Chanterelle  (Golden Chanterelle, Girole)
Cantharellus cibarius (Cantharellales - Cantharellaceae) is a very popular edible fungus that occurs in mixed woodland, notably under birch trees and often beside paths.
Chanterelles are world famous not only because they are so good to eat but also because of their appearance in so many countries. In Europe they occur from Scandinavia to the Mediterranean. They also can be found in Britain and Ireland, as well as in many parts of North America.
It is said that Chanterelles have arich fruity aroma, like apricots.

Chanterelle - Cantharellus ‘cibarius’ sp.*
An edible mycorrhizal fungus, this one growing under Red Pine - Pinus resinosa. Chanterelles have many conifer and deciduous tree hosts. Mycologists are just beginning to understand that C. cibarius may actually be many different species.
*Addendum 9/19/18: The species has a name; Cantharellus enelensis! The North American chanterelles are gradually being described!

Any UKers interested in buying FRESH chanterelles directly from us?
Our chanterelle cup overfloweth, and the season's only just begun! Any UKers interested in buying FRESH chanterelles (Cantharellus cibarius) directly from us? If there's interest, I'll start pulling out small cardboard boxes to ship the mushrooms as we talk about weight'n'prices.
