RDR HC ' s : Arthur Morgan ( I ' m sorry )
Content warnings : Death / abuse mentions , nightmares , negative body image , grief , tuburculosis , isolation , etc . . . Themes : Angst , fluff ( ? ). . Character mentions : Arthur Morgan , John Marston , Abigail Roberts , Jack Marston , Hosea Matthews , Dutch Van der Linde , Charles Smith , Sadie Adler . . Extra mentions : Eliza , Isaac , Colm O ' Driscoll , Leviticus Cornwall , Angelo Bronte , Karen Jones , Molly O ' Shea , Sean MacGuire , Susan Grimshaw , Lenny Summers , Kieran Duffy . . etc
Arthur always tries to keep his rifleman gloves on , especially if leaving camp to run an errand , go on a job , or even just roaming . Whenever dirt or muck finds itself under his nails , he has flashbacks to Eliza ' s small cabin atop the valley . It brings back memories of himself , clawing at the soil atop Isaac ' s shallow grave in desperation to hold his boy one more time . -
He finds a certain comfort in wearing his worn out hat , the low waxed felt brim allowing him to shield his face from any prying eyes he doesn ' t need on him . -
( Post Ch. 3 ) He despises going to or being around any form of theatre or opera house as the dulcet melodies of the classical songs only remind him of the phonograph back at camp that now sits silent , gathering dust . -
( Post Saint Denis bank job ) Any form of sleep that isn ' t a quick nap against a tree only results in being plagued with horrifying images of Hosea ' s frail body crumpling to the cold concrete . Waking up in a cold sweat , he instinctively gets out of bed to go and fetch Dutch , only to sit back down in a dull silence as he remembers the man who would once comfort him after a nightmare when he was young was no longer the same man he followed around now . -
His desperation to save John and his family originates from when he lost his mother , father , and soon after , his Eliza and his boy . His fear of losing his brother only worsens after every death he witnesses around him - Jenny , Davey , Mac , Sean , Kieran , Lenny , Hosea , Eagle Flies , Molly , Susan : hell , even Colm , Bronte and Cornwall roots his panic deeper . -
Ever since he was a boy , all Arthur longed for was the sweet relief of death , being able to shut his eyes in peace and let his worries fade away . That was , until his TB diagnosis , which shifted his mind somewhere else . He was not ready to leave until those he cared about got out safe - Mary - Beth , Tilly , Sadie , Abigail , Jack , John , Karen - Hell , even waiting until he knew Jamie and Mary were safe before letting himself succumb to his illness . -
Arthur spent many nights by the fire alone , especially when he was younger , allowing grief to eat at him silently . He would think back on what could ' ve been a family - a way out of this life . He would curse himself for refusing to allow Eliza to handle a gun or teach his boy a thing or two about using a bow . He strongly believes his false hope for their safety and his blind loyalty tying him to the gang was what led them to die - and it consumes him on the rare nights he can let his guard down . -
John never could grasp why Arthur was so hard on him - why he constantly pushed the younger boy to be better , to be stronger , to be a man . Until they stood together atop the mountain only moments before his death . John then realized that when the older man would look at him , he didn ' t see a pitiful excuse for a twenty something year old man the way everyone else did , but that same twelve year old he claimed a brother fourteen years ago . And he knew. He knew Arthur was afraid . Afraid that John would end up like him . -
Loyalty means a lot to him because , when his mother passed away the only person he had was his father . Lyle was a drunken , abusive bastard . But on the nights they played happy family , when he was inebriated enough , a small pat on the shoulder or a grumbled ' good job ' got him through . When his father was hung , he developed a fear of abandonment. Which was why he was so strung up on Mary , refused to leave the gang despite Dutch ' s eventual mental decline and didn ' t allow himself to pass before he knew John , Sadie and Charles would be alright .

'92: Dec., Pioneer Club sold to partners Steven Burnstine (35%), Marc Curtis (35), Ian Schneider (20), Louis Nichmin (10). New owners plan to exploit Vegas Vic merchandise.
'94: Dec., "Vegas Vic" sign is temporarily removed from the building. The south side of the hat is shortened by 2', and the placement of the sign is moved further out from the building, to allow for the construction of the Fremont Street Experience canopy around the sign. A publicity event wedding ceremony is held for "Vegas Vic" and "Vegas Vickie" signs on Dec. 15.
'95: Jun. 29, Pioneer Club is closed (RJ 6/30/95). Mirage Resorts Inc. temporarily takes custody of the property, exercising a 6-month option to buy 25 Fremont, with plans to expand Golden Nugget into four parcels on Fremont St (17, 21-23, and 25 Fremont). The option expires at the end of the year.
Gift Shop era
'95: Construction of Fremont Street Experience includes closing 1st Street to traffic at Fremont. Later in 2006, much of the first block of South 1st is built over by Golden Nugget expansion.
'98: Jan., 25 Fremont is sold to Schiff Enterprises, along with 17 Fremont. Silver Lining Construction renovates the building. “City inspectors have watched the world closely to make sure the building is brought up to code while preserving its historical value for future generations.” (RJ 9/5/98) Reopens as gift shop at a later date.
'99: Laughlin's Pioneer Hotels Inc. (Elardi) is granted a U.S. trademark #2397704 for the full-body "River Rick" image, claiming its first use in '82. In 2005, Archon Corp. buys the holdings of Pioneer Hotel Inc, and subsequently claims trademark ownership of "Vegas Vic."
2000: New corner marquee, "Souvenirs Gifts T-Shirts." Approximate date of Vegas Vic fourth color: tan hat, black & white face, red bandana, red & yellow checker shirt, blue jeans, tan boots.
2014: Paneling on the east wall of the Beckley building, and the "Souvenirs Gifts T-Shirts" marquee are removed, as the Beckley building is extended to the area of former South 1st St.

Share your GOS2 bibliography with me
How crazy is it that season 2 has basically forced me to go back to university. I’ve done more reading and critical analysis and historical research than I have in years. I bite my thumb at you, Neil (affectionate).
And as I’m sure I’m not alone in this, I’d love to see your bibliography of all of the references or reading/watch lists. I’m sure to pick up a few good ones! I’ll go first.

This might be very specific, but I’m looking for a historical adventure that is queer (especially m/m or m/m/f but any pairing works) or even just homoerotic vibes. Hopefully set in the jungle, or partially on a boat. Maybe they’re searching for something or someone, possibly with magical realism or interacting with gods/goddesses. Think black sails, pirates of the Caribbean, the road to el dorado, the road to Bali, the mummy, Indiana Jones etc. Thank you!! :)
Try KJ Charles’ series The Adventures of Will Darling, Peregrine Seas by R.C. Ballad and Peter Darling for Austin Chant for trans m/m pirate adventures, Running Close to the Wind by Alexandra Rowland, Bootlegger’s Bounty by Adriana Herrera, and One Night in Heartswood by Emma Denny, and in YA, A Traitorous Heart by Erin Cotter, The Wicked Bargain by Gabe Cole Novoa, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee, and though it’s not historical, Lion’s Legacy by LC Rosen.

“Duck Dodgers” pitch art from a rough drawing by Tony Cervone, from early 1998. This poster is from the first attempt at selling the show, and features a bunch of Looney Tunes villains in their sci-fi form. Five years later in 2003, some of these foes would finally get their chance to go toe to toe with Dodgers.

Here’s Why Everyone Is Talking About A Pirate Drama That Ended In 2017
Black Sails has been described as Game of Thrones with pirates
If Black Sails kicked off in 2020 instead of 2014, it certainly would have thrown fuel on the raging fire that was TikTok’s sea shanty obsession. The reality is that this TV series aired on Starz from 2014 for four seasons, coming to a close in 2017. So why is everyone talking about it now, a decade after it began?
Black Sails is coming to Netflix very soon, triggering its fans to emerge from the woodwork and promote the show online. ‘I am SO excited for people who’ll be watching this show for the first time,’ one user wrote, with many others recommending the series to fans of Game of Thrones. With House of the Dragon still a few months away, here’s why you should tune into Black Sails this month.

New To Netflix: Black Sails
What Is Black Sails About?
Black Sails transports us back to 1715 – aka the Golden Age of Piracy. Set in New Providence, an island in the Bahamas, we meet the feared Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) who brings a new younger crew member into the fold (‘Long’ John Silver, played by Luke Arnold) as his crew continues to fight for survival and negotiate their space on the island.
Is Black Sails Based On A Book?
Black Sails was written as a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel, Treasure Island (1883).

Is It Based On A True Story?
While Black Sails isn’t based on a true story, it does trace real events. The first season focuses on the hunt for the Spanish treasure galleon Urca de Lima, a real ship that sank in 1715 near Fort Pierce in Florida (where it still lies). Season two traces the fallout of Urca de Lima’s treasure being stranded in Florida, strictly guarded by Spanish soldiers while pirates prowl the shores. The subsequent third and fourth seasons then look at the war for the control of New Providence between the pirates and the British Empire – a la Pirates of the Caribbean.
Likewise, some of the characters are based on real people. Real pirates fictionalised in the show include:
Blackbeard (Ray Stevenson)
Anne Bonny (Clara Paget)
Benjamin Hornigold (Hakeem Kae-Kazim)
Jack Rackham (Toby Schmitz)
Charles Vane (Zach McGowan)
Ned Low (Tadhg Murphy)
Israel Hands (David Wilmot)
Meanwhile, Captain Woodes Rogers (Luke Roberts) – who represents the British Empire in seasons three and four – is based on a real English sea captain and slave trader, and subsequently the first Royal Governor of the Bahamas.

Was Captain Flint A Real Pirate?
Captain Flint is a fictional character who was first created by Robert Louis Stevenson in Treasure Island. He has since appeared in multiple works of fiction, including A. D. Howden Smith’s Porto Bello Gold (1924), John Drake’s Flint and Silver (2008), Pieces of Eight (2009) and Skull and Bones (2010), and J. M. Barrie’s Peter and Wendy (1904).
Where Was Black Sails Filmed?
Black Sails was filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, mainly inside at Cape Town Film Studio. Because the real city is so different today than it was in the 1700s, Nassau – the capital of the Bahamas, located on New Providence island – was built from scratch in a studio over a period of four months, as were two large water tanks to house the series’ two ships. Some scenes were filmed outside in and around Cape Town when new terrain was required, but most of the series was filmed on set.

The Cast
The cast of Black Sails is incredibly large, but key characters to know include:
Toby Stephens as James McGraw/Captain Flint
Hannah New as Eleanor Guthrie
Luke Arnold as ‘Long’ John Silver
Jessica Parker Kennedy as Max
Tom Hopper as William ‘Billy Bones’ Manderly
Zach McGowan as Charles Vane
Toby Schmitz as Jack Rackham
Clara Paget as Anne Bonny
Mark Ryan as Hal Gates
Hakeem Kae-Kazim as Mr. Scott
Sean Cameron Michael as Richard Guthrie
Louise Barnes as Miranda Hamilton/Barlow
Rupert Penry-Jones as Thomas Hamilton
Luke Roberts as Woodes Rogers
Ray Stevenson as Edward Teach
David Wilmot as Israel Hands
Harriet Walter as Marion Guthrie

As I say in the cartoon's notation, my best work is apparently inspired by people named Charles M.
Thanks for reading.
[Image description: Preview panel for the comic strip at the link below. On the side of a road on a desert promontory, the Master, UNIT incarnation, of Doctor Who steps outside his TARDIS brandishing his tissue compression eliminator and using it on a nearby cactus. Unfortunately there are not image descriptions at the main Hero Of Three Faces site. End description.]
The Hero of Three Faces is fanfiction crossovers, but it’s comic strips with stick figures, but they’re triangles. Preview panel only. Click here for full cartoon. Or see the on-site navigation tutorial. Or see this blog’s FAQ, or my archive tumblog’s FAQ. Cartoons may contain unmarked spoilers. Cartoons linked from Tumblr 10:00 (Central US time) daily are the previous day’s new update and the posts are pinned to the top of this blog. Cartoons linked from Tumblr 22:00 daily are from the archive and the posts are pinned only during annual summer hiatus of new updates.
Thanks for reading.

Dave Cummings

Physique: Average Build Height: 5′ 9″ (1.75 m)
Dave Cummings (born David Charles Conners, March 13, 1940 – October 5, 2019; aged 79) was a pornographic actor who billed himself as the "oldest living male pornstar".

An AVN and XRCO Hall of Famer, Cummings was a hairy daddy stud. I use to j/o to him all the time thinking about his body and cock watching his videos when I was younger. Definitely… My all time favorite porn star.

Born in Saratoga Springs, NY, Cummings' background is unusual for a porn actor: he received both a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and a master's degree in public administration; in addition, he spent over 25 years as an officer in the United States Army, retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was married for 22 years and had two children and four grandchildren.

Cummings began acting in adult movies in 1994, at the age of 54 with The Devil in Miss Jones 5: The Inferno and was regarded as a major adult porn star appearing in hundreds of adult films and a reputation for sexual stamina. In all, Cummings had appeared in nearly 240 productions. He claimed he only used viagra when doing back-to-back sex scenes or working with very demanding directors. Cummings retired from adult acting altogether in 2012.

Cummings died on October 5, 2019, at age 79; he had been battling Alzheimer's disease in his latter years. I saw many of his movies. At the time there were few daddy videos at the porn store and he was a star. He also seemed like such a nice guy. RIP Dave, a lot of people will miss you, including me.
