Tamil Nadu Reshuffles 50+ IAS Officers: Major Bureaucratic Changes Across Key Departments and Districts
In a sweeping bureaucratic reshuffle, the Tamil Nadu government has transferred over 50 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, appointing new officials to key posts in state departments, districts, and municipal corporations. The shake-up, announced on Monday, June 23, 2025, aims to streamline administrative efficiency and reinforce governance across sectors.
Key Appointments in State Secretariats
Among the most notable changes:
P. Sankar has been appointed as the Secretary of the Higher Education Department.
C. Samayamoorthy will now serve as the Secretary of the Human Resources Management Department.
Shilpa Prabhakar Satish has been named the Secretary of the Commercial Taxes and Registration Department.
M. Vallalar will hold additional charge as Secretary of Social Reforms, following the superannuation of T.S. Jawahar.

The reshuffle also brings new Commissioners to six major Municipal Corporations:

Tirunelveli: Monica Rana
Tiruchi: V. Madhubalan
Thoothukudi: Banoth Mrugender Lal
Hosur: Nishant Krishna
Erode: Arpit Jain
Commercial Taxes and Land Reforms
S. Nagarajan has been appointed the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, succeeding D. Jagannathan.
S. Vijayakumar will take over as Commissioner of Land Reforms, following T.N. Hariharan’s retirement.
