What a year... 2016 will be unforgettable in many ways. For me, top of the list was being part of the historic centennial celebration of the @SanDiegoZoo. Honorable mentions: Giant Pandas now Threatened not Endangered. Education & global awareness are causing (positive) cultural & government shifts in the ivory trade. Over 30 new marine sanctuaries were designated for the benefit of the environment, ecology and thus, humans as well. Tiger populations are showing an increase in some areas. Same goes for the bald eagle. Channel Island fox (3-subspecies) are no longer at risk of extinction. Lord Howe Island stick insect breeding program creates over 500 viable eggs in the US breeding colony. Jamaican iguanas released into the wild. Global awareness of the pangolin reaches new heights, thus increasing the species profile & cutting into market demand. And so much more!
