The theme of this Dream Collaboration is ‘Love Confession’. Barrett vowed to confess someday after falling in love with Dale, and practiced it. (♡´艸`)
It's definitely the best love confession Barrett can make. haha- Of course, no matter how Dale answers, he will take it as "YES." Poor Dale. (*Sigh*)

Starkid Les Misérables
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sing the anthem of the people, for the Starkid dreamcast for Les Misérables is here! Tumblr ate the ask for this one, but I was more than happy to create this one as Les Mis is one of my favorite shows and another classic I did with my school (I was Bamatabotis/Grantaire). This took a little more time than usual due to the sheer size of the cast and several changes were made to it (for a while I had Robert as Enjolras) but I think this is one of my best yet! Also all the actors play parts of the chorus as well (in case that wasn’t clear, Les Mis has a lot of bit parts.)
1. Dylan Saunders as Jean Valjean 2. Robert Manion as Javert 3. Meredith Stepien as Fantine 4. Jeff Blim as Thenardier 5. Jaime Lyn Beatty as Madame Thenardier 6. Kim Whalen as Cosette 7. Brian Rosenthal as Marius 8. Mariah Rose Faith as Eponine 9. Curt Mega as Enjolras 10. Lauren Lopez as Gavorche/Young Eponine 11. Kendall Nicole Yakshe as Young Cosette/Ensemble 12. Brian Holden as Grantaire/Bamatabotis/Chain Gang/Drinker/Thenardier (u/s) 13. Joe Walker as Bishop of Digne/Majordomo/Factory Worker/Onlooker 14. The much-talked about production did not disappoint; the modernized visuals create many new layers to the show, and make you think about events and characters in a whole new way. Nehal, Allison, Justin, and Christia were probably my favorites, but the entire cast is so talented, it’s difficult to choose any as standouts. A very nice capture overall. There are a couple quick dropouts in act one, but no major blackouts. There is one head that can be seen occasionally, but it only blocks a small portion of the stage and only affects the action for about 20-30 seconds of the entire show. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent as usual. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. Les Misérables - Duisburg - 1996 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (SD) CAST: Jerzy Jeszke (Jean Valjean), Hardy Rudolz (Javert), Cornelia Drese (Fantine), Deborah Dutcher (Cosette), Felix Martin (Marius), Sanni Luis (Éponine), Martin Berger (Enjolras), Tom Zahner (Thénardier), Anne Welte (Madame Thénardier), Willi Welp (The Bishop) Les Misérables - Dutch Revival - Spring, 2008 FORMAT:  MP4 (SD) CAST: René van Kooten (Jean Valjean), Wim van den Driessche (Javert), Nurlaila Karim (Fantine), Suzan Seegers (Cosette), Jamai Loman (Marius), Céline Purcell (Éponine), Freek Bartels (Enjolras), Gerben Grimmius (u/s Thénardier), Marjolein Algera (Madame Thénardier) NOTES: Complete show, Amateur capture A, Double dvd Les Misérables - Fifth National Tour - October 5, 2018 (hitmewithyourbethshot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Nick Cartell (Jean Valjean), Josh Davis (Javert), Mary Kate Moore (Fantine), Jillian Butler (Cosette), Joshua Grosso (Marius), Paige Smallwood (Éponine), Matt Shingledecker (Enjolras), J Anthony Crane (Thénardier), Allison Guinn (Madame Thénardier), Sam Middleton (Gavroche), Cate Elefante (u/s Little Cosette), Matt Moisey (Grantaire), Monte J Howell (Combeferre), Tim Quartier (s/w Feuilly), Christopher Viljoen (Courfeyrac), Patrick Rooney (Jean Prouvaire), Gabriel Sidney Brown (Joly), Andrew Maughan (Lesgles), Felipe Barbosa Bombonato (Babet), John Ambrosino (Claquesous), Steve Czarnecki (Factory Foreman), Ashley Dawn Mortensen (Factory Girl), John Ambrosino (Bamatabois) Les Misérables - First Broadway Revival - November 11, 2006 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Victor Hawks (u/s Jean Valjean), Norm Lewis (Javert), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Fantine), Ali Ewoldt (Cosette), Adam Jacobs (Marius), Celia Keenan-Bolger (Éponine), Aaron Lazar (Enjolras), Gary Beach (Thénardier), Jenny Galloway (Madame Thénardier), Jacob Levine (Gavroche), Drew Sarich (Grantaire) NOTES: A nice capture here of Victor as Valjean. The capture is a little on the dark side, but still enjoyable. Les Misérables - First Broadway Revival - February 17, 2007 FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Alexander Gemignani (Jean Valjean), Norm Lewis (Javert), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Fantine), Ali Ewoldt (Cosette), Adam Jacobs (Marius), Celia Keenan-Bolger (Éponine), Drew Sarich (u/s Enjolras), Gary Beach (Thénardier), Jenny Galloway (Madame Thénardier), Jacob Levine (Gavroche) NOTES: A really nice video of the first broadway revival. Widescreen. Cleaned up nicely in remastering. And it has Sarich. Les Misérables - First Broadway Revival - May 12, 2007 (Matinee) (jstarz's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Alexander Gemignani (Jean Valjean), Drew Sarich (u/s Javert), Lea Salonga (Fantine), Ali Ewoldt (Cosette), Adam Jacobs (Marius), Mandy Bruno (Éponine), Max von Essen (Enjolras), Gary Beach (Thénardier), Ann Harada (Madame Thénardier), Stephen Trafton (u/s Grantaire) NOTES: Filmed in widescreen (though encoded in 4:3, so there are bars at the top and bottom of the screen), this is a nice capture of some of the new cast members. Drew and Ann give great performances in their roles. The second disc also includes the first 15 minutes of the February 24, 2007 Evening show, filmed from the rear right orchestra. Les Misérables - First Broadway Revival - June 1, 2007 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Alexander Gemignani (Jean Valjean), Ben Davis (Javert), Lea Salonga (Fantine), Ali Ewoldt (Cosette), Adam Jacobs (Marius), Marissa McGowan (Éponine), Max von Essen (Enjolras), Gary Beach (Thénardier), Ann Harada (Madame Thénardier) Les Misérables - First Broadway Revival - August 24, 2007 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Drew Sarich (Jean Valjean), Robert Hunt (Javert), Nikki Renée Daniels (u/s Fantine), Ali Ewoldt (Cosette), Adam Jacobs (Marius), Megan McGinnis (Éponine), Max von Essen (Enjolras), Chip Zien (Thénardier), Becca Ayers (u/s Madame Thénardier), Brian D'Addario (Gavroche) NOTES: Some nice closeups/mediums. A nice capture of the new cast. Capture can be dark at times, but mostly in the darker scenes. Includes a technical difficulty when the Barricades first come out, the show is stopped and includes the announcement.. A- Les Misérables - Fourth UK & Ireland Tour - January, 2019 (House-Cam's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Killian Donnelly (Jean Valjean), Nic Greenshields (Javert), Katie Hall (Fantine), Bronwen Hanson (Cosette), Harry Apps (Marius), Tegan Bannister (Éponine), Will Richardson (Enjolras), Martin Ball (Thénardier), Sophie-Louise Dann (Madame Thénardier) Les Misérables - Hollywood Bowl - August 9, 2008 FORMAT:  WMV (HD) CAST: J Mark McVey (Jean Valjean), Brian Stokes Mitchell (Javert), Melora Hardin (Fantine), Michele Maika (Cosette), John Lloyd Young (Marius), Lea Michele (Éponine), Tom Lowe (Enjolras), Sage Ryan (Gavroche) NOTES: J. Mark McVey, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Lea Michele, Melora Hardin, John Lloyd Young, Michele Maika, Michael McCormick, Tom Lowe, Ruth Williamson. Juni's master filmed in widescreen and can be a little shakey at times in tight zooms. Nice to see the audience version compared to the Proshot one. A- Les Misérables - Japan - 1997

Les Misérables - Paris - 1991 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Robert Marien (Jean Valjean), Patrick Rocca (Javert), Marie Zamora (Cosette), Jérôme Pradon (Marius), Stéphanie Martin (Éponine), Julien Combey (Enjolras), Laurent Gendron (Thénardier), Marie-France Roussel (Madame Thénardier) NOTES: Act 1 + finale of act 2. This is 100% NOT Louise Pitre playing Fantine Les Misérables - Second Broadway Revival - March 1, 2014 (Preview) (Highlights) (where is your red schaaaf's master) FORMAT:  MOV (HD) CAST: Ramin Karimloo (Jean Valjean), Will Swenson (Javert), Caissie Levy (Fantine), Samantha Hill (Cosette), Andy Mientus (Marius), Nikki M James (Éponine), Kyle Scatliffe (Enjolras), Cliff Saunders (Thénardier), Keala Settle (Madame Thénardier), Gaten Matarazzo (Gavroche) NOTES: First preview. It includes most of the show. Loud excited audience. Blind shot from stage right third row, with no zooms. Keala Settle sprained her ankle at some point between The Robbery and One Day More, resulting in her not being in One Day More and using a cane during Wedding Chorale/Beggars at the Feast. Les Misérables - Second Broadway Revival - March 8, 2014 (Preview) (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (SD) CAST: Ramin Karimloo (Jean Valjean), Will Swenson (Javert), Caissie Levy (Fantine), Samantha Hill (Cosette), Andy Mientus (Marius), Nikki M James (Éponine), Kyle Scatliffe (Enjolras), Cliff Saunders (Thénardier), Keala Settle (Madame Thénardier), Joshua Colley (Gavroche) NOTES: Audience was full of excitement! It’s refreshing to see different faces in the lead roles, and both Nathaniel and Earl carry the show well. Nathaniel’s vocals are powerful and he has a great rapport with Caissie and Samantha. A lovely capture overall with no obstruction. Look Down is mostly blacked out and there are a couple quick dropouts during The Bishop scene and Lovely Ladies, but the show is otherwise fully intact. There is also some washout in high contrast wide shots. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. Les Misérables - Second Broadway Revival - July 1, 2015 FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Ramin Karimloo (Jean Valjean), John Rapson (u/s Javert), Erika Henningsen (Fantine), Melissa Mitchell (u/s Cosette), Chris McCarrell (Marius), Brennyn Lark (Éponine), Wallace Smith (Enjolras), Gavin Lee (Thénardier), Rachel Izen (Madame Thénardier), Sam Chuck (Gavroche), Joe Spieldenner (Grantaire), Weston Wells Olson (s/w Combeferre) NOTES: Act I begins at "The Runaway Cart" and nearly complete Act II. Some obstructions, but audio is quite good. Rapson's last Javert. Les Misérables - Spanish Tour - December 21, 2013 (House-Cam's master)

Definitely a different performance too.
Les Misérables - Third UK (25th Anniversary) Tour - June 20, 2010 (thewho's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: John Owen-Jones (Jean Valjean), Earl Carpenter (Javert), Madalena Alberto (Fantine), Katie Hall (Cosette), Luke Kempner (u/s Marius), Rosalind James (Éponine), Jon Robyns (Enjolras), Ashley Artus (Thénardier), Lynne Wilmott (Madame Thénardier), Jordi Clark (Gavroche), David Lawrence (The Bishop), Adam Linstead (Grantaire), David Covey (Combeferre), Owain Williams (Feuilly), Christopher Jacobsen (Courfeyrac), Rhidian Marc (Joly), David Lawrence (Lesgles), Carl Mullaney (Claquesous), Carl Mullaney (Bamatabois) NOTES: Act 1 starts at At The End of the Day, Act 2 starts at Drink with me. okay quality though blurry and shaky throughout. First time in history two same productions of a major musical played in the same city. Les Misérables - West End - May 9, 1987 (House-Cam's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (SD) CAST: Martin Smith (u/s Jean Valjean), Clive Carter (Javert), Kathleen Rowe McAllen (Fantine), Jacinta Mulcahy (Cosette), Maurice Clarke (u/s Marius), Jayne Draper (Éponine), Martin George (Enjolras), David Delve (Thénardier), Myra Sand (Madame Thénardier), Cameron Stewart (u/s Grantaire) NOTES: Commonly mistaken as December 28, 1988! Martin Smith was part of the West End cast for 6 months starting December 1986, and the non-circulated first-generation DVD labels the date as 1987/05/09. Les Misérables - West End - December 28, 1991 (House-Cam's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Stig Rossen (Jean Valjean), Paul Leonard (Javert), Jenna Russell (Fantine), Sarah Jane Hassell (Cosette), Daryll Winslow (Marius), Meredith Braun (Éponine), Mike Sterling (u/s Enjolras), David Hampshire (u/s The Bishop), Amanda Dainty (u/s Factory Girl) NOTES: Black and white. Audio is nice and clear. A more rare color version does exist. (Proof: https://youtu.be/KI_KHnLwk_k) Les Misérables - West End - May 6, 2006 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Tim Godwin (u/s Jean Valjean), Cornell John (Javert), Kerry Ellis (Fantine), Julia Möller (Cosette), Hayden Tee (Marius), AJ Callaghan (u/s Éponine), Nolan Dark (u/s Enjolras), Barry James (Thénardier), Tracie Bennett (Madame Thénardier) NOTES: Taper’s comments: Amanda and Nolan are better than the principles and Tim sounds uncannily like JOJ (Home Counties accent not-withstanding). He first understudied in 1999, when JOJ was the principal, which may explain the similarity. About half of the Chain Gang song missing and filming starts in earnest during Valjean on parole. Other parts missed because of ushers include several random one-second cover-ups, part of the wedding and about half of Finale. Heads in the way sometimes block the action on the lower right of the stage, but they are shot around well. Vantage point provides some interesting views such as of Fantine during Lovely Ladies. Wonderful performances from the entire cast but especially then soon-to-be-Elphaba Kerry Ellis. Les Misérables - West End - September 19, 2013 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Daniel Koek (Jean Valjean), James Gant (u/s Javert), Na-Young Jeon (Fantine), Samantha Dorsey (Cosette), Rob Houchen (Marius), Carrie Hope Fletcher (Éponine), Anton Zetterholm (Enjolras), Cameron Blakely (Thénardier), Wendy Ferguson (Madame Thénardier), Ilan Galkoff (Gavroche), Caoimhe Judd (Little Cosette) Les Misérables - West End - June 14, 2014 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Daniel Koek (Jean Valjean), Tam Mutu (Javert), Na-Young Jeon (Fantine), Samantha Dorsey (Cosette), Dougie Carter (Marius), Carrie Hope Fletcher (Éponine), Anton Zetterholm (Enjolras), Cameron Blakely (Thénardier), Wendy Ferguson (Madame Thénardier), Carl Mullaney (Grantaire) NOTES: Final performance of the 2013/14 cast Les Misérables - West End - July 9, 2015 (Highlights) (musicalmania123's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Peter Lockyer (Jean Valjean), Jeremy Secomb (Javert), Rachelle Ann Go (Fantine), Zoe Doano (Cosette), Rob Houchen (Marius), Carrie Hope Fletcher (Éponine), Bradley Jaden (Enjolras), Phil Daniels (Thénardier), Katy Secombe (Madame Thénardier) NOTES: Highlights only. “MYSTERY MAN IS NOT MISSING MILLIONAIRE,” Toronto Star. April 23, 1921. Page 2. ---- But "George Cox" of Verona Cannot Be Interviewed To-day. ---- Where is "George Cox?" The mystery of the "mystery man," whom Constable Tallon, of Verona. claims to be Ambrose Small deepens, in that the whereabouts of Cox cannot be ascertained. He came to Toronto on Thursday, and he appears! to have disappeared yesterday, after spending a few hours with the constable's relatives at 1985. Dundas st.
The Star called at the house this morning to interview "Mr. Cox."
"He is,not here," said one of the lady occupants of the house, "and we haven't anything to say concerning him."
"He has been staying here with Fallon's relatives?" queried The Star. "He was here on a very short visit, but he has gone," was the reply.
"Can you tell me where he is?"
"No, I don't know."
"Does that mean that if you did know you would not tell?"
"That's just it; you've hit it exactly," was the reply. The lady spoken to refused to say when Cox and his policeman companion took their departure, but volunteered the information that a "story" in a morning newspaper to the effect that the Grand Opera House barber had seen Cox at the house, was untrue.
"The man saw no one while he was here nor did he say anything about who he was or why he had come to Toronto."
See by The Star, George Howarth, proprietor of the opera house barber shop, Adelaide street, said he was telephoned to go to Dundas street on Wednesday night to see the man, but being satisfied from what he had heard that the man was not Small he declined to go.
The Star learned this morning that Irving Cowan, manager of the Grand Opera House, has "looked the man over" and is satisfied that he is not his missing employer. "He is nothing like him," says Mr. Cowan. "The action of the constable in bringing the man to Toronto is absurd," stated Mrs. Ambrose Small to The Star when asked if she had seen. the "mystery man" from Verona.. "Mr. Brannigan, who was Mr. Small's manager at Kingston- for twenty years, saw the man and states he is not the man. Sergt. Mitchell also is satisfied he is not Mr. Small. I suppose the constable is looking for notoriety and the next thing we will hear he will be in the movies."

The fun is two for one, for it’s the Starkid dreamcast for Tuck Everlasting! Tuck Everlasting the musical gave me an appreciation for a story that I hated when I first read the book, with I think is a testament to the power of the music of the show. That said, I thought this cast is pretty good, though I again took some liberties with the children characters.

The (Recovered) Ballad of Dante Desiderio
(AN: This ages old ballad was recovered from poor storing conditions in the long abandoned wing of a library located in Maluita, Mexico. This is all that was recovered from the text. Obscured letters are represented by X.)

The wicked constable accepted compensation From wicked men like him, hiding from honorable men of the nation Turning a blind eye to crime Only if they couldn’t pay up, did they ever serve time.                                       Policing Memories of
           Garry Crawford Circa 1962
                         Part XIII
               The Rookie from Killarney
As I look back to the year 1972 I remember some of the good times I enjoyed with my fellow members of the OPP. One of those was Morgan Pitfield who was born and raised in Killarney Ontario. I call him a rookie because he had a little less seniority than I. He was stationed in Sudbury when I first met him and became active and proved himself as a good investigator. He eventually was posted as a Constable Detachment Commander back at his home town of Killarney. To most people this would seem as an isolated posting. However; there were not many months that went by that you did not hear of Morgan being involved in some kind of an altercation or investigation.
When I went through the promotional process from Constable to Corporal usually Morgan was going through the same beside me. On completion, I was promoted and posted to Wawa, Morgan was eventually promoted and posted to Monitowaning on Manitoulin Island. Morgan and I would run into each other either on course or while on a pleasure trip. Morgan had a weird sense of humour and as I was similarly endowed, we frequently played a practical joke on each other. He probably played the best one I have ever had pulled on me. I had bought a new Buick LaSabre in the summer of 1971. In mid April of 1972 I happened to be on a Supervisory Course at the Ontario Police College at Aylmer. Morgan Pitfield of Manitowaning was on the same course with me as was Don MCMillan of Soo PD and Bob Patterson from GHQ Special Services. The four of us would quite regularly gather in my room, have a drink after supper and play cards. The course was pretty straightforward and did not require a whole lot of work after class. Just a short time before Morgan came down he had got into some kind of an altercation with a plate glass door. In the process he had obtained a very serious cut to the palm of his hand requiring many stitches.
We had just played a round or two of cards, when Morgan announces he had to go to down town Aylmer; to see a doctor; and have the stitches removed  from his hand. Morgan asked me if he could borrow my new Buick to make the trip. I was pretty proud of this car, I had nick named it THE TANK. It was really nice to drive but it was big and did somewhat resemble a tank. I really liked Morgan, so I did not hesitate to loan him the car.  It was about half an hour later there was a noise at the door. There stood Morgan, he had left with a light coloured trench coat on. The coat was now dirty and he had it wrapped around his arm like a bandage and was holding the arm. He had dirt all over his face and a real worried look on his face. He said: Garry can I see you outside, I had a little trouble with your car. I was sitting at the back of the table, I scrambled to my feet and made for the door. Morgan turned and walked back out of the building. I was following him as fast as I could. All I could think was he must have gotten into an accident, he had liquor on his breath, Oh my gosh! He has left the scene of an accident. I was just about hyperventilating at this point. Thinking of all the trouble we would be in. As Morgan got out the door, he dropped on the porch steps, all doubled over and started laughing. He said something like: I really got you this time.
He finally admitted that he had gone and got the stitches out and had formed this plan after he got back to the college. Just before he came up the steps he rubbed his hand in some dirt, rubbed in over his face and his coat.
Morgan and I would bump into one another through our careers. He finally retired and moved back to a home in Killarney. I use to try to make a point once a year of going to Killarney for their favourite fish and chips. I would try to have a short visit with Morgan each time. The last time I went I stopped in, but he was in a fight of his life with that dreaded  big C. Morgan has passed now but I think of him often. He was a great police officer and a super person. I regret I never got even for his great joke.
                              FAST EDDY
Ed Zelionis was one of the Constables at Wawa Detachment. He had been there for what seemed like forever. He had met and married his wife Kathy in Wawa. He was the District Dive Master for the OPP and was very active in the local flying circles. He got nicked named fast Eddy because everything he did was fast. The thing that I found over the years, was that Eddy would act fast but under very stressful situations he could remain calm and think and act. I don’tmean to say that he never was wrong, he made mistakes as did I. I will tell a couple of stories about Fast Eddy.
I remember Dave Cox in Wawa purchasing a Cessna 170A aircraft. Dave owned and operated an Esso Service station just south of Wawa. He had open heart surgery and for that reason he could not fly his aircraft on his own, but there was nothing stopping him from flying with a qualified pilot in the seat beside him. One day while at the airport Dave came down and wanted a flying lesson. Ed volunteered to be his pilot instructor.
Dave was at the controls, Ed was in the seat beside him I was in the back seat behind Dave and another pilot was in the seat behind Eddy. Eddy had walked Dave through the walk around and seen that he checked everything properly. Dave did his warm up under Ed’s direction we moved down the runway and Dave took the plane up. The plane was climbing too fast and I overheard Ed say to Dave: Push the nose down. He said it two more times very quickly and I heard Dave say I cannot. Ed said no more, he took the butt of his hand and slammed it against the controls on his side of the plane. The plane quickly dropped its nose and stabilized.
If we had continued our climb at that steep angle, the aircraft would have stalled and we would have crashed . With the plane acting normally we had a short flight then landed back at Wawa. On examining the elevator at the tail of the aircraft, we were able the see what had happened.
The runway at that time was not paved. While making our take off run the aircraft had kicked up a sharp stone that wedged itself in the hinge of the elevator. If it had not been for Ed’s quick reaction we definitely would have crashed. When he smacked his hand against the control, it had caused the aluminum at the hinge to bend enough and let the stone fall out.
There were several times I either witnessed or heard a story of Ed acting similarly. He got in several jackpots during my years there, but he always seemed to make the last minute decisions that counted. I became involved as a search and rescue coordinator after being there a few years. I remember one night I was home and acting Detachment Commander. I received a call around 5PM from the Detachment. The person calling advised that Ed had been scheduled to report for duty at 4PM. He had not arrived and when the dispatcher phoned his residence he learned from Kathy that Ed had left early and was going to make a short flight before going in to work. A check at the airport revealed his plane was not there. I called several of my pilot friends and ask them to meet me at the airport. The temperature that night was about -35oF with a strong wind blowing. We had a quick meeting and decided because of the cold, if there had been a crash and injuries the person would not survive long. Trenton search and rescue would take hours to be in the area, so we decided to make an immediate search of the lakes using our landing lights. We took four planes and using Wawa as a central area divided the area off into four quadrants. Each plane was assigned an area to search and starting from the east side would do a north south grid checking the lakes in their section. In this way we hoped to avoid being near each other. Each plane was to keep others advised by radio as to their positions. I jumped in with Don Davidson in a Cessna 180. We had searched for a little over an hour when we received word that Ed had walked out and was at the Helen Mine Office. On our return to Wawa we passed over a small lake located just north of the mountain that the mine offices are situated on. Ed’s plane could clearly be seen on the lake. Ed was transported to the hospital for a check up then transported to his home. I learned the full story the following day. Ed was dressed for work as I remember when he took his flight. He only had his work boots with pullover galoshes. He did have his Parka I believe. He was flying north of the mine when the carburetor froze up and the motor stopped. He made a dead stick landing on the frozen lake. There was approximately 4 feet of snow on the lake surface. Ed was successful in getting the motor started again, however he could not make a take off run because the snow was too deep. He shut the motor down and took a pair of bear paw snowshoes he had in the airplane and packed down a runway on the lake. This took quite a bit of time. He had taken a couple of garbage bags and pulled then on over his galoshes to keep the snow out of his boots. It was extremely cold, by the time he had packed the runway down, the airplane would not start again.
Ed elected to walk up to the mine office; which was over a mile away and top of the mountain. I would estimate the mountain at that point is close to a thousand feet high. It was extremely deep snow; because of the drifting on the hillside. Ed no doubt was into deep hyperthermia, he was successful and made it to the offices. They were closed when he arrived but luckily for him, there were two ladies who were employed to clean the offices at night. The two ladies were wise in the ways of the north and quickly stripped Ed of his wet cold clothes and had him sitting in warmed blankets with his feet in a tub of warm water and drinking warm soup. I guess it was some sight. The two ladies were talking to each other and one said: You know I can remember about ten years ago a pilot had the same thing happen where he had his engine stop. He also made it up to the offices hear. A very tired cold Eddy spoke up: Yes that was me!
The story does not quite end there, as Ed told me when he went home that night. He could not go to sleep. It was just stubborn determined action on his part that he survived. He said that on his way up the mountain there was a dozen times he wanted to just lay down. He knew if he did he would not survive. When he went to bed at home he was exhausted, he would start to dose off and would think that he was just dreaming and wake himself up to travel on. He had trouble distinguishing between reality and a dream. He was still fighting in his mind to survive and make the top of the mountain. I have thought of his experience often over the years and thank the stars that Ed is the stubborn person that he is. We had a lot of good people who served in Wawa I hope to tell you about some other experiences in future submissions.

“Burglar Gets Two Years in Penitentiary,” Barrie Examiner. December 1, 1932. Page 7. ---- Phelpston and Tottenham ‘Jobs’ Cleared Up by Provincial Police ---- ESCAPED INMATE -- Pleading guilty to four charges - two of breaking and entering, and two of theft of motor cars - Ernest Bean, aged 25, no home, appeared in Barrie Police Court before Magistrate Jeffs this morning, and was sentenced to two years in Portsmouth Penitentiary at Kingston on each charge, sentences to run concurrently.
Arrest and conviction of Bean closes a chapter of thorough investigation by Provincial Police of Barrie following a series of escapades during the month of September. Wanted on several changes, the man finally gave himself up on the main street of Barrie to Inspector Richard Cox and Constable Thomas McDonough.
Bean was charged with breaking into the general store of James McGinnis at Phelpston during the night of September 5; theft of an Oldsmobile sedan of George Wicklum at Phelpston on the same occasion; breaking and entering Moran’s garage at Tottenham on September 12; and theft of a Ford car from Mrs. Henriette Lowrey at Tottenham on September 10. The Wicklum car was later found abaonded near Utopia.
Provincial Constable H. T. Hanmer and James McGinnis testified in court today.
Bean escaped from Mimico in August and has been wanted ever since. In court today he said he would rather not go back to Mimico. His companion in crime, Gordon VanSickle, is now serving three years in the penitentiary, after being convicted at Thamesville.
[AL: Bean, also known as Ernest Scott, had indeed been on the lam from Mimico - the Guelph Reformatory operated a brick plant for young convicts at Mimico. It was his second time there. Bean had also been in the Oakalla Prison in Burnaby, BC. He was 25, from England, claimed to be an abstainer from alcohol, and he was missing the middle finger on his right hand. He was sentenced at both Barrie and Sarnia and had three years, not two. Bean was convict #2894 at Kingston Penitentiary, and worked in the mason department. He was mostly a well-behaved prisoner, though his second and third reports occurred November, 1934, when he was reported for fighting in his workshop and then the next day assaulting the same convict, and received seven days No. 2 diet and confinement in east cell block. He was reported again on February 3, 1935 for passing a magazine to another convict - lost his smoking privileges for a week. He was released May 1935, but Bean would return several times in 1936, 1939, 1942 and 1946.]

Bouvier’s Law Dictionary and Concise Encyclopedia, 1914
Page 2963: RIOT. A tumultuous disturbance of the peace by three persons or more, assembling together of their own authority with an intent mutually to assist each other against any who shall oppose them, in the execution of some enterprise of a private nature, and afterwards actually executing the same in a violent and turbulent manner, to the terror of the people, whether the act intended were of itself lawful or unlawful. ….
”An unlawful assembly which has actually begun to execute the purpose for which it is assembled, by a breach of the peace, and to the terror of the public or a lawful assembly, may become a riot if the persons assembled form and proceed to execute an unlawful purpose to the terror of the people, although they had not that purpose when they assembled." …..
An unlawful assembly is, an assembly of three or more persons who meet together for a common purpose in such a manner that a breach of the peace may be apprehended from their conduct. Police authorities may disperse an unlawful assembly, but may only use slight force, unless there is reason to apprehend Immediate violence on the part of the mob; Odgers, C.L. 156. As soon as an unlawful assembly starts from its place of meeting to carry out its purpose, it becomes a rout; as soon as it begins to carry out that purpose in violence and in obvious defiance of the authorities, it becomes a riot.
There are five necessary elements of a riot; three persons at least; a common purpose; execution or inception of that purpose; an attempt to help one another by i force if necessary; force or violence displayI ed in such a manner as to alarm one person having reasonable courage; [1907] 2 K.B. 860.
In England it is an indictable misdemeanor for a person to refuse to take part in suppressing a riot when called upon to do so by a justice of the peace or constable. A justice of the peace must read the statutory proclamation, If necessary, and take whatever subsequent steps are necessary to disperse the rioters. After the lapse of an hour from the reading of the riot act, or, because of violence by the mob, within the hour, it is the duty of the civil authorities to stop the riot at whatever cost; and deadly weapons may then be used. Rioting, after the lapse of an hour, was a felony; Odgers, C.L. 161.
Page 2964: There must be proved—first, an unlawful assembling; State v. Renton, 15 N. H. 169; for if a number of persons lawfully met together, as, for example, at a fire, or in a theatre or a church, should suddenly quarrel and fight, the offense is an affray, and not a riot, because there was no unlawful assembling; but If three or more being so assembled, on a dispute occurring, form into parties with promises of mutual assistance, which promises may be expressed, or implied from the circumstances, then the offense will no longer be an affray, but a riot; the unlawful combination will amount to an assembling within the meaning of the law. In this manner any lawful assembly may be converted into a riot:  …… Any one who joins the rioters after they have actually commenced is equally guilty as if he had joined them while assembling.
Secondly, proof must be made of actual violence and force on the part of the rioters, or of such circumstances as have an apparent tendency to force and violence, and calculated to strike terror into the public mind; …… The definition requires that the offenders should assemble of their own authority, in order to create a riot; if, therefore, the parties act under the authority of the law, they may use any necessary force to enforce their mandate, without committing this offense. ….
Thirdly, evidence must be given that the defendants acted in the riot and were participants in the disturbance; …… It is sufficient if they be present encouraging or giving countenance, support, or acquiescence to the act; …… Women and infants above, but not those under, the age of discretion are punishable as rioters; …..
In a case growing out of the riots in Pittsburg in 1877, under a statute making a county liable for the property "situated" therein, when destroyed by a mob, the liability was held to attach to property owned by a non-resident of the state, in transit in possession of a common carrier; …..
In the absence of a statute giving a remedy, municipal corporations are not liable for damages resulting in loss of life from the acts of a mob or riotous assemblage, no matter what the negligence of the city officials may have been; …..
RIOT ACT. The stat. 1 Geo. I. st. 2, c. 5. It forbade the unlawful assembling of
twelve persons or more to the disturbance of the peace. If they continue together for one hour after the sheriff, mayor, etc., has commanded them to disperse, such contempt shall be felony. Stat 24 & 25 Vict. c. 97, s. 11, requires that, in order to constitute felony, the riotous act must consist in demolishing, or beginning to demolish, some building; Moz. & W.; Cox & S. Cr. Law 104.
By statute 1 Geo. I., the Riot Act, which is directed to be read in a loud voice by a justice of the peace or other person authorized by the act, is to be in the following words or in words of like effect: "Our Sovereign Lord the King chargeth and commandeth all persons, being assembled, immediately to disperse themselves, and peaceably to depart to their habitations, or to their lawful business, upon the pains contained in the act made in the first year of King George for preventing tumults and riotous assemblies. God save the King."
Persons who willfully obstruct or hinder the reading of the proclamation are guilty of felony, and if the proclamation would have been read had it not been prevented by the interference of any person or persons, any twelve or more persons who remain together after the proclamation would have been read, are guilty of felony, as if the act had been read. See 21 St. Tr. 485.
RIOTOUSLY. In Pleading. A technical word, properly used in an indictment for a riot, which of itself implies violence. 2 Sess. Cas. Sc. 13; 2 Stra. 834; 2 Chitty, Cr. Law 489.
