Circo social ganha destaque na 27ª edição do Palco Giratório do Sesc

Anunciada nesta quinta-feira (27), Dia Mundial do Circo, a programação vai celebrar o trabalho da Escola Pernambucana de Circo e também a atriz, pesquisadora e dramaturga pernambucana Fátima Pontes, produtora do “Circo Science – Do mangue ao picadeiro”. 

O circuito começa em abril e vai passar por 96 cidades de 23 estados brasileiros, com apresentações de 16 grupos, que têm origem em 15 unidades da federação. Além de circo, estão incluídos teatro, dança e música. Ao todo serão 336 apresentações até dezembro deste ano, com entrada grátis. A junção do ritmo de Chico Science com a arte circense vai dar início à programação itinerante e será apresentada pela Trupe Circus (PE), da Escola Pernambucana de Circo. Os números circenses e as coreografias do espetáculo contam com trilha musical baseada em grandes sucessos do cantor e compositor pernambucano, que foi um dos criadores do influente Movimento Manguebeat. A dramaturga Fátima Pontes contou em entrevista à Agência Brasil que a participação no projeto vai trazer visibilidade nacional ao trabalho, que já é conhecido em Pernambuco e em outros estados do nordeste. “Para a Escola, é a representação do reconhecimento do trabalho que a gente faz no campo da arte circense, desde 2002, através da nossa Trupe Circus, que é o grupo profissional da nossa instituição” Na visão da pesquisadora, o Movimento Manguebeat se tornou um ícone de transformação da cultura pop no Brasil, e Chico Scince era a cabeça disso tudo. “Foi um meteoro que chegou, revolucionou tudo e foi embora. A gente usa, no início do espetáculo, algumas frases, em manuscrito mesmo, do acervo da família de Chico Scince com estudos e memória dele. Tem uma que diz ‘morreu por viver demais’. Parece meio presságio, meio profético”, disse, reforçando que o artista teve uma vida curta e mesmo assim teve participação importante na cultura do país. ele morreu aos 30 anos, em 1997. Fátima Pontes destacou que o circo se desenvolve no campo artístico, mas também técnico, porque necessita de treinamentos específicos e contínuos, com aparelhos e equipamentos. Nesse espetáculo, por exemplo, o grupo utiliza uma estrutura de ferro, que é um equipamento construído especificamente para ele. O mesmo ocorreu em outros espetáculos do repertório do Trupe Circus. “Sempre temos feito essa pesquisa por novos equipamentos, novas técnicas e números circenses. Este espetáculo Circo Science traz um tipo de culminância de um processo que a gente vem fazendo há muitos anos, de pesquisa no campo técnico, estético e artístico; e de valorização, também, da nossa diversidade cultural, que é a forma como trabalhamos. Todos os nossos espetáculos da Trupe Circus têm esse viés de valorização da diversidade cultural pernambucana, nordestina e brasileira. Temos uma estética muito própria”, comentou. Fátima Pontes destaca que Circo Scince é também um manifesto da Escola Pernambucana de Circo e da Trupe Circus com seus integrantes, que são jovens artistas que se formaram na escola desde crianças. O grupo inclui jovens periféricos, negros e negras, pertencentes à comunidade LGBTQIAP+ e também homens e mulheres cisgênero. "É também manifesto da nossa resistência, do nosso trabalho com a arte circense, que é tão marginalizada em nosso país. É também uma forma de a gente mostrar que é possível viver da arte circense”, afirmou, informando que a Escola é uma ONG que se sustenta em parte por meio de editais, de aluguel da sede para eventos e de projetos de manutenção da estrutura de funcionamento.

Circo social

A diretora de projetos sociais do Sesc, Janaína Cunha, descreveu o Palco Giratório como grande projeto de circulação de artes cênicas do Brasil, com a sua programação renovada anualmente. Ela destacou que o país tem diversas companhias circenses, desde as mais tradicionais até as mais tecnológicas, todas com a missão de renovar a linguagem sem abrir mão da tradição, o que é relevante para se pensar a cultura no Brasil. “O nosso enfoque nesta edição do Palco Giratório é o circo social, que é um circo que interage socialmente, promove relações intergeracionais e conexões entre linguagens. A gente está falando de circo, mas também de música, de dança, de teatro. Enfim, o circo tem essa capacidade de congregar vários esforços no sentido do amadurecimento da produção artística”, afirmou em entrevista à Agência Brasil. Para Janaína Cunha, outro fator relevante do Palco Giratório é a atração de público. “Chama muito público no país inteiro, porque, de fato, é um festival de artes cênicas que traz artistas e espetáculos de todo o Brasil, promovendo a circulação desses grupos em todo o país. Como já é uma tradição, o Palco Giratório mobiliza público, tem sido capaz de renovar o público e de chamar atenção do público para importância da fruição e da circulação artística”, pontuou.

Fomento à arte

Os grupos que farão parte do projeto foram escolhidos após uma indicação dos representantes do Sesc nos estados onde desenvolvem seus trabalhos artísticos. As indicações são apresentadas ao coletivo da curadoria, que faz a seleção com base em critérios técnicos, de renovação de linguagem. “O Sesc contrata todos os artistas. É por isso que o Palco Giratório, além de um grande projeto de formação de público e de preservação da circulação artística, é também grande fomentador das artes cênicas, na medida em que contrata esses artistas e proporciona a eles todas as condições para a boa execução dos seus trabalhos”, contou, revelando que, em 2018, também houve uma edição dedicada ao circo a partir de Belo Horizonte, em Minas Gerais, mas com outros grupos e com recorte diferente. “Neste ano, a gente está realmente dando ênfase ao circo social, e a essa relação social que é promovida pelo circo desde os seus hábitos culturais de famílias circenses até a integração social que o circo promove”. A diretora disse que o trabalho realizado pela Escola Pernambucana de Circo coincide com a proposta do Palco Giratório de promover transformação social dando visibilidade a grupos locais. “É um prazer imenso ter oportunidade de trabalhar com ela e com o grupo dela. Isso traz uma vivência e informação de artistas oriundos de periferia, que se relacionam em projetos sociais para a construção de uma realidade social a partir das artes e de uma transformação social. Janaína Cunha elogiou que Fátima é uma representante do papel que a arte tem para se pensar uma sociedade mais justa, mais inclusiva e mais cooperativa. Para ela, um dos pontos fortes do projeto Palco Giratório é fazer com que produções, trabalhos e articulações que estão em nível local e que a gente consigam atingir uma dimensão nacional. “A gente tem uma quantidade importante de grupos que não têm oportunidade de circular para além do seu território, das suas fronteiras, do seu município, ou do seu estado. Muitas vezes, não conseguem nem ir a um estado vizinho. Promover esta circulação é de fato fundamental para que o Brasil conheça o que o Brasil produz, e não apenas para que cada estado conheça a sua produção regional, que também é importante. I don't think it's a canon-canon thing solely based on the fact that ABBA isn't specifically named but he most definitely listens and loves it based on his music preferences!

His music taste is a combination of 80's boy bands, pop rock, post-punk, acoustic pop, alternative rock, rock and roll, and pop.

I can't remember the issue but somewhere in the comics he talks about how he loves post-punk music. Post-punk is when artists took orthodox punk music and started to explore dynamics, dance beats, electronics, and to push the boundaries of the pop rock of the time. Source

It's slower than punk rock but more lyrically defined with meaningful messages about politics, world issues, etc as many artists were into.

He seems to like music that has an intensity to it which makes sense because people who like rock music like it for its focus on personal expression and authenticity.

Rediscovering Myself

Wow, it’s been a while since I last wrote here. Revisiting my old entries feels like opening a time capsule—one filled with self-doubt, uncertainty, and a restless search for passion. Looking back, I realize how much I struggled with finding myself, feeling lost, and questioning where I belonged. But things have changed, and honestly, for the better.

I’ve grown in ways I never expected. I feel lighter, happier, and genuinely grateful for where I am now. Life isn't perfect, but I’ve learned to embrace the present instead of constantly worrying about the future. And to remind my future self of this journey, I’m listing down the things I’ve been doing since the end of last year—small but significant steps that have shaped me into who I am today.

Gigs

A year ago, my ideal weekend involved staying in—either curled up in bed binge-watching K-dramas, sleeping in, or casually cafe-hopping with friends. But last year, something shifted. I finally pursued something I had been wanting to do for years but never really acted on: going to gigs.

Sure, I had been to a few school and work events before, but this time, it felt different. I wasn’t just attending—I was fully immersing myself in the local rock scene. I finally got to see some of my favorite bands live: Kamikazee, Franco, Chicosci, Tanya Markova, and Faintlight. But beyond that, I found myself discovering indie bands I never would have known otherwise. It became more than just a weekend pastime; it became a space where I could connect with music, people, and a version of myself that I never knew existed.

One of the biggest surprises? Interacting with fellow solo-goers and even some band members. I never thought I’d be comfortable in these spaces, but somehow, I found a sense of belonging. A special highlight? Victor Guison followed me back on Instagram—a small but surreal moment that still makes me smile.

Gigs have become more than just music events for me. They’ve become a reminder that stepping out of my comfort zone leads to unexpected joys.

2. Passion

Art has always been a passion of mine since I was a kid, but this year, I feel like I’ve truly rediscovered it. After years of working in advertising—constantly shifting between brands and client work—I hit a creative burnout. I wasn’t making art for myself anymore, and at some point, it felt like I had lost that spark completely.

Then gigs happened. The energy, the music, the whole experience reignited something in me. I found the drive and motivation to finally create for myself again.

Then it just hit me—why not share it? Instead of just keeping these illustrations to myself, why not give them to the bands as a kind of personal merch during gigs? It felt like the perfect way to merge my love for art and music, and honestly, it’s been so fulfilling to create something purely out of passion—no deadlines, no pressure, just art for the sake of it. I was slowly putting myself out there.

3. Solo

I think one of the hardest things for me before was doing things solo. But this year, I had to teach myself one of the biggest lessons—stop waiting around for everyone. Friends, family, strangers, situationships... I used to hold back, thinking I needed company to do the things I wanted. But at some point, I just went for it. And honestly? It felt good. Really good.

Since I started doing things on my own, I’ve found a sense of peace I didn’t even know I was looking for.

4. Trusting your Instinct

I used to be a people pleaser—always putting others before myself, even when it didn’t feel right. No matter the situation, event, or person, I’d push through, ignoring that uneasy feeling just to keep the peace.

But now? I’ve learned to trust my gut. If something doesn’t sit right with me, I know it’s not for me. And when something feels good—when I’m genuinely happy and at peace—I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

5. Love

I’ve found beauty in waiting—not the restless kind, but the kind that comes with peace. Being grateful for where I am, for what I have, and for who I’m becoming. I don’t feel like I’m missing anything because, right now, I’m fulfilled, content, and happy.

I’m not chasing butterflies or mistaking anxiety for love. When it comes, it’ll feel right—steady, certain, and peaceful. And when love does find me, I know I’ll be ready. But for now, all I want is to keep doing what makes me happy and share that joy and passion with the world..
