“Damn right,” she’d muttered to herself with a little smirk.

Now she was inside, the double glass doors shut behind her, and the room? It was a damn dream. One of the biggest on the floor next to Camille’s suite. Walls were soft cream with a gold trim crown molding. Her desk was glass and polished steel, U-shaped, her three monitors mounted above a hidden CPU tower that glowed faint pink underneath. LED lights ran under the edge of the desk, giving it that under-the-club feel. It was modern, luxurious, and expensive. Just like her.

Courtney sat pretty in her blush-pink ergonomic chair, cross-legged, one foot bouncing lightly in her Balenciaga slippers as she typed away on her MacBook. Courtney took another sip of her fancy-ass water, leaned back, and crossed her arms.

Chapter 17: Baby G in the Big Chair

The moment Courtney heard the little feet pattering outside her office door, she already knew. Only one little menace stomped that hard in glitter-covered baby sneakers.

The door cracked open a little too fast, and there stood Maya, face lit up like she just broke into Barbie’s closet. Hair in two puffy buns with glitter scrunchies, a pink backpack slung over her shoulder, and hands holding a to-go cupcake box like it was a national treasure.

Courtney laughed and held her arms out. “You wanna try the big girl chair, baby G?”

“Uh-huh!” Maya bounced, cupcake box jiggling dangerously.

Courtney scooped her up, all warm strength and soft encouragement, and carried her to the throne. She carefully set Maya down into her pink executive seat like she was placing a crown on a queen’s head. Maya immediately started spinning a little before stopping herself, glancing at the monitors with reverent awe.

Courtney stood behind her, gently rubbing her scalp with her nails. Maya melted under the attention, eyes fluttering as she leaned back against her.

Then Maya proudly held up the cupcake box. “I brought you cupcakes! Daddy said I could pick which ones.”

Courtney leaned in, opening the box slowly like it held ancient jewels. Inside were four glitter-bombed cupcakes, but one in particular was decked out with a little unicorn horn, sparkly frosting, and edible stars.

Courtney gasped dramatically. “Oh my GOD. Coco Puff, did you make this masterpiece?”

“Well it shows, ‘cause this one look like it came from a fairy with a black card.” Courtney plucked it from the box, leaned down, and kissed Maya’s cheek. “Thank you, baby G. You made my day.”

She took a careful bite and hummed, eyes closing in fake dramatic bliss. “Mmm—oh, this right here? I’m gonna need you on dessert duty for life.”

Maya giggled, watching her like she was on stage.

“Oh, this so good,” Courtney went on, licking a little icing off her finger. “You really did that. I might have to tell Camille we need to open a bakery now—Miss Loud and Baby G’s Cupcake Mafia.”

Maya laughed hard. “Cupcake Mafia?!”

Zilla gave her a little nod before locking eyes with Courtney, that smirk growing just a little.

Courtney licked the frosting from her lip and grinned wide, never breaking eye contact.

“Thanks for the delivery, Baby Daddy,” she said, licking her thumb. “Your daughter just earned a whole fashion collection and her own desk. She workin’ overtime already.”

Zilla shook his head, exhaling a soft chuckle. “Yeah, she yours now.”

Courtney’s grin turned wicked. “That’s cool. I only charge half a million for custody.”

Zilla stepped further in, low and amused, “Bet. But you keep spoil’n her like that, I’ma have to put you on payroll.”

Courtney leaned down to whisper in Maya’s ear, “Did you hear that, Coco Puff? That sound like a raise.”

Courtney stood behind her chair like it was natural. Because by now? It was. Zilla had made himself comfortable in it—well, as comfortable as a 6’5” storm cloud of a man could look in a plush pink ergonomic office chair—with Maya curled up in his lap, her little body reclined back against his chest like she’d been sitting there her whole life.

The war room upstairs at the bunker wasn’t ever quiet for long. But when Camille pushed open the heavy steel door with her long acrylics tapping against the frame, she paused.

The sound she expected? A little girl giggling, faint tapping on a laptop, and the low murmur of two voices blending in harmony like they’d been doing this forever.

Camille’s smirk deepened. She glanced at Jimmy, who just shook his head and laughed low.

“You know what this mean, right?” Camille said, moving closer.

Courtney raised a brow. “Oh?”

Camille leaned on the side of the desk, arms folded, one manicured nail tapping against the marble top.

“It mean I gotta get her a desk now too. Can’t have my logistics head runnin’ the empire with her mini-me on her lap, no executive seat. Bad for the brand.”

Courtney grinned. “Make it pink. With sparkle trim.”

Jimmy glanced down at Zilla, who was still silent but hadn’t moved Maya from his lap. His arms were loose around her, protective but calm. Like this was their rhythm now.

“Never thought I’d see the day,” Jimmy muttered, toothpick twitching.

Zilla finally spoke, voice deep and flat. “What day?”

Jimmy chuckled. “The day your stone cold ass let a woman this loud and a six-year-old run your whole program.”

Zilla didn’t blink. “It’s organized.”

Camille and Jimmy both cracked up.

Courtney turned, leaned down, and kissed Maya’s cheek. “You hear that? He said we the program, Coco Puff.”

Maya giggled, throwing her little arms in the air. “WE THE PROGRAM!”

Camille shook her head but her eyes were warm.

“She’s got him,” she said quietly to Jimmy.

Jimmy leaned close, his mouth at her ear. “Like I got you?”

Camille smirked. “Just like that.”

And just like that, two kingpins and their queenpins watched the next empire forming—one cupcake, one chair massage, and one glitter laptop at a time.
