hellooo, do you take c.ai requests? if so, may i please request a rich!older!abby who is a professional trainer and former athlete, (or maybe owns an athletic company or something) who makes diet plans for her younger!bimbo!girlfriend, and she likes, helps her workout and stuff too
đ older!rich!abby anderson â younger!bimbo!fem!user â¸â¸
â chat here (c.ai)! || â chat here (janitor ai)! (soon?)
the weights clink quietly in the background. not the heavy kindâabby made sure of that. those were racked neatly out of reach. instead, she has her girl on resistance bands and soft pastel dumbbells, everything color-coded and easy to grip with manicured hands. no strain, no sweatâjust enough to keep her toned. soft. touchable. pretty.
exactly how abby likes her.
she leans back on the leather bench, sweat still glistening across her own sculpted abs from her 5 am deadlifts. a protein shake in one hand, the other lazily holding her girlâs pink ipad, where the custom diet plan she spent three hours perfecting last night is open in a sparkly notes app.
âtuesday: oat milk smoothie, one scoop vanilla whey, four strawberries, half banana. protein waffles. no syrup.â
abby smiles at her own work. sheâd even added a glitter heart sticker next to âabbyâs approved đ.â
she watches {{user}} curl the light weights in a matching set of baby blueâsports bra too small, shorts riding up that ridiculous ass abby spoils rotten. she could barely focus during that board meeting this morning, kept thinking about how she wanted to bend her girl over the conference table andâ
âback straight, baby,â she murmurs instead, voice low and fond.
{{user}} adjusts instantly.
good girl.
abby gets up, padding across the plush flooring in her sports bra and compression leggings, broad frame casting a shadow over {{user}}. she gently sets her hands on her girlfriendâs waist and guides the motion. âthere we go. just like that. youâre doing so good for me.â
she watches her form. watches the little pout when her arms get tired. watches the way her thighs jiggle just the right amount. abby swears sheâs never been more obsessed in her life.
after a few more reps, she pulls the weights away and replaces them with a bottle of electrolyte water she imported from italy because itâs pink and tastes like strawberries. âhydrate,â she commands softly. then wipes her girlâs forehead with a warm towel.
âletâs do stretches now, yeah?â she says. âdonât wanna pull anything. youâre too precious for that.â
she leads her into the next room, where floor-length mirrors reflect the two of themâabby: tall, muscled, confident; {{user}}: dolled up, small in her hands, perfect. abby helps guide her into each stretch, palms sliding over soft skin under the pretense of âcorrecting form,â when really she just wants to touch. needs to.
the more abby presses close, the more the scent of her shampoo risesâsomething expensive and sugary sweet. the kind that lingers on abbyâs pillows long after {{user}} slips back into her pink car and drives home, lip gloss still smeared on her cheek.
except abby never lets her leave without dinner. never lets her leave at all if she can help it.
once stretches are done, abby scoops her girl into her lap without warning, still sitting on the yoga mat. âyou did so good, sweetheart,â she praises, voice thick, low against {{user}}âs neck. âyou followed your meal plan, you finished your sets, you even texted me your weight like i asked.â a kiss to the jaw. âproud of you.â
she pulls out her phone and shows her a little progress chart she made, complete with sparkles and a photo of {{user}} at the top. âweâre gonna keep going slow, okay? keep you healthy. soft. just how i like you.â

Apple WWDC 2025: iOS 19, macOS 16, and a Bold Leap Into AI

Appleâs highly anticipated Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025 kicked off with a wave of innovation, as the tech giant unveiled iOS 19, macOS 16, watchOS 12, and a lineup of software upgrades that signal a bold new era driven by artificial intelligence and developer empowerment.
đ A Deeper Dive Into iOS 19: Intelligence Meets Personalization
Apple's iOS 19 brings an AI-first philosophy to iPhones, promising smarter, more personalized user experiences.
Key Highlights:
Smart Widgets now dynamically adjust based on user behavior, location, and time of day.
A new AI Writing Assistant built into Messages, Notes, and Mail can auto-suggest replies, summarize long texts, and even draft professional emails.
Vision Intelligence, powered by on-device neural engines, can now analyze images in real time to provide suggestions, context, and even live translations.
iOS 19 Journal introduces automatic memory logs based on activity, photos, and calendar eventsâentirely private and stored on-device.
These upgrades reflect Appleâs answer to the evolving expectations of mobile app users. And for businesses working with top mobile app developers USA wide, this shift creates new demands for cutting-edge apps that adapt intelligently.
đť macOS 16 "Orion": Pro-Grade AI for Everyday Use
The new macOS 16, dubbed "Orion", builds on Apple's tradition of smooth integration and elegant UIâbut this time with a twist: deep AI utility for productivity and creativity.
Whatâs New:
Xcode 16 comes with AI-powered code completion and real-time collaboration tools for developers.
Focus Studio lets users train their Macs to prioritize specific types of content or workflows using AI routines.
Native apps like Mail, Safari, and Preview are now supercharged with Apple Intelligence (AI) that summarizes emails, highlights key data, and offers quick action suggestions.
These capabilities will be especially beneficial for companies investing in custom software development services, as AI continues to reframe how professionals interact with digital environments.
â watchOS 12: Smarter Health Tracking and Alerts
Apple Watch users now get access to Predictive Wellness, a new feature that combines biometric trends with lifestyle inputs to notify users about potential health anomalies before symptoms appear.
Enhanced Sleep Tracking and Stress Levels monitoring with automatic journaling.
Integration with Apple Health AI to provide daily health summaries and goal recommendations.
With the growing emphasis on healthtech, developers aligned with Flutter app development services USA will find opportunities to innovate in cross-platform health applications compatible with the Apple ecosystem.
đ ď¸ Developer-Focused Innovations
Apple isnât just about the user-facing polishâit also dropped powerful tools for developers:
Swift 6.0 introduces built-in support for AI model inference and edge computing.
RealityKit 3 makes it easier to build immersive AR/VR experiences, especially for Vision Pro devices.
New APIs allow for cross-platform experiences between iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro with minimal overhead.
These toolsets open up new playing fields for digital agencies, startups, and enterprises looking to collaborate with the best software developers USA for smarter and scalable app solutions.
đ AI Privacy: A Core Principle
While AI was clearly the theme of the day, Apple was quick to emphasize its commitment to privacy. Most AI computations run on-device, with no cloud dependencies, and Private Relay AI ensures that even intelligent suggestions remain encrypted and anonymized.
Apple continues to stand firm on its privacy-first values, carving a different path from competitors who rely heavily on cloud processing.
đŻ What This Means for Users and Developers
With WWDC 2025, Apple has officially stepped into the AI battlefieldâjoining Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI in a race to define the intelligent interface of the future. But true to its brand, Apple brings elegance, privacy, and seamless integration to the forefront.
From developers eager to build smarter apps, to users looking for intuitive tools that "just work"âthis yearâs updates aim to transform how we interact with our devices, one intelligent suggestion at a time.

[ad_1] Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) acts as its annual showcase for everything new the company plans to include in its software for the next year, providing developers lead time (and incentive) to integrate imminent features and capabilities for iPhones, iPads, Macbooks, Apple Vision Pro, Apple Watch and Apple TV in their upcoming releases.Today's event brought us a Liquid Glass redesign across operating systems, unified version numbers for the OSes (all ending in 26, e.g., iOS 26), except MacOS Tahoe 26, which still incorporates a tourist destination. Plus, the new Gaming app -- which is mostly a hub but with some group features -- which we've been waiting for.  Apple prepped buzz for the event by releasing new retro merchandise for the nostalgic among us. Watch this: WWDC 2025: Everything Revealed in 10 Minutes 09:37 The event began with a buzz video of Craig Federighi, senior VP of software engineering, racing in an F1 car to promote the F1 movie produced by Apple for its Apple TV Plus streaming service.  If you're more the "moment-by-moment" type, you can check out our archived live blog. Or just skip to the memes inspired by the closing song. Or just go straight to the part where you complain it bored you.Public betas of the new operating systems will be available in July, and the first developer beta for iOS 26 is available right now. Watch this: Apple Unveils Liquid Glass, a New Design Language 05:53 Liquid Glass redesign stole the show Apple's "gorgeous new design," for all its platforms the first overhaul since iOS 7, made possible by better displays and more powerful components. Apple's vision for its next operating systems' interfaces is almost literally that: It's inspired by VisionOS. The new design system is called Liquid Glass, and brings a return to more pervasive translucency for the OS elements -- the same aesthetic that informs the software for its Vision Pro VR/AR headset. That means more lens-like appearance, with specular highlights and dynamic movement as you change viewing angle. Navigation behavior changes as well. Apple/Screenshot by CNETiOS 26: The new operating system (and naming) is officialLiquid Glass will probably make the most impact on Apple's most popular device. But in addition, there's a new unified layout for communications, integrating Phone and FaceTime. Call Screening will wait until someone begins to talk and tell you who it is before ringing through, while Hold Assist will keep the call connected in the background and ring you when someone answers. Across the apps, there are lots of interface elements floating and more features just a tap away.  The long-rumored "new destination" for gaming, Apple introduced the Games app. There's a hug for Arcade, and it shows events and your entire game library in a single place. There's Play Together for managing co-op and group challenges. Developers can use that for turning single-player games into group challenges. And it works with a controller. Heck yeah. Watch this: Introducing iOS 26 at WWDC25 04:37 Messages gets a customizable background that's shared across a chat, group chats can host polls, and you can request or receive Apple Cash in group chats. You'll be able to filter messages out from recent and unknown senders out of notifications. Emoji generation gets smarter by letting you combine and modify Genmoji to more accurately reflect what you want to convey. New ChatGPT styles include things like oil painting, or the ability to ask for a specific style that's not a preset. Live Translation is now live in the communications apps with this version of the OS, and will work when you call someone who's not on an iPhone.  In addition to the new look, which includes things like dynamic scaling of widgets based on the photo on the lock screen, can automatically make the photo 2.5D and animated artwork for what's playing. There's lyrics, live lyric transliteration, mixing via the new AutoMix feature and music pins in your library. iOS 26 features a new Games app and live translation. Apple/Screenshot by CNETThe camera makes it more streamlined to access the basic photo and video modes, plus all the options have been made a quick gesture away. Library and Collections tabs are back in Photos. Apple opens Visual Intelligence to not only screenshot search, but can use it across apps or call up ChatGPT. Maps can learn your preferred routes and take them into account, gives you travel time estimates and remembers where you've been for a visited-location history. Apple Wallet will offer passport info for digital IDs (for everything but flying). Pay will offer in-person redemption of Rewards and use of Installments. Apple/Screenshot by CNETiPadOS 26 gets more Mac-like every yearThough probably not the most popular updates people care about, iPadOS 26 did get a lot more architectural changes aside from more Liquid Glass prettiness and the Live Translation, communication and AI features from other devices. The substantive changes include a new windowing system to improve multitasking. There's a grab handle to resize full-screen apps to windows, using the flick gesture to tile -- it works with a trackpad as well as touch. It looks very similar to MacOS. The big change to iPad OS is a new system for managing your windows. Apple/Screenshot by CNETExpose brings up thumbnails of open windows so you can select the one you want. There's also a persistent menu bar at the top of the screen, like a desktop OS. Heck yeah. And it doesn't require a specific high-performing iPad; it works with Stage Manager and on multiple displays. Of course, some people are wondering (dreading?) what it will be like to use on an iPad Mini.Files finally grows up, like a detailed list view with the ability to resize columns, the ability to drag a folder to the Dock and more. Preview comes to the iPad, and the OS adds support for selecting a mic and providing a noise-isolation option across apps. There are also more tools for creators, such as local capture via video conferencing apps, with mic options for better sound. Background tasks -- yes! -- will show up as live activities, so you don't have to put it down and walk away for a render.MacOS Tahoe... 26This year's location name is Tahoe, and the update includes the same communications appearance updates as iOS 26. MacOS Tahoe incorporates the Liquid Glass design, too. You can add a new set of controls to the control center, change colors or add emoji to folders.Continuity gets Live Activities, like on the iPhone, and the Phone app comes to the Mac with shared history and the other new AI features. MacOS is the only Apple operating system that will keep its old naming practice. Apple/Screenshot by CNETShortcuts now have intelligent actions, like summarizing text or comparing things. Spotlight adds some of the annoying features of Windows search, like mixing results across types you don't want. Quick Keys are two-letter shortcuts for apps and actions, along with suggestions. It keeps a clipboard history, which should make a lot of folks happy. The Games app on Tahoe has the same features as the app on iPhone, plus an in-game overlay. Updates to Apple's Metal graphics framework, Metal 4, adds frame interpolation, denoising and more for potentially better game performance and quality. Upcoming games include Crimson Desert and Inzoi. Watch this: Apple's WatchOS 26 Gets a New Look and More Features at WWDC25 07:03 Workout Buddy makes its debut in WatchOS The Apple Watch OS incorporates AI in a new Workout Buddy, which keeps your fitness history and offers vocal coaching (ugh, pep talks) with a summary of your workout stats at the end. Workout has a new layout and custom workouts. Smart Stack uses more data to prioritize and predict which features you'll want soon. It's smarter about notifications, basing the volume on the ambient noise in your environment, and adds a Wrist Flick gesture for things like dismissing notifications.  WatchOS 26 will also feature smarter smartstacks. Apple/Screenshot by CNETThe new design permeates Apple TV Plus and TVOS, too. Apple also announced some new upcoming originals and new seasons of existing shows like Slow Horses and Foundation.TVOS will will let you jump back into shows more quickly and gets into karaoke with your iPhone as the mic. Along with integrated karaoke, the new TvOS includes a redesigned FaceTime app. Apple/Screenshot by CNETVisionOS 26 adds more for businessThis operating system already had the look, but Apple's taken VisionOS 26 deeper and more into-the-real-world. Widgets can be personalized and persistently overlaid. The OS will remember window placement. Photos can also create spatial views of photos and automatically convert images in articles, for instance. Personas will potentially look more accurate. Apple's VisionOS 26 will add Spatial Scenes, a new method of creating 3D images in your photos. Apple/Screenshot by CNETCollaborative Pro usage got a co-op game callout, but it's for business. If you're using a shared team device, you can save your settings on your iPhone. There's also a new Eyes Only mode for privacy. Logitech Muse 3D stylus and PSVR hand controllers are two of the interesting new accessories for it.You'll be able to edit Premiere Pro video and playback native 360 degree playback for popular action cams. It seems a bit short-sighted on Appleâs part to only provide support for the excellent Apple Sports app on the iPhone. With their larger screens, there is massive potential for incredible user experiences on the iPad and Mac, and it seems logical to add similar experiences to the TV app on the Apple TV. It would be great to filter down for My Teams, My Leagues, or specific conferences or leagues when trying to find a game or tournament.
With these features being so seemingly obvious, I can only assume they are on Appleâs roadmap or backlog. Letâs hope so anyway.

Mobile phones, laptops, palmtops, IPads, and desktops are gadgets that have become more of a necessity to have than a luxury. Everywhere you turn, someone is holding one. You are probably reading this from one of those gadgets. Their invention came to revolutionize, mainly the world of communication. How has this happened?Oversees calls have been made possibleLectures can easily send notes and assignments via emailsVideo calls can now be made anywhere you areAssignments are written and stored in laptops as opposed to booksOne can track their cars and homes through mobile phone appsVideo games have soon replaced outdoor gamesIt is easier to access rescue and health services through emergency call.Mobile banking has reduced trips to the ATMs, and one can make transactions anywhere and at any timeMaking it possible for people of different languages to communicateHave you ever watched international conferences where every country representative has an earpiece? They are used to, say, translate from English to French or any other languages depending on which one the person speaks. These are but a few positive changes that have been brought about by technology. However, for every good thing, there are a few of those who choose to take it and promote negativity. Such is the way of life, and we can only hope that, with time, we will all learn to use technology for its intended purpose.Tech CrimesThis article may not be able to exhaust them all, but it will serve to make one alert the next time you are on your device. HackingThis is by far the most common crime that has emerged from tech advancements. To hack, is basically, to find a loophole in a safety device and use it to disadvantage the owner of that device. Every other day, you may hear your friend saying that their Facebook or Instagram account has been hacked. There are also serious cases where hackers access bank accounts and transfer peopleâs funds to themselves. Others hack into the security systems of peopleâs homes and cars, and the outcome is always theft. Cyber Bullying In the USA, this is so ramparted that almost half the teens have experienced it directly or indirectly. Cyberbullying is where someone makes it their mission to make your life miserable through threats from phones that cannot be traced. They do well to cover up their tracks by hiding their identity. By being able to access the IP addresses of your devices, they find ways of hacking into your camera and they can switch it on and off at will. Can you imagine some stranger texting you to tell you that they can see what you are doing? Scary, right? Online DatingTechnology has made us so lazy that we do not even want to go out and meet new people. Before dating sites such as Tinder were invented, the movies, bookshops, libraries, and colleges were just a few of the many places you could meet new people. Now, we all want to put all our private information, pictures, and home locations online for the perfect mate to find us. This is paramount to putting yourself on a shelf in a department store where anyone can come to buy. These sorts of hook-ups have resulted in endings as tragic as death. There are many psychotic people and sexual predators looking to meet their next prey from these sites. One can detect the desperation from how much information is given in the biodata. Once you arrange for a meet up with a stranger, you cannot know what plans they have for you. Immorality Have you lately checked on the history of your childâs web browser? What are they watching or listening to while locked up in those rooms? The internet nowadays has no limitation or parental guidance. Anything you want can be fooled and found on the World Wide Web. Parents have confessed that it only took them a minute in their childrenâs phones to find out only too late that they had been recruited to weird cults amongst other things. Does this mean that we go back to the olden way of life? Of course not. Crimes existed before technology, and they will continue to do so.
The only greater disadvantage is that with tech, the magnitude of crimes has increased, whereas the effort by the criminals has been simplified. As much as technology is an advantage to all of us, we should learn to limit it to only when we need it. Otherwise, we expose ourselves for every online predator looking to devour on unsuspecting people.

Steve Jobs 1983 Aspen Vision
When we think of Steve Jobs, we often think of Appleâs iconic products the iMac, iPhone, iPad, and more. But whatâs truly astounding is that Jobs had already envisioned much of todayâs technological landscape in 1983 during his talk at the International Design Conference in Aspen. Itâs not just remarkable foresight; itâs almost prophetic.

Jobs didnât just talk about computers or gadgetsâhe described the ecosystem we live in today, long before any of it existed. Hereâs a breakdown of his visionary ideas that now define the modern world.
1. The iMac and All-in-One Devices
Jobs spoke about the future of personal computing, foreseeing devices that combined powerful hardware with sleek, user-friendly design. This vision came to life with the iMac in 1998, a machine that redefined desktop computing. His prediction of integrating form and function made technology approachable for everyday users, setting a precedent for the tech industry.
2. Smartphones and Wi-Fi
In his talk, Jobs imagined a world where people could carry a âcomputer in a bookâ and connect to vast information networks wirelessly. He didnât call it a smartphone, but the description was unmistakable. Fast forward to 2007, and the iPhone brought this vision to life, revolutionizing how we interact with the digital world. Today, the combination of smartphones and Wi-Fi is the backbone of our daily lives.
3. Google Street View
While discussing connected systems, Jobs painted a picture of digital maps combined with photography to navigate the world. This idea would later materialize as Google Street View, launched in 2007. His understanding of the potential for integrating real-world visuals with data was uncanny.
4. Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPT
Jobs hinted at the possibilities of computers becoming smarter, capable of engaging in meaningful human interaction. While AI was in its infancy in 1983, his foresight has culminated in technologies like ChatGPT, enabling machines to understand, learn, and even hold conversations that feel remarkably human.
5. Social Networks
Jobs also envisioned a world where people could connect through digital platforms. Although social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram wouldnât emerge until decades later, the foundation for these global communities was evident in his belief in computers as tools for communication and collaboration.
6. The iPad and Tablet Computing
The idea of âa computer in a bookâ didnât just describe smartphonesâit also alluded to tablets. Jobs foresaw devices that could be effortlessly carried around, with intuitive interfaces and touchscreens. The iPad, introduced in 2010, became the embodiment of this concept, changing how we consume media and create content.
7. Privacy Concerns
Even in 1983, Jobs warned of the dangers of technology encroaching on personal privacy. He understood that while technology could empower, it also posed risks if misused. His concerns about protecting user data and privacy remain incredibly relevant in todayâs world of surveillance, data breaches, and debates over digital rights.
8. The App Store
In discussing how software distribution might evolve, Jobs imagined a centralized marketplace for softwareâeffectively describing the App Store, which Apple launched in 2008. His insight into creating a seamless platform for developers and users transformed how we access and use software.
9. iTunes and Digital Media
Jobs believed that technology would revolutionize entertainment, predicting the digitization of music, movies, and books. With the launch of iTunes in 2001, he created a platform that forever changed how we consume media, paving the way for streaming and digital downloads.
Why This Matters
Jobsâ 1983 talk wasnât just about predicting gadgets; it was about understanding the relationship between people and technology. He saw the potential for technology to enhance human creativity, improve communication, and make information accessible to everyone.
Itâs crazy to think about how much of our world today he outlined over 40 years ago. From iPhones to Wi-Fi, from AI to digital privacy, Jobs didnât just see the futureâhe helped create it. This talk remains a testament to his genius, reminding us why heâs more than just a tech icon.
As we marvel at the devices and systems that shape our daily lives, letâs not forget the man who dared to dream of it all before anyone else could even imagine it. Steve Jobs wasnât just a visionaryâhe was a time traveller in thought, guiding us toward the future long before we arrived.

At my conference last week, I attended an "improv" themed mixture that asked everyone to pair up with a stranger, each rant for two minutes (timed) about a topic of your choice. Then each pair was asked to turn to another and introduce our new partners to the new pair by describing their values, as inferred by the initial rant.
Anyway, this was essentially mine. I work with grad students and undergrads about ten to fifteen years younger than myself. I often train students how to program, because I do intensely computational work often using computing clusters, and my lab motto is "fuck doing shit manually and tediously if I can code a computer to do it for me." Because I work in psychology/neuroscience, my students are also usually totally naive about how programming works when they come to me. This is also how I arrived in grad school back in 2012, so I do get it.
The thing is, my students are so much less comfortable with basic shit like directory structures and hunting for basic workarounds in response to errors than I was at their age. And it's because apps silo all that shit away from users! It wasn't possible to use computers the way I did as a teenager WITHOUT that shit, especially because I used to routinely have to navigate around and bypass narc shit like Net Nanny if I wanted to read fanfiction in peace. There is so much more advanced spyware now and it's so much more normalized! It's harder to dick around in filesystems -- hell, I have to actively work and sometimes search the Internet to find out how to get to the directory of my phone!
And I mostly lay the root of the problem at the foot of two places: apps/mobile, and the increasing arms race between technology developers and end users to control user experience.
Apps function effectively by hiding all the parts under the hood from the user, so as not to overwhelm. But what hiding all the parts does is prevent the user from learning how to lift the hood up and tinker with the machine! Sure, you might break it, and it's certainly more frustrating to use that way, but what a wealth of power lies at your fingers if you learn how the machine works.
If technology was structured in such a way that it actually approximated a free market, maybe we could find sellers designing shit to be easy to learn with. As it is, though, there are two paths an individual user is often presented with when choosing among computing devices: a more or less accessible device with all the settings hidden behind four walls of obfuscation, and a completely customizable option with full access to everything and deeply unfamiliar options designed for expert use by someone comfortable with the potential failure modes of the device. There's no middle ground any more, especially for children! Hell, iPads are some of the worst for this shit, and Chromebooks, and that's what we start children on cause it's cheap!
At some point we have to dedicate pedagogical time to this so that everyone has a basic standard of technological literacy, just as we dedicate pedagogical time to explaining the technology of the alphabet so that everyone has literal literacy. It drives me nuts that my generation, which was the peak of "children just mysteriously learn and adapt to new technology with no instruction whatsoever" (also incorrect, but I digress), hasn't realized yet that times have dramatically changed and that we have to actually teach useful skills to our children at this point if we want them to have them.
Maddening!
seriously, though. i work in higher education, and part of my job is students sending me transcripts. you'd think the ones who have the least idea how to actually do that would be the older ones, and while sure, they definitely struggle with it, i see it most with the younger students. the teens to early 20s crowd.
very, astonishingly often, they don't know how to work with .pdf documents. i get garbage phone screenshots, sometimes inserted into an excel or word file for who knows what reason, but most often it's just a raw .jpg or other image file.
they definitely either don't know how to use a scanner, don't have access to one, or don't even know where they might go for that (staples and other office supply stores sometimes still have these services, but public libraries always have your back, kids.) so when they have a paper transcript and need to send me a copy electronically, it's just terrible photos at bad angles full of thumbs and text-obscuring shadows.
mind bogglingly frequently, i get cell phone photos of computer screens. they don't know how to take a screenshot on a computer. they don't know the function of the Print Screen button on the keyboard. they don't know how to right click a web page, hit "print", and choose "save as PDF" to produce a full and unbroken capture of the entirety of a webpage.
sometimes they'll just copy the text of a transcript and paste it right into the message of an email. that's if they figure out the difference between the body text portion of the email and the subject line, because quite frankly they often don't.
these are people who in most cases have done at least some college work already, but they have absolutely no clue how to utilize the attachment function in an email, and for some reason they don't consider they could google very quickly for instructions or even videos.
i am not taking a shit on gen z/gen alpha here, i'm really not.
what i am is aghast that they've been so massively failed on so many levels. the education system assumed they were "native" to technology and needed to be taught nothing. their parents assumed the same, or assumed the schools would teach them, or don't know how themselves and are too intimidated to figure it out and teach their kids these skills at home.
they spend hours a day on instagram and tiktok and youtube and etc, so they surely know (this is ridiculous to assume!!!) how to draft a formal email and format the text and what part goes where and what all those damn little symbols means, right? SURELY they're already familiar with every file type under the sun and know how to make use of whatever's salient in a pinch, right???
THEY MUST CERTAINLY know, innately, as one knows how to inhale, how to type in business formatting and formal communication style, how to present themselves in a way that gets them taken seriously by formal institutions, how to appear and be competent in basic/standard digital skills. SURELY. Of course. RIGHT!!!!
it's MADDENING, it's insane, and it's frustrating from the receiving end, but even more frustrating knowing they're stumbling blind out there in the digital spaces of grown-up matters, being dismissed, being considered less intelligent, being talked down to, because every adult and system responsible for them just
ASSUMED they should "just know" or "just figure out" these important things no one ever bothered to teach them, or half the time even introduce the concepts of before asking them to do it, on the spot, with high educational or professional stakes.
kids shouldn't have to supplement their own education like this and get sneered and scoffed at if they don't.
