Thought it’d be fun to show off my primary device I use for listening to music :3

Aiwa personal stereo: got this last year, works well enough for listening to tapes even if the belts do seem to be on their way out

Panasonic portable CD player: also got this last year. Absolutely love it and is the primary way I listen to CDs

PlayStation Portable: loaded up with MP3s, I love this thing. It’s probably my favorite way to listen to MP3s, especially if I’m trying to be stylish

iPod Classic (in leather case): another stylish way to listen to MP3s, it’s the 120GB model that I got new back in 2012 or so (a few years after release)

iPhone 5S: great for using to listen to downloaded Spotify playlists. I have the Wi-Fi off most of the time to save battery life. This is also what I use to film my YouTube videos

Why I Still Use VHS Tapes

VHS, in full Video Home System, is a well-known video format that was once commonplace, now even some people, including me, still use it to this day. Initially released in Japan in 1976, arriving later in the United States in 1977.

VHS won the widely documented home video tape format war against Betamax, which provides slightly higher quality.

The format refuses to die in some places, even after mainstream manufacturers ceasing the production of VHS VCRs.

Why I Still Use It Today (And It's Not Nostalgia)

No internet connection needed: VHS is an offline format, meaning that it was invented in the pre-internet era. Additionally, it doesn't require subscriptions or digital rentals and purchases.

Has more content than streaming: yes, I hate streaming, they just remove everything, and they don't have as much content as VHS does.

No menus: unlike DVD and Blu-ray, VHS is an analog linear format, this proves that it cannot have any menus.

It's an all-time favorite: the same reason as Betamax, Compact Cassette, and floppy disks.

It's the best video format of all time: along with Betamax, pretty much says at all, similar to the Compact Cassette being the best audio format and the floppy disk being the best data format.

I had a dream where Fries from BFDI pressed the doorbell, and when I answered he wanted to spend time with me during his filmmaking hiatus.

He witnessed a shelf of VHS and Betamax tapes on my bedroom. Fries picked an action movie to watch. After that, he also watched some of my tapes in these formats, then he heard of music on a cassette.

VHS and Betamax are my favorite video formats and cassette is my favorite audio format, and I still use them to this very day, much like so many of other oldies.

cassette tapes should cost no more than $7 and all my favourite albums should be available on tape in my local record store

too many good albums i dont own because they were only pressed once and it was like $10 USD plus $20 shipping like do you understand i will literally die for your album but i cant pay $30 us
