India's pace bowler Prasidh Krishna faced intense criticism from fans on social media following another disappointing performance in the ongoing Test match against England at Edgbaston. Selected ahead of left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh, Krishna failed to deliver once again, conceding 72 runs in 13 overs without taking a single wicket, at an economy of 5.50.

Another Test, Another Expensive Spell

Once hailed for his raw pace and bounce, Prasidh Krishna’s red-ball journey has gone from promising to problematic. In the latest Test, Krishna struggled to find rhythm or consistency, with England’s Jamie Smith and Harry Brook capitalizing on his erratic lines to help their team claw back into the contest.

Krishna’s inclusion in the XI was seen as a bold move, but it’s one that has not paid off for India so far. Despite having good white-ball credentials, the pacer hasn’t managed to adapt effectively to the longer format.

Record He’d Rather Forget

To make matters worse, Prasidh Krishna now holds the unfortunate record for the worst economy rate in Test history for a bowler who has delivered more than 500 balls. His stats from the first Test were equally troubling — leaking 128 runs in the first innings for just three wickets at an economy of 6.40, and picking up two wickets in the second at 6.10.

Cricket fans didn’t hold back on X (formerly Twitter). Many criticized team management’s decision to persist with Krishna over other options, particularly Arshdeep Singh, who many believe would have offered more control and swing-friendly skills in English conditions.

One sarcastic post went viral:

“I will sponsor a business class ticket for Prasidh Krishna to return to India. Please just stop this torture.”

Another user wrote:

“We are not playing England, we are playing Prasidh Krishna at this point. 13 overs of pain.”

Team Selection Debate Rekindled

With Jasprit Bumrah missing from the current series and Mohammed Siraj leading the pace attack, India’s fast-bowling unit is under heavy scrutiny. While Siraj has shown experience and composure, Krishna's lack of control has turned into a liability.

Even former players have subtly hinted at rethinking team combinations, especially when the gap between potential and performance keeps widening.
