That obligatory bean shot! This is Anish Kapoor's "Cloud Gate," though most people affectionately call it "The Bean." Designed in 2004 and completed in 2006, this monumental public sculpture anchors Chicago’s Millennium Park. Kapoor, an Indian-born British artist, is known for exploring voids, reflections, and the tension between material and perception. The installation's polished stainless steel surface captures and warps the city skyline and sky, making the ordinary surreal. Kapoor described his work as something that "doesn’t exist outside our perception."

Ortigas by night tells the story of a city caught in transition. The Brutalist buildings from the seventies, with their bold concrete lines and heavy balconies, stand in stark contrast to the sleek, lightweight steel bridge design. The city feels like it’s racing toward the future, but I wonder what pieces of our architectural past we will carry with us and which we will leave behind. Will future generations appreciate these old structures as much as we do, or will they fade into our history?
