene with Tony on the rooftop, Peter talking to Adrian Toomes in the car, Peter and Ned talking when Ned finds out he’s Spiderman, lots of great scenes!
Notable quote(s): I love how the line that immediately came to mind was “YOINK” when Peter grabs some dude’s keys 🤣 That one, and then “You deserve that, you’re a criminal! Bye, Mr. Criminal!” Oh, and then of course: “If you’re nothing without this suit, then you shouldn’t have it.” BANGER LINE. AND: “All right, Happy. Have fun trackin’ this lamp!” There are SO many great lines in this movie, both serious ones, and really funny ones.
General thoughts:
WOW, where to begin.
One, I have a really personal attachment to his movie, as THIS is the movie that, way back when in 2019, got me INTO the MCU, and Marvel in general. I watched it once, and I was OBSESSED. I watched it…nine times in two weeks, I think? And my obsession with Peter after this movie made me start my big Avengers fanfiction that I eventually finished a year and a half later and it ended up being almost 140k words, I think? So this movie is really special to me because of how it got me into the MCU and started that fire that is still going today.
Vulture is SUCH a cool villain. I like how he started as just a weapons contractor guy who is trying to do good by his family and provide for his family, but then because he gets robbed of the opportunity, he turns to illegal, in-the-shadows operations, which then turns into full criminal activity, and eventually, attempted murder, basically. AND the jumpscare and plot twist of him being Liz’s dad????? SUCH a good plot twist, and especially the moment where you find out is such a good one too. ‘Oh, look, it’s happy happy, Peter is going on a date with Liz, finally, oh yay I’m so happy for him– Oh. OH FU– ‘
I do also like his ‘school-girl’ crush on Liz! I do actually quite like Liz as a character, I can see maybe some people not liking her because she was probably just created so Peter could have someone he was crushing on, a sort of motivation or goal for his character, or something to create tension and conflict, BUT despite all that, I do really like Liz. I don’t think it would’ve worked if he and Liz got into a relationship or anything, but I did like her character and I felt for her. I felt bad knowing that Toomes was her dad, and I felt bad for her when Peter dumped her at the decathlon and the party, despite the fact that we as the audience know that Peter has good reasons for doing so. In my big Avengers fanfiction, I actually brought Liz and her mom back and they had relatively big side-roles in the story.
NED!! We love Ned!!! GUY IN THE CHAIRRRR!! Jacob Batalon and Tom Holland play off of each other really really well, and I love their chemistry. Ned is the perfect dorky, nerdy, sidekick, best-friend character, and it doesn’t feel over the top.
Tony’s involvement, of course, STELLAR. PEAK. IMMACULATE. I love his presence in Peter’s life, I love him trying to parent Peter from afar while also trying to basically run both Stark Industries AND the Avengers, especially post-Civil War. This is really where Tony’s ‘father’ role comes into full swing. We saw a bit of that with Harley in Iron Man 3 (underrated character AND movie btwwww), but now we get to see Tony’s parenting in a way that is both serious and relatable, and then also he’s funny and cheeky with him: “That’s not a hug, I’m just grabbing the door for you.” (And apparently, that was an improvisation from RDJ???)
KAREN! I love Karen as Peter’s suit’s voice. She is an amusing and great addition.
I love Happy just being no nonsense with Peter the whole time. “I’ll call you later.” “Feel free not to!” Peak comedy.
The humor in this movie is AMAZING. It’s cutesy, it’s clever, it suits the movie and the characters, and the KIND of humor it has gives this movie a unique flavor that sets it apart from the other solo-superhero introduction movies.

Bye Sweet Carole delayed to 2025
Tumblr media
Publisher Just For Games and developer Little Sewing Machine have delayed animated horror game Bye Sweet Carole from its previously planned 2024 release window to 2025. It will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam.
“We’ve been working hard to deliver a beautiful and emotional game, but as anyone who has made a game before knows, it’s no easy task,” the developer said in an update. “This is why we’ve made the tough decision to move Bye Sweet Carole‘s release to 2025. This will give us the proper time to continue improving the quality of the gameplay and art that made you fall in love with the project in the first place.”
As for some of the updates being made to the game, they include:
Lighting Effects – We received some feedback on our game being too dark. We agree, it was! We listened and added more lighting effects to give every scene the clarity it deserves to show off the gorgeous art…
User Interface – In our last update we shared a newer version of the user interface, but we weren’t done iterating. We did extensive research to determine the best user interface for the game because you’ll be able to control and transform several characters, so the user interface needed to work for each one. During this time, we also took our time to revamp the entire menu system as well as the game’s HUD. Please note that this may not be final, but it’s much closer to what we would like! Please, have a look on our Steam page where all the 4K screenshots have been updated to reflect more examples of the new user interface and all other mentioned effects. We’re really proud of what we achieved.
Cutscene Reworks – We are spending more time to rework every animation frame from every cutscene (and there are quite many, trust us!) to align the work of our wonderful 2D artists and present a cohesive art style for the project.
Gameplay Reworks – We’ve reworked much of the gameplay to give you a tense feeling while playing. We want your senses heightened like they would with any great horror game or movie. Whether that’s when you are holding Lana’s breath, hiding or battling it out with Mr. Kyn and other enemies that you may encountered during your journey…
Here is the full message from Little Sewing Machine on the delay:
Since our first announcement last year, your excitement around Bye Sweet Carole is bringing so much joy into our hearts. For this reason, we’ve decided to take some extra time to expand our game, pushing further all the elements that made you fall in love with the project. We’re taking Corolla to the next level on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series with a 2025 release. Thank you again for your overwhelming support and look forward for some updates soon. —Bye Sweet Carole Team

VCDM491 Internship in Art Blog Post #10
Yawn...how long has it been, a month...?
A MONTH OF INACTIVITY?!
Wow. Sorry for a month of inactivity. For my final blog post for VCDM 491 Internship in Art, I have completed my month-long internship with Playwatch Kids. I was able to learn a lot about the animation industry and provide storyboards and character designs to Mr. Jimmy Jenkins.
Finally, on April 5, 2025, I have completed my senior thesis film Zoela Vs. The World. A year and a half of blood, sweat and tears had been put into what is one of my most difficult projects to date. Have a look:
youtube
The film was presented on May 9th, the screening of all the senior thesis films, both animation and live action. Several of my classmates were semi-fancy, but I was dressed like I attended the Met Gala! I wore a large white and gold dress with cartoon gloves resembling those of iconic characters like Mickey Mouse to symbolize the hard work I have endured producing my first animated short film.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
During the artist's talk, I was passionate to share my stories of what it was like behind the scenes of Zoela Vs. The World. To create this film, I have drawn rough sketches of the characters on pencil and paper and then scanning them frame by frame on Adobe Scan, then with the use of a drawing tablet and digital pen, I would digitally ink and paint each drawing on Adobe Animate, then on Adobe Premiere I edited all the colored drawings of characters and backgrounds together to become synchronized with sound to create this narrative. I often read texts such as the Animation Survival’s Kit by Richard Williams, so I could better understand the process of animating movement. During post-production, I was also responsible for sound mixing and editing on Adobe Premiere and uniting a small voice cast to provide dialogue for Zoela and Gyalloch. I explained that my film was not easy to make. Rewrites and creative challenges plagued the production and the laptop I started with died so I replaced it with another one after Christmas. Although Prof. Tewodross Williams gave me a 2-minute timer and tried to stop me, I stood up twice as I was determined to finish my thoughts on my experiences with the creative process. That’s how passionate I am about aspiring to improve my skills in this medium. In the future, not only do I want to continue to learn animating, I also desire to continue to pursue voice acting and hopefully act for the stage and produce plays for local theatre, like an adaptation of Peter Pan I have been writing for almost 2 years.
Zoela Vs. The World not only serves as a culmination of my journey to complete my major in Visual Communication & Digital Media Arts with a concentrate on Animation & Motion Graphics. It is a testament to my skills in storytelling to my full potential and the ambitions that came with it.
AND......
That concludes my blog posts for this course!!
Bye

Vaccini
New Post has been published on https://www.aneddoticamagazine.com/it/vaccini/
Vaccini
Tumblr media
