Factors That Affect the Cost of CPQ Implementation
Sales reps and self-service clients may generate precise quotations for items with several flexible options using CPQ software, which is typically impossible. It is often an add-on for CRM platforms that helps generate quotes rapidly.
The way sellers monitor deals, add line items to invoices, and create quotations is changing, thanks to CPQ systems. Yet without a sound plan for implementing new software, CPQ investments will be unsuccessful for several reasons, including internal employee opposition, inadequate CPQ onboarding, training, CPQ implementation guide, and generally low CPQ acceptance.
What Exactly Is a CPQ Implementation?
A CPQ solution entails setting up product dependencies, pricing models, discount policies, and quote-generating algorithms that will calculate how much a customer's purchase will cost based on their selected product combinations.
The end-user onboarding procedure, which includes CPQ training, CPQ customer experience, and performance assistance for users utilizing these platforms, is also planned as part of a CPQ deployment strategy. A solid CPQ implementation plan encourages end-user acceptance, ensuring a return on your investment in the digital transformation of CPQ.
Difficulties in Implementing CPQ
If too many project stakeholders are involved, your CPQ implementation will encounter problems. This isn't to say that having too many approvers with differing opinions on how the project should be carried out is inherently problematic; rather, it just means that problems are almost certain to arise.
When the proper price value and dynamic rules are not entered into your CPQ systems, poor data management also causes issues.
Consider a CPQ processor as a calculator that needs the correct pricing rules, bundles, and accounting for various price and discount schemes to function at its best.
Factors That Affect the Cost of CPQ implementation
CPQ Software Implementation is a complex process that involves several factors that can impact its cost. Here are some of the factors that affect the cost of CPQ implementation:
1. Scope of the project: The size and complexity of the CPQ project will directly impact the cost of CPQ implementation. A larger project will require more resources and time, requiring higher costs.
2. Integration requirements: If the CPQ system needs integration with other systems such as CRM, ERP, or e-commerce platforms, it will require additional development and integration work. The complexity of integration will affect the cost of the project.
3. Customization needs: Customizations are often required to make the CPQ system work according to specific business needs. Customizations can add additional costs to the CPQ Software Implementation process.
4. Data migration: If data migration is needed from an existing system to the new CPQ system, it could add to the complexity and cost of the CPQ Software Implementation.
5. User training and adoption: User training and adoption are critical to the success of CPQ implementation. Additional resources may be required to train users and ensure that the system is adopted effectively, which can increase the project's cost.
6. Vendor selection: The cost of CPQ Software Implementation will vary depending on the vendor selected. Some vendors charge higher fees for their services, while others offer more affordable solutions.
7. Maintenance and support: The ongoing maintenance and support of the CPQ system is an important consideration when calculating the total cost of ownership. The cost of maintenance and support can vary depending on the vendor and the required support level.
Summing Up
Compared to sending prospects many spreadsheets for each change to a quotation, CPQ software gives your sales staff superpowers. It will instantly let you develop correct dynamic offers and reduce response times.
KBMax will assist you in hastening the adoption of CPQ Software Implementation by providing your sales staff with on-demand training materials that they can access directly from your CRM.
Use Kbmax as a canvas on top of your CRM dashboard to provide tips, explainers, and walkthrough videos showing your sales team and other teams involved in the product development process how to use your CRM to its full potential. Contact Kbmax CPQ experts to learn more about CPQ implementation; you can also check KBMax CPQ Reviews to know how our clients feel after successful CPQ implementation.

The Cloud and CPQ: Driving Growth in More Ways than One
A recent report from respected independent market analysis firm Forrester Research notes the rapid growth in the adoption of Configure-Price-Quote (CPQ) solutions. Why should tech-minded marketers care? Because the Forrester WaveTM: Configure-Price-Quote Solutions, Q1 2017 report details how CPQ enables users to grow business across channels and expand into new verticals.
Until recently, most marketers thought of CPQ solutions as a sales tool. Some marketers still feel that way, but those who recognize how digital tools have shifted the purchasing landscape, and made closer collaboration between sales and marketing imperative, are embracing CPQ as part of the marketing technology solutions stack. The cloud is driving CPQ usage growth, but CPQ is contributing to other kinds of growth in capabilities and revenue.
How CPQ Evolved
The right CPQ solution makes quote creation a simple point-and-click process, but that’s not all. It also significantly streamlines the customer experience, which is a huge benefit for every department, including marketing and operations business units. And it helps marketing and sales teams work together more efficiently to close deals faster — and increase revenue.
Originally, CPQ evolved to help companies deal with complex products where a number of variables could come into play that would determine the ultimate product package and price. As it matured, CPQ began to touch virtually every business unit in the enterprise, bringing diverse lines of business together and equipping consultative salespeople with the information they need to recommend comprehensive solution packages to customers.
As it evolved, CPQ caught the attention of marketers who recognized the fact that selling had changed, with more buyers in on every purchase decision (particularly for complex products) and the buyer journey extending much further than it once did before prospects contact a sales professional. CPQ also enables omnichannel sales, which encompass direct sales as well as selling by partners, dealers and distributors. It empowers self-service channels, automated ordering and enables greater accuracy in customer service.
Another important aspect of CPQ growth is its emergence in new verticals. CPQ usage was once mostly confined to companies that sell technology products and to custom manufacturers, since those products tend to be complex, with many variables and configuration options, and the companies that sell them are typically heavily invested in enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions. But customization and personalization are tool used by an increasing number of businesses, so CPQ has become an indispensable component of the sales process. As features such as price optimization, guided selling and dynamic document creation come to the fore, new verticals such as insurance, financial services and telecommunications began to take notice.
The Migration to the Cloud Drives CPQ Growth
That last point — the association of CPQ solutions with companies that invest in ERP — explains in part how the migration to the cloud has driven CPQ growth. A recent Gartner report estimates that the CPQ industry will grow 20 percent through 2020, and a key driver will be companies replacing legacy on-premise CPQ apps with cloud-based solutions. But as they move to cloud-based CPQ solutions, companies are also looking for ways to upgrade CPQ functionality.
One feature companies are increasingly demanding of CPQ solutions is an offline mobile application that can allow employees to use CPQ on the road, a function that’s more important than ever as workforces become more mobile. And since modern CPQ systems are cloud-based, customers expect them to scale across channels and integrate with CRM solutions more readily than on-premises systems typically do.
As the Cloud Drives Growth, So Does CPQ
For maximum benefit, a CPQ solution should be linked to contracts, incentive compensation, content, and training, according to Forrester. These capabilities enable users to deploy CPQ as a seller-focused technology and future-proof the investment as additional applications are added to the solution stack.
Solutions that enable the use of AI to change deal values in on-going proposals are groundbreaking for salespeople, as are functions that give them insight into their commissions as they build quotes. It’s a clear motivator for salespeople — and a valuable tool for marketers.
As the Forrester report demonstrates, the cloud is driving rapid growth in CPQ adoption. But that’s not all: CPQ is delivering increases in capabilities across multiple departments. Companies that are looking for an advantage in a competitive marketplace should take notice. The cloud may drive CPQ growth, but CPQ can in turn can drive revenue growth by improving employee effectiveness across departments.
