Danny gasps softly as he sees her sitting by the fire, likely having fallen asleep there. His eyes roam over to the thermos, wondering to himself if she had really made it for him or if it was just what she had left over, either way, she was sharing. The gesture alone made his chest ache again.

"Yeah, no take backs...I thought you'd be asleep, or, in the room at least. Didn't mean to wake you." He sighs and takes off his coat to hang up before taking the thermos to sip from. Definitely a lot of whiskey but it warmed him up quick. As he sips his drink he moves to sit at the end of the couch, nearly coughing when she asks her question.

"...I...don't know." He clears his throat and takes a deep breath. "I think I......fuck." He sighs and sets the drink down, rubbing his eyes with his cold gloved fingers. Never did he think he'd have this conversation with a survivor. "You became my object of interest, my obsession. I started to stalk you the way I did my victims in the real world, getting to know their patterns, their interests, things that would make it easy to kill them but usually my victims had something worth killing them for, you just.... you're just head strong, you've got an attitude but for good reason and as I watched you I started to...I don't know, care about you."

Dark brown eyes move to stare up at her as he tosses his gloves on to the coffee table. "I thought that maybe this feeling in my chest was anger, that I needed to get back at you, that I just needed to watch you bleed but when I did...it just felt worse."

Danny smiles at her words. She was smart, and broken. Just like him. It made his chest feel tight rather than happy to find someone like minded. Being trapped in his thoughts was hell and all he could wonder was if hers were too.

“You look like a popsicle. But I get it, I wouldn’t trust a killer either, I don’t, I always stab them in the back when they offer me something. It’s dog eat dog out here. Unfortunately though you’ll just have to deal with it.”

He grabs the scarf and wraps it around her again before picking up her frozen body to carry her back to the cabin. Perhaps this was just his selfish way of making himself feel better about killing her, he wasn’t sure, but he needed to get this aching feeling off his chest. “Don’t squirm.” He chides her as she fights to free herself from his grip.

The cabin was warm, small, but warm and cozy and smelt like burning wood and whiskey. “I’m leaving, but the shower is that way and there’s food in the fridge but you’ll have to cook it yourself.” He paused as he grabbed his mask and another coat. “Knives are in this dresser” he taps the side of the wooden wardrobe, figuring that she’d feel safer with a weapon. “And don’t fucking trash the place, okay?” He had already grabbed a few of his cameras and his pictures he cared for and shoved them in the bag he was taking. A day or two with the Legion would be annoying but he’d have to deal with it.

“I dont know why…but something didn’t feel right when I killed you…so, well…yeah.” Gods forbid he apologized, but this would have to do for now. He shuts the cabin door behind him as he steps back outside, forgetting the pictures he had of her in his bed-side dresser.

She bolted like a bull that had been shot with three tranquilizers. The damned body didn’t cooperate with the mind again, but the tongue did… 

“ If you don’t let me go down I swear to God I’ll shove that camera of yours up your ass while cutting your balls off with your own blade! “ Woman ignored the explanation and agreement with her statement, choosing not to believe anything that came from his mouth. Fangirling a murderer behind a closed tent and expressing that hidden attraction with provoking him got her where she is now, nothing good can come from conversing with him even if they see eye-to-eye on this particular topic. 

Hourglass shape landed on the cozy sofa with a small thump. Feet automatically tried to find the floor under them while the hands were ready to allow the fingers to curl around anything sharp or heavy to use as a weapon. Pine-green irises quickly started scanning the surroundings while following the mind’s alarm that this will be another fight for survival. . . then the man began speaking. I’m leaving…Shower… food. . .knives…  Combination of the words were like a spider’s web that wrapped itself around the skeleton, keeping it in place. The final blow, the bomb that shook the very core of the scarlet haired woman was, however, the last statement. Burning lips with caked blood covering the wound parted, thick black eyelashes batting while the remaining snowflakes turned to water. Before Clare had even a second to make sense of this or recollect her composure, the door was closed shut, and Ghostface was gone. 

“ What… the… hell. . “ words flew from the soar throat. Staring at the cabin door, his whole monologue  played backwards over and over like a broken record. A ruthless, deranged killer, one that was probably the most feared one, an Entity’s golden child for a reason, felt bad for killing person that was nothing but complete nuisance to his performance in the trials, and one to blame for all the problems even out of them. Slowly, cautiously, like a burglar on his toes, Clare started to explore what was seemingly the living room of the cabin. It seemed… pleasant, snug, homey. The warmth coming from the fireplace hugged the skin like an long lost friend, and the muscles almost felt relaxed if it wasn’t from the tension of having her guard up. Peeking around the wall separating the kitchen and the room, Clare saw the fridge, but instead, she approached the wardrobe and swiftly pulled the handles, opening it. He didn’t lie. 

A bunch of beautiful, deadly blades proudly glittered under the light of the chandelier. There were too many to take them all, but the hands grabbed three. One in hand, two shoved inside her leather jacket. She closed the wardrobe, but decided not to wonder far from it, just in case, looking at the door every few seconds. There was two more doors. One was supposed to be the shower. The idea of hot water on her body felt like the whispers of a promise land, but she decided against it, instead going for the last door. Carefully turning the knob, she peeped inside, letting the light cast its rays into the place. Something caught her eye. Entering the space that was hiding most of its secrets in the shadows, except from the seemingly very comfortable king size bed and the table in the corner, there was something else. Another few steps. Knife in her hand fell on the wooden floor and the sound was what made her flinch and wake up from the shock. The board covered with her photos  along with the notes stared back at her. 

“ What…” she moved closer, examining the photos. It was just her. No one else. And none of them were like the ones he usually took. Bloody and gruesome. They were… professional and nice. She began reading the notes. Stopping at the one that made the heart to skip the beat and throat to close on itself. ‘ Laughing for once ‘ with the picture of her. The woman was drown in confusion. Heart was racing, strange feeling filled her chest. Something that she couldn’t explain, something she didn’t feel before, but one thing was for certain. The tension and fear? Gone. Panic replaced by the emptiness and the relief of being alone eaten by the need to have someone near. Clare took the knife from the floor, slowly going back to the living room, leaving the door of the bedroom open. It was quiet. Still no one. 

Where did he go? Approaching the window, she gazed at the wild blizzard outside. A trail? No, that would be much different. To the legion? Maybe… but still, why? Tired feet dragged her to the fireplace, where she finally decided to take a seat, allowing the body to rest. She was hungry, she was tired, and would kill for that shower, but only thing she could think about was the words he spoke and what she saw, mindlessly staring at the closed door of the cabin. Did he mean that? Was he regretting killing her? Impossible, he got her here to take revenge for what she did, he told her that loud and clear but… why do this? Luring her in meant nothing if he was not here to feast on the result. Clare had a little million of questions, ones she needed answers too. Was it possible he is more than a deranged maniac with a face of an angel to trap you? Was there more to him than the insane need to butcher and take pictures of that bloody mess? Maybe he was lonely, misunderstood, complicated but if around certain, special people – good… just like her. Clare got to her feet, roped to the door by that thought, in attempt to go find him.

Today I found myself reading TMI again after being done with studying (ugh, whoever invented exams can burn in hell) and I feel like I keep running out of ways to explain how incredibly copy pasted and close I feel to Alec. Like, yes sure, I love Izzy with every inch of my soul and don't I wish I was like her and Magnus is just such a me vibe in my best days. But Alec has always been my focal point every single time I read Cassandra Clare, and every time I expect to find myself being like "oh shut up" like I often find myself doing when Jace talks, even Clary sometimes, but I just don't.

I find it so unbelievable how the first time I read City of Bones I was around three years younger than Alec in that book and I just couldn't help but think "He's real". Because miss m'am Izzy was killing demons in high heels at sixteen and Jace probably had more girlfriends than I have hair on my head and there was Alec. Trying to beat sense into them, being discarded by Jace the moment Clary came into view. His only friends being his own sister who was his complete opposite and his parabatai who way too foused on being cool than on his own struggles, him trying to hide himself from the Clave out of pure fear that they would exile him and just abandon him in a world full of demons as a mundane like they did to his uncle.

He was the secondary character. The fifth wheel of the cart, as we say in my family. And I could relate to that, because being on the outside and looking on the inside, being aware that you're not enough is something that i've found myself doing all my life ever since I was a toddler. Not too fun. Not too cool. Not too smart. You're just in the middle of it all. Never enough to stand out. Just a blank paper. And I just felt this ache in my heart when I finished that book years ago and I still feel it every time and this boiling rage knowing that this man stood bravely against it all. The fact that he played such an important role in the war, almost as important as Jace and he was still seen as "Jace's parabatai", when this man genuinely changed the law and rebuild every belief of the Clave to make it more humane.

There's just enough words in the dictionary to how many levels I love Alec and to how many levels I am grateful to Cassie for writing him, because who would I violently and brutally relate to if it wasn't Alexander Gideon Lightwood, the Inquisitor of the Clave and the man who loved a man so much he changed the world for him and Magnus's archer boy.

-- we give Chaol a lot of shit (and rightly so) for being so shocked that Celeana, a famed assassin, assassinates people. But Dorian is doing it too. Get it together, lads.

-- Archer is the most beautiful man Celeana has ever seen, with green eyes, a sensual mouth, and a dazzling smile, and he's strong and ruggedly handsome. You know who that sounds like to me?

-- Celaena to Dorian: "So don't expect ME to care when you find yourself nothing more than a puppet. If you aren't one already." Apollo just smashing Celaena in the face with the prophecy dodgeball.

-- What's Hollin's deal? Is he part Valg by birth?? Or just an asshole?

-- Archer: They want to put Aelin Galathynius back the throne! They say she's raising an army!

-- What's with SJM and slightly creepy libraries? We've got the castle library here with a secret door leading to a secret staircase that leads to an iron door where expirements are kept. Then we've got the library in the House of the Wind where Byraxis lives. Then we've got the library in the Torre Cesme, which has those baller cats but is also the site of a dreadful murder. Then we have Jesiba's library which is the Great Library of Parthos and is the site of a vicious attack on Bryce, Shryinx, and Lehabah.

-- the slave rebellion in Calaculla. "Silently, she began to recite the names of her dead. And then as the overseer raised his whip, she added her name to the end of that list and swung his ax into his gut." Oh GOD.

-- her lament at Nehemia's grave. Ouch my heart.

-- Dorian's tower room sounds AMAZING.

-- I saw a theory on Tumblr that the creature that emerges from the portal is a kelpie like the one from ACOSF. And fam, IT FUCKING IS. The descriptions are freakishly similar. Which means the portal opens on the Bog of Oorid in Pyrthian. And that's why she's able to shift into her Fae form. Because she's in a world with magic and Fae. Oh my GOD.

-- "Celaena was Fae." HELL YEAH SHE WAS, BABY!!!!!! With blue fire like my girl, Azula.

-- " 'I knew you were a good woman.'...

'No I'm not....but Nehmia was.'" FUCK HIM UP, BABY GIRL.

-- And now I can start saying Aelin, which is easier to spell lol

-- and thus the world gets broader, the plot thickens, and we take a step away from the simple plot and on to the meaty stuff.

-- oh! Oh! I just remembered I wanted to talk about this book in particular vs. the ACOTAR series. In this one, a pretty main character dies. And she dies for good. And she's just the first one to die. And as much as we the readers hate character deaths, there's something so much better about TOG for not shying away from killing off characters. In ACOTAR, death is meaningless. Feyre dies and is resurrected. Rhys dies and is resurrected. Amren gives up her life to save everything, and she's miraculously brought back by the Cauldron. Az and Cassian suffer pretty gnarly wounds and are fine. Aside from Papa Archeron and Clare, everyone else is covered in plot armor. You never really fear for them because, for some reason, SJM just won't kill anyone in that series. It isn't like that in TOG. And it feels more genuine.

daryl has always been beyond careful when it came to hiding his secret , though what had once been out of conditioned shame turned into necessity for survival . his gruff , lone wolf type demeanor helped make it easier to keep people from looking too closely at him . and he's been LUCKY in that the times he's gotten wounded in some way , the weapons had traces of silver - enough to keep him healing at a rate that wouldn't raise any alarms . the world being the way it is made it much easier to handle the cycles of the moon , it was easy enough to slip away and rip apart some walkers ---- no one would question him being filthy with his habit of being lax toward showers .

still , sometimes he finds those he's closer to giving him a lingering look now and again -- especially from rick , or carol , or even clare on occasion - that makes him worry maybe he's relaxed too much in not being as careful . the archer knows that people would have panicked in the old world , and he's fairly certain that even now with the dead walking ---- that a werewolf would be a little too out of the realm of things that make sense , and he knows he'd either have people trying to KILL him - or study him , use him as an advantage , a weapon .

fingers pick at the blood drying on his fingers from a recent hunt for some deer or rabbit to bring back to the group - and daryl finds himself lost in thought , the wolf distracted enough that he doesn't notice anyone's approach - smoke curling into the air from the cigarette hanging between eternally-chapped lips .

Scarlet haired woman tucked one of the three precious picks back into the pocket of the worn black jeans, being careful not to pick the pocket with the "decorative" hole on the left. The smell of sweat, smoke, stale alcohol and strong perfumes hit the nostrils in the back stage. Clare never got used to that smell, no matter how many years of playing in smaller clubs she had under the belt. The space was quiet, the screams and insane shouts of support had disappeared, and only the sound of glass clattering that the cleaning lady was probably sweeping from the floor could be heard echoing.

Her temporary band members have already gone to their homes, or to the couch of some one-time relationship to exorcise the devil of loneliness. Fiery redhead got used to being alone, or at least she tried to present it as her ultimate truth. Spirit broke a long time ago, distancing herself from every beating heart became a golden rule. Solitude was...practical, simple. Difficult, but without unwanted surprises that could pinch her and leave a new scar of disappointment. A scar that suddenly opened and burned again when a familiar voice was heard.

Redhead flinched, dropping the pick before it disappeared into her pocket. " What the fuck... " she couldn't swallow the swear word, nor mask the surprised expression on her face when she saw the man who entered the back stage. Hell...she hoped to get out of town before the past came knocking on her door. She couldn't endure smelling his cologne on every corner again, remember all the moments where they hid in dark corners and fleetingly stole kisses...things she tried to push deep into the sea of existence.

“  Kinda hard to think this was an innocent coincidence.. ” melodic tone joked half-heartedly, no matter that she was far from the mood for humor. Looking at a blank spot behind him, Clare was instantly reminded how still she could not keep a decent eye contact with the male. Fuck....some things never change.. some weaknesses never fade. “ Look, don’t know why you are here but, I am in town just for the gig, so you don’t have to worry about seeing me around for much longer.   “
