Some Notes On In-ho's Room (on the Island)

I'm insane so I scanned through S1 to see everything I could about In-ho's bedroom in the Front Man suite. Here are my notes.

-In-ho’s bedroom walls are slatted, glossy black, possibly a polished and painted wood

-There’s a thick gray rug on his floor, which otherwise looks almost like smooth painted concrete, black

-There’s a chandelier in here too but not quite as fancy as the heavy crystal ones out in the hallway and office

-On his desk, In-ho has an Apple computer monitor, matte gray,  some binders and files to his right while he faces said monitor (against the door wall), and a small grayscale globe - to his left of the monitor, a small gray-shaded desk lamp which glows warmly, a selection of maybe five thick books held up by bookends, a black tissue box, an organizer tray which holds, curiously, poker chips, an organizer cup holding a couple pens and a pair of computer glasses (!!! guys In-ho wears computer glasses!! Glasses In-ho!!), and a small (hand-height) silver statue of a knight in armor (very interesting - maybe it's 457 brainrot but could that symbolize the "white knight" Gi-hun?)

-His bedding is velvet silver-gray and his headboard is slatted wood

-On his bedside table are two small black statues of a dog and cat playing (my HEART, he's so lonely), what's likely a rolling tray (with an ash tray and a little container of probably tobacco or something both sitting on it), a blue porcelain incense stick holder, and a black reed scent diffuser - this tells us that In-ho smokes in bed and likes incense and Nice Smells a lot which I find so endearing

-The door to the basement archives is across from his bedroom door, in the corner between the desk and bed

The Truth They Can’t Afford to See

For me, what a character believes is rarely the point. What fascinates me is what they can’t afford to know - the memory they wrap in soft cloth, the truth they circle like a wound. Not because they’re liars, but because seeing it clearly would undo something they need to survive.

Their blind spots aren’t flaws. They’re structural. Take one away, and the rest begins to shake.

Some call obedience devotion. Some call cruelty duty. Some name their silence humility - and pray no one asks what it cost.

It’s not villainy. It’s not clarity. It’s survival, rewritten as virtue.

And when they finally see it - truly see it - it’s not just the character who fractures. The story breaks with them.

I don’t write villains. I write people who survive by not knowing. Until truth ruins them - and the story has to find another shape.

Full notes on Loop/Felis (thus far) under the cut!

Disclaimer: I am afraid all my writings are liable to being out of character, or simply highly influenced by my own experiences/preferences. You've been warned. This Loop-variant-thing was inspired mostly by my mid-game impression of Loop, and the outfit I was wearing while drawing. Meaning: I didn’t necessarily put a lot of thought into their design and story at first, I just did what I wanted and am now working backwards.

Regarding their design, they did get a changed body after the Loops. More on that in a second. They usually wear nothing that restricts their arm and upper-body’s movements. They got too used to wearing nothing, possibly. I really enjoy the idea of Siffrin having curly or coarse hair, which translates to Loop’s hair spikes being something close to a spiked afro… just with a looser hair texture? Admittedly I don’t know what’s going on with the hair, it’s just staying super cartoonish for now. I’m also pretending that it is extremely heat damaged in the front. They have freckles, one of Mirabelle’s expensive earrings, and white eyelashes with one black streak through them (<- subject to change). Their eyebrows are thinner than Siffrin’s and they are taller (by how much, I haven’t decided). Lucky them! I have also yet to decide whether or not to make them part creatureby adding back the loop-tail, claws, and coloring on their paw-feet. It’s tempting. The loop frizzles do not remain, but are remnant in their craft-usage. I also realize that I have no real idea of how fem-presenting I tend to draw characters, so.. Know they are supposed to land on that scale just about where Loop usually does, just more ‘equal parts’ than ‘completely ambiguous’. Back to their story. Post-canon, the Universe gave them a new body in its attempt to right itself after the loops ended. Imagine a comedic end to the two-hats situation- they fight, Loop disappears, then reappears like haha… guess what? I didn’t get a clean ending after all! Although they never realized it, their new body is an amalgamation of leftover parts- Loop, sasaapfrin, and scraps from Siffrin’s past loved one/aquaintences. It is very likely that Loop now has the face of Siffrin’s childhood friend, or sibling, even. They retained a certain degree of regeneration, which nobody is keen on testing the full extent of. Also! The constellations on their skin are going to be studied by Odile at some point. Loop doesn’t see the point, and knows Siffrin is inclined to agree, but if it gets them attention that isn’t focused directly on themself. Well.

Anyways, speaking of attention, Felis still has a complicated relationship with it. Although the idea is that they are healthy enough to function as normally as a Siffrin could after [gestures vaguely], there are certain habits they refuse to give up. They are mainly focused on just... moving on. The party is there for them, but as ‘the truth’ never really got out so much as was ‘eventually realized’, Loop was left to their own devices for a good chunk of time. This is also because shortly after re-materializing, they decided to fuck off to who-knows-where (they never said) and only returned when they couldn’t bear how nostalgic traveling felt anymore. After rejoining the party, Siffrin stuck quietly to their side for a while. It was a relief that they were now traveling again, and that Loop had missed a majority of the emotionally-charged events following Vaugarde’s return to life. Since everyone was various degrees of occupied at this time, Loop was able to very slowly reintroduce themself during a long stay in… say, Ka Bue? It takes a bit. Mira actually ends up being this one's safe spot, mostly because she doesn't want to look backwards, towards the loops or otherwise. She’s headstrong, genuine, and unconditionally kind in the way Loop needs. The earring on their left ear is the pair to Mira's, a joke between them about the destruction of social norms.. or something. [I want to note something about holding their face a certain way… nahhh.]

Loop's other item-of-significance is a deck of cards from a traditional Ka-Buan game. I haven’t found a good real-life comparison to make, but imagine it’s somewhere between tarot and poker. You would think that loop wouldn't want anything to do with card games, but these were gifted to them by Odile about a year or so after Siffrin escapes the loops. It was a sleepy sort of day, and Felis was itching for something to do. So, Odile thought it the perfect time to teach the group a game her father had loved. Siffrin was having a time of it, being a bit uncomfortable due to Reasons. Loop, however, was having a blast, and Odile thought it fit to bring them on a secret mission later on that week. A secret mission that did not at all involve gambling, thank you very much. Loop was smug and secretly elated at having found something… unique, to them. About how normal this felt. Odile gifted them the card deck on the party’s last day in her home country.

Eventually, although I hate to think about it, the party may have parted ways, settled down, or otherwise made lives for themselves. Maybe they all stayed together forever, maybe not. Either way, Felis was a bit of a wanderer. They were highly averse to doing what anyone believed they should, and took great joy in seeing and experiencing as many things as possible. However, traveling alone did not feel as … comfortable, as it once did. Comfortable isn’t the right word, but regardless of what Loop liked to believe, they had grown roots. If Siffrin was the stray the party had tamed, Loop was the one who pretended they had not been. Regardless, there was always a door open for them. A place to stay, a person to return to. Even Euphrasie kept a spare room made up for them, should they ever feel the need to visit. Loop and her must have had a talk of sorts at some point, she's a comforting person, and they needed to reckon with her involvement in the loops. They just had to. And they did so before siffrin, taking the time to collect some materials from the house for them. It was one of those things Felis did with a quiet pride, even though no words were spoken aloud about it. 

Another note I must make on them is that they are adverse to touch in the way that cats are to water. They aren't used to it, and if they're not expecting it things Dont Go Smoothly. Plus, they are usually totally fine without it except that… if they do randomly get a hug or something similar, they refuse to let go. It's like not eating for longer than healthy, then getting a small taste of your favorite food and oh my goodness this was a thing I could’ve had? This thing that I might sort of need? Speaking of food, they do need to eat. That's... That’s an adjustment all on its own. [Felis had swiped some food from Dormont’s post-King party, deciding not to stop on the way to their next destination. Good thing, too, as they immediately and somewhat violently spit out the first few items they had attempted to eat.] That’s all I have noted down for now, but trust the details shall be filled in as soon as I feel like finishing this. Heheheh...

Kuningatarpitko - containing jam of the "queen" flavor aka blueberry and raspberry, and it has some yummy custard and sugar chunks. The only berry enough flavor which automatically goes to Lassi imo. Also I think the sugar chunks feel very Him

LAMERA

Dallaspitko - a bun with vanilla quark filling, beautiful golden and so this one's mostly for the appearance to me. I almost went with orange quark flavor bc i feel that fits Lamera but Dallasbun is so sweet and buttery and I think that fits even better

DELILAH

Kanelipulla - simple basic cinnamon buns, i couldn't find a better fit tbh, I feel like there's nothing "mature" and strong enough that would fit Delilah. I think cinnamon is fine! No sheet/braid bun, she's a grab bag

NAN

Mansikka-vaniljapitko - strawberry and vanilla! Contains strawberry jam, sugar chunks and what I assume would be vanilla custard. So whimsy! So cute! Look at the adorable packaging! It's summery! Fits Nan. Either a retired flavor or not available in my region. Ironically suits an elderly lady in that sense lol

I love how casual Amethio and Liko's conversation is. They talk as if they were old friends. Amethio tells Liko not to give up, and Liko says IN AMETHIO'S FACE that the Explorers are bad people (shameless 🤣🤣)

At no point does the conversation become aggressive, the two are extremely polite and respect each other's barriers. Is really cool to see

Some notes on Pigment! Mainly how colors work with them. (Plus some older sketches!)

Pigment is one half of my duo of art deities! They represent color, emotion, chaos, and change.

I feel I could have pushed this more but this is a basic idea of what they could look like! Their main fur colors don't need to be light either! And the eye and swirl symbol can be changed to something else, too!

Something about the way Gibeon said he doesn't want to look at Amethio anymore and the way Crave avoids Amethio's gaze (refusal and avoidance) adding salt to Amethio's wound and highlighting his need for validation and to be seen.. which, in turn, also reframes Amethio's interactions with Friede in the first chapter in quite an interesting way since Amethio asking Friede to not look away from him is one of the first things he actually screamed at him.

Looking back at their battle in HZ005, Amethio brought up a variation of "where are you looking/don't look away from me" three times (which is quite a lot).

This was the first time. (Friede looking away briefly because Roy managed to get some help for the ship and his crew, and Amethio immediately reacting to it by asking where he is looking.)

This was the second time. (Friede looking away from the battle once again because he was concerned about Roy being in trouble.. Amethio getting irritated and pulling the "don't look away from me" line.)

And this was the third time at the end of the episode. (Every time Friede looked away from the battle, it was because he was concerned about Liko, Roy, or his crew.. people he has the duty to protect. They were in trouble because of your subordinates, Amethio-)

However, even though Friede was distracted during the battle because of outside reasons, he was actually paying attention and these scenes connect to a later episode (specifically HZ022).

This was during the episode in which Galar Fire first appeared. Liko and Roy got separated from Friede, Amethio came across Friede in the mines and they engaged in a battle. At some point during their battle, they heard a cry (which was Galar Fire's cry) and they were both distracted by it.

Amethio quickly focused back on the battle, and Friede did so as well by specifically making a callback to the line Amethio told him 17 episodes ago at the time. (And both episode 5 and episode 22 were written by the same writer btw, so the reference to this line was intentional.) Friede focusing back on the battle and saying "I won't look away."

Quick tangent on their battle, but Friede's behavior stood out to me in this episode at the time because.. usually his confrontations with Amethio were more about creating a distraction or buying time and he wasn't exactly engaging in a battle with the intention to "finish" it. Their battle at the mine was the first time I felt like Friede was partaking in the battle with the intention to see it through the end. Liko and Roy were both separated from him in the episode too. Friede heard a strange cry from a Pokemon which could spell trouble for them. Friede really could have ran away from the battle to look for them, but he didn't. Even though he knew something was happening in the mine, at that moment, he decided to prioritize his battle with Amethio and said he wasn't going to look away from him. Which felt meaningful at the time, because he remembered what Amethio said to him (despite everything that was going on, and Rayquaza's first appearance later on which surprised everyone) and used his own line back at him. It felt like Friede was acknowledging their previous encounter at Roy's island, and wanted to continue where they had left off. Being able to continue that battle meant a lot for both of them.

And now, this specific exchange also feels even more significant with the additional knowledge about Amethio's family situation and the fact that Gibeon (his grandfather) currently refuses to look at him and that Crave (his father) avoids looking at him. (I'd be curious to know how Amethio felt when Friede used his line back at him in HZ022. I wonder if he heard him say that he wouldn't look away.)

In general, I think Amethio's "don't look away from me" feels more "heavy" now. It's pretty interesting to think that he looked at Friede and decided to project his issues on him. Like, his cries of frustration got to be expressed through Friede and he had the opportunity to put into words things that he might not usually say. (I think Amethio seeks validation from adults he might perceive as an authority figure, or who aren't below him in the hierarchy. Which is why this specific attitude wouldn't have worked with characters like Hamber or Zir, because they serve a different role and function in his story. It had to be Friede, and he was the only one who could pull out these sides out of him.)

Amethio was transferring that need for validation and to be seen onto Friede. Friede gave him that too, since he actually properly looked at him during their battles. Which, to me, also gains additional layers to it now, since we know Crave was Friede's former superior and someone who helped him become the person he is currently.. Crave seemingly doesn't approve of Amethio being involved in the Explorers (he doesn't want him to get involved with the Rakurium), and Friede stood as a "wall" in front of Amethio in the first chapter and stopped him from going too far and doing irreparable things while keeping an eye on him.. Unknowingly, Friede was looking at Amethio while Crave couldn't. Just like how Lucca entrusted Liko to him.

you kindly answered my ask about charles's trainer for my fic and as (i am assuming?) you are italian i have another question! what are both carlos and charles skill levels at italian like? as in, do they have noticeable foreign accents while speaking? would u be able to pinpoint them as spanish/french native speakers specifically while hearing their italian? do they make any idiosyncratic mistakes the way charles especially does with english? i have seen people say that charles is better at italian than carlos, is that true? i just in general am very curious about their language skills

They are obviously second-language speakers, both because of the accent and because of grammar/syntax, but make themselves understood very well. I think Charles's Italian is more effortless than Carlos but he still has at least one "how do you say that?" moment in most interviews I've seen him give. This is all to say that he's fully fluent but I get the vibe that he's more comfortable with speaking Italian in casual settings + terminology that is strictly about racing, but if he's dealing with, idk, conjunctive or hypothetical periods, then he starts getting more hesitant. I feel like if he was talking with his friends he would care less about using the correct verb tense than when he's on TV. One thing about Italian is that is a gendered language (like french) and sometimes he gets the gendered endings wrongs (Nico Rosberg, who mostly sounds like he's from Milan, also does this). All of this applies to Carlos but Carlos also likes to stick to simpler sentence constructions and sometimes he just throws in a Spanish equivalent of the Italian word he's trying to think of :D

I'm trying to think of a way to translate this in fic because English doesn't have gendered endings or the same variety in tenses and persons, and I think you use the same sentence construction you'd use for English if it's a bit stilted 🤔 but if you want help with translation hmu!!

First ever tumblr post, ooh I'm currently in the middle of analyzing/taking notes on all of the 'alien' related things in Lilo and Stitch, and I figured I could start posting my rough drafts here before everything goes into powerpoint form. Since I organized the notes by character, we're starting off with my favorite silly guy: Gantu :3 Movie 1 (Lilo and Stitch): -Just wants to prove himself worth to the Grand Councilwoman, this poor man -'Does this, uh, look infected to you?' I'll be touching back on this with more evidence later, but I'm convinced that he's very focused on being clean/sanitary -His name is pronounced in 2 different ways; G-aun-tu and G-an-tu (though the correct pronunciation is G-an-tu) -He was retired from his job, not fired Movie 2 (Stitch! The Movie): -unlike when he was working for the Grand Councilwoman, there is a CLEAR distaste for Hämsterviel, and I feel like he's only there because he needs somebody to be loyal to/get approval from -From here on out, he is CONSTANTLY using 'trog' as an insult (mentioned in the 1st movie as a negative term) -When going to collect Jumba, he gets the door slammed in his face, THEN he rings the doorbell, how polite! -Gets called fat by Stitch, and UNDERSTANDS IT. He CAN speak the same language! -When he activates hyperdrive, he goes 'My turn this time!' indicating that he remembers what Stitch did in the 1st movie -The amount of NASTY eye brow raises and glares he gives Hämsterviel is insane, which further proves my point that he's just there for a job -Doesn't like bologna because it's too fatty, THIS MAN IS BODY CONCIOUS -He keeps apologizing for things. When he interrupts Jumba's joke, gets told he's messing with the punchline, he apologizes. Then, when Hämsterviel yells at him to stop apologizing for things, HE SAYS SORRY AGAIN -Egg salad enjoyer (real) TV Series (Lilo and Stitch: The Series): -Always, ALWAYS bothered with Hämsterviel calls, there's never a time where he's actually willing to go out to catch experiments -'I hate sticky!' and 'That can't be sanitary..' circles back to my point; HE LIKES BEING CLEAN -refers to his mother as 'mumu' -accidentally calls himself Captain, then corrects himself by adding 'formerly' right after -He can hula! He actively ignores Hämsterviel when he calls so he can keep having fun with his silly hobby -'I'm taking your tiny raviolis!' you think he's sick of sandwiches guys -Reuben called him daddykins and babe. Do with that what you will -HE LOOKS LIKE A WET CAT WHEN HE GETS YELLED AT -'San Francisco? Oh, double blitznak..' the writers really don't like San Francisco, and neither does Gantu -Going back to the point that he doesn't really want to work for Hämsterviel, he tries to talk himself out of going out in the rain to hunt an experiment; 'He doesn't need one little experiment,' 'how would he even know?' etc, etc.. -'As you say, aloha' is said while leaving, which means that he knows that 'aloha' can be used for a greeting and parting word That's all I've got so far, but I figured posting something would be fun :3

So the Van Helsing brainrot has hit finally and...

I've been making some notes on him for a fic in the near future (I've essentially put off the Roadtrip to Hell and Joel x Reader fics on layaway for now)

Part I: Why Dr Van Helsing is a Fucking Gentleman

Very polite

Always gives physical support to patients (an arm to lean on, a supportive hand, etc)

Very gentle & reassuring

Fucking fashion plate (dresses well)

Professional, doesn't dumb things down to make ppl feel stupid

Never butts into interactions, waits for a good opening

Genuinely interested & wants to help ppl, very sweet & caring by nature

Always wants the best for ppl :)

ALWAYS does what's necessary, even if he has to do physically dangerous/demanding shit (jumps from high places, hanging off of shit, burning himself)

Looks out for ppl, not just patients

Doesn't necessarily know he's GORGEOUS, very humble/selfless, no vanity

Altruistic by nature :)

Part II: Why Dr Van Helsing is a Really Cool Bro

Always ready to cooperate, collaborate, & learn

Takes advice from more knowledgeable ppl (on topics he doesn't know super well)

Knows when he needs to stop questioning/interacting with a patient

Well-read, good at explaining complicated stuff in a simple manner without making you feel like a complete idiot

Well-versed in philosophy, science, medicine, chemistry & The Occult :)

Brave, not afraid to put self at risk for the greater good

Patient, relaxed, good at keeping ppl calm

Dedicated to his occupation & loves helping others/sharing knowledge

Not afraid to throw his authority around

Doesn't rly care if he looks like an idiot, as long as he's doing the right thing

Generally altruistic, ambiverted, considerate, genuine, & chill :)

Part III: Why Dr Van Helsing is a Good & Complex Character

Doesn't wanna die, but will put self at risk for greater good

Caring for patients, altruistic---but does not actively seek a romantic relationship

Gentleman, but can be fierce (scary!)

Grounded in science & medicine, but interested in The Occult (counterintuitive)

Incredibly smart, learns stuff everyday from others :)

Works well both in solitude or in collaborative groups

Both chill & good at keeping others calm, but can be very animated & affect others too

Threshold of altruism to being overbearing, or to complete apathy

Will wait for interactions to end, will initiate---but will butt in if absolutely necessary

Different sorts of gentleness when it comes to gender, but can be overruled if needed (typically more gentle with women, but can also be gentle with men)

Will only kill/injure out of self-defense, or kill out of pity/mercy (put them outta their misery)

Part IV: What Makes Dr Van Helsing so Attractive??? <3

Patient, caring, chill

Smart, willing to learn & cooperate

Gentleman, very dapper :)

Sciency -> diagnose/cure everything!!!

Patient -> doesn't initiate

Sacrificial -> puts self into everything (tiring)

Simple explanation -> you're an idiot & I'm smarter than you

Polite -> softens/hides truth

Helpful -> meticulous/control freak

Curious -> nosey

Honest -> blunt

Soft boi -> easily damaged :'(
