Some question me - asking why do I post so much about our culture, Chicanismo, and our history. There are many subjects of interest, and while I make a real effort to post about different subjects, I suppose, like most writers, I tend to write about what I'm most passionate. And my passion is my Raza.
By emphasizing the truth that we are Indigenous to this land, I hope to remind us to work towards restoring this nation, on this land, because this land is ours. It is our homeland, the birthplace of our people, where the bones of the abuelos of our abuelos, and their abuelos, are buried. It is presently occupied by a settler colonizer, who delights in keeping our people in the throes of oppression, but, we must continue to wage the struggle against capitalism, imperialism, and the evilness of Colonialism. We aren't just passing through, we have an investment in this land. We are its caretakers. This land is ours and, more importantly, we belong to the land. Mexicans and Chicanos, with Native bloodlines, are Indigenous to this land. Knowing that we belong here gives us a legitimacy, a belonging, the truth of our origin. We are not strangers, foreigners, illegals, or immigrants. We do not need to be "accepted" into US culture, into this foreign society, on our own land! We are the First Peoples! I strive to instill cultural pride, which we need in order to empower the movement. A movement of resistance that began the day the invader, Hernan Cortes raised his sword, and it will continue until all our people are living in freedom, peace, and harmony. Granted, I probably will not see this in my lifetime, but, I do see it in my vision for my people and our descendants. That vision empowers my every effort.
I'm no expert. There are so many who are more knowledgeable than me, but, I consider it a huge blessing to be able to share what I have learned in my walk, and what I still continue to learn, with my beloved hermanas y hermanos, all my relations.

Word dump about my thoughts on my experiences with assimilation and rejections in anglowhite and latino groups // tldr: things suck but anglowhite and latino white are 2 different things but also the inventions of labels in race/ethnicity in general is a anglowhite racist invention used to separate us second class citizens because we are not anglowhite
//ignore ig unless ur curious lol. Please let me know if anything mentioned sounds ill intended, or if I said anything I need to unlearn, I'm always eager to be better. :) 👍
This whole identity crisis and coping with assimilation has (always) made me realize that no, I'm not anglo White. I'm a white Latino, which is VASTLY different and like...
I hate when people just boil those 2 down and together like no, Bobby Andrews from Nebraska has NEVER gone to a quiñce or celebrates nochebuena, and I have never felt proud to be an American or mourn 911 or shoot up a school, I'm not Anglo!!!!
These 2 things are different!!!!! Goddamn!!!!
Like I'm not arguing that I'm not white, I know I am and I benefit from white supremacy because of my skin. this I know!
. I know even in Latinoamerica brown and black latinos are discriminated against in their own home fuckin country and its awful and it sucks and my whinging white latino ass woes have probably been said millions of times by other assimilated latinos.
damn dude!! These two ~"flavors"~ of white are not the same!!! I will get clocked cause of my last name!! My non-white features of my face!! My use of spanglish. My culture. We are all in this shitty boat ESPECIALLY in america. I miss the things that were taken from me. It hurts so bad that I have lost my culture and that I've been Americanized. It hurts so much.
Americanized Latinos are NOT the American yankee white. We will never be accepted in white groups, but not really accepted by our peers if we haven't experienced some parts of our culture.
But what ive learned from my experiences? No matter what, no matter how much we've lost, we're latino. And we our ourselves. And that it's never too late to reconnect to who we are. Anyways uhh #chicanopower #acab #donotgiveintoassimilation #latinosforcoloredrights #whitelatinoswhoareracistagainstothernonwhitelatinospleaseshutthefuckupchallenge(directedtowardsmymother) #wearenotanglowhite(directedtowardsmyparents)

“Como tú, I question history’s blur in my eyes each time I face a mirror. Like a mirror, I gaze into my palm a wrinkled map I still can’t read, my lifeline an unnamed road I can’t find, can’t trace back to the fork in my parents’ trek that cradled me here. Como tú, I woke up to this dream of a country I didn’t choose, that didn’t choose me—trapped in the nightmare of its hateful glares. Como tú, I’m also from the lakes and farms, waterfalls and prairies of another country I can’t fully claim either. Como tú, I am either a mirage living among these faces and streets that raised me here, or I’m nothing, a memory forgotten by all I was taken from and can’t return to again. Like memory, at times I wish I could erase the music of my name in Spanish, at times I cherish it, and despise my other syllables clashing in English. Como tú, I want to speak of myself in two languages at once. Despite my tongues, no word defines me. Like words, I read my footprints like my past, erased by waves of circumstance, my future uncertain as wind. Like the wind, como tú, I carry songs, howls, whispers, thunder’s growl. Like thunder, I’m a foreign-borne cloud that’s drifted here, I’m lightning, and the balm of rain. Como tú, our blood rains for the dirty thirst of this land. Like thirst, like hunger, we ache with the need to save ourselves, and our country from itself.” -Richard Blanco Remember that when they look at us they see the reflection of our people. ✊🏽Strong and bad ass🔥 Earrings: @tochtliwear _____________________________________ . . . . . . . . . #yissellopez #lamalandrina #wixarika #huichol #mexicana #mexica #aztec #raices #otomi #orgullomexicano #nativeamerican #native #brownpride #nativepride #neweraranchera #indigena #chicanoart #chicano #chicanopower #nativeart #musica #rancheras #neweramariachi #regionalmexicano #mariachi #portland #oregon #reclaimyourpower (at Portland, Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/CWl0KiavYlr/?utm_medium=tumblr

Graduating, Now That's Gangster
Did it for La Raza, Did it for my Family, Did it for those who doubted me, Did it for my Omaha community, Did it to show that I could too, like any other person, First of my family to graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Fine Arts! Happiest Moment of my Life With the amount of years I've spent in school I should of been a Doctorate by now. But i wasn't on free money. I actually worked for mine, but that's okay not everyone has it easy. Stay dedicated and accomplish those dreams. Now that I'm done with school, I can focus on reconstruting my life how it was meant to be and make art 24/7!!!

It’s been quite a journey. I never thought I’d travel this far in my academic career—and certainly not be finishing with a Masters of Science in an engineering program from a top ranked public institution like UW. I’m incredibly proud of the work I’ve done and the obstacles I’ve overcome. I also recognize how fortunate and privileged I am as US-born Hispanic American to have had this opportunity and the support of my network of loved ones and colleagues. I am especially proud to wear the RAZA stole that celebrates the efforts, sacrifice, and accomplishments of graduating Latinx/Chicanx students @uofwa Congratulations to my fellow Latinx/Chicanx students and the rest of the 2021 graduates! #chicanopower #raza #2021grad #venicebeace #socal (at Venice Beach) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQJt10LjwoG/?utm_medium=tumblr
