Well Transformers Prime, Transformers 1986 and IDW comics are having the first place that’s for sure

And then the second place is kind of shared by Fall of Cybertron, Exodus, Prime wars trilogy, Robots in disguise(2001) and Transformers One.

The third place goes to G1, Animated, Earthspark, Armada, War for Cybertron Netflix series, Aligned Robots in disguise, Bumblebee, Rise of the Beasts and Cyberverse because I only liked some little parts of them.

And then I also saw some of the Bay movies, Victory and Headmasters and didn’t like them at all.

granted season 1 just ended so this might be a bit unfair but earthspark makes you sympathize with the decepticons by telling you look! The decepticons are treated horribly and yeah they might be a little mean but often if someone listen to them and get thru theyre not that bad! They might even show up to repay a favor, even someone like starscream!

meanwhile cyberverse making you sympathize with the cons was like. the decepticons are bastards for 2/3 of our show. The only reason they stop is because if they didnt everyone was going to die, AND we had them team up with the autobots during a training montage set to a knock off version of "The Touch". After that neither factions wanted to go back to fighting so they didnt. When some asshole tried to start the war again they realized they actually liked not having to fight 24/7 (and might actually CARE for those stupid fucking autobots) and deceived him, and even the autobots, into thinking they havent changed their ways before fighting to protect the newfound peace at the risk of their lives. Theyre still mean bastards to the end. But get this: they were funny about it.

what the FUCK happens in cyberverse

Here's a list just off the top of my head, in no particular order. MASSIVE spoilers ahead.

-Wheeljack keeps making party drugs. This is not only accepted but wholly encouraged by the Autobots. He's made the bot equivalent to cocaine so strong it made grimlock physically unable to stop himself from running around the ship at mach 5. This was the basis for an entire episode. He's also made patches that give you a direct link to the Allspark that he passed out at a party specifically to get everyone as fucked up as physically possible. I cannot overemphasize that Optimus make no effort to stop this until things turn destructive on both occasions.

-Soundwave and Shockwave completely fucking hate each other and have a whole rivalry trying to be a better and more useful follower for Megatron than each other.

-Soundwave is a fucking memelord who will play clown music or dramatic riffs to dunk on people from the soundboard he has built into his hardware.

-theres a sort of liminal dimension referred to as Unspace that you can get stuck in and if you are there for too long you will straight up disintegrate. We see this happen to the entire crew aboard the arc from different timelines several times while the main timeline crew we follow tries to escape this fate, thus dooming dozens of other timelines.

-Cheetor is basically Allspark Jesus, and he's tired of all the fighting, so he tries to have Optimus and Megatron settle their differences once and for all. The chosen method for this was making them both play the Newlywed Game. They were both terrible at it, the MegOp Divorce agenda is alive and well.

-the Quintessons invade Cybertron and stick the entire population into a simulation a la The Matrix, which slowly drains their life force until they die. This kills countless unnamed Cybertronians, both Autobot and Decepticon, as well as Hound, who does not get to appear on screen.

-the Quintessons also catch Starscream, rip his face off, and modify him into an Eldritch tentacle beast with his brain attached to two other aliens, and then appoint that amalgamation as the judge that decides the fate of the universe in regards to whether they exterminate all life within it.

-Shockwave commits suicide for Megatron's approval. He launches his spark straight into the Allspark to taint it specifically as a last desperate fuck you to the autobots.

-Soundwave acquired laserbeak by just kind of grabbing a random bird out of the sky.

-Soundblaster is an ex-decepticon that left out of shame. That shame being Soundwave beating his ass in a beatboxing competition so fuckin hard he couldn't show his face around his faction anymore.

-The autobots keep starscream captive and try to get him to take a therapy session with the Arc's AI, and he starts out willing to actually give it a shot but said AI is kind of Stupid and screamer ends up tricking him into letting him escape through an air vent to go wreak havoc instead.

-Starscream also starts a suicide cult with the other Seekers, gains control of Vector Sigma and the Allspark, has the seekers forfeit their sparks to him, thus resulting in a cosmically powered Starscream. He uses that power to "remake" his followers into scraplets that he refers to as, with nothing but love in his tone, his "children."

-Shockwave and Wheeljack are shown to be ex lab partners. Shockwave has an army of drones that look exactly like his altmode that Wheeljack helped program. They are programmed to be able to break out into a coordinated dance number at any given time. Originally this was just to make Wheeljack laugh. Shockwave kept that function in throughout the entire war and initiates it the second there's a truce and Wheeljack asks to see it again.

-Shockwave kidnaps Wheeljack at one point for Science Under Duress purposes and Wheeljack is too invested in all the sweet fuckin tech Shockwave's been making while they were apart to really care that he's being held against his will, and then proceeds to escape without too much issue because he knows Shockwave well enough to know exactly how to disable everything.

-Bumblebee distracts the Decepticons by running in front of their surveillance cameras and shaking his ass in the most underwhelming way imaginable.

-Grimlock is only stupid when he's in his altmode because it takes a lot of power to sustain and he has to sacrifice some of his higher brain functions to keep it manageable. In robot mode he talks like he went to an Ivy League college and knows what champagne tastes like. He throws upscale parties every chance he gets.

-Grimlock also helped start an anticapitalist revolution with Bumblebee when he found an underground society of insect transformers that had a rigid caste system. This was within moments of finding out that the ultra wealthy were hoarding the limited energon reserves for themselves. Grimlock is a comrade and he does not fuck around.

-Skybyte is here and he sounds like Skeletor.

-Windblade and Slipstream are nemeses and somehow it's even more toxic yuri coded than Arcee and airachnid in tfp.

-speaking of Arcee, she's besties with Grimlock. They at one point have a physical fight over who gets to die to protect the other.

-hot rod and soundwave are forced to share leadership over the team of bots and cons that escaped the quintessons' simulation and it's packed with so much homoerotic tension its unreal.

-Maccadam is some kind of lovecraftian war machine that can unfold himself into a whole armory whenever he feels like it. We have no idea what his whole altmode looks like, all we see are the ominous shadows of the weapons on the walls. He uses this specifically as a threat to keep anyone from fighting in his bar bc he's insistent it remain neutral ground. He also can kinda just. See into the future. And casually drops prophecies that get written off as spoonerisms until they turn out to be relevant.

-Optimus Prime has horrific social anxiety that he can kind of power through when he's in a crisis, but the second things are chill and he has to give a speech at a party or something he simply does not know how to function.

-the entire planet of Velocitron gets taken over by cosmic rust and everyone inhabiting it that couldn't escape in time was killed horrifically.

-cosmos is a girl and she hangs out with a dude named Meteorfire who is, for all intents and purposes, just robot Steve Irwin.

-Astrotrain keeps closing doors in people's faces for the funny

-Megatron is killed by a version of himself from an alternate universe that went nuts and starting creating a master race of perfect Decepticons to inhabit Cybertron. Said perfect Decepticons were carbon copies of idw Tarn in all but personality.

-Acidstorm is canonically genderfluid and keeps switching between male and female seeker frames whenever they feel like it

-Kup, who had not been in the show at all until this point, decides to show up and narrate an entire episode like hes giving a political speech.

And, the infamous one we all know and love

-Megatron is a twitch streamer and he livestreams Starscream's fucking funeral. The chat has custom Decepticon emotes.

Unicron Trilogy Energon - ~14 feet 3 inches (No actual source, and Energon doesn't have any listed heights anywhere. For the uneducated, the Unicron Trilogy has given each of its 3 seasons separate names and 3 separate art styles. This is the design used in Energon (S2) though he only shows up in Energon. I was able to compare him to Optimus, and using Cybertron's listed heights, I got this number. I am in physical pain, it does not get better from here. Hilarious side note, his Japanese name is Laserwave, which contains the missing "wave" of Shockwave in this iteration's name.)

Earth Spark - ~15 feet (No actual source for ES, but using a barn door to get Bumblebee's height, then Optimus's, then Megatron's height, I was able to make a guess at Shockwave's. Shockwave comes up to about Megatron's chin; I lost the screenshot I used. It's so convoluted, I know, but it's all I have, also, tiny universe, everyone is so small)

TFA Longarm/V1 - 15 feet 2 inches (Animated has no actual numbers, but the lovely @phoenix-inanis has provided a frankly astounding resource with their own calculations for the heights of all the TFA characters. Gen 1 - ~18 feet (TFWiki, uuuuh I've got nothing to add)

Netflix Cybertron Trilogy - ~18 feet (I have no source for this, other than assuming that because this design is identical to Gen 1, they are the same height. That's it, really)

Knight/Capel-Verse - ~18 feet (No source, and he never stands next to anyone I can measure him against, but because the TFOne director has said that this movie is both canon to the LA movies and its own separate canon, I am assuming the height I figured out for TFOne applies to this universe as well. Until proven otherwise. Capel directed the ROTB movie if you're wondering why his name is there)

One - ~18 feet (No source, I got this number by comparing him to Optimus. Now, I am aware of the TFO heights listed on the wiki, but I reject those numbers on principal. A: Those numbers are sourced from the Walmart Promotional AR Experience that came out before the movie. B: There are three decimal points, and that number does not convert into a whole number in meters (which is originally what I thought was weird about it). C: The director has said that this movie is both canon to the LA movies and its own separate canon, so I have elected to use the few given heights we have from KCV and worked from there. My Optimus post has slightly more context if you want it)

Cyberverse - 20 feet (This comes from a screenshot of this video which has the Cyberverse height chart everyone uses, though the quality of the screenshot is iffy.)

Aligned Cont. WF/FOC/TFP - 26 feet 2 inches (This number comes from Fandom and I completely believe it, even if they don't list their source, because the entirety of this universe is freakishly tall. Go look at my other charts, all the ALC designs are monstrous compared to the others)

Bayverse - ~30 feet (Ok, so I don't have a source for this one. There used to be one, BV Shockwave used to be listed as 40 feet tall bc of an article done to promote the movie, but that is no longer listed for reasons not known to me, and making some comparisons to Optimus, I have found them to be kinda close in height. It's very hard to actually validate any of this. Shockwave never stands normally next to anything I can use as a ruler at any point in the movie. He's always at a dramatic angle or partially covered by something in the shot. It's so violently frustrating. I am confident he is around this height though, I just can't figure out how much taller than Optimus he is)

9/10 such a big fan of this starscream because they finally let him be dangerously unhinged for once. Also giving him some more complex background story plus showing us how he just can't get away from his abuser and also becoming the abuser in the process is chefs kiss. Only 9 points tho cause the comic is still ongoing and my rating may change.

Probably cyberverse Starscream. When Megatron was killing him he was acting very docile and cute, didn't try to fight back at all. I'd say it's a learned response: if he goes limp and submissive and acts harmless, Megatron is more likely to go easy on him. It worked until it didn't

Tbh, I feel like cyberverse Starscream doesn't get talked about enough. Do you remember what he was doing, right before he snapped and tried to kill Megatron? Huddling into himself, having flashbacks of all the times Megatron was cruel to him, called him useless, called him a failure, put his hands on him. He's sitting there hunched over, muttering, "It never ends, never, never, never..." and as soon as he sees a moment of weakness, he jumps at the chance to take him out

Cyberverse Scream has arguably the most in-your-face illustrated moment of someone who's vulnerable, mentally unstable and fracturing from an extensive period of abuse. And it's never talked about. I have a really soft spot for cyberverse Scream, especially since he was fucked over so hard by the narrative, and it seems like he was actually trying to work with Megatron. He was always close by and obedient, that's why Megatron zeroed in on him as a punching bag. Starscream learned to just be helpless and cute whenever Megatron was hurting him, cuz it made him back off quicker. But eventually, he just couldn't take it anymore

It’d be funny if Dead End was actually a size queen and inadvertently made Astrotrain jealous. Dead End can’t actually take his spike without literally breaking but Dead End’s still taking other bots that are big and thick and not him. How dare he when Astrotrain can literally cradle anyone in his hand like it’s nothing and he’s settling for this bitch— are you kidding me?!

I also really love Astrotrain’s facial dips or whatever they’re called. It’s just really hot for some reason. That and they can’t interface without Primus and a medic but that won’t stop him from eating Dead End out and fucking him open on his tongue.

I remember reading somewhere that biolights should be considered slutty, especially ones found on the thighs and interface panel area. And they flicker and glow brighter when they’re close to overload. Basically what I’m saying is everyone in Cyberverse has the ultimate slut look and we should appreciate that.

This ship kinda became my new obsession and Astrotrain should absolutely be able to move his wings like a seeker when he’s aggravated someone’s flirting with Dead End. That’s his partner to bitch and bicker at like they’re an old married couple, m’kay.

Hey, I see you mostly do art for idw transformers, but what do you think of other continuities? Like Prime, Animated, Cyberverse, and Earthspark? My personal favorite is Animated, if only because I'm a sucker for a good underdog story and the potential and implications of the worldbuilding is fascinating.

Loved Prime during its early days, TFA had a great style to experiment with and interesting worldbuilding, but the majority of the fandom for that show tends to put me off it (featuring what’s often the worst fantakes on MegOP).

FUCKING LOVED BEAST WARS it was actually my first serious introduction to the franchise! I’m also a fan of the old Beast Wars comics with Razorback/Razorbeast and friends.

Not really interested in Cyberverse, quite intrigued by Earthspark though I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, and I have a soft spot for some characterisations on Netflix’s WFC.

I know after the Earthspark Prowl toy was leak(?), can't remember if it was leaked or revealed, people have been theorizing what Prowl's role will be in the story and what he was up to during season 1. So here's my two cents on the topic.

Remember the theory a while back that stated that what if the healing ray didn't just bring back the bots who were killed by Mandroid's death ray, but also brought back Cybertronians who died before that? So what I'm saying here is, what if Prowl died during the war on Earth and the healing ray brought him back. Bonus points if he died before Megatron switched sides, like Prowl pulled a Cyberverse Prowl and took a bullet for Optimus or pulled Animated Prowl and died saving the Allspark.

Prowl waking up in the morgue, or wherever, seeing Megatron working along side the Autobots and five literal sparklings wondering around: okay, what the actual fuck did I miss?
